We are staying the night in Birmingham and came here due to the reviews and we’re so glad we did. The food was amazing it was so tasty and we loved that they had their own twist on some dishes which made it so much mor enjoyable. We are huge foodies and love a curry most and this was perfect! Portion sizes were massive compared to what we get in London and I felt guilty leaving food because of how nice all the staff were! Would definitely reccomend and will be coming back again if we can!

Amazing food very friendly staff great prices

The last time I visited Basmati was pre-covid and honestly I don't know why I left it so long to revisit. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, the food was really flavoursome with good portion sizes and brought to the table within a good timeframe considering it all looked very freshly prepared. We ordered the set meal for 2 (option B) and was very happy with everything. To be honest we probably should have taken some of it home with us afterwards as we were both very full when we left but it was too delicious to leave! I'm not sure if we were charged twice for the poppadoms (as I believe they were part of the set meal) but for the few pounds extra I considered that a minor thing so didn't question it. There is a small, free car park outside with a ramp to access the front door. The walkway is quite narrow but shouldn't pose any access issues. We will definitely be returning again soon once we've recovered!

Amazing - great food, drink and service

Good friendly service but food less than mediocre. Just basic ingredients floating in lakes of sauces. Mixed veg curry was brown cement. No idea what I was eating. Yuk.

Exquisite food, excellent proffesional service with prompt delivery. Every item ordered arrives fresh, the naan bread is cooked to perfection which is a tricky thing to get right, the meat in all dishes I've ordered is tender and of high quality produce. My partner orders a vegetarian main dish most the time and she is always impressed. After trying many differnet places all over Birmingham the 'Basmati ' is quite simply the best Indian restaurant in Birmingham and consistently delivers on its food and service. Keep up the good work guys. 👏

I have just found my best Indian restaurant, unfortunately I live in Devon, but will be returning to this restaurant as often as I can, the meal I have just enjoyed is by far the best that I have ever had, do yourself a favor and try it if you are passing or like me working in the area.

food was nice as usual, only disappointment was I'd ordered a keema Nan and ended up receiving a plain one instead but I still ate it all the same.

I have been regularly visiting the Basmati for over 15+ years now and I have never had a bad meal from them! The atmosphere in the restaurant is great and the staff are so lovely and welcoming. The value for money on the food is very good, every dish I have had has tasted amazing and has always arrived hot and freshly cooked. Their onion bhaji are some of the best I've had and I love the big jugs of mint sauce they give you if you're a lover of the stuff like me! My family and I will continue to be loyal customers here.

Good food, a little pricey but quality. The beer I ordered came when I was finishing my meal to be fair they were very busy.

Absolutely banging. Had Chicken Tikka Masala nicest one we’ve had in years. Lovely flavours not bland. Rice beautiful too and a top delivery bloke 👍 price is best about cant fault them at all.

The food was lovely, very tasty, with just the right spice for our taste, loved the nan bread. Food was late but we do live in a quiet spot and delivery drivers do sometimes struggle to find us plus it was Saturday evening.

Curry and nan bread would have probably been nice if it wasn’t cold. Popadoms tasted stale. Chips were cold and seemed like they were left there for some time.

I recently visited Basmati restaurant and was impressed by the lovely atmosphere and thoughtful table arrangement. The ambiance added a charming touch to the dining experience. While the atmosphere and presentation were commendable, I found the food to be just okay. It didn't quite meet the expectations I had. Additionally, the quality of the wines was a bit disappointing. The restaurant has great potential, and with some improvements in the food quality and wine selection, it could offer an even better dining experience. The attentive staff and cozy environment are definite pluses. Overall, I had a decent time at this restaurant, but there's room for enhancement in certain aspects.

Had a tawa curry supposed to be indian style was not very disappointed load of sauce no different from there other curry sauces

Ordered 1 dish and a couple of naan breads, took over an hour and a half to arrive. Food was Luke warm when it finally did arrive. Disappointing considering restaurant is 5 mins drive away

Absolutely amazing service from the minute we walked in. Nothing was too much trouble. The waiters had a sense of humour and were friendly. Absolutely everything you could want. The food was delightful and extremely plentiful. Spicy enough without being overpowering. It was busy for a Tuesday night which shows how popular this place is. I’d booked a table for 8 and even though it was busy we felt very well cared for and attention to detail was second to none. My new regular and I honestly can’t wait to go back. Amazing. Thank you.

Gorgeous food again, the best Indian restaurant around.

Visited this place for the first time, has great parking facilities and from the outside looks like a really nice restaurant, however inside is a bit dated, the decor really did remind me of the 80's. It definitely needs refurbishment. The curry's and Biryani's was really nice really flavourful however the starters and mix grill had no flavour which was disappointing. Overall I would visit again but just avoid the starters.

Food was delivered early, it was piping hot despite us being a fair distance away from the restaurant and the quality and taste was spot on as usual.

Fantastic meal. We went on a Sunday and had a choice between menu and buffet. The portions were very generous and tasted amazing. We're fortunate to live very close to the restaurant and we will be back soon.

I visited sat 21st jan the food was amazing piping hot staff were great parking was difficult which is understable due to being a sat.only thing i didn't like was at the end of my meal as the waiter cleared our table, I asked for a desert menu he turned around and said have patience! Which am sure could be have rephrased in a more polite way,apart from that the restruant was great gave a tip as well.

Was New years Eve and they were very busy, I was picking up a take out so didn't experience the restaurant. Staff seemed to be very attentive to the tables and there were lots of regulars being greeted by name as they arrived. Food was really good and I will definitely be back both to eat in the restaurant and next time I have a take out.

Lovely food as usual and although a little late was worth the wait

We had to go and pick up our order. We tried to phone and no one answered this is appalling. We ordered early to avoid any delay but after 2 and a half hours nothing had arrived We tried numerous times calling and nothing will not be ordering again.

Food tasted amazing apart from the fact it was really cold. my kitchen is having work done so I couldn't heat it up and I was so hungry but if you order maybe pre heat your oven or stock it in the microwave. Otherwise food tasted nice

Curry was rather bland but chicken was very tender so that's a positive. Keema nan was missing 90% of it's keema. Wouldn't use again in my opinion

Really oily and the oil had gone over everything else in the bag, chips were spoilt. Oil from a meat dish getting over veggie food isn’t great. Maybe bag them separately in future.

Visiting from Bristol, I expected Takeaway from B’ham to be spot on…. I’m sad to say, This experience of Birmingham’s curry cuisine Was very disappointing, even my peshwari naan was sticky and rubbery texture… that went straight in the bin, tasted terrible. I managed to eat my vegetable Buona, didn’t taste of much and resembled a pile of sloppy mushy stuff, as for the coconut rice, Certainly didn’t taste of any coconut, and it’s colour with bits of something else and it, didn’t look good. 1 out of 2 chicken korma’s and just 4 pieces of chicken…. No complaints about the chicken tikka masala, but then she wasn’t hungry once the food arrived. Thank goodness for the free poppadoms, I had something I enjoyed!
