My friend and I dined at the Coorie Inn yesterday evening. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The dining room is inviting and tastefully decorated with a plethora of interesting decorative features. Once seated, the friendly and attentive server (possibly the manager) confirmed my dietary requirements, immediately putting me at ease that I would be safely catered to. As a coeliac with several other allergies and menieres disease (salt restricted diet) I realise that I can be challenging to cater to, but it was clear my options had been discussed with the chef ahead of dining and everything was explained to me in terms of the ingredients and cooking methods. I opted for the mushroom starter, seabass as a main with a side of tenderstem broccoli and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. As my friend and I were sharing the side as suggested by the server, they provided the dressing separately so she could add to her portion, which was really accommodating. All courses were excellent, well presented and cooked beautifully. I dine out frequently and the Coorie Inn stood out as one of those rarer gems that try to ensure my experience was like that of other diners wherein items weren't removed from courses, rather I was provided with really good alternatives which I really appreciated. For both of us, the desserts were the star of the show. It was honestly one of the best desserts I've had in my life with a great variety of flavours and it didn't feel like catering to my requirements impacted on the quality. Often free from alternatives do not quite live up to the "normal" options and this was certainly not the case. All in all, it was a great evening with friendly, genuine and professional service. My only complaint is that the Coorie Inn isn't closer to me! I'd definitely recommend a visit to anyone in the area, particularly those with dietary requirements. You won't be disappointed with the options presented!

Phil, Andrew and their wonderful team have done an exceptional job and will no doubt be a roaring success. I have had the great pleasure of dining at the Coorie Inn several times now and each and every experience has been a sumptuous delight. This passed weekend, we calibrated my mothers 70th birthday with a Sunday lunch, which was exceptional in every regard. The Sunday roast was a perfectly cooked feast fit for a king, with impeccable service and the buzzing ambiance made it very hard to leave. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say, I cannot wait to return! Congratulations to you both!

We made a last minute booking mid-morning and arrived 5 hours later to a warm welcome from Lisa. Our room was spotlessly clean and spacious. The bar area is warm and cosy with an open fire, perfect for a pre-dinner drink and game of Backgammon. Dinner was truly delicious, plenty of choice. The roast potato’s were perfectly crispy and the beef “melt in the mouth”. The highlight for me had to be the pumpkin and gingerbread dessert, YUM! After a good nights sleep, we managed to wolf down fluffy pancakes and an amazing Scottish Breakfast before our departure! It was a pleasure to meet the owners and hear their amazing plans. Thank you Phillip and Andrew, we loved our stay and wish you every success. We will be back to see the renovations and bakery!

This is a new venture by 2 former Gleneagles Chefs. The chef and waitress are also from there. The Inn is warm and cosy wit a real fire in the small bar area and also a log burner in the dining room(awaiting a chimney lining but up and running soon) The Sunday lunch is a small menu but it has 4starters, 4 mains and 4 sweets. Everything is locally sourced and used in season as much as possible. The staff are warm and friendly and the service slick. The food was the star of the show. Prawn cocktail with really big prawns and not an over filled bowl of lettuce. That in itself is a plus point. The roast beef was melt in the mouth. The Yorkshire’s were big, but slightly overdone. Still very edible though. The sides of roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and a bowl of broccoli and kale. Extra heavy was also served. This is a good idea as sometimes only a small portion is put on the plate. The greens were cold, but everything else was very hot. The sweets were very well received and the cheese included the most tasty goats cheese. We had coffee in the small bar area next to the roaring fire. The decor is being upgraded soon , but it still has a nice, cosy feel. There are 6 rooms available too. Handy if you are having dinner and a wee drink. The Sunday lunch was buzzing. Good to see. All in all, this was a brave mov by these 2 young men and I wish them every success in the future.

Our third visit to the cosy and welcoming Coorie Inn - this time for the Sunday Roast. This was the first time we had eaten there with our 6 year old and she was made extremely welcome and entertained greatly by the fabulous whiteboards and pens. The owner and staff are genuinely warm and interested in their customers, which creates a special atmosphere. The bar is an inviting space for a pre lunch/dinner drink and the restaurant itself is full of character. The absolute highlight however is the food. The Sunday roast in particular was exceptional. We had the beef and it was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The side dishes are sumptuous, with generous portions. It felt like a luxurious feast! Starters and desserts equally delicious, and we ended the meal with a delightful cheese board. My daughter polished off her meal of pork sausages and was even served a dairy free vanilla ice cream, much to her delight. On previous visits, we have dined in the evening and found the quality to be equally high. The Coorie Inn is now firmly on our list of favourite places to eat in the area. We are thrilled to see an expanded wine/drinks list and look forward to sampling some of the new additions on our next visit. Keep up the good work, we are huge fans!

My husband and I come to the area once or twice a year and always treat ourselves to lunch at the Barley Bree. We booked for lunch and this time we were left disappointed. There were some noticeable changes. The Prix Fixe lunch is still advertised under special offers (albeit 2019), with the menu now being a la carte. So instead of £17.50 for two courses it’s now around £7.50 for a starter and £12.95 for a main course.Previously the home made bread was complimentary (now £3.95) and you used to get petits fours with the coffee (not any more!). It’s not just about the cost though. The menu wasn’t fantastic either. There was a pigeon breast main course (we usually see this as a starter) and the chicken and mushroom pie was topped with a thin layer of potato, lacked pieces of mushroom and didn’t come with any veg or side dishes (another £3.95 if you want something with your main). The food itself was nice but just didn’t seem to represent value for money. We realise businesses are having to recoup losses during lockdown but we felt that the experience for us as customers has been compromised as a result. There were only two desserts on the menu, neither of which we fancied. The service was still excellent though, with our server being really attentive, efficient and pleasant. Sadly I don’t think we’ll be rushing back on our next trip to the area...

It was all finished with a chocolate and honeycomb tart with grapefruit sorbet which I absolutely loved. In my opinion it rivalled any Michelin restaurant I’d been to in the past. Will definitely be back.

From the outside, you’d have no idea that such a charming and cosy restaurant with rooms dwells inside. The concept is interesting- if you’re wanting a night away where it’s more about the good food than a fancy room then this is the place for you. There’s a car park round the back but use at your own risk! (Although it was perfectly safe enough to do so). The rooms aren’t fancy but they are clean and well-kept. Extra communal loos are also available on the landing. Now the good part.... Pre-dinner drinks and olives were enjoyed in the cosy bar area whilst perusing the dinner menu. Dinner was pretty incredible: broccoli soup with a haggis bon bon made an entrance as the amuse bouche. Starters were pigeon breast (perfectly pink and tender) and a prawn cocktail with a really unique shard of crispy kelp and smokey caviar. Mains were pork belly (super fatty and indulgent) and venison (again, perfectly pink and tender). Unfortunately there was no room left for dessert or cheese... potentially regret this.... a bottle of red wine was enjoyed and perfectly complimented the game. Every dish was delicious and well-cooked. The ingredients used were elevated by their accompanying sides and sauces- no flavours were overshadowed and you could taste the quality in every bite. Staff were attentive throughout the whole meal. It was a lovely trip and even if you don’t stay the night, highly recommend the restaurant!

A special night out to celebrate Hogmanay with a wonderful 5 course taster menu of stunning and imaginative cuisine combining the best of French cooking with fantastic Scottish ingredients. Personal highlight was Parsnip Soup, served with Haggis, Rosemary and Chestnut Crumble. This was our first visit to Barley Bree - we will be back!

Visited here in October 2019. There were ten of us for my husbands 40th birthday. We didn’t order starters but I ordered the beef for my main. It was delicious and cooked really well. My friend ordered venison and was asked if she wanted the chef to choose the vegetables. She said yes but when it cane out there was no side order with it. She then had to ask for a separate portion. Everyone enjoyed their main courses and the service was good. For desserts a few of us opted for the cheeseboard which I can honestly say for a highly rated restaurant, was very poor. There was cheese of different varieties but that was it. No chutney or grapes and the waitress then came with a basket of biscuits which we expected her to leave between us all. But no, she asked us to just choose a couple then took it away! I’ve never seen anything like it. Overall we enjoyed our meal but considering the price of the food, I think it’s expensive for what it was. A note for the management also is that some background music would have been nice to create a bit of an atmosphere, which I felt was lacking.

The best food in the area with superb French cooking. Portion sizes seem small but the food is rich and you always come away feeling delightfully full. The only slight disappointment is that they don't stock the local Strathearn cheese, so I passed on a cheese course and went straight to coffee

This is an often underrated restaurant at which I've had many excellent meals over the years. Lunch today was no exception. Service was excellent, food was delicious and the settíng was lovely. A log burner was definitely required on this cold wet day!I started with a delicious pate and followed this with pork and finally a wonderful almond sticky toffee pudding. The food was excellent as were the wines.I will most definitely be back!

We decided to stop off for Sunday lunch and we were really impressed. I had the soup and then the roast beef, which I asked to be served rare. And it was, for the first time ever, and it was delicious as were the roast potatoes. W had the pickled herring and then the fish fillet, which again was excellent. Great service and a charming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We booked a table short before and went for a stroll in the nice town of Muthill. Although we were there before, we were welcomed a bit cold. The table we got was in the middle of the room although other tables were still free until we left. It seemed we got something nobody wanted. Anyhow, the food was excellent and we enjoyed it very much. Don't know if we did something wrong, but the service stayed like this. Even though we did not order a starter - we were not so hungry - we were paying guests.

4 of us visited the Barley Bree for the first time on Friday night last week. Very interesting menu and extensive wine list. The service was good, and the staff really friendly and helpful. Meals are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I had two starters so I could avoid eating carbs - a confit duck leg and scallops - both really tasty, nicely presented and not too much on the plate, which is as I like it. We had a bottle of Bulgarian chardonnay - not something I've ever had before, but very passable indeed. Total bill including tip £180.

We have visited this establishment several times for Sunday lunch over the last few years and although slightly more expensive than an average Sunday lunch, it was worth it due to the great quality food.

We had a lovely evening here on Sat night. It was nice to relax in a lovely bar area before our meal with an extensive wine list to choose from. The menu offered a good choice even for a fussy eater such as myself. Once our table was ready we were taken through to the dining room. The 'amuse bouche' we had prior to our starters was the best soup I have tasted in a long time and the haggis bon bon was very tasty. Even the bread and butter were far superior to anything I have tasted recently. Mains and starters were equally tasty, and although the meals were satisfying I still managed room for desert. Would thoroughly recommend the tarte tatin. We will be back.

First visit on a recommendation of friends. Very busy but good friendly service. Quality well ahead of expectations and priced about right. Pigeon starter and venison mains all enjoyed especially as we had a full Scottish meal. Wine list comprehensive and reasonably. Plenty of parking at back. Loved it and plan to bring friends, especially those visiting Scotland. Well done for showcasing Scottish produce so well!

We stayed over at the hotel on a Sunday and had dinner within the restaurant. The hotel staff were fantastic (Blake deserves special recognition - thank you!), and our room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The hotel is located centrally so it’s easy for access to local amenities. The food in the restaurant was excellent and great value. The place was buzzing so we were so lucky to have booked in advance. The locals clearly enjoy the restaurant and made for a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone for meals, drinks and stays.

The location, the restaurant, the staff and the food are all excellent. My partner and I had a truly wonderful Sunday lunch and each dish (cheese souffle, John Dory and blueberry pana cotta) worthy of 10 out of 10. scores. My only concern is that the 25% increase in the price may deter future customers.
