Fig Tree Grill in Hertsmere

I have been to this little hidden gem in Potters Bar so many times before in the last 3/4 years. I stumbled across it while in bed at the Hilton hotel nearby while at work and sooo happy I found them 🤗 Since then, I cannot thank Niko the owner and his amazing team for all the amazing and gorgeous food 🙏 I am half Cypriot, i go back home and travel the entire world with work but there’s nothing better than Fig Tree Grill souvlakia, Cypriot sandwiches and all the vegetarian lush dishes available there on their menu 🙌

This is the nearest kebab shop to our home. It's a local independent one and somewhere I like to support. The food is good and quite rightly deserves plaudits. When I visited tonight everyone was flying about and they were obviously very busy. Good. However having ordered a collection, the young girl who served me had no manners. No please, no thank you, infact she hardly looked up. Shame, poor customer skills that need sorting if your front of house.

I had tried Fig Grill for their 'acclaimed' Greek food a few years ago and I do recall that at the time I had been a little disappointed. But a few years on I thought that since it's local to me, I really should give it a whirl. Between the three of us we ordered (large) sheftalia, (large) lamb shish and keftedes. Fig Grill's food has apparently won awards and they certainly do bill themselves as a cut above their competition. In fact if you're sat in Fig Grill and look across the road, what do you see? Yes a kebab restaurant. They have a fancy menu and granted there are some interesting menu items, particularly among their house specials. The first thing that struck me once the food arrived was how large the portion of sheftalia was - definitely larger than I've had in other kebab restaurants. But the second thing that struck me was how measly the salad was - and certainly not as fresh as I've had elsewhere. One portion came with chips but they were disappointingly soggy. As for the main dishes, I'd have to say that the sheftalia, the lamb shish and the keftedes - were all over cooked - and the chargrilled taste was oddly absent. Overall, rather disappointing.

This place is brilliant, amazing food my vegetable pitta was delicious (and huge) - tzatziki delicious and friendly service.

I have had the benefit of eating in, takeaway and delivery and I am more than happy with the service and the quality of the food. It is also plentiful, well presented and tasty, as well as good value for money. I have even had their ready made sheftalia for home cooking and bbq and felt that it was clean and tasty also. All in all I would definitely recommend and definitely return. I have eaten in twice now. The salad was of a good quality and very fresh.

Thank god finally found an authentic Cypriot restaurant that ticks every box. My calamari was sublime. The service is very attentive and professional. But the food is on another level.

Simply the best Greek food! Always fresh. We always order takeaways/deliveries. Went for dinner with my daughter last night. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is so laid back. There was a small group of friends eating meze, drinking KEO and shots of Zivania. Loved it! I felt like I was sitting in a lovely kafenio in Cyprus.

the staff were welcoming. the pork was moist, fresh, and tasty the salad was not so good. The tomatoes and cucumber was soggy and tasteless. not much onion and even less parsley. The calamari was soft, I expected the calamari to be crispy. Paying at the till instead of being given a bill, was new to me. I'm not sure I agree with that. Overall, an okay experience. would I go again? maybe!

The food was excellent and fresh. The portions were typical massive Greek Lol. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Overall really good.

We thought to try this restaurant for the first time based on reviews and the awards they have won. Unfortunately they did not live up to expectations! This can’t be called a restaurant, it is a takeaway with a few tables as an afterthought, upon arriving we were shown to our table, no menus were brought to us, we had to take them of the table next to us. I had to call someone over to take our order, then waited 40 minutes for our food to come! There was plenty of staff behind the grill, but all they were concerned about was the takeaway orders (which came thick and fast) and not the seated customers! No bill was brought to us either we had to pay at the takeaway counter. To our shock they automatically added 15% service charge without mentioning this! Overall this first experience of the Fig Tree Grill was disappointing and suffice to say we won’t be going back! The only reason I have given it 2 stars is that the food was ok but nothing special

Exceptional service, food very good quality & cooked on the charcoal to perfection. Restaurant is spotless. Owner Mr Louca js a gentleman. What is there not to like ! If you haven’t tried it - please do & you won’t be disappointed.

Top Notch Cypriot Souvlakia!!! Coming from the southern Med, we have had our fair share of kebabs!! I have to say this restaurant is probably the best we’ve ever come across. Everything is fresh, the ingredients are high quality, we have been a few times and it is consistently good. It’s worth the drive out from London, and we will definitely be going back to try other options on the menu:))) They are super friendly and every welcoming.

I found this little gem around 2 years ago while working in Luton. As a VIP Flight Attendant we search for good quality food! This little Cypriot restaurant has not let me down once. The food is always cooked to perfection and my guests on board, pilots and family back in Southampton always praise the food from the Fig Tree Grill. Keep up the amazing work guys and a big thank you to you Niko & the amazing chef behind the grills 🙌

I’ve been going to Fig Tree Grill since moving to Potters Bar in 2020. We visit on a weekly basis and can honestly say we’ve never had a bad experience. Nick and family are fantastic at what they do! The meat is fresh, perfectly prepared and portions are very generous! There’s been many times I visit friends and family out of the area and make the trip back to Potters Bar just to get Fig Tree and take to them. Thanks guys. 10/10
