Really tasty food value for money. It's right on the promenade and you look over the sea with great views. Highly recommend for daytime eating

Had a day out in Burnham for sons birthday ,lovely day except we made the mistake of going in the bay view cafe . I understand because of where it is they probably pay higher buisness rates than most cafe's there but the prices they charge for the very poor food they give out is a joke ,They give you minimum sugar and napkins as if there doing you a favour giving them to you,had to ask for another tea bag for weak tea they sloshed at me,scones cheapest tat with no fruit in and worst of all was apple crumble that looked like chicken broth, the custard is like nothing i have ever seen it must be water based and yhey must of microwaved the crumble n custard together .may have been homemade because they didnt use any of that expensive suger they dont like giving you in it ,they charged just under 6 hard earned pounds for it and totally inedible whoever sent it out needs to try there own tripe not only looked disgusting but tasted it .DONT waste your money go the witherspoons or one of the nice little cafes on high st.

Reasonable prices, Nice location, nice airy room with views, clean tables but food was, as others have said low quality. Bread/ toast is the cheapest sliced loaf, sausages are the ones you get in a chip shop very low quality, and they charge for each sachet of unbranded red or brown sauce. Fried bread means its not the healthiest option for breakfast.

Food was good but pricey . My husband asked for jacket potato with chilli but declined the chips or boiled potatoes offered with it , asking for some salad with it instead . When it arrived they'd missed out the jacket altogether and gave him a plate of very sloppy chilli and salad . Fortunately, my hubby has strange tastes and enjoyed his salad / chilli mixture ! It advertises as being dog friendly. We sat outside at a table on the promenade , my chihuahua was sitting on my lap while we were waiting for our meal to be delivered ; the manageress informed me that this was against the rules ! We ate our meals and just as we finished, we were told there had been multiple complaints because one of our dogs had barked and was "out of control" . A passing dog had barked and one of our dogs barked back , we have five dogs between us , hardly a hanging offence , we speak , dogs bark ! Definitely wouldn't recommend this café, unless you find an officious manageress entertaining

Please stay clear, a total rip off. £7.99 for a 1/4 pounder burger, Holy moly, two dry buns and a flat patty, No tomatoes, lettuce, salad, and I asked for Mayo or any sauce would be an extra 10p, my partner had the all day breakfast, just about edible, and the pot of tea for tea, my urine was stronger, and £2.75 each. All the seats were taken outside but as we had our 82yr old mother with us decided it was too cold anyway & proceeded to go inside only to be stopped by a lady at the door who (politely) told us they no longer allow dogs inside-we had 2 with us. I asked why... because the owner has heard that they can carry the coronavirus..really REALLY!!! How ignorant of the owner. Well for your information SO CAN PEOPLE!! But you allowed lots of them in. So we went to Take Two cafe instead who willingly let us in with the dogs & gave them treats as well. We will be giving them the business in future.

Food tastes as terrible as it looks. Just so dry and quite pricey considering, but that’s not the bad part. Was made to feel like a thief twice. Firstly at the till with an attitude, when the woman charging me told me what I’d just taken off the counter, hinting that I was trying to sneak it past her, (after being told to take it myself by another member of staff), second time the same woman marched over to the table accusing me of not paying for things another couple had ordered and paid for. She apologised, but I don’t expect to have my integrity questioned twice when I’m just trying to eat something. Maybe their normal guests are always trying it on? I don’t know. But it’s wrong either way. (Sort it out at the cash register and if it’s discovered that people have taken things and not paid, then confront them, not before)Shame because location is great and younger staff were very respectful.

We have been going to this little cafe for years. Always open when we want it to be and the staff who work there are always friendly and helpful. Our 3 dogs are always welcomed with a bowl of water and treats. They also have doggie ice cream which the dogs love. Nothing too fancy about the place or the meals, seaside cafe food like scampi and chips or spotted dick for pudding. But it wins being in a great location and really easy, quick service.(unless it is busy when you may have to wait a bit but not really a big deal) Price wise, not cheap but not expensive. Enough to pay the many staff that they usually have on plus pay for the great location they have. This little seaside cafe is what is great about Burnham and we need to support these local businesses as much as we can to make sure they stick around.

We have in the past loved comming to this cafe on the seafront it was a lovely inviting place to be with good food and great staff we would sit and have conversations with them and have a nice time. NOT ANY MORE. We will not be back . The staff don’t have a clue what they are doing clear lack of training and attitude is shocking. If they were my staff they would not have a job. We asked simply if we could have scrambled eggs with our breakfast something we haven’t had an issue with in the past ... but this was deemed too challenging for the “chef” in the kitchen. Okay fair enough but we asked if we could not have tomatoes as can’t be eaten and was informed quite abruptly that we would not be able to swap or change anything at all we could only take things off even tho they was cooking the ingredients anyway for the dish? So after realising breakfast probably wouldn’t be for us finding issues that never would have been been a problem and hasn’t been before we instead decided to have a panini . We was informed the paninis were made up in the fridge so we had a look and a very limited range of 2 paninis so we asked if we could have one which on the menu is advertised as 2 fillings not as pre made limited to availability and again the server went and asked the chef if they could make one and again was told no. With so much choice around we decided to leave as the effort of the chef to just tweak an order for our requirements was a step beyond. We went elsewhere and got food for a cheaper price and of good quality. Burnham has plenty of eateries around so don’t waste your time here. I myself a chef manager train my staff the customers are paying and to try and give them what they want within reason obviously but asking for a few more mushrooms instead of some tinned tomatoes due to allergy or scrambled eggs instead of fried due to preference I don’t think was putting them out and ended up losing custom just by how rude the staff were in the end and uncooperative.

It seems if we ever go to Burnham we end up in Bay View Cafe. Given there's a huge car park over the road, not to mention the roadside parking its so convenient. We used to shop at Morrison's across the road so Bay View was very convenient for tea and cakes if not dinner, but Morrison's closed. Still B&M; has moved in so we will give it a go for our shopping when we visit the Cafe.

Driving down to the south coast from the Midlands, Burnham looks like a good place to stop for breakfast. It was a breezy winters day so the warmth of the cafe was welcome. No problem to take the dog in - great! I had a veggie breakfast. Hot and fresh - just right. Hubby had a bacon sandwich - very nice. Drinks were good and staff friendly. Prices reasonable. I'm sure on a good weather day the views are lovely from here. We would certainly stop here again.

Sadly, being a puppy, I was not allowed to taste much of the food that my humans enjoyed. They said the cafe was clean and well presented and the food served up was scrummy. Mums faggots were huge and very tasty, and dad’s mixed grill was nice, if not very large. Nice coffees too. We sat out in the sun under the new covered in terrace bit. All very pleasant.

Ordered cheeseburger and chips with beans. The chips and beans where ok but the burgers where terrible. A cheap tasteless burger in a dry bap with plastic cheese and no offer of any sauces (we had to purchase them) I wouldn t mind but it cost nearly £17 and quite frankly a McDonald's would of been a banquet in comparison.

We used to go here a lot in the past and always loved it. Unfortunately our recent visit was pretty dire. The cottage pie was good but a smaller portion than before - and more expensive. The worst thing was the 'home made' apple pie, which looked anything but home-made. It was almost unrecognisable as any kind of 'pie' being more like soggy pudding drenched in watery, instant custard; both having been heated together, making the whole thing a soggy, tasteless slop. I know we should have complained at the time but were in a hurry. Very disappointed overall and won't be returning. Our meal came to just under £30.00 for 2 people and 2 courses + drinks. Frankly, you can get a decent steak for less elsewhere...

Fantastic food with good service. Large portions at a good price. I recommend it! When we where in there a group from an old people's home came in, they ask if ( because of there age) they could have child size portions. It wasn't a problem the staff was great about it. Then a lady with a broken leg cam in. Her leg had to be lifted up on a chair, this too was not a problem. If I came to Burnham- on-sea again I would came here again.

The food we had was very good decent size portion too. My main gripe is that I had to wait not only to order and pay quite a while because they had a new recruit. I fully accept that staff need to be trained but I feel he should of had the basics explained before cafe was opened also it doesn't give a good impression when the kitchen staff come out to complain because the new recruit had made a mistake on the way he'd written an order. There was no smile or apology from I assume was the owner for being kept waiting and the embarrassment of witnessing the young lads humiliation. We did however get lots of smiles and banter from the chap who cleared and wiped our table down. There is free WiFi but we had a job to get password, it would be handy to have it displayed or on their cards they have by the till. On the whole a good experience and would visit again.

I spent a relaxing few hours at Bay View Cafe whilst waiting for the riders to come in from the "Chase the Sun" event. Visited today and had mixed grill. Burger was undercooked so couldn't eat and was undercooked. Although seemingly awarded 5 stars for hygiene tables could have done with a disinfectant spray. The thing I was most disgusted about was the fact that a couple came inside the cafe with a dog even though there was adequate seating under canopy cover outside ordered food and sat at one of the tables with the dog and nobody said anything to them. Dogs are not allowed inside cafes where food is served. Absolutely disgusted and won't be eating there again. Waste of money. Also had to buy, yes buy sauce sachets at 10p each!

We also ate the cake which was lovely.

Very busy café, but incredibly efficient team handling orders so no wait at all really! I had a chicken Sunday roast with extra gravy, they forgot my Yorkshire pudding and I didn't realise that I didn't have one until an hour later lol, oh dear, it's an age thing ha ha! Roast potatoes obviously deep fried, they were rather bland looking and tasting tbh, so oven roasts would have been much nicer as these weren't the best. £11.95 plus a coffee on top, so circa £15 in total. Dinner was nice enough, and the portions are generous also. I would return for the same, but with the Yorkie next time lol, as the service was excellent, very friendly indeed. Sort the roasties out and you're onto a winner! (P.S. I would recommend this place, the deserts looked absolutely gorgeous!)

Awful ! Overpriced ... poor service ! No meals except pastries .... a sausage roll was £6.95 ! I know it's a National Trust and we are members I agree they do a great deal of good. However, with such a prime seaside spot .... loads of families on the beach ...they should offer normal seaside food and priced! We had a coffee and a slice of cake and it came to £20 for 2 of us. Families are struggling at the moment. I can't understand why they don't offer traditional seaside food like a bag of chips, ice creams, lollies, milk shakes etc. They have a prime spot with a captive audience as its the only cafe at Brean down. Felt very dissapointed it could be so much improved !.... prices are Ridiculous !!!!! Service is bad you order then go to another partcto collect , no please or thank you ! I think they love dogs more than people !

Called in on a Wednesday lunchtime as we passed by from Bristol airport on our onwards journey to family. Spotlessly clean, I asked for mayo, the squeezey bottle lid and bottle were spotlessly clean, as was the vinegar lid and bottle, toilets clean and tidy. All staff friendly, nothing was too much trouble - I asked for hot water to top up my pot of tea. We had chicken wraps and skinny fries, chicken was nice and juicy, good value for money. We would definitely go back if we were ever in the area again.
