A well stocked community shop with wide range of food and household essentials. Run by local volunteers. Also a cafe where you can have scones, cakes and drinks. Cheese and fruit scones were delicious, accompanied by hot drinks. Good value for money Seating both inside and out with easy access from the car park. One small step to go into cafe.

We went on a miserable wet midweek lunchtime but were warmly welcomed by the volunteers. Due to the weather, we were the only customers. We ordered a cheese scone platter, which came with cream cheese and an onion marmalade (a great combination) plus a sandwich meal deal, which included a hot drink and a cake - both the lemon drizzle and the coffee cake were fresh and tasty. The shop was well stocked too. A great find.

Popular and busy village store staffed by volunteers, serves great snacks and cakes as well as the usual selection of provisions and locally sourced produce you'd expect to find in a village shop. Inside and outside seating makes this a great location whatever time of year, location makes it an ideal stop off for anyone passing on the A47/ A43.

We have visited the Barrowden Community Shop & Cafe twice so far. The shop seems to be well stocked and we enjoyed the drinks and jacket potatoes in the cafe. The cafe offers a choice of indoor and outdoor seating, prices are very reasonable and the staff are volunteers. A first class community venture and we hope to return again soon.

Visited the lovely village of Barrowden in Rutland to find a gem of a community shop manned by keen, friendly villagers - and a manager as well. Clean, well stocked and a café with limited menu but good enough for a light lunch - delicious cakes. Excellent gift shop area. Well worth a detour.

This review is for the shop not the cafe - stayed in the area and it's was a godsend for us if we needed shopping but didn't want to drive - well worth using.

Situated in the lovely village of Barrowden The Shop is owned by the communities of Barrowden and Wakerley and run by volunteers as a non-profit making enterprise. Apart from selling local and Fair Trade produce, flowers, gifts and plants The Shop has a tearoom. This provides a meeting place for villagers and visitors. Various hot drinks and locally made cakes are available plus sandwiches and quiche at lunch times. There is a garden and courtyard with seating. There is also free access to the internet. It is a bright and welcoming place. The surrounding countryside is lovely and The Shop is an ideal spot to stop for refreshment if you are touring the area, walking or cycling. We enjoyed a coffee and cake before setting out on our walk and tea at the end. Barrowden is well worth exploring and we walked to Duddington, another interesting village, on part of the Rutland Round which follows the River Welland. Nearby Fineshades and Wakerley Woods have good walking and cycling paths. Weekday opening is from 8.am to 6.pm, Saturdays 8.am to 4.pm and Sundays 10.am to 1.pm

Small menu but everything we had was very very good. And reasonably priced. And a lovely spot looking over the lawn. What’s not to like
