Found this place on booking.com for an overnight stay for a wedding in one of the adjacent villages. We contacted them to see if we could check in slightly earlier as the wedding started during the orginal check in time , response time was quick and there was no issue. There was a bit of a stress during to find a car parking space and a taxi to the wedding venue but they helped us with both finding a nearby car park and also a lift to the venue for a small charge which we were most greatful for. The room was clean , vintage decour and a beautiful view over the river. Besides the couple above us being very loud all night which is out of the hotels control we had a pleasent stay and would return.

Lovely setting by river, nice outside seating. Waited about 30 minutes for food. It looked lovely but unfortunately my fish wasn’t cooked. I was informed all food is temperature probed, I use a probe, it is a guide not an exact measurement. I declined a replacement meal as my husband was eating and I wasn’t prepared to wait again. I accepted a refund and was advised that it was unfortunate I got a bad piece of fish. My husband said his meal was ok, Disappointing all round really. Bridgnorth is the most miserable place I’ve ever visited from the railway staff to the coffee shop in the Main Street to the pub by the river.

The food here is amazing, we had a mixture between us of pizza, chicken goujons, pulled pork burger, scampi and each of us really enjoyed it, the plates were all clear!! The location is perfect, looking over the river and the service is spot on. We just keep wanting to go back. Thank you

If it wasn’t for the great location this place would have long since disappeared. Because of its location they must get enough passing trade to sustain the business, because no one who appreciates good food and hygiene would go twice.

Very limited menu. The food tasted lovely but £6.95 for kids fish and chips is extortionate. The fish wasn’t much bigger than a fish finger. Also the young girl waitress serving in see though shorts no bigger than a pair of knickers isn’t very appropriate.

Lovely spot however terrible service let it down massively. Waited a hour and half for 2 kids meals and 2 adults meals. When it finally came after asking a few times how long it was going to be they missed one of the kids meals. So had a very hungry daughter having to wait more time yet again. No apology. My Lasagne was more cheese than anything else and Luke warm. My partners chicken wrap came with about 6 curly fries which is surprising given the price. My garlic bread was still frozen so had to send back and asked for some more. Once it came back it was burnt to a crisp and rock hard but I had given up at this point. I feel like our order was missed then quickly rushed when I asked how long, the pub was not busy with people eating so just can not understand why it took so long and why the food was below average. Not 1 apology for any of this. Will not be visiting this place again put abit of a downer on our family day, and the prices are not cheap either.

Dropped in for a couple of pints on a day out at Bridgnorth, bar staff were very friendly. We were sat outside and although we didn't have food, it was obvious they were keeping the tables well cleaned in between customers. Recommended.

Visited at short notice on Thursday 12th with a group of 11 people for something to eat, they just about to close the kitchen but agreed to stay open so we could get some food, and it was well worth it. The choices were pizza or burgers which we all agreed were fantastic, I had the pepperoni pizza with jalapeños and I must say it was the best I've had in a long time 10/10. So thanks too the kitchen for staying open a bit longer, much appreciated. When next in the area I know where to go for a pizza, also the Cornish lager was excellent. Recommended without doubt.

A lovely outside patio setting overlooking the river Severn Very restricted Menu though - Pizza or Burgher, presented unpretentiously in polystyrene takeaway boxes to eat at table. No plates but cutlery and condiments available on request. Good efficient waitress service. Average quality food, average value for money considering the location. OK if you like a great setting to eat out of a takeaway box

Popped in at 12 o’clock on Sunday for a bite to eat. Could not have felt more welcome. All the staff went above and beyond to greet you. Outdoor patio overlook the River Severn and is pleasantly quirky. Super dog friendly. Good selection of gin. I went for the blood orange. Nice glasses. That’s a big thing for me at pubs. Basic menu but that was exactly what we were looking for. We chose a pizza each and a side of curly fries and skin on fries. Both fresh and crispy. The pizza bases tasted home made. They were served in pizza takeaway boxes which was a) practical and b) useful for taking the leftovers home. The fries came in polystyrene trays. This is not haute cuisine but good, simple food. The view from the patio is gorgeous over the river.

Three adults and 2 children visited for lunch. Very limited menu, just pizza and burgers. Sadly not very good quality, a large piece of lettuce and tomato plonked on the top. No coleslaw or relish of any sort. Served in boxes, not sure why this is necessary, even with covid, other restaurants manage to use plates and cutlery and pop them in the washer. Expensive for what it was.

Called in today for bite to eat. We were barely acknowledged by the barman, who is probably in the wrong job. The garden and outside space is very attractive , overlooking the Severn, makes it a perfect location....the food? disappointing obviously made down to a price, my sausage in my sandwich was flavourless and obviously the bucket end of cheap, I would have thought there might have been a garnish of salad..but no. On the upside the ciabatta, whilst very stogie and lifeless, filled a cavity in a tooth, so a positive there. Will certainly give this place a miss next time.

We stayed in Bassa Villa for a few days holiday with our small dog. He was made welcome and was allowed in the bar and gardens. The pub is old and has lots of charm including a narrow windy staircase so you need to be able to use it. It’s Ideally placed for the cliff railway and the Severn Valley Railway. The downside was No breakfast and as most places didn’t open until ten we struggled to get anything before that. Overall a nice stay with friendly staff.

We were stopping in Bridgnorth with a large group of friends and a few of us decided to call in here for a drink on Saturday night and soon wished we hadn't.The place itself was very nice inside, obviously some thought had gone into the decor. That being one of the reasons why we went in.The beer was nice but the way it was pulled by the barmaid meant it was flat. The behaviour of the clientele was totally unacceptable. The extreme bad language being shouted out was unchallenged by any of the staff. So much so that we quickly finished our drink and left. Even on the way out rude comments were being made towards us, once again unchallenged by the staff.Still had a good night though as we went in a couple of other pubs where we were made to feel welcome and the staff had pride in their work.If you have children I would definitely avoid this pub. As I said early, the language being used was totally unacceptable.

Stayed here with friends for 2 nights. The rooms (1st floor) were both very clean, with the olde worlde image we enjoy, although the staircase is very steep and narrow - not recommended for anyone with mobility problems or a large suitcase! Our room - Room 1 - had fantastic views, and the bed was firm and comfortable, although there were no toiletries for the shower and the bathroom was very cramped although this is understandable in such an old property! Unfortunately on our first night we were woken by loud voices and stomping across the floor from 2 am til 4am from the room upstairs, as (typical for a building of this period) there is no soundproofing! The second night was a great improvement, after mentioning this to the manager. Arriving on the Monday, the downstairs pub/bar/restaurant(?) was closed, and on the Tuesday I was advised it was only open until about 9.30pm. No breakfast was available, so we walked uphill into the town for this. Although there was no parking on site, we were able to park over the bridge, behind the Falcon hotel - we were initially worried that the machine said payment was until 4 am, but the tickets actually are covered for 24 hrs and this is shown on them! At £1.50 a day (with a refund if you buy a meal in the Falcoln) it's well worth the few minutes' walk over the bridge!

Booked a room via Booking.com for a Surprise Valentine stay over for a Wednesday evening. My Mother was taken into Hospital 'that evening' so we could not attend the booking. I emailed Booking.com, Bassa Villa and also called, explaining the situation.I understand there is a cancellation policy of course, but no concession or alternative stay was offered.Bassa Villa even stated that Booking.com, had already 'taken the payment' but this was not the case, the payment was taken by Bassa Villa on the evening of our stay!Even booking.com called me to see if my Mother was OK following my explanation of not completing my stay, but I had no concern or compassion from the Property, I travel a lot through work and have always managed a refund when circumstances change. Probably best paying Booking.com directly in future, I may have had some level of recompense.Dissapointed! Moms fine BTW!

Took our 3 grandchildren on Severn Valley Railway and was looking for a place for lunch, decided to go here as we were totally exhausted after walk down from the train. It was relatively clean and tidy, ordered food and drinks. As we had our twin grandsons aged 23 months I asked the assistant manager if they had baby changing facilities and no they didn't neither did they have disabled toilets, I found that amazing especially as they catered for little ones and had a highchair, the respons was "this is 15th century inn". Food arrived was ok but nothing special and was not cheap. Fortunately we will not be back to frequent this pub.

We visited this place to go and watch an elvis tribute, stayed 2 nights, 1st morning we had breakfast, Mrs went up before me, and when she opened the door, our little Yorkie ran out looking for me, he was fine, but I mentioned it on the 2nd night, the night we were going to the concert, I asked if I could leave my mobile number incase the dogs started baking (other one is a rescue pup). We said we didn't want them to go in the room as the dogs wouldn't know them. They wouldn't take my number, and when we came back, could hear the dogs barking. There were dog treats on the floor that we don't use, so they let themselves in despite us asking them not to. The rescue pup was sick so don't know what they gave her, anyway, it's a violation of privacy, we paid £140 for 2 nights, and don't expect then to go in our room when we asked them not to. We even got a knock on the door from someone clutching a toilet roll, I think to see if we were in but who knows? Anyway, last morning we were gone for 06 20.didn't hang about for breakfast.

We decided to take a two night break in Bridgnorth because it looked very quaint and picturesque. It certainly was. We stayed at the Bassa Villa and had a really nice time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We even had an excellent cooked breakfast sitting by the river in their pub garden. Great weather for it too. The room was a decent size and dated from the 1600s, so it was very old but had 21st century touches. The bed was a little narrow for two people but OK. The bathroom had a walk in shower, sink and toilet which was fine. The location is great because it sits alongside the Severn river. They have probably 10-15 picnic tables for outside eating and its location, in Low town, is ideal for the cable railway to High town and alongside the main river bridge. We also watched the otter catching fish each evening whilst having a drink. All in all a very enjoyable stay and a decent price. Complements to the owners and staff for their friendliness and help. I stayed here 22nd August 2015, with a friend as we decided to get a day ticket to V Festival and this was the closest available hotel. The room was clean, and an average size though decorated very old fashioned. The bathroom door was like a barn door which the top and bottom could open separately, had wholes in so whilst you were sat on the toilet you could still see inside the room. Which obviously made me feel uncomfortable. The door also got stuck as you opened it and made a loud noise so wasn't ideal if the other person was asleep. The pipework made noises after the water was used. When we checked in we were not informed of the check out time, or given much guidance as to the surroundings of the hotel. Just shown to the room and informed which key was for which door.Overall an average stay.

We were attracted by the outside space which is very nice overlooking the river. However that is where the attraction stops! I've never been served such disgusting food! The steak was poor quality and the excuse of a pepper sauce, £2 EXTRA!!, literally water!!! The gammon was was too salty and the plate was swimming in oily water which had to be mopped up with the serviette! The battered fish was well - battered! The gammon was short of ingredients listed on the menu - no onion rings, no tomato and when we asked for a poached egg the answer was can't poach eggs!! Now this is ridiculous! To summarise do not eat at this pub! If you do, be it at your own peril you've been warned! Also check out the owners copy and pasted replies, no idea of customer relations. We stayed at the Bassa Villa 3 weeks after the new owners had taken over and what a fabulous stay it was. We read some of the reviews on Trip adviser prior to out visit and the new owners have turned the place around and into a wonderful place to stay. The location, right on the river, was fantastic and a drink in the terrace watching the wildlife was so relaxing. The hotel was clean, our room ( Room 1) was enormous and overlooked the river and the terrace. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked and presented. The bar served a cask ale ( which made me very happy ) and the staff were friendly, accommodating and couldn't do enough for you. We shall certainly look for availability here as our first choice when we next visit Bridgenorth

We had a great stay at the Bassa! Really friendly, polite staff! They couldn't do enough and that's what great customer service is all about isn't it?!? Amazing setting right on the river.....one of their 'well known' pizza's with a glass of vino overlooking that river. What more could you ask for! Go visit! You won't regret it :-).

Firstly I'll start with the positives. The setting, overlooking the River Severn in Bridgnorth is excellent. From my mixed grill the chips were thickly cut and tasty and the steak was cooked as I had requested. Also the staff member was apologetic and offered both of us a free pudding when I pointed out the problems with my food. Now the negatives. Unfortunately this will take longer. Apart from the above items the rest of the mixed grill was a disaster. The gammon was salty and overcooked, burnt in places, the onion rings dry and tasteless, the mushrooms tiny and shrivelled, the sausage virtually cremated and the hash brown nuked to within an inch of its life. When I told the staff member how disappointed I was they offered my partner and me a free pudding. I chose treacle sponge and custard and my other half requested the chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. Sadly the policy of thoroughly overcooking the food also included the puddings. My microwaved sponge was hard in the middle as it had been cooked for too long and bizarrely my partner's chocolate cake had also been microwaved and the icing was melted and stuck to the plate. If you fancy a drink by the river then this could be a good choice. However if you want something to eat give this place a miss until the chef (and I use the word very advisedly) learns how to properly use the microwave.

This is a lovely setting, outdoor garden by the river. Service attentive and friendly, but the roast dinners, beef and chicken, were one of the worst I have ever had. The burger, on the other hand, looked good and got the thumbs up from one of our diners.

Came here a couple of years ago and it was lovely. The beer garden is great and had been done up a bit , looked great . Got a pint and ordered a " plough mans lunch " The Landlady was very friendly and welcoming . Our beer tasted of chemicals and we had to change it for something else . Ok , these things happen. The ploughmans lunch was bizarre . the cheese selection included " Babybel". There was no pickle , no salad as standard and our sliced baton bread was rock hard and obviously had be cut the day before !........No care taken in food preparation at all felt ripped off , didn't complain as we were starving and the supermarket cheese and Ham were edible. For £ 9.95 the food was awful compared to the delicious ploughmans I had at the Port William inn in Cornwall last week for the same price ....Please do something .

Went for lunch on Friday, beautiful location next to the river, lovely outside area where tables are situated. Ordered jacket potatoes with tuna, when they arrived they were horrible, the white potato was a brown colour and tasted stale, as if they had been cooked several hours ago and for far too long. Didn't actually complain cos whoever cut the potatoes to put the filling in knew what they looked like and obviously see that as ok for their standards! Wouldn't return for food, lesson learned!

Went here on Sunday evening and ordered two Sunday roasts, 1 beef and 1 chicken. Plates came with unappetising dried meat, dirty looking boiled potatoes and burnt Yorkshire pudding. The lump of chicken was bland and the beef tasted off and had a weird colour and on a second mouthful was promptly spat out. We ate a few vegetables and then decided it was best for us to leave the food and the premises. Such a shame as it was a lovely setting by the river.

We've just had a lovely week in sunny Bridgnorth where we spent many lazy happy hours at Bassa Villa. Reading other reviews I wonder if they went to the same place, we found the food great and Hayley and Katherine excellent hosts who always found time to welcome us. Our favourite place too for watching the antics of geese and greens. Can't wait to return.

We travelled over an hour from Market Drayton just to visit the pub and we can safely say that the atmosphere was first class and the landlady was very warm and welcoming, we couldn't have really asked for anymore from the place. We also sat down and had a meal in the lovely beer garden by the river and yet again, the service we received was first rate, well worth going back to again and again!

Terrible service as we entered as my mother called it' perfect service without a smile' then took forever to arrive, when it did the bread was mouldy stale and the 'dressed side salad' was a bit of yellow iceburg lettice, was a shame as the scenery was so beautiful - sandwich making isn't rocket science but you would of it was. Do not recommend.

We visited the Bassa Villa a few weeks back & booked again on leaving. We had another fantastic time. The staff are wonderful & can not do enough for you. We ate outside looking over the river & it was fantastic, the food was beautifully cooked & presented but we could not quite finish it all as the portion was so generous (not that we're complaining!) we have a found a real treasure here in Bridgenorth now with this place & intend on being regular visitors, thank you Bassa Villa

A sunny day in Bridgnorth,as 4 locals we were looking for a bit of sun and light lunch. Having visited the bassa many times over the years we were keen to enjoy the beautiful beer garden and atmosphere. And that's where it stopped. We arrived at the bar, although they were busy there seemed to be no real rush to serve us(frustrating at the best of times) After looking at the extensive menu we decided upon chicken burgers and salad. Averaging at £10 per meal, our empty tummies were eagerly anticipating our food. Disapointed is an understatement. What arrived was a lack lustre portion of simple badly created food. A sweaty burger bun led to a HALF piece of chicken breast and nothing more. 6 curly fries and a little salad. The menu said it came with coleslaw but it must of seen the state of the rest of the food and made a break for it. Abismal portions, standard was shocking and it seems that they have taken on a little bit more than they can chew. Shame for such a lovely location and previous owners hard work. Avoid unless drink in the sun. VERY...VERY frustrated and Disapointed locals.

Myself and my partner use to regularly go here last summer, loved sitting out with the great views of the River Severn in the beer garden, lots of seating, large tree light up with lights, great atmosphere. Over the winter we kept saying how excited we were for the summer so we could enjoy this lovely bar again.....what a difference 7 months makes!! I don't know if there are new owners or the staff/management but somethings missing. Instead of having a lovely beer garden (used to be the best in Bridgnorth), it's now a car park where staff/management park their cars. There are still seats outside but instead of just views of a river there a views of cars and other hatchbacks. Happy it was open we tried to ignore the cars, but found just 3 tables outside, the rest all stacked up in the corner, the prices of drinks have risen significantly or I was overcharged, either way we will no longer be going here, too many other great pubs to choose from (the black boy, kings head, etc) such a shame!

Defensive manager does not value feedback! This place will therefore not improve. We visited the restaurant as believed it to be part of a good quality complex. Our arrival was greeted cheerfully and we were shown to a 2 seater table. That’s where any notion of customer service ended. My partner went up to the counter to order a starter and 2 meals…. Our drinks arrive promptly. …tick tick… 20 minutes go by. People who arrived after us start getting their meals… …tick tick… I go over and ask what’s happening. I’m told “It’s busy“ …tick tick… I ask again. “It’s busy.” More people who have subsequently come in are served. Eventually the manager (who I saw looking at tickets behind the kitchen) came over with our mains. No starter of soup. What followed was incredible! She insisted that the cock up was our fault! Apparently, the lack of soup was because she could not possibly know what was ordered, what should be a starter and how many people were at each table. That excuse would work in a service station, but we are talking about a place that charges handsome price’s commensurate with table service - but with no table service. We will never go back.

We were recommended this cafe and we weren’t disappointed. My husband and I had the ‘Chocks Away’ full English and as the delivery guy hadn’t been yet we had home made hash browns which were fabulous, and the eggs were double yolkers. Our friends had scrambled eggs on toast and had mounds! Highly recommend this place and the view was great.
