We called in for something to eat but it cost us over sixteen pounds for two coffees and two bland cakes you could go to bridge house just up the road and for another three pounds you can have two large coffees with two large snacks ,etc, Welsh rarebit with masses of gammon .the decor does not suit the bakery though I suppose that's what you are paying for but l for one do not like being ripped off,why calling a bakery when you can't buy any bread or cakes as you have to order it days in advance and there isn't any thing on display in the window. They are trying to be an upmarket cafe in the wrong place.we won't bother going there again ,rather go up the road ., at least we won't be ripped off.

The bakery looks attractive, is clean and appears popular. The staff were friendly and helpful. No prices were displayed, at least not obviously displayed, and I ordered a latte – which was £3.10. The drink, which was pleasant, was delivered in a small/medium sized glass beaker and so the large 2.5cm “frothy” head was immediately apparent. Since the diameter of the glass increased from a narrow base to a much wider rim this of course means that the volume of the froth is quite significant – I estimate that more than 25% of my drink was air! Maybe I got about 200ml of liquid. This was disappointing.

On cycling through Bampton we found this delightful bakery. Attracted by the wonderful bread/cake selection in the window we walked in and were made to feel extremely welcome. Nothing was to much trouble. The perfect way to start Good Friday with a coffee and home-made hot cross bun. We will definately return by driving out or a return cycle. Thank you so so much.

Sadly no longer a good value bakery with large tasty cakes. It's gone a bit fancier, and the flapjacks & other cakes have shrunk, and prices more than doubled the last 3-4 years (approx £2.50 for a smallish brownie etc takeaway). Taste is good, though not exceptional. Won't be going out of my way to Bampton again, and if passing through will try the Toucan Cafe again.

We had hiked 6 miles and came across this lovely bakery. We were in need of a hot coffee and a snack and this place did not disappoint. As I had forgotten my mask I sat outside on a little table with a seat on the small pavement section to the side of the bakery. I would highly recommend this for a good stop, service was great, tasty food what more can you want. I write this next section, to warn anyone else who decides to sit outside. We then admired the bread @ the front of the shop only for a large car to pull up, a middle aged woman gets out in a fierce temper flattens a chair that was she screams on the ‘public highway’ and then throws it against my walking poles and does the same with another chair. I asked her to not damage my walking poles and both her and the man who was driving (who wound down the window to inform me again) screeched ‘it’s a public highway!’ Whilst I have no knowledge whether it is a public highway or not please people let’s be kind you know nothing about me and what I may be up against and I know nothing about you but what I do know is that kindness goes a long way. Had you calmly put my chairs to one side there would have been no problem but please don’t intentionally try to damage someone else’s property. You were simply rude, obnoxious and an ugly dent on what was otherwise a lovely day. This is in no way a criticism of the bakery. Indeed the staff were very apologetic and confirmed that they knew the couple we were talking about. I would urge said couple to take it up with the bakery not unsuspecting customers. Please note that the staff, another lady who I spoke to and a gentlemen from the deli game butcher were all superb and kind people. This was but a small dent on our first visit to Bampton. We hope to return maybe with my friend who works for the highways agency 🤣

Having visited the bakers for 11 years the quality of the flapjacks, macarons and date slice have fallen and were disappointing. The flapjack was dry and tasteless, disappointing and will not be buying again. Sad to see a quality bakers losing it's mojo and going from being the best around to just one of the rest. Maybe eye has been taken off the ball and now a reallignment is required.

New premises at Lucy Lou's don't have same cozy feel as old premises. Disappointed with granary loaf which has lost it's old depth of flavour and lovely substantial texture. Used to take extra loaves home (not local but regular visitor) but won't bother now. Bread pudding was stodgy and too much spice gave feeling of burning in throat.

My husband and I have frequented the Swan Neck cafe many times, as we walk along Tiverton canal regularly. The experience has always been fantastic - cakes, coffee, hot chocolate - top rate. However my experience today was somewhat disappointing. I paid £7.50 for the soup of the day and a roll. I was astonished to see when it arrived that it was a smallish coffee cup of soup, rather than a bowl, accompanied by a small white roll. £7.50! The soup was delicious but in my opinion it should have cost about half what was paid. I always try to support small independent businesses but I'm afraid today's experience has left me feeling rather wounded and that I have been taken advantage of. Definitely not value for money in my opinion. Sorry Swan Neck but you've got it wrong on this one.
