A good coffee/tea room. Excellent coffee along with good choice of cakes or biscuits. They also serve cooked breakfasts and sandwiches.

Visited on a Monday pm, Riverside cafe was quite busy, had two really good teas, asked for soya milk, was no issue at all. Had a lovely fruit meringue & salted caramel cake slice which was lovely & would have again. Extremely good selection of cakes and tarts to choose from. Coffee has been good on other visits too. Cafe area is kept clean and tidy, most visitors move their trays to the stacking trolleys after they've done, but if not the staff clear them quickly. Reasonably priced for what we had. The garden centre itself is always well presented, always good selection of healthy plants, enjoyable to look around. The Christmas displays are always especially good to have a wander around. The staff are always friendly in all areas, and in the plant section they have been knowledgeable when we've asked for advice.

Utterly awful. Price for a salmon 'teacake' was £9.70 and the choice of sandwiches was achingly poor for an establishment whose mark-up price in most departments is around 50%. We came for coffee and a sandwich but when we saw what you people were charging, we left immediately. Won't be recommending this restaurant/cafe to our Australian friends any more. Sheer bloody greed for underwhelming food. You used to be good but now you are terrible, and as a retired Executive Chef and wife, you should be ashamed of your poor but expensive menu.

Congratulations on being voted so highly amongst the best garden centres in the country. The Christmas display is spectacular with lots on choice and most reasonably priced. However the Riverside café does not come up to the same standard. Had breakfast/brunch and was very disappointed. A buffet style breakfast will inevitably not be as good as freshly prepared. There is no “small “breakfast available for anyone who does not want the full English. The scrambled eggs and omelette looked most unappetising so I opted for a bacon barmcake. Wish I hadn’t bothered. Bacon was cold and barmcake was spread with some pretty awful margarine. Pretty poor and expected better. 😕

Had a really nice time at Barton Grange - lots to look at, great variety of plants and I particularly enjoyed the outdoor areas. Everything is obviously very well-maintained by staff, no dying plants or empty shelves. The food was pretty good, tasted fresh and a good variety of options to pick from. If there was any downside I'd say that its quite a busy place, but that's to be expected.

Went to enjoy a breakfast at this very welcoming garden centre. Firstly not bad value for money and you certainly get decent portions (we went for the full breakfasts) but don’t expect anything with any actual taste. There is a restaurant there with over inflated prices so we opted to try the cafe breakfast instead. Let’s be honest, a breakfast is a basic staple for any place that serves food so you’d like to think somewhere as nice looking as this place would have made some effort. I guess that’s why the portion sizes are so large, to make up for the lack of any excitement to your tastebuds. On the other hand the cafe area is large and quite inviting and I’d certainly go back for a coffee and cake, so not a disaster at all. A few changes in the kitchen and this could be a little gem of a place to go.

Biggest rip off of a restaurant/cafe. £6.00 for a bowl of mediocre soup. It had no taste. Main meals overpriced and small for the money. Farm shop likewise, there's a Booth supermarket nearby in Garstang where the produce is fresher and better. Won't be back there in a hurry. Shame on the management team

There was a few us of that came for lunch on Saturday and we couldn’t believe the rudeness of one member of staff serving behind the hot meal counter. The blonde lady offered to carry our tray to the table we were sat at because we had prams and a wheelchair to push so our hands were not free. We hadn’t quite finished getting the rest of our food and drinks so the member of staff waited for us whilst holding our tray still. We said to the lady, “we will manage ourselves if she wanted to get back to behind the counter.” Because it was busy and we were conscious about taking up her time. To which she replied in these exact words, “how will you manage, balance your tray on your head” We couldn’t believe how rude her comment was and we could tell she was not happy. We will not be in a rush anytime soon at retuning even though up to now we have been regulars. There was also a comment made about being in a wheelchair which was very offensive. Very put off by coming back here.

We went in October when they had the Christmas displays out. The Christmas displays were lovely, all colour coded, but I found it all quite expensive. I think they had similar displays the year previous. There was an absolutely disgusting smell at the main entrance and the checkout area - it smelled like sewerage. Not entirely sure what it was but at least it wasn't throughout the whole shop otherwise I don't think we could have stayed. There was a bird of prey charity there on the day we went so my daughter got to hold a little owl for a small donation. There is a lovely farmshop and kitchenwares department, however all quite expensive. Plenty free parking.

Went to Willows restaurant for brunch and despite it being more expensive than the Riverside cafe thought that it would be a better experience. Service was poor both at reception on entry and exit; there was no one on till to pay for meal. Table sitting was great. However breakfast was not worth the £12.90 despite being freshly cooked; the field mushroom was leathery, the hash browns were not cooked enough, the black pudding was bland; fried egg was good but very small. Sausage, bacon and tomato was good. Only 1 slice of toast which was cool. Drinks were small cup size for tea and coffee. Did not like the Riverside cafe breakfast as food sat under heat lamps and looked like been there some time. Went to the food hall which was not as when previously visited; could not get Lancashire cheese except plastic wrapped; no chocolate eclairs; Barton slice is now wrapped in cellophane. Also food range is not as it used to be such as bread range. Christmas displays were on show but previous years have been better.

Always a delight to visit this time of year as they have an exceptional array of decorations and lights to dress your home (subject to your budget), plenty of friendly staff on hand to help out, great cafe and restaurant on site too should you feel peckish, adore some of the larger ornaments in the garden centre. The on site grocery shop is full of plenty of delicious locally sourced items, ours never make it home, an exception being the crisps survived the journey this time lol.

We were a coach load from Greater Manchester. Barton Grange was our first stop of the day. We spent just under 2 1/2 hours there. The many staff were genuinely helpful and pleased to be so. The goods for sale were almost without limit but very tastefully arranged around the store. Most of our party went in the café rather than the restaurant. There is plenty of seating so even at busy times, it's likely there won't be a problem in relaxing. The menu is huge and varied, including light bites, more substantial meals and cakes/pastries that would put anyone strictly calorie counting in the red area for a week😀. A few of our party were of slowing mobility and they have even got scooters to borrow, subject to conditions, for free, during one's visit. This was an excellent part of our day and well done to all the staff.

Went with a friend who lives with disability and has many food allergies. This is one of the best places I’ve ever been for assistance with such issues. Staff were hugely caring and helpful. They bent over backwards to ensure that food was safe and in fact, the chef sent a message out to say that if he had the ingredients he would make whatever she would like to eat so that she enjoyed her lunch. There are free wheelchairs and mobility scooters available and the whole centre is easily accessible. Parking is not just a blue badge holders near the entrance, but for those who are less abled, allowing people like my husband, who in the past has had a cast on his leg to be able to access the centre easily . It was wonderful. Food was very good. It’s not the cheapest but not overpriced either.

We decided to treat ourselves to a cooked breakfast in the cafe at B/Grange which we normally don’t have at home. The cafe was very quiet and as usual very inviting. However, after sitting down to enjoy our meal my wife and I immediately were aware of the poor quality and temperature of the food. Without exception all the items in the breakfast were cold or almost cold. Only the toast was warm as it was freshly done. It was not an option for us to ask for a replacement as the food on display was the origin of our meals, and we could not afford the time involved. The Breakfast could not be called cheap at £9+ and certainly was a great disappointment. We expected better things from Barton Grange.

After a lovely morning in the garden, I decided to go up to Barton Grange to pick out some new seeds for my beloved garden. The parking is always fantastic lovely wide spaces no issues. As I approached the centre I saw what I can only describe as three white hairy trolls, screaming some ancient tongue scaring the life out of me. After quickly taking cover behind a 2017 Ford Focus, I realised that these were actually meant to be Christmas related. Now the last time I checked trolls from the deepest depths of hell are not related to Christmas. I would suggest that Barton Grange stops with these Satanic beings and return to a Father Christmas. Also, the seeds I wanted were out of stock and I may need to go and have a pacemaker fitted.

Have had many visits to the garden centre and have started the visits with breakfast in the Riverside Cafe, unfortunately on our visit last week we were surprised to see the prices had gone up and to make matters worse the breakfast was awful. The bacon and sausage were hard and had obviously been there some time, the scrambled egg was cold and we were sat in a cold and draughty restaurant. The whole meal was Luke warm at best, we had pies each which were horrible even the pastry was chewy. The green beans were a mixture of fresher cooked ones and earlier in the day cooked ones as you could tell by the texture and colour of the beans as were the carrots. The roast potatoes oozed oil and were chewy and all you could taste was oil. we both only ate half of our meal and left the rest for the kitchen bin as that's where it should have been put in the first place. The only item that was worth paying for was the filter coffee. we will visit the garden centre again but never the cafe unless they find some staff who know how to cook and present meals. very very disappointed as was first time out for a meal in over 12 months .

As you have probably read, the food here is very good and the presentation is off the hook, as is the people watching. Arrived at the restaurant early, ordered two specialty drinks ($85 tab). We had a party of six and didn't have to wait that long and sat at a comfortable table outside. That is where the fun began. The food presentation was unlike anything we had ever seen. The wine prices were not that bad, for a restaurant (roughly 100% markup) and the food was very good (not great) We have all seven appetizers on the menu. Portions were fair. We split two entrees and bother were very good. Our server was very good and all servers pitched in on all tables. The meal was very expensive, but it's SoBe trendy and bucket list item. We went to the cafe feeling hungry and looking forward to a sit down having visited the shop and garden centre. I opted for the ham sandwich and the family member had soup and a prawn sandwich. We sat at a table and I opened the sandwich to put on the four tiniest pieces of lettuce. The sandwich which cost £6.50 pence had one slice of ham on it the ham was incredibly fatty and having removed all the fat I was left with a credit card size piece of ham. The tiny pieces of lettuce were wet and would have made the bread more soggy that it already was having being sat close to the wet lettuce. The cafe was very busy and I didn’t have the courage to take it back. The soup was hearty and delicious so no complains there. The prawn salad was very watery and lacked variety of salad items (£10.99. All in all a very very disappointing lunch I mean a £6.50 sandwich should be at least have s couple of slices of ham and a fair salad. Definitely not worth the money. I did contact the cafe and got a very standard reply suggesting they would do better next time.

We thought we’d try the cafe but there was a long queue stretching back into the shop and again people in the queue were standing too close to each other. We had precooked a slot for Crazy Golf at The Flower Bowl so decided to pop in for breakfast beforehand one Sunday morning. Having eaten Breakfast in the cafe many times previously we were looking forward to the Honeywell’s pinwheel sausages and paying reasonable prices for a full English (£6 tops)Imagine our surprise when we saw the prices for the full breakfast had increased to £8.95!!!! We arrived just after 9am so it had just opened but didn’t expect the bacon and sausages to be lukewarm and rock solid as they had obviously been sat around for a while. Granted the meat is from Honeywell’s and you get 2 sausages now instead of the Cumberland wheel, but there is no black pudding or choice of eggs other than scrambled. But for the prices to have increased by almost 50% is daylight robbery, particularly when it’s almost canteen self service. The Covid procedures in place are very good, but we won’t be returning and will go to The Barn at Scorton in future where breakfasts are the same price, freshly cooked to order and much better. Such a shame Barton Grange, you really need to look at your prices and we won’t be back in a hurry.

On returning to car needed to eat as a member of our party diabetic so we had a sandwich and hot drink in car. A member of staff was glaring at us as he passed several times and eventually asked us to move on as he explained that picnics are not allowed. Seems they just want to take your money and customer service is not high on priority list for them. I think businesses like this need to remember that customers still need to be treated properly not as cash cows. We had our own food as the food hall is closed and you need to prebook in restaurant which we did not know before visiting. We were not having a long picnic just a sandwich and drink. We've been going to Barton Grange for many years and have always enjoyed the ambience in the run-up to Christmas. Then last year the musicians Two Apiece weren't there. We've always enjoyed their playing and their presence was missed. Their absence made the entrance very drab and lifeless. This year the price of the hot pot and pulled turkey has shot up by almost 20%!Even worse, the uplifting musical lights feature has been replaced by a very poor display. What was an enjoyable experience that made us smile and brought joy is now a desultory display with music that deflates rather than lifts the spirits.Definitely a number of backward steps taken here.

This is a new building, and quite smart inside, although the majority of the chairs and hard and uncomfortable. We were lucky to get one of the side tables in an alcove which have upholstered seats. The service was excellent - quick and friendly - and I have nothing but praise for the young servers. The food, to be honest, was average. Not horrible, but rather bland. OK if you are in the area, but I would not make a special trip. The batter, however, was light and not rock hard, so I actually ate it.Having thought about it I am not sure, but I think the cooking oil may have been the problem. The fish looked lovely and white, and the chips looked OK, but there was very little taste. (I wish more establishments would cook in Yorkshire-style dripping, or at least offer it as an option.)

Me and my boyfriend where recommended by a couple of friends to visit as they have had positive experiences there, We however experienced no such thing, the staff where very kind apart from a selected few teenagers laughing at us from the kitchen which was followed my boyfriends plate Which was as if it hadn't been washed in weeks. I can tell you tell you for sure that we won’t be coming here again. 5 stars

I visited Barton Grange today with my daughter & my 8 month old granddaughter to see the Christmas decorations and have lunch. We waited at the entrance to the restaurant for a member of staff to take us to one of the numerous empty tables. Staff saw us waiting but no-one came! After around 10 minutes, a member of staff walked towards us - but just carried on passed us to the toilets with not a word to us. We left and will not be coming back.

Called in for lunch on a Sunday, big mistake. Food up to it’s usual high standard, but Christmas is just over the horizon and it was very busy. They might have the displays nearly ready shame about the staff. Queues for the hot drinks and the silliest paying area meant our lunches were only tepid when we got them. The few staff on duty were disengaged and miserable, probably because they were over stretched. The gentleman in the high vis jacket certainly wasn’t ‘happy to help ‘ in fact he was rude when asked for assistance. Except for the quality of the food not what I expect from this destination. Could it be complacency setting in

Really not sure about this place - all very neat all very nice but all a bit over the top. The decor is a bit much and far from relaxing or good on the ye. The quality of the food drink and other things on sale is of a high standard. For the gents it is certainly worth visiting the toilets!! not sure what you do to the urinals?? use them or wear them!! Over the other side of the carpark is an entertainment area. Very interesting is again over the top decor. However the stay was short lived at £10 to play crazy golf is lunatic - 4 people playing is £40 - wow no way. That is rip off. Wont revisit. Staff in the garden centre really nice - staff I spoke to at the entertainment centre need removing. Sorry

Presentation is all at Barton Grange. A great place to visit during all the bad weather (& Brexitations elsewhere). A bit early to be ramping up for Christmas already but no matter. Lots to see and a window seat overlooking the river is a delight.

Fish and chips and how they are cooked is a subjective matter. My preference is for both the battered fish and the chips to be well cooked and brown in colour. With this in mind here is my review of this dish at The Flower Bowl.

We often call in here for a browse and invariably find stuff we couldn’t do without! Several options for eating now with fish and chips and a restaurant in the Flower Bowl and the Riverside Cafe and Willows restaurant in the main complex. We had a look at the Willows, seemed quite pricey and restricted choice, so we ate in the Riverside. Nice freshly made sandwiches and coffee hot meals available but not cheap, £5.20 for a cheese savoury bun. Nice views of the river through the large windows. Spectacular gent’s loo!

I love a nice half day out to Barton Grange. It is a really big garden centre with loads of plants, ornaments, furniture etc etc. They have a really good cafe/restaurant too. It's not the cheapest place on earth but the quality is very high. The staff are very friendly and are always on hand to offer detailed advice.

Looked forward to our visit (3 adults) but oh dear. Very dissapointed. Asked for a booth & very reluctantly shown the last booth. Chose our meals & a pot tea for 2 & a latte. Was very fast service, meals brought by a sullen lady! Couldnt fault the fish (medium chosen/shown on pic) but the peas were awful. The steak pie was just ok. Couldnt believe both meals were over £10 each. I had leak & potato soup & a tiny roll. Charged £5. It was smaller than the garden centre & the roll was 2 bits!. We had a pot of tea which was not warm & tasted as if it was out of a flask (wasn't as had tea bag tag hanging out) neither of us drank it. We couldnt wait to get out! We were not asked if eveything was ok as the man was so flustered at the till dealing with us, even though there was no one else there - god knows what he would be like if it was busy. At over £34 for 2 meals, 1 soup & 3 drinks VERY OVERPRICED. Definately won't be recommending it. Definately won't be returning. Shame as enjoyed the other side (cafe) where the bowling/mini golf etc are.

We've been a few times and the menu is not varied. It is the same sandwiches, salad bar isn't varied and I find it expensive for the quality and quantity. Not too far away is Daisy Clough Nurseries - they know how to do food and service.

Ate in Blooms restaurant. Decor is stunning but the lack of natural light and the "booths" makes it feel a bit oppressive. It's a bit surreal. Food was ok. Just ok. Pub grub, burgers, curry, chilli, flatbread. Not very inspiring but I suspect they are trying to cater for families with children of all ages. Dining here doesn't feel very special, but then I don't think it's meant to. It's very "Nandos"-ish but more upmarket. It fulfills it's purpose, ideal as an "add-on" to an evening at the entertainment centre. Worth a visit for the decor but not necessarily the food.

We've been a couple of times now and will return to explore more. First, the Oasis Coffee Shop serves good drinks and cakes etc and you can enjoy them and watch people curling. The Ocean Fish & Chip Restaurant serves very good fish and chips in several portion sizes to suit most appetites. What is even better is that they serve Gluten Free fish and chips that are very tasty. Parking is free and with good size spaces.

Hartwood Hall is 'ok' if you are stuck for somewhere. We stayed on a Sunday evening and by 6pm all the Sunday roast menu was unavailable, along with a number of other side & main dishes. Tables in the pub area had plates and glasses left on them for well over an hour and it was not busy. No issues with the food we ordered, and it arrived quickly. The room was boiling hot even though the radiator was off, bed rock hard and uncomfy, shower woeful dribble but all fairly clean. TV remote very dirty/dusty between the buttons so needed a wet-wipe. Breakfast was ok, apart from drinks glasses being dirty and stuck face down to a small wooded tray; plus the cleaner was hoovering throughout the pub as the hotel guests ate breakfast. Should be done before or after breakfast. Pub staff are all friendly and helpful.

With access through the Old corn Mill antiques centre, the Vintage Tea Room is beautifully clean, but has a rather spartan appearance; reminiscent of a works canteen. and lacks refinement in presentation. Our bacon sandwiches were well filled with delicious, well cooked bacon; but the two slices of bread should have been destined for 'doorstep' toast. Although fresh and of a decent texture and taste, the thickness of the bread tended to detract from the filling. Whilst we were asked if we would like any cutlery or sauces, we had to request a paper napkin. Appearances do matter, and it was a little off-putting to see a man, who we presumed be the cook, simply dressed in ordinary outdoor clothes, wandering around outside with tea towel over his shoulder. The staff were friendly and helpful; the menu interesting and quite extensive for a small establishment, and we are sure that other meals would be as well cooked and tasty as was our bacon filling. A little more attention to detail would make a huge difference. Oh yes - and the coffee was good.
