Absolutely loved the experience of an afternoon tea. The staff, SAS, Sue Amy and Sandra were lovely and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. They were backed up by DJ, David and Jack in the kitchen and provided us with a great assortment of cakes, sandwiches, scones etc. The bakewell blondie has been my favourite cake EVER. Thanks everyone. We’ll be back 😜

Vintage afternoon tea. Just perfect

Out of this world is the words I’m hunting my cupboard for. Truly amazing service was after a set of pliers for my cuttle sink and glad I stumbled upon this contraption. Will be returning can’t ask for more even gave me a free bag to carry them in thanks Bernard’s cafe!

Having had the pleasure of dining here twice for breakfast, I can confidently say that this quaint eatery is a hidden gem that deserves a visit. Barnard's is open from Tuesday to Saturday, and the only drawback is that it's not open all week! The anticipation of those five days of exquisite breakfasts is well worth the wait. The food here is simply outstanding. From the moment you take your first bite, you know you're in for a treat. One of my personal favourites is their scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast. The eggs are cooked to perfection – creamy, fluffy, and rich in flavour, complemented beautifully by the delicate smokiness of the salmon. Topped with a sprinkle of fresh greens, this dish is not only a feast for the palate but also a delight for the eyes. Another standout dish is their Eggs Benedict. Perfectly poached eggs, crispy bacon, and a generous helping of hollandaise sauce, all served on a toasted English muffin – it’s a classic done right. The sauce is velvety and rich, the bacon adds a wonderful crunch, and the eggs are cooked just right, with a runny yolk that ties all the flavours together. The service at Barnard's is nothing short of excellent. The staff are attentive, friendly, and go out of their way to ensure that your dining experience is flawless. They have mastered the balance of being present without being intrusive, making sure your coffee is always topped up and your needs are met with a smile. In conclusion, Barnard's Restaurant in Denmead is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality food and top-notch service. Visited several times now for lunch but mainly breakfast. Could be little more generous but food is decent with polite and courteous staff. Little back courtyard more pleasant in nice weather and better than rather bland interior. But good to have as option in village community x Pleasant.

Weekly treat is a full English with a decent slice of black pudding. Lunch is also very enjoyable.

The most perfect scone I have ever tasted - light, fluffy, warm with just the right amount of outer crust... And home baked on site too - delicious... The cakes on offer all looked incredible, and all home baked too. My step son had the biscoffi tiffin, and he said it was lovely. We also had a bacon, brie and cranberry toasted panini -cooked to perfection so the brie was melt in your mouth. A wonderful family run business, with top notch service - cannot recommend this coffee shop highly enough xxx

Tasty bacon, brie and cranberry panini. My friend enjoyed a Tuna melt panini too. Why not 5*? Cost... £22 for two paninis, a small peroni and a lemonade. Also, because I'm fussy, there was loads of fat on my bacon. :( still a good 4* though. Would go back. :)

Went to Barnards for brunch. We hadn't booked but they were able to accommodate us. I would think booking would be better as for a Friday late morning it was pretty full! We both had a full English - all really nicely cooked, hot and delicious! Coffee and Tea were good. All was reasonably priced for a village restaurant. The breakfast offer was varied, they also seemed to have a good selection of cake and I think I spotted a vegan option or two. Lovely place (perhaps a tad dated, but I think the popularity/food speaks volumes more than the decor) with indoor and outdoor seating. Nicely distanced tables and great service! Or takeaway if preferred. We will definitely go again!

Another visit to Barnard's today. While there we sampled the #Vegan breakfast wrap which was apparently delicious (think it had falafel avocados peppers lettuce vegan chili mayonnaise) and also a couple of Cream Teas. All seating outside, staff wearing PPE, tables sanitised after use, contactless payments. Delicious.

Good local restaurant, opens at 9:00 and does breakfast, coffees, cakes and lunch, not dinner. It's not a cheap and cheerful style, more refined. The food quality is good and the staff friendly and helpful.

Very friendly staff so I am very sorry to say,, very dated both food and decor. Mostly elderly customers. Just needs a lift for us. If it works for others; I apologise....

We have just had a delicious lunch in Barnards. We have lived within walking distance for 6months and kept meaning to go in and we were certainly not dissapointed. The restaurant is cosy and has lovely views of Denmead church with a nice seating area out back also. We had the fish and chips and the beef pie which were super tasty with excellent fresh vegetables. I also had a locally brewed ale which was great too. The staff were also very polite. We will definitely be back.

Offhand greeting , silently shown to our seats. Pancake stack was cold, bacon was undercooked and was luke warm. Maple syrup was also cold. Coffee tepid-hence one star . As one can tell by this review ,it was not a pleasant experience

Sorry not impressed with this restaurant, offers large or smaller potions, we opted for large, the meal that we were served was more like a smaller potion for the difference in the price of nearly four pounds not really good enough. Also ordered a shandy, it was warm, had no fizz, in proportion there was more beer than lemonade. We don't mind paying a reasonable price if it is good value for the money. Would not return to this restaurant.

I love this place. I've been here many times with my parents. The staff are always extremely welcoming and friendly. The food is fantastic. They are very accommodating to children - my son's been coming here since he was a baby, and now he's 4. Although there's no specific children's menu (that I've spotted), they've always been very accommodating to have something yummy for him to eat.

This is a fantastic Restaurant. Would thoroughly recommend visiting for a first class breakfast or evening meal.

Lovely food and good service. They serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas Tuesday to Saturday and dinner Friday and Saturday nights. Busy so best to book. Only negative is that it's noisy. Could do with some soft furnishings to absorb some of the noise.

Never a disappointment. Meals are all freshly prepared and served piping hot with lovely presentation. Always a good selection of home made cakes available. I have never found a better scone than those at Barnards.....and believe me I have eaten many!!
