Lovely refurb, however, everything else was lacking. For a restaurant that is on the pricier side, you would expect a bit more. Starting from our arrival, we were met rather coldly by the front of house, told to pick any table of our choosing (all of them looked like they had not been cleaned in a long time, with stains all over). There was no cutlery on the table, turns out we had to go get our own cutlery from the front of the restaurant? The Sunday roasts were very mediocre, although cost over £20. The beef was overcooked. Our cokes were served in glasses that had just been out the dishwasher and had a super chemically smell, I did ask to change them and we got new ones, but it just added to the list of little red flags. All in all, I think the Bathampton mill can do a lot better, and I hope they do. We live right next door and would love to come back once the price point reflects the experience.

We have a lovely lunch in this beautiful pub. Service was quick and friendly. Food was excellent. We had chipotle sticky chicken, padron peppers and halloumi fries as starters, all perfect. Main courses were fish and chips - great batter, dirty burger - tasty and juicy and Margherita pizza - stonebaked and yummy. Exceptionally good service.

I love this pub outside Bath. A fantastic friendly & wonderfully designed pub full of atmosphere and a friendly atmosphere. Very close to the river so great location if you want to use the river. Interior design is lovely. Food & drinks are nice too. Avoid entrance via toll bridge.

Absolutely lovely experience. The venue is stunning and the views are incredible. The staff, food, drinks and atmosphere is extractul what’s needed for a lunch with the family. All of our needs were met and couldn’t ask for more. Definitely recommend.

Absolute Rubbish- over 1 hour 15 minutes between starter and main. Many people asking if they had been forgotten. Overpriced thin sliver of liver pate and even smaller bit of bread over £7.95. I have been before and don’t know if under new management but moved from 4 to 5 star to 0 if I could give it. Won’t be back

It was a disaster. Firstly, the food order was taken, then throughout the next 40 minutes, staff kept returning to say the food we'd ordered wasn't available. 3 of us had to reorder. First no pizza bases, then no burgers. Coeliac in the party too which was advised when we booked - menu makes no reference to GF options, we were just given some iPad with ingredients to trawl though. No guidance, very little options given the chicken was also not available. Really unacceptable to expect teenage (or any for that matter) coeliacs to be identified, isolated and treated in this way. Why not just identify GF options on the menu like Veg/Ve? Then, it took absolutely ages to come to the table; and came out at different times. The first people had finished their food by the time the last order arrived. This was a family reunion with family having travelled from Wales. When you're spending >£200 on a meal, you expect much better. No table service for food order or drinks, which as a table of 8 was a nightmare trying to order at the bar and then have to reorder 3 times. When the food eventually came, it was utterly dreadful. Chips were stone cold and had to be returned. Sea bass was stone cold and was microwaved as "it was the last portion of fish". Noodle salad was not even fit for the dog. Seriously, the dog would even eat it! The duck was disgusting, raw fat an inch thick and the edges were dried out and unedible. Literally was more like road kill that has been baked in the sun. And added to that, the noodles weren't cooked - still crunchy. The battered fish was soggy and oil drenched, with flour still around the fish, soggy cold chips. And lastly the dirty burger was overcooked, cold and not edible. It really was the worst meal we could have ever imagined and not worth a penny of the £200 we paid. The only edible item ordered was the carrot soup. Waiting staff weren't very helpful, the general manager was apologetic.

Cracking Sunday roast! Came here with my partner, we both had the beef which was just perfect. Portion sizes were also generous! Will definitely be back.

Lovely setting by the river. The food and service was excellent.

A great place to drop into for a quick drink next to the river. Staff were attentive and not pushy. Food looked nice but we didn't eat there. Do not forget to enter your car's registration number at the bar to avoid a parking ticket.

As previous reviews have noted, a bizarrely long, slow queue to buy a drink in a half empty pub.

It's OK. Service was a little slow and there is no atmosphere although the decor etc is nice. Rather like ordering drinks in a hotel lobby.

Booked as drive past and it looked pretty, met a friend there whom also had driven over the toll bridge and thought the same. BUT - avoid... Tables were uncleared and not wiped between guests, you ordered at the bar, they were not busy but it was a 40 minute wait for food and it was dry and overcooked. Ordered dessert and a 40 minute wait for that too... Coffees were 20 minutes ahead of it. No clearing of main plates and it was just really uncared for. Drink wise we had a gin, they had no idea of which were the local gins and suggested Gordans... Then drowned a silent pool gin we spotted on the shelf in tonic from the soda tape - they really late training on how to serve customers... My recommendation - drive past ... This is probably the best decision!

We didn't eat there - but looked super! Such a great spot to relax with a drink before an amble along the canal path into Bath.

Let's be honest, they think they're better than they are, the food is average, the beer choice is alright, but the location is great, so they can get away with it.

The place was filthy, looked like it hasn't been cleaned in months, specifically the outside side of the main building, where we were sitting. The lights had cobwebs all over them, it took 20 minutes to order with only one person, it seemed, working, and the food took ages. They brought the cutlery after the food so it was going cold as we waited - all in all a disaster, we won't go again.

We had thebeef roast . I can say it was one of the nicest roasts we've had . Full of flavour lovely roasted veg and a very generous portion. The gravy was lovely and beefy and plenty of it. Will definitely do a return visit soon .

Oh dear. This place got better after it changed hands - for a few months - but it’s almost as bad as it used to be again. Service is almost zero - nobody even bothered to show us to our table, so we were moved after ordering as we’d sat at the wrong table. You have to order your own food and drinks and pay at the time of ordering, at which point the machine asks if you want to leave a tip - before you’ve eaten or been served anything - so not sure how you know whether you want to leave one or not at that stage?! Food is abysmal, took 40 minutes to get it and it was really gross. Fish was like a mushy paste, poor quality frozen and smelt really weird. For £5 more you can get incredible fish and chips at the Scallop Shell, go there instead is my advice. Zero service, zero atmosphere, zero interest in food or service. The place is simply too massive for staff to keep on top of, it wasn’t busy but almost every table had empties on. Definitely won’t come back.

We ordered 3 sides as a snack and ended up waiting for about 50 minutes until we got our food. Decent chips but nothing too special. There was a small amount of servers and they seemed like they were struggling which is not their fault. Also I didn’t have it but my friends had the mac and cheese and it was the worst thing they’ve ever had.

Nice food and lovely setting. Price reflects that though. Slow to get food - approx 45 minutes which was disappointing as it was mid afternoon and mid week so not too busy.

Lovely place to have a meal. Interior decoration is great, and the service is fast and polite. The food was good, chicken burger was crispy and flavourful, but too much sauce and the pickles did not taste right, more like half pickled cucumbers.

Food took an hour to arrive wouldn't use again

Went to order and was told they didn't have what we wanted, Went back and they didnt have that either, Why wasn't we told at the start? Also had to ask for cutlery. Crab linguine was 1/10, Lamb rump was 7/10 mash was cold and pork belly was a 8.5/10. Wouldn't visit again.

Obviously the location and scenery is next level here. The staff were friendly. Anyway now I feel obliged to tell you all about their burger. The beef burger here is TERRIBLE. The patty was dry, tasteless, and looked vegetarian (which is an insult to beef patties). When you look at the burger next to the other dishes it does not even look like it comes from the same kitchen. Do not get it! The half chicken roast was quite delicious but the potatoes were way over cooked and mushy, but I like potatoes so it was fine for me. What I found weird was that you have to get your own cutlery and napkins when sitting outside.

First time visiting today for Sunday lunch and we were very impressed food was extremely well presented and full of flavour, had 3 courses and a bottle of wine and very happy with the bill. Will definitely be returning

Great location. But that's the only great thing. Service is really slow, staff are rude and the food is not worth it.

Food ok. Service is totally overwhelmed. It feels like there are two people serving 100 customers. Food arrived 1hr after ordering and the dish we received was not what was on the menu. We sadly found waiters to be curt and rude when asked questions. Setting beautiful if you're just coming for a beer or coming at a quiet time of day.

A place that looks like a very luxurious restaurant but in practice you will embarrass your guests. The service you get for the amount you pay is extremely inadequate. Almost zero! Nobody brings you the basic things you need in a restaurant like forks, knives, salt and glasses. No one asks if you need anything while you are eating. The food is so far below average. I don't recommend it to anyone. On top of that, when you go and find someone inside and ask for something, they make you incredibly uncomfortable with their answers and body language. I suggest you don't go there and waste your money...

Me partner and me both had burgers, honestly couldn’t fault one of the best burgers I have ever had. I had the chicken burger and couldn’t fault it. Service was a little slow but we went on a sunny Fri eve so we understood, our server a young chap also apologised on many occasions. Loved it will definitely be back! Location and interior is great.

Came for a nice eve meal. Ordered two salads. They took a long time and came out one by one. The first came out lirerally being swung about with no finesse or professionalism. Avocado was too hard to cut through. Of the two salads portion sizes, it seems one got a whole lot more than the other, for no reason. Shame, as the atmosphere was nice. Staff member didn't seem too bothered and food was not up to expectations or standard. Shame.

Staff need training. They were surly and slow and our dinner was delivered separately and practically thrown at the table. It wasn't particularly busy and yet we waited an hour for 2 salads. The food was ok, but the salad was distinctly lacking in salad and the avocado was rock solid and inedible. I'd come for a drink and the pretty view but avoid the food.

Unknowingly we arrived 10 minutes early as 11am is opening time,28/6/24 A female member of staff was cleaning ‘some’ of the tables outside,she shouted out to say that they were closed,It it was cold and windy so we asked her if it was possible to sit inside for 10 minutes and she bluntly said ‘no’,no apology or polite manner at all. She then chose not to clean the table we sat at which was filthy. Had we had time we’d have left there and then,this member of staff was sour,rude and clearly had no skills for the job whatsoever. I gave the benefit of the doubt from a visit last week when it was clear that another female member of staff had no idea how the coffee machine worked and made an Americano with a short expresso type shot and topped it up with hot water,it was horrible and certainly not cheap. We also had to ask twice if our outside table could be cleaned as it was a sticky mess. All in all we won’t be returning anytime soon. The staff need training across the board.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Driving so soft drinks only ! Service was brilliant as was seating. Food arrived in good order from happy waitress. Good value and who could wish for a better surrounding than the river Avon by the Batheaston/Bathampton toll bridge!

Lovely venue, easy to get a table, we booked last minute - great location. Had the Sunday roasts and they were great, giant Yorkshire puddings and meat cooked nice - I highly recommend the pork. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were brilliant throughout, Hattie who served us was so helpful and lovely. Despite having a very busy area she always made us feel looked after. My only small feedback for the venue would be some of the tables needed a bit of TLC from a wobbly point of view! Thank you for a lovely Sunday lunch

The worst meal! Would give less than 1 star! We went for dinner on Saturday night to catch up with family and we should have gone somewhere else! We were so disappointed! Before I explain why it was so bad, know that it was super quiet and that should have been a sign. We waited around for ages for someone to greet and sit us. We waited ages for our drinks and even longer for our food. When the food eventually arrived it my meal along with my father in laws was totally inedible. I chose the pasta which was so dry like it had been sat under the heat lamp for an hour. I finally got someone’s attention who then took it away only to present me with the SAME plate of food 2 seconds later. I asked them to take it away and didn’t end up having any food as the whole situation took so long everyone else has pretty much finished eating. To be fair all our meals were diabolical it wasn’t just mine. Everything was dry and incredibly OVER PRICED! I can’t express how angry I feel that it cost us nearly £300 for 7 of us to have a meal. The waitress brought over our bill to proudly announce she had removed my pasta (that I didn’t eat) from the bill as if she did us a favour. This place is always hit and miss but it is safe to say we will absolutely NOT be returning and I would suggest it’s only a place to have a pint in the garden when it’s hot otherwise AVOID AVOID AVOID!!

We came for a Sunday roast and we were more than impressed by this pub. The garden is lovely, the staff fantastic and there is an overall great ambience. The food was very good and provided a couple of vegetarian options which were great. We were served by Hattie who was very enthusiastic and couldn’t have made our experience any better. Very impressed and will be visiting again soon!

I joined up with some old school friends to have lunch at the Mill on Tuesday 11th June. There were 13 of us and three of us ordered the fish and chips which was very disappointing. The batter around the fish was far too much and we could barely find any fish which one of my friends described as anaemic looking. The chips were dry. The puddings which were included in the two course option were rather strange. Some of us had reasonably standard portions and others half of a minute tart.

Atmosphere is so refreshing and almost festive. You are spoilt for choice for seating. Of course the weather was full of sunshine which is a plus. We shared a perfect pizza. And it was my birthday.

Came here a couple of weeks ago with friends couldn't fault the meal it was cooked to perfection. Yesterday was another story guy serving was very polite and attentive although service was slow, the long island cocktails were to die for we ordered 2 salt and pepper squid for starter it was so overcooked we were unable to cut it it was like soft yellow crackling we sent it back the waiter said do you want it cooked longer we said no it's over cooked the brought out a replacement which was cooked to perfection. Main courses were cod and chorizo fishcakes and fish and chips the fishcakes were almost black on the bottom and the batter on the fish was so thick and hard it shot off the plate when it was cut the fish inside had pretty much disappeared into the batter where it was so overcooked so my husband left it the waitress came over and said would you like dessert we were looking forward to a small dessert and hot drinks but after the disaster of the mains we didn't bother my husband told her about the fishcakes and the fish she said I'll tell the chef. She brought the bill and my husband asked what the chef had said apparently he said there's something wrong with the oil we could have told him that clearly the oil was either too hot or he left it in the oil too long. The bill was £52 which would have been fine if the meal was edible but given the situation it was well overpriced. Such a shame as the restaurant and surroundings are beautiful.

I have visited The Bathampton Mill numerous times. This time was 7/6/24. I must be having different experiences from some others who have written reviews. I was there with my wife. I had a starter and a main, whilst my wife had fish and chips....and pinched some of my starter! The food was excellent, I couldn't fault it. I chose scallops as an add on with my meal and they were cooked to perfection. There was no greasy batter covering the cod and the chips were very nice. The staff bringing our food out were very efficient, attentive, polite, well mannered and professional. I spoke with Olly who was working behind the bar, (just as hard as everyone else!), and asked him to pass our thanks to all staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending Bathampton Mill and will be returning there from Bristol myself. Its one of my favourite places to eat. Oh.....the beer is excellent too!

Really enjoyed my experience at the Bathampton mill, we went for dinner to celebrate my little brother’s birthday. The food was immaculate and my brother really enjoyed his sea bass fillet. We were looked after by Maria who was very attentive and friendly. A very nice scenic pub with a good atmosphere, highly recommend!!

Last Xmas we had an awful Christmas Day meal at the Bathampton's sister restaurant in Bristol - The Ashton. We were given £75 to spend in compensation SO finally got to use them at The Bathampton Mill. The location is a delight and the service is quite good - courteous and swift. The pub has undergone a lovely refurbishment. My wine - Old Coach Road Pinot - was delicious. Sunday lunches - I had the pork. Dry ... tasteless ... Yorkshire was as hard as a cricket bad ... vegetable not bad ... roasties rather damp (like the weather) ... disappointed ... as were the tables either side of us .. Desserts & coffee were a rather lovely end to the meal. Mitchells & Butler needs to sort out its high-end eateries - HATE to think what the lesser brands are like ...

Went here with my dad and was greeted so warmly by everyone there. We were served by Maria who was really attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and the views were nice with the weather. Highly recommend the steak! Would go here again as despite being so busy, the staff were still on point with what they were doing, ensuring we had a pleasant visit.

Last Sunday I came with my family for lunch and our server Izzy made our experience at bath Hampton mill lovely. We will be coming again with good food and excellent service making our afternoon lunch very good. She was so positive and kind and went out of her way to make sure it was fit to our needs. Our service was also fast and felt very personalised. We really enjoyed our experience and are very thankful for such a lovely waitress.

A very nice pub with a great atmosphere. There are lots of seating options, inside and outside with a lovely view of the river. When we arrived we were immediately shown to our table by our waitress Isobel, who was very attentive and always served us with a very friendly smile, so we had a great time. The food was cooked perfectly and was very delicious. We will definitely come back soon.

Our server Isobel Argent truly made our meal, my son has a food allergy and she was very accommodating and didn’t make him feel awkward at all. We will definitely be returning soon!

Had late lunch here today food good but long wait for us didn't matter we were chilling. Food was very good however lack of customer care let everything down. Staff looked sad depressed no smile no welcome. Tables not clean, spray bottle left on table with jcloth. Glass piled up on table behind us.Had to ask for salt and pepper virtually thrown at us ! Butter knife for meat would expect stesk knife simple stuff really.Not one Staff asked if all ok, meal nice etc totally disinterested never experienced such coldness in the hospitality industry. 🙈🙈💩💩 Sad really as food good but atmosphere dire . Been to this pub before and very disappointed in customer care today clearly a line management issue

Nice pint in a scenic location by the river

We stopped by spontaneously and got a seat in the pub area. The ambience blends well between modern and rustic, but the service was a little ambivalent. One person seemed a little unmotivated, but the second person seemed very friendly and helpful. The food was of good quality, my burger was ok, as was my wife's panzanella salad. Quite a solid shop.

Food was excellent, but the staff was terrible ! We got mistaken with this pub and the george inn down the road which allow you to stay in their carpark over night in a camper.... we had food which come to £150 drank aload of alcohol and got ready to sleep in the carpark and at 11pm at night we were rudely woken up to a banging on the motorhome door with staff shouting at us to get outof the carpark even though it was empty and you can stay there for 24 hours for free..... I then had to get out of bed get dressed and drink drive to the george inn to be able to sleep ! An absolute joke and a disgrace to the staff and pub from a simple mistake of not knowing we could sleep in the carpark ! Wish I never spent £150 on a meal now ! Was planning on having breakfast and another meal the next night but definitely not going back ever again now ! NOT A GOOD WAY TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS !

The location by the river is very pretty and Bathampton Mill is a lovely building with a great atmosphere. Food choices and quality were fantastic and the staff were very good. Toilet facilities are next level! Easily one of the best pubs we have ever been to.

I visited Bathampton Mill with some family for a late Sunday lunch. It's been a very long time since I've last visited, so I was impressed when I walked through the door and saw a very inviting and modern pub. We were shown to our table and looked after by Amy, who was very friendly and attentive. The food was very good, I opted for a Sunday Roast, and it had everything you would want (and more!). The meat was cooked very well, and there were plenty of roast potatoes and vegetables. For dessert I opted for a rather decadent Chocolate Brownie which was delicious. The pub had a nice vibe, and there was plenty of places to sit, both inside and outside in their garden overlooking the river. Overall, I had a very enjoyable visit, and I will certainly return in the summer to have a drink or two in their garden.
