What a shambles !!! Given menus when order being taken half of food run out - why the hell weren’t we told or taken off menu Sent steaks back as food cold then obviously had been put in microwave or back on grill as when brought back steak tough & well done - asked for medium rare !!!! These steaks were costing £ 30 😳 Then had to search four tables for salt all salt cellars empty As we were leaving I went to toilet to find excrement floating in bowl told bar man who said he’d pass information on !!! An Other table had sent meals back too Steaks were taken off bill but I felt really uncomfortable with complaining as general I’m pretty easy going believe it or not 🤪 The young Resturant staff were very sweet but obviously found it difficult to deal with complaints bless x Did tip waiting staff

Overpriced poor quality food. The fish and halloumi and chips batter was pale and soggy, the pastry on the pie was like a brick, small portions. Artisan bread was £7 and was basically white toast only toasted on one side. Definitely wouldnt recommend. Very expensive drinks and food don't waste your money

An enjoyable experience including the ' meet and greet' we received, table service and, quality of facilities Prices appear to be on line with those in the Bath area. Great outside setting / facilities when the weather permits. Recommend booking in advance.

We came for lunch with my husband. Food except the steak I ordered medium rare came rare , everything else was good. I was impressed with our waiter. He was exceptionally kind and professional. Why I don't give five stars, because he worked at the bar and at the same time took our order, made the drinks and didn't even have time to ask how the food was, which is the fault of the management team. In the restaurant where another 6-7 tables, which make to provide good service for the price of the menu you have impossible. Thank you Adrian you were great!!!

All food was excellent, with attentive staff too. Didn’t take too long for anything. Would say the desserts were a little pricey, if I was being picky!

Very good dinner. 3 courses that was very well cooked and nice presentation. Something for all tastes and budgets with specials also available. Service was attentive but not over the top. Location is fab just outside of town next to the river. We went back the next day for a drink so we could take in the scenery in daylight. Great atmosphere, top service, would recommend.

Farida was a brilliant hostess, and the food was delicious. We had the Dine with Wine menu, and it was all absolutely lovely. We will be back!

We ate there at 3.30 on the way to 7.00 theatre in Bath so quiet as expected. We had scallops and calamari to start. 4 large delicious scallops served with crispy pancetta. Probably one of the best starters Ive ever had and we eat out a little. Followed by orawn and scallop linguine with chorizo. Absoldelicious. My husband had belly of pork which he said was fantastic. We shared a sticky toffee pudding which did not disappoint. Altogether a superb diding experience. Couldnt fault it.

We came to the Bathampton Mill for drinks and food and the service was 10/10 - Adrian was serving us and he was amazing.

Great location by the river. My 1st visit and a little disappointed that they weren't doing pizza, which limited my choices as I'm a non meat eater. Chose fish and chips, and while the fish was perfect, chips were a little hard still. Overall though, a pleasant meal.

Popped into Bathampton Mill after a lovely walk along the river for a couple of drinks and some picky bits of food. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff called Adrian who sat us by the gorgeous open fire and he looked after us throughout. I would recommend this establishment and would like to thank Adrian for making us feel so welcome. 🙂

Oh dear. As many reviews on here say, drinks are good and bar staff friendly but the food is diabolical! Not sure why the manager bothers to reply to these negative reviews about this same issue but never does anything to fix it - like firing the kitchen staff and hiring good ones led by a qualified and experienced chef. Ordered a sharing roast. They’d run out of chicken so said they would replace that with extra beef but didn’t. Plates to eat the roast from were far too small. Had to ask for the gravy and cauliflower cheese as it failed to materialise after 5 minutes. Roast potatoes tasteless, Yorkshire pudding dry and overdone, gravy tasted like Bisto / from a packet, crackling chewy and inedible, not crunchy. £50 down the drain. Totally over priced. The only positives are front of house staff, drinks, dog friendly, they had a table available and the large free car park. Also if approaching from Bath you have to pay a £1 toll each way to cross the private bridge along from the pub. Live in Bath but won’t be visiting again.

Great pub, and the food was delicious. Set against the river, there is a large car park and outside seating for alfresco eating. It was dark when I visited, so I didn't get a feel for the whole outside area. The prices were reasonable, surprised to see 20% vat on the bill. However well worth a visit.

After my morning dog walk, I decided to pop in for a quick coffee. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt so comfortable and welcomed that I couldn’t resist staying for lunch. Lucy greeted me at the door with a warm smile and took great care of me throughout my visit. When my steak sandwich arrived cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. Oliver the barman, poured a perfect Guinness to go with it. The combination of great service, delicious food, and a stunning riverside setting made for an unforgettable experience. I’ll definitely be back soon! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Headed to the place straight after a 13 hour shift and was welcomed warmly by staff working. Food was good, worth the price. But the staff on shift (11/01/25, 9pm) were really good and accommodating. Shoutout to Trese who was really lovely.

Came for a quiet Saturday evening meal and to chill, the service from Lucy, Sid and Trese was top notch! They were really friendly and cheerful, my dirty burger was wonderful and cooked to absolute perfection, definitely recommend coming here again.

Visited for Sunday lunch with the grandchildren the food was fantastic and nothing was to much trouble for the waiting staff will definitely be back at the next opportunity

Visited Bathampton Mill after new year as a large party. The bar staff were good and very professional. That’s the only reason I gave 2 stars. The rest was dreadful. The food was poor, dry fish, like a ready meal and cold. It was expensive for what it was. Portions were small and poor quality. Very slow to come out and came out in dribs and drabs. One person still waiting 45 minutes after the rest had finished. We went here after a lovely experience 10 years ago. Won’t be going back in a hurry!

Me and my extended family have come to Bathampton Mill on 1st January for the last 3 years and have always enjoyed the ambience, staff and food but this year we all said how disappointing the food was., We were given the menus and were left for a considerable amount time and when we came to order were told that items on the menu were not available, surely we should have been told prior to choosing our food! We had starters but then had to wait ages for our main courses, we asked the waiter to check the timings as we had been waiting so long. My daughter and I had the salad and this was pitiful, tasteless, watery, no dressing and the meat we had (beef and chicken) was dry. You used to do a lovely Buddha Bowel which was delicious. My Mum and brother had the Pork belly, both said it was cooked well and tasty but for the price the pork belly was small and they would have expected more vegetables other than a small amount of potato and half a carrot each! Chips with the fish and chips were soggy and not cooked properly. The chicken burger was dry and my husband paid £4.50 extra for a side salad which was tiny, tasteless and again had no dressing.. Really disappointed and not the way we had hoped to celebrate the New Year! Sadly food seems to have gone down hill. Such a shame as such a lovely pub.

Food a bit disappointing for the price

Hate writing a bad review of this place as its great for drinks and most of the staff are lovely. This review is about the awful food experience only. Sadly the last time I came and ate here was equally bad. The first time was in the summer when the terrible area manager overfilled the restaurant to get the 'best days sales' sadly for him it was mainly refunded and many free drinks given out. Well last night 30th December he was back, again he overfilled the place with only one chef on duty! We ordered two dirty burgers, the only difference between this burger and the standard cheeseburger is bacon mayonnaise, pulled beef brisket., and the five pound price difference, the dirty burger being £20.95, so it had better be perfect! It was dreadful. The staff were concerned that they didn't have any beef brisket so checked with the area manager and chef. They said they had two portions left. Well, when the burgers came out they had a spread of brisket like probably a quarter of a gram. I queried this with the area manager and without even looking he said "oh they usually mix it with the cheese" and started to walk off. I called him back and showed him the crumbs of beef brisket which had been mixed with melted cheap burger cheese (not the advertised Raclet cheese), and he begrudgingly took it away. Previously to this I had heard him swearing at the bar and shouting "jesus christ" when a dog barked. I'm not prude but this could of upset others. All of the bad reviews on this page started when his employment started. Get rid and give the staff a break, this in turn will improve the food standards. The lovely team deserve this.

The best thing about this pub is it's situation on the River Avon. When ordering the staff didn't seem to know what a "beer" was and had to look at the menu to find which ales they had. The service was extremely slow and when the meals arrived some of the portions were very small. One scallop dish contained grit and there were mouldy grapes on the cheese and biscuits platter for which we had a refund after complaining. Very expensive for the service and quality received. Will not be returning.

A winning location and a nice old building let down by iffy food and patchy service. Plus points: - I was able to book a table same day without issue. - Parking is effectively free (once you enter your reg number). - Staff are friendly and helpful. Negatives: - Service was sluggish at points, with a lengthy delay between starters being cleared away and mains appearing. - Several drinks options (ales) had run out. - Food was passable at best. My and my BiL's mains were notable for the paucity of things on the plate (sides such as vegetables evidently need to be ordered separately). There was grit in my BiL's scallops and his cheese plate dessert included a mouldy grape. The latter issue was dealt with well by the wait staff/manager (apology, offer of replacement, dish not charged on bill), but it speaks to a lack of quality/thoroughness in the kitchen.

Great effort to open the pub before xmas, we had xmas dinner for 9 and it was excellent, service was good and considering such a short time to prepare an amazibg effort, well done all Haberfield's and Stephens

As predicted despite my wife registering her car registration number at reception before having a lunch with friends, she has just received a parking fine! This is the second time over two visits over 2 years to the restaurant; each time we registered the car licence plate details and each time we have received a fine! What is the point of registering our car registration number at the reception to the restaurant if each time we then get hit with a truly exorbitant parking fine?? I tried calling the pub and every time I call it goes to the voicemail. This place SERIOUSLY needs to get a rein on the car park operator as two out of two is completely unacceptable!!!

Could have been so good because the menu and building were excellent but no exscuse for having a very cold restaurant where heating opportunities were not used fully utilised, outside doors left open and fires allowed to go out early in the evening Such a shame and I am sure (hope ) not typical. Some unfortunate experiances with food and cold red wine too.

Roast dinner was average at best. Cold veg and a very strange veggie wellington which looked like a pie. Potatoes were ok

We went for a Sunday roast and I got the beef. I don’t think I’ve ever complained at a restaurant before but the beef so was chewy that I both couldn’t cut it with a sharp knife and when I got a piece off I was chewing solidly for 10 minutes. We didn’t get a discount off even though the waitress agreed the beef was not as it should have been . Other food wasn’t great either, vegetables didn’t have much flavour etc. would recommend going elsewhere!

Out for a walk and popped in for lunchtime soup. Waited 15 minutes to be served although not busy. Very small portion of soup although tasty. Won't be back! So disappointing for such a lovely location.

absolutely lovely staff especially Adrian, maya and Sid. However the toilets are atrocious, one of the toilets will continually run water after flushing which is awful for the environment and has apparently been an ongoing issue that upper management is yet to fix. despite this, the food was great and the staff members mentioned were very welcoming and friendly!

Came for Sunday lunch. We went for the sharing roast quite expensive at £48. We were waiting for a while, 40 minutes. Food came out looked good, but it was lukewarm, I asked for more gravy to see if this warmed it up, but sadly not. We have been before but sadly we wouldn’t for food again.

Been a regular here for years and never been disappointed until now. The portions have shrunk, the presentation lost its appetising appearance, looked a little lost on plate. When you've been a regular you know what you are expecting to see on the plate! Hoping it was just a one off bad night!

I had a really disappointing experience at Bathampton Mill today at lunchtime where the food was brilliant, but the service was just awful. My family had travelled quite far to see us and we had heard lovely things about this place so we thought we’d check it out for lunch. It started off well and we were promptly served our drinks and mains. However once we had finished our mains, there was absolutely no table service. We waited for 45 minutes for our pudding, even though we had already ordered it with the mains. The kids got their ice cream, but the adults were completely ignored. On top of that, they didn’t clear our plates, which we had stacked ourselves, making us feel completely invisible. It was so embarrassing and frustrating because the food was fantastic, but the appalling service ruined the whole experience. I honestly can't recommend this place based on how let down we felt.

Wow! The food was absolutely amazing and the restaurant had such a great vibe as soon as you walked in. We went for Sunday lunch and we all said that this was probably the best meal we had sampled in a long time. My son went for the T-bone steak off the specials board and he said it was cooked to perfection , and although I was spoilt for choice with a very comprehensive menu I went for the traditional roast and I wasn’t disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. It was incredibly busy and yes we had to wait a while for drinks but the waiting staff were rushed off their feet as it was a packed house and I can see why. This really is a hidden gem and the picturesque surroundings made it all that little bit special. Can’t wait to go back and would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely meal at Bathampton Mill today, 1st time, coming here. Adrian was our server and was very attentive and super friendly. Matt the chef today, provide lovely food. We ordered from the main a la carte menu. The set menu was nice, responsibly priced but not as enticing. We had hoped our sharing platter of Raclette fondue was slightly more generous. But overall a really lovely lunch.

Well! What an absolutely fantastic birthday lunch we enjoyed today at The Bathampton Mill, courtesy of the vivacious and enchanting Farida, for whom no request was too much. We had some issues with the main courses, but the attentive grace and thoughtfulness of Farida meant that they were happily resolved. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheerfully family-oriented, with a lovely decor and very comfortable furniture. The restaurant was busy, but we felt no stress or fluster from Farida and the other staff. Our desserts went down a treat, and we left smiling and delighted. Our enjoyment was a testament to the fact that a fabulous server can make all the difference to a dining experience, because eating out should never be just about the food. Thank you to all the welcoming and charming staff, but thank you especially to dear Farida! Simon and family.

Really thought the roast would be better. Good yorkshires and vegan wellington (which was really a pie), but the cauli cheese and roast spuds were pretty bland sadly, and the spuds weren't crispy either, disappointing.

It's at the end of the line for the Avon cruise from Bath - you start at a weir & turn round at the next one! A really peaceful hour or so gently navigating the Avon whilst being served a hot or cold beverage of your choice, tea, coffee &/or alcohol 😁👍. Worth the money for the views from the river, with the commentary from a very knowledgeable local guide adding to the whole experience. We were lucky that we had fabulous weather so could imagine it would be different in inclement weather but we loved it 😍.

This review is regarding the restaurant only. Farida provided excellent customer service and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The food was ok, but to be honest, it needs a bit of refinement and appreciation for attention to detail. I was unimpressed at being informed the chef could not accommodate mine and my mother's request to provide custard with our desserts instead of ice cream. How much extra effort would it have really been? 5-10 mins maximum to make from scratch.

The meal was, as usual, delicious and Farida, our waitress, was extremely attentive, very polite and friendly.
