Barracuda in Hertsmere

We had all been here before and ordered the lunchtime set menu. We all had different starters, which we had chosen previously and enjoyed. Two of us had the meat lasagne and one had chicken, all of which was perfectly cooked and piping hot. We also treated ourselves to delicious desserts. All in all an excellent lunch served by very pleasant and efficient staff.

We've eaten here a number of times and have always enjoyed the experience. The restaurant is cosy and warm (ideal in this weather) and you are always made to feel welcome. The staff are attentive, the menu is extensive and the food is always tasty - the seabass is very good and so is the liver! I would recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing experience I recently had a disappointing experience and felt compelled to share my review. My family and I were walking by the restaurant when my young daughter suddenly felt hungry. The restaurant was empty, with hardly one or two tables occupied. Considering early dinner and the fact that we were passing by, we decided to stop and we ordered a lasagna and there was not enough sauce, The middle was dry and very little meat. spaghetti carbonara (tasteless sauce) I wanted to add salt but the salt does not work, I asked for another one and the waitress brought me a broken one , pieces of plastic could fall into my food .to mention: the cutlery looked as if they had been used The staff was not interested that we were there

This is the second time I have been here in 2 weeks. I'm so happy to finally have my perfect kind of restaurant in the area. This for me beats them all hands down. Both times we went for the evening menu. The atmosphere was so relaxed, and the service is spot on. To start I had goat cheese salad. It was beautiful. My partner had minestrone soup with bread. The portion sizes here are unbeatable. The soup was fantastic, fresh and homemade for sure. Mains I had linguine fruit de mere. The seafood was plentiful and good quality meat. Definitely not from the freezer like a lot of local italian restaurants. It was out of this world. My partner had king prawns. The prawns were massive and endless. The service was spot on , these ladies work hard. I love the way they pay attention to detail. Finger bowls, spare bowls for shells, cutlery and thick napkins replaced continously. They have the balance right. They don't fuss you too much and you don't have to keep calling for them all the time either. Beautiful smiles and the whole feel of the restaurant just left me so relaxed. I cannot stand over noisy restaurants. It sends my anxiety sky high. This is definitely our new favourite place to visit. I'm hoping this restaurant is here for good.

The food at the Barracuda is excellent. Always smiling staff who chat and include you in what seems like a family atmosphere. The boss and his staff are a very tight fit. The whole restaurant runs very smoothly. The food is excellent. Whatever you have is freshly cooked and delicious. Popular with couples and families. They have a garden and also an area out the front to site and what the world go by. We go weekly and have never had a bad meal.

We’ve now been in here on family visits a few times, this restaurant is an absolute gem, everything from sandwiches, baked potatoes to very good main courses at exceptional value. We were in yesterday and my mother in law had baked potato with cheesy beans and salad (the potato was huge) , I had mushroom risotto (doggy bag required) any my husband lamb shank. The portions are huge and all delicious. The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive. I wish we had one near us as value and service are fantastic.

Absolutely perfect. Warm welcome professional staff and a plethora of delicious excellent breakfast choices. The poach eggs were perfectly cooked and the grilled tomatoes were lovely. The coffee and ambience here is relaxing.

I visited Barracuda Borehamwood for a family Father's Day dinner and although we were a family of 8 I'm only expressing the experiences of my wife and myself. We have visited this restaurant regularly since it opened in Borehamwood and have had some really good meals and experiences but on this occasion it really fell short in terms of food quality and service. To put things into perspective there were only approximately another 14 diners so the restaurant wasn't particularly busy and we expected better. My wife ordered Minestrone Soup and a Mushroom Risotto. The soup arrived cold which is unacceptable. As for the risotto it was a gloopy mess resembling a bowl of porridge and not a professionally made restaurant standard dish. This was sent back and replaced by Spinach and Ricotta cannelloni which was ok. I ordered a Chicken Milanese with a portion of Spaghetti Pomodoro. The spaghetti was ice cold and I had to send it back to be reheated. As for the chicken milanese it was tough and inedible. The waitress original gave me a butter knife to use and then swopped it for a steak knife which didn't help either so I returned the dish for a Tricolore Salad which was ok. I ordered an Apple Crumble for dessert which was horrible and consisted of small square pieces of tinned apple in a gloopy kind of thick jelly syrup with no flavour or cinnamon which was covered in some type of muesli flakes and warmed or baked in the oven. This is possibly the worst Apple Crumble I have eaten in a restaurant. I had to keep trying to catch the waitress attention for extra items, dessert menus and the bill and as mentioned earlier they were not very busy and the staff were not very attentive. Far too many unacceptable mistakes. Overall the food standards, quality and service have definitely gone down to the point that I do not intend to support this establishment again. We as customers work hard for our money and it annoys me when we receive sub standard food and unacceptable service.

Lovely menu, food was delicious, good sized portions, service was good and unobtrusive. Price was good. Would highly recommend them and I will return soon.

Faultless from service and food, a great find. They tailored a dish, good shout. I would go back again at the drop of a hat.

Excellent service - delicious food well prepared and cooked to perfection - charming staff and a lovely ambience for an evening meal as well as brunch and lunch. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Very surprised how nice our meals were.The food tasted great and the presentation was also excellent, only went there as my daughter suggested it, what a find, best pasta for miles ,looking forward to going there again, must mention the service as well couldn't find a fault with anything

Staff are welcoming the moment you walk through the door. Nothing is too much for them. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are very generous. This is one of my favourite restaurants to go with friends or family.

This place is great for occasion or for the night out with a lovely food and service I had pollo Tagliatelle and my friend linguine seafood

The food at the Barracuda is excellent. We go weekly the staff are friendly and welcoming. We have never had a bad meal in all the time we have visited. Nice to sit outside the front in summer and equally good in the winter inside. The food and wine are reasonably priced.

Great value 2 course lunch. Food and service was excellent. Will definitely return when we n the area.

A score of 11/10 would be appropriate for the Barracuda in Borehamwood. We eat there a lot now as it is the best plate in Borehamwood. The portions are big, the price for these big portions is more than reasonable and the food is excellent. Run by a group of lovely people who can't do enough for you. Smiling staff, waitresses. We cannot praise it enough and will be back there very soon.

We just finished our lunch at the Baracuda. What a treat. We both hud seafood linguini - it was a really good size, packed with quality seafood ań gorgeous flavour. To add to that - the service was outstanding.

1st, and last, visit!! My husband and I both ordered smoked salmon sandwiches on brown bread. When they arrived I thought the bread was stale. Actually it was so hard it was crunchy. I said nothing and attempted to eat it. Half way through I gave up and just removed the meagre piece of salmon and ate that. I didn't complain for two reasons. Firstly we were with friends who eat there a lot, and think it's wonderful. Secondly, I had read on Trip Advisor that the manager is incredibly rude and that the customer is always wrong. Fawlty Towers!!! When we left, I asked my husband about his sandwich. His, too, was stale and, to add insult to injury, one of his slices was an even harder crust. Needless to say we'll never return to this establishment. There are far better cafés in Borehamwood.

Today we had an excellent lunch with friends, the food was delicious with large portions. The service was good and friendly, and a very good ambience, we will definitely be returning

We were visiting borehamwood and looking for somewhere to eat on Sunday night . Came across this restaurant. Food was very good very tasty and generous portions food good quality service good . I had chicken barracuda very tasty sauce good sized portions of potatoes and vegetables all very tasty . My husband had sea bass again he enjoyed it my son had ravioli as Nd he was very pleased with his meal too . Dessert was so good too

I have eaten here many times in the past but on this occasion I was so disappointed. Customer service was probably the worst I have ever experienced. I ordered a sandwich on brown bread but when it arrived the bread was dry and tasted stale and a little hard. The waitress came over and agreed to change it for something else. A moment later the manager came over to the table and told me the bread “was not hard” he walked away and came back with a slice of bread in a plate and asked me to feel it . He told me “not to say it was hard” that it was just the type of bread. I pointed out that I hade eaten here many times with this bread and it had never been like this before but he continued to question my judgement, in front of all the other customers, and to tell me that I should t say the bread was “hard”. Even the people on the tables next to me were shocked at the way he was handling this complaint. He should have just replaced the item , which is the normal procedure when a customer is unhappy with their meal but, no he continued to go on about how the bread was not hard and that I should t call it hard. He finally asked me if I wanted something else - absolutely not I just wanted to leave the premises . I finished my coffee and left without lunch - I won’t be eating here again Ever!

Went here for lunch today with my sister and my sister ordered a sandwich. When it came the bread was hard almost like it was stale. She asked the waitress discreetly if they could change it. The manager then came up and asked us what the problem was. He said ' The bread is not hard' My sister replied I'm sorry but it was a little hard. The manager then went to the kitchen and brought a slice of bread back on a plate. He told my sister to feel the bread. This was all I front of other customers, the table next to us couldn't believe it. He then stated again ' The bread is NOT hard' . Eventually he said to my sister OK then do you want to order something else? My sister politely declined as this had become embarrassing. The manager then just said OK then and walked off. I've never had such incredibly bad customer service. He confronted my sister in front of the tables next to us and made her feel small. This is not the way to treat customers. What terrible customer service. We will not be returning.
