Reviewing as the new (?) Barton Street Pizza. We had a takeaway “Forager”, it was fantastic. Had a drink outside while waiting, staff friendly, can’t fault it! Who would have thought peas on a pizza would be so good! Would definitely go back.

The charming small interior is similar to a brasserie that you might find in France. The menu comprises of small plates all at reasonable prices. We shared a cheese plate followed by a crème brûlée which was enough for a light lunch for two. The staff were very pleasant. The only downside of the visit was that the wine was served in water glasses. They do not have conventional wine glasses.

The food is adequate. I’ve had better frites when I’ve heated up my own from the freezer! Expensive. Overpriced. Service poor- we were brought tapenade and bread but nothing else- so had to take cutlery, plates and napkins from another table. And the restaurant wasn’t even busy

I can’t knock the taste of the food as it was excellent but the portions are tiny. Ordered petite pois, goats cheese au pain roared. It came as a slice of goats cheese split on two pieces of tiny toast. Goats cheese was quality. This was served on a bed of rocket with petite pois and pesto. Piece £7.50. There is also 12.5% service charge added to the bill - in fairness it does say on the bottom of the menu.

Cosy bistro serving small plates. Both dishes were very good with a good selection of wine. Not possible to book a table but it’s bigger than it looks as there is also seating upstairs and downstairs so don’t be put off if the street level looks full. Service could have been better as it wasn’t busy when we visited.

This is now called Bar Breton. We went here on chance as near to our hotel. A nice cosy place to have a meal. The food is mostly small plates everything we had was good albeit I would say very slightly overpriced. I think a bit of staff training is required as I was told that the salad I ordered had artichokes in it but when it came they were olives instead!

A little off the beaten track and so much better for that. We passed by mid morning and having had a shufty at the menu, asked if we could book for later that day. We were told by a very pleasant lady that they weren't taking bookings and it was a first come first served basis opening at 5pm. Not a problem, an early evening meal fell right in with our plans and so we'd head back at 5 ish (fingers crossed). The vibe of the place, the specials board and menu struck a cord with us - just about right, unpretentious, comfortable and simple. We were of course first in at 5 champing at the bit and were warmly welcomed. Ordered a glass of house red which was the perfect temperature and tasted good too - not a bad combination. As starters we ordered mackerel pate and Olives. The pate actually comes with olives so we had in effect a double portion of olives etc which was really not a problem as they were very good indeed. The mackerel pate was fresh and excellent and didn't, as can often be the case, induce indigestion - hurrah! Main course was Chicken & Sausage vol-au-vent pour moi and Baked figs for my good lady. Oh yes, also a side portion of chips and cheese. Whilst the cheese was a little strong for me the chips were a perfect accompaniment. We shared a tart tatin as a desert. A testament to the quality of the meal was that there was very little left on the plates at the end. Another glass of the very quaffable house red helped towards a very convivial and relaxing early evening meal. All in all, with a coffee and sparkling water the bill (including voluntary service charge of 12.5%) came to £60. I'm not a lover of auto service charges however on this occasion it was not a problem since the service throughout had been perfect and extremely pleasant. As mentioned earlier, this eatery is unpretentious, genuine and extremely good value for money. We'll certainly be revisiting the next time in Bath and would heartily recommend as being worth a try if you like what is described above....

Now known as Bar Breton, this is a Perfect date night sharing type of place. Good selections of wines and the space was intimate without being bunched up to the next table. The meat charcuterie board had a great selection and the cheese board was plenty. We had a couple of bottles of house red which was great and fairly priced. The quail egg gratin with smoked haddock had to be sent back, it tasted as if it had popped straight out of the microwave with an overbearing amount of salty melted cheese but there was no issue with this, the staff were helpful, warm and quick. A must if you visit bath.

I really enjoyed the set up of this place and the piano sessions. I also thought the staff were lovely. My only little complaint is how little cheese you get for the price you pay. We normally go to Gordon's in embankment quite a lot and have always been spoilt by how much cheese, pickles and proper bread you get for the same price we paid here so comparing it to that we were slightly disappointed specially because you have to buy bread separately.

This place is small but has a great selection of wines. Its set over a few floors and last time we visited had a pianist providing excellent tunes. Service can be a little slow in peak times but they are very friendly

What a super little wine bar, its got all the right ingredients it just needs a woman's touch; fresh flowers and maybe change the candles to all one scent like lavender or vanilla to cover up the cleaning fluid smell which was quite strong. Also move the pianist into a better position for the movement of sound and people. Overall I think this place is great and we will go again.

We were staying across the road at The Francis and took a wonder and came across Barton Street. One of the best if not the best wine bars I have visited. Fantastic choice of wines, top class hosts. We asked for some cheese and were provided with a selection of local cheeses - top class. If you are visiting Bath, visit Barton street.

I came for a drink with a friend last week for the first time and loved everything about this place- we came back tonight with a few more friends. Although quite on a winter week night (like most bars in Bath) the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed. We just had wine and nibbles as we had all eaten but will definitely try the sharing platters next time. I had a look through some of the other comments on here and find it hard to believe the (isolated) more negative reviews are genuine- as a local it is great to find an independent bar that is authentic, unpretentious and good value for money. Will definitely be coming back with friends and family!

Went here for a bottle of wine before dinner with my wife. The wine was good and the atmosphere buzzing.Very talented pianist got up and played which was really nice, piano is horrendously out of tune! The staff are rushed off their feet, can management get some more help for them? as it took a while to get a drink despite sitting at a table.Still really enjoyed the visit.

My partner and I have passed by this place on several occasions, as it is on our route home.We finally decided to pop in for a post work wine I only regret not having discovered this place before. We didn't get a chance to sample the food, although it looked fantastic. The wine list had plenty of variety, but not in an overwhelming way.The wine we chose was outstanding and very reasonably priced.Service was prompt and very attentive.Lovely atmosphere and very welcoming staff. Will absolutely be returning.

After a disappointing meal elsewhere in Bath, Italian meats and cheeses washed down with fine fine in a cosy welcoming atmosphere was just what we needed. The host was a revelation discussing all that Bath living entails, balanced comparison with Bristol's history, and the breadth of omertà in Italy. Loved it. Go.

A hidden gem in Bath!We found it while looking for a place to have a quick drink before dinner and were very nicely surprised by this place. The owner was there himself and was a very, very nice guy. The prosecco was very good and came with some nice snack too :)Definitely a place to try!
