Nice little cafe on the high street, handy for popping in or passing by. Wholesome offerings for those looking for it, plenty on the menu. The coffee (iced) was very good.

A first and last visit for us sadly. Very very very slow service and overpriced for what they eventually serve. We waited 40 minutes for less than impressive paninis! The ‘garnish’ was a few sad looking lettuce leaves, no cucumber, tomatoes etc. For the price paid I’d expect slightly better presentation and value for money than what we had! Plus asking £3.10 for a bottle of diet coke is extortionate. Sadly, we will not be retuning.

My wife and I have for many years been asking for some very simple disabled aids in one of their two customer toilets It has constantly fallen on deaf ears so much so we are now having to boycott the establishment and tell our significant group of friends with reduced mobility to not bother either the establishment The coffee is good cakes are amazing and well the sausage rolls are classed as legendary but if you get caught short and require to use the toilet the simple matter of getting up off the toilet is for one with reduced mobility a nightmare and embarrassing I suggest you cross the road and use the Finch House where alas the product is not quite as good ( acceptable though) and the have a disabled friendly toilet

stopped into basil in tonbridge for breakfast. Haven’t been for quite a while and have to say was not disappointed. Couldn’t fault anything the coffee was lovely and the food was great, both presented well and not a long wait to come out. I told the staff after I was happy with the visit as most places I seem to visit are disappointing and he said a review on here would be great. if you’re thinking about popping for a visit then do it it’s well worth it 🙂

We turned up as a family of 6 for lunch, the food was 5 star and the service was better than most London restaurants. Everyone was polite and friendly and Seth Zuberi ( hope I’ve spelt his name correctly) went the extra mile with a smile on his face. We will be coming back and I’d like to organise some more catering for shoots if at all possible.

We have been visiting Basil once a month for some years. A place to look forward to with amazing Quiches. This time the staff decided thumping music was what diners wanted; I didn't and asked for a change. It was changed to another piece of music with a similar thumping noise so I ask for it to be turned down. It wasn't so I left. I hope to visit Basil again but unless they play music more suited to an eatery than a disco we will have to find somewhere else in Tonbridge to eat which would be a great shame

We popped in for a coffee and everything looked so lovely we decided to treat ourselves to brunch. Really attentive and friendly service which was efficient and quick. The cafe has a lovely atmosphere; buzzy and busy. It is clean and beautifully set out…fabulous lightbulbs!! There were lots of veggie options for my daughter and we thoroughly enjoyed the bacon bap and pancakes that went with our coffee. Would definitely recommend this Independant cafe/restaurant and hope to return for lunch next time. Thank you very much, keep doing what you are doing Basil!!

Visited today as I was in the area, having my car serviced. I chose not to go into the ‘chains’ - Costa, Nero, etc for brunch, so had a choice between Finch House & Basil. I chose Basil as it seemed less busy - there’s clearly a reason why…….. I ordered the bacon, avocado, tomato, on spelt toast and a coffee which came to over £14, I didn’t mind this, until the plate arrived. 2 rashers of over cooked bacon, the end of the loaf toasted for too long, so too crispy & dry to eat, two slices of tomato. The butter wasn’t spread on the burnt back end of toast just a knob plonked on (I moved things around to spread it myself), then reassembled plate). The half avocado was generous though and a good portion of rocket. I left the majority of the food, I did hear the older woman staff member ask others how they’d found their meals, she probably didn’t ask me, as it was clear based on my leftovers that I hadn’t enjoyed the meal. I also wasn’t a fan of the atmosphere, some customers welcomed and engaged with, others transacted with, but generally ignored. Not for me and I wouldn’t revisit or recommend!

I try to support independent businesses and smaller chains, but Basil charges extra for soya milk and offers no vegan desserts (at least, there weren't any when I last visited), and very few savoury vegan options. I'd rather not support a major chain like Starbucks, but they don't charge extra for soya milk and have a handful of savoury and sweet options for vegans. Hopefully Basil will realise there's a demand and offer more soon!

There is a choice of only two salads, neither suitable for vegans. The tea was ok. Would not return. Prices of food here expensive and not worth it. Paninis very doughy and need more cooking, served with a few pieces of poorly dressed lettuce. Price for these at around £6 is okaymWorst part was quiche and salad for £13. Owner justified it with the explanation they are homemade. £3.75 for some okay coleslaw is madness, not sure how they justify the profit margin on this.

We've been to Basil a few times and always enjoyed it. Generally have the frittata or quiche with some of their yummy salads. This time ordered the same, but the portion size was tiny! It was noticeably smaller than the last time we went. Price was the same. It does seem very expensive to be charged over £26 for 2 pieces of quiche, one small portion of salad each and 2 drinks. Like to support local cafes/restaurants, but I don't think that we will go again. It's a shame as the quality is always good. Case of shrinkflation!

We booked for a family afternoon tea, for around 50 people. We had plates of sandwiches and cakes, really lovely quality bread used and fillings were really nice. The coffee and tea were served in lovely cups and saucers with lovely tiered cake stands. The service was amazing, the servers polite and attentive. We are really grateful to Natalie the catering manager for such a lovely spread, so accommodating. The table cloths were beautiful, white laundered and the Pilgrims Hall itself is really lovely. If you are thinking of a place to hold a celebration do enquire, it was really good value for money and everyone commented on the quality of the food and drinks. My thanks to Kirsty for organising and being great at staying in touch to arrange the details. Plenty of parking and lovely walks around the Priory to walk off the lovely cakes. ❤️

Amazing place, welcomed a large group of us comfortably multiple times. Amazing service and great respect for all of us who were grieving the loss of a family member. Would highly recommend to others going, They offer great facilities for large families and children. Good quality food and I like the theme of "steak night".

Disappointing. Starters were ok. Steak was full of sinew and tough. Chicken ok but with heavy over-rich sauce. Pork Loin almost inedible. Service was slow, one waitress didn’t know what black pepper was! We had to remind them about our second drinks order. At the end we were charged for 2 extras at £1 each. We didn’t query it but have no idea why we were charged. We will definitely not be returning.

Held a wedding reception at this venue and it was perfect. Everyone is at the top of their game and very professional. I would recommend this venue for your event

Brilliant breakfast, cooked fresh every time and tailored to individual requests. Friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Tucked away at the back of an airport hangar it’s a bit tricky to find but we’ll worth it.
