Having had a great time here pre pandemic and tied in with a cinema treat, we decided to do the same again. We walked into the venue from a very cold and draughty concourse. We found a table as far away from the door as possible to stay out of the cold. However, the whole venue was freezing cold. I’m not nesh but there was no way that I could have eaten there without wearing my winter coat. My Wife was freezing, so we left disappointed.

ROFL. Rude bar staff down stairs when asked to order drinks. No customer services skills. Can do with some customer service training

We went in to have a burger before we went to the cinema. When we order she said it will be about 15 minutes we ended up waiting 40 minutes for 2 burgers and 2 sides. I saw our food was ready there was two bar staff on and one person at the bar in the end I went a pick my own food up. When we started eating the food was cold . Very disappointed wot be going again.

First time visit to this venue and it was absolutely freezing - kept my coat on the whole time I was in there even when eating . Main meals for myself and my boyfriend were Luke warm and disappointing - no onion rings - no garlic mushrooms - steak had to be sent back as it was cold - then a pud had to be returned as it was also cold Too expensive for the poor quality and standard of food - the only plus point was the young lady who waited on us - smiley - friendly and very apologetic - WILL NOT BE RETURNING

Great time. Here , brilliant service all round , great food , and great people that can’t do enough, all round place to eat and have a nice drink 👍👍👍👍👍

After being told it was table service only, if waiting an age to be served, then waiting another age for your drink to arrive having seen it sit on the bar for 10 minutes then waiting half an hour for your food then having to ask for cutlery 3 times when your food is getting cold…. Is your idea of a well run bar then this is the place for you…. Shame really as the food was ok, as for the service…. Lmao…. Was even late getting in the movie, which was the whole point of eating there in the first place

Absolute shocking service from staff, they need a can of red bull of something to waken them up service is absolutely slow as ever, this is the second time being here and it’s happened again. Last time I come I had to go to the bar myself to ask for service… they said it’s table service but I am not willing to wait 15 minutes for somebody to come and take my drink order when the bar had about 6 other customers in. Please manager of bar social train your staff to be attentive and efficient. PS the cocktail was poor quality, didn’t reflect the price :))))) many thanks bar social.

Lady with short hair and glasses has made me and the bird I'm with write 2 reviews each on Google and here. Really really really really really nice. I expect her to have some banging payrise. Very knowledgeable and welcoming to us. Amazing drinks and just a very warm personality. Great experience. Btw it's da boy wiv green top and bird with blonde hair who looks 12 (she's 19 don't worry) lol

Came in for a couple of drinks before our dinner reservation, and the whole visit was great. We were greeted promptly by a very polite man (sorry I didn’t catch the name), we were then seated and served quickly. The drinks arrived and the cocktails were delicious, definitely recommend the white chocolate martini! Service was great, And although we didn’t eat the food smelt delicious! Covid measures were clearly adhered to, and we will definitely be back :)

Before i start i need to say that we went whilst the 'Eat out To Help out' scheme was on, but it was my daughters B'day and given the fact she is over 20yrs old we have been celebrating her Birthday on Her day before this Scheme was in place. The Young Lady who waited on us was great, unfortunately the Manager is down right rude and unprofessional.... he was so rude to my Mother in Law, that my Son had to step in and ask if he was here to Argue or take our food order......which we had already been kept waiting 40 minutes to do........ The food arrived 2hrs later @ 2050hrs.........it was awful, not one person in our party of 8 finished the meal with 2 not even attempting to start the meal as it looked so awful. My advise........Stay away, don't give this place your hard earned money regardless of the Scheme, find somewhere else......i'd even suggest to local Chippy as the food was nicer there.......(we had to call for chips on the way home due to being incredibly hungry) Bar Social - Lose the Manager and put in someone who wants to work for you not against you. He is wasting someones wages being there. B

Visited Bar social for food and drinks on a Saturday night, booked a table with the covid situation to make sure we got one. We were seated after sanitising a texting a number for track and trace which is a good idea. Our table was out of the way from others. Ordered 2 pizzas, chips and 3 tapas between 4 of us which was plenty.. really nice food especially the pizza! Staff friendly and attentive ! Will visit again

Very disappointed with the customer service provided during my visit. Doing rounds with my friends, double pink gin and lemonade. I have a swig and the lemonade is flat. Not too bothered, simple enough to get a new one. I approach the bar and the table organiser or whatever he was comes over and rudely says “where are you going now?” To which I replied “to get this flat lemonade changed if that’s okay with you”? Safe to say it was not okay for this employee who came back and said “how about you just get a refund and leave”. I was not best pleased with this response based on something simple being dragged out of proportion. I went and sat back down at my table only to be approached by the two bouncers who may I add were on my side after the story was explained. Overall very poor and would highly recommend staying away from the venue.

Had a spontaneous night out on a Monday, never expect anything special but the food was amazing. The service was incredible and so welcoming, didn’t have to leave our seats once. The music played was so good thank you to the guys who served us, something special x

Decided to pop into Bar Social as the cinema viewing we wanted to see was full so waited an hour for the next one. As it was a Friday night the bar area was full, the dining area was completely empty. We politely asked (party of 4) to sit on a table to have our drinks and got told ‘unless you order food you are not sitting there’ and then I heard one of the staff members joke with the manager that if no one sits in the dining area it will mean they can finish quicker.

I can’t judge this place for the food as we never actually ate here. I booked a table a few weeks prior to needing the reservation, a table of 6 for a long planned night out. On the day of the booking 6 hours before the time we were due to arrive I had a call cancelling due to a last minute change to another booking!! Not acceptable!! This was going to be my first visit however I doubt will ever visit now given the unprofessional, short notice of the cancellation leaving us with nowhere to go!

Everything was fab. Food, service, atmosphere, location. Definite hidden gem and great value for money

This is always a venue for the NuL jazz festival. Beers are okay, but limited. The acoustics are very god and staff friendly.

New cocktail menu has an impressive array of beautiful drinks that not only suit my sweet tooth but my sassy and sophisticated side! Finally a place that can satisfy my love for a good cocktail and with the added bonus of 2 for £10 during the week! Happy days!

If you need a venue for any occasion BAR SOCIAL is the best place around! By farI held a charity event here last night (Sat 11th) upstairs with a live band THE TASK that got everyone up dancing all night long!Prior to this the arrangements with the manager Dan,Vinay and Lee have been a pleasure, nothing is too much trouble ,the customer service is 5*. They and their staff made sure my evening was a massive success, from the pleasant smiling bar staff serving a great variety of gins and beers to serving chips at the interval Well done BAR SOCIAL. Thank you for making everyones night (130 party people) !!!!

Food is amazing and the cocktails are delicious! Would definitely recommend the taco’s and the Malteser mousse is mouthwatering stuff!!! Best desert I have had in a long time

We have been going to bar social for a while for pre cinema meals!! And lunches as the meals are always nice and reasonable price! Recently we visited and found a new menu with new chef and what a difference! Absolutely gorgeous food and table service! Drinks are lovely too and good cocktail menu!! Well done!!! Definitely my favourite place in Newcastle for food, drinks and music!!

Used to come in a lot but don’t need think I’m going to bother after the last few times. Everyone looks depressed, can’t have a laugh with the staff, management changes every other week and prices are a good quid higher than what you can get down the road and you can’t get half the stuff they sold before. Plus there’s a weird smell on the stairs now since they put in that new carpet! Give it 12 months and there’ll be a Nando’s in its place, wasted space in an empty cinema.

We went there first for a family meal. All other food was fine but my Hunters Chicken was cold while everything else on the plate warm. Second visit at both visits to the bar asked for Duvel, just to be handed the bottle and had to ask for a glass on both occasions

Return visit to Bar Social, this time with the kids. Again, food (burgers, steak, SFC strips, salad, mozzarella sticks) was really nice. The burgers were thick and juicy, the rump steak was cooked nicely. The side orders were as expected, good food and in a timely fashion. We had a meal and sides and drinks for 4 and it cost less than £50. Still recommend this place for food and families, don't listen to the moaners.

My husband and I visited Bar Social on Wednesday 12 December for date night. When we arrived it was pretty quiet as it was only 5.30 but there were people having a drink at the bar but we wanted food and was told we could sit anywhere so we sat in one of the booths. We have been to Bar Social many times and have been pleased with the service, and it’s good value for money. However we waited a long time for 2 Pepsi Max’s and when we ordered our food we were told that they had no Halloumi so I had scampi and chips instead. My husband ordered fish and chips and paid the bill. Shorty after, a member of staff approached our table and confirmed that they also had run out of fish so my husband had to choose something else and went for a burger. When the food came out it was rather average, my scampi had seen better days and was bland. The mushy peas were clearly out of a can and it came with fries, not chips as stated on the menu. My husband’s burger looked quite good and it came plain as requested. I didn’t complain at the time about my scampi due to the lack of staff and at least the sweet potato fries were tasty. There is no excuse for not having items on the menu, the menu isn’t that large but other places in the area do food better than Bar Social.

We visited Bar Social for lunch before going to the Vue cinema next door.

Popped in here for a quick snack - lovely atmosphere, great choice of food and drinks, the strawberry fizz mocktail was nice and the Camembert and bread was lovely. The chips were also nice. I would recommend this place 👍🏻

Out with friends for our monthly get together we visited her as part of our Newcastle pub tour. Well busy, we waited an age to get served but it's a nice venue and worth the wait.

Went here for a party in the upstairs room and was very well accommodated. Great choice of drinks and not bad prices for a gin bar. Friendly bar staff.

Fancied a trip to the cinema and called in for a drink lol ended up having gammon and chips really nice food very pleasant staff waitress was lovely definitely go again very good service

Just been to bar social for a pre-cinema meal. Although it was quiet it was not awkward. Just a nice relaxed atmosphere. Always clean, friendly and welcoming. Food was great especially as it was on ‘buy one main meal get one half price’. Highly recommend as a restaurant in Usually bring our 3 teenage boys with us as plenty of choice. Love it in here!

Four of us had food here this evening.Lovely,relaxed atmosphere in a colourful,modern setting.Three of us had the chicken burgers.Best chicken i’ve ever tasted!The young chef with lighter coloured hair and glasses (I think?) obviously knows how to cook and present food well!The pickled onion rings were amazing too!Pleasant staff also made our visit all the more pleasurable.Definately be back again if the young guy is still a chef there all the better!Keep up the good work :)

As we were at the cinema we decided to try this place again ; once again very few people in and not much atmosphere. We must be visiting too early - it was around 4-5 pm this time

Popped in on Saturday night. Amazing!! Love the decorations and the fact you can see into the kitchen. Watched in amazement as my chicken was actually cooked to order!!! And the chefs actually seasoned it too!!! Made such a difference. Staff looked busy and well dressed too except for 1 young lad who had scruffy hair and was stood at the end of the bar fiddling with the TV remote for ages. While music was playing???

Some really nice food choices, including tapas style small plates of topped fries, halloumi fries, wings etc, as well as some big grilled burgers. Nice cocktails too!

i visited bar social yesterday with a group of friends to try out the new frozen gin cocktails, a blonde lady served me medium built but seemed like she did not want to be at work, no smile no interaction,rushed service demanded the money,felt awkward and unwanted in the bar, apart from poor service the gin cocktail was fab and the atmosphere was great except being served what felt like a robot.

I also agree with the reviews regarding problems with the toilet facilities. On Saturday night the upstairs mens toilets were shut well before closing time and the only toilet available was the downstairs DISABLED toilet which was broken (the flush didn't work).

The evening started out incredibly pleasantly, half a shandy at Mellards, a quick sherry round the corner at the black friar and based on a majority decision we decided to pop into bar social for VLS' (vodka lime and soda). All was progressing well, the atmosphere was nice, the bar staff appeared to understand all the ingredients of the VLS what more could be asked for. The night drew on and finally the time had come, damn busters, it was the point in the evening when the pressure from the previous drinks was too much and the release value had to be used. Looking to use the gents I was met with a sign stating that the toilets where undergoing a "clean" and so only the single disable cubicle would be available. Strange I pondered, as this was a Saturday night and I would expect heavy foot fall at the aforesaid porcelain palace, however I decided to try out the alternative facilities. I'm not saying it was bad, but I left that tiny, near airtight room, with tears running down my cheeks. The flush was broken and someone who I'm guessing had a bit of an upset stomach had left a large unflushable deposit. Not the best end to an evening

I agree with previous review the toilets upstairs are closed regularly at least an hour before closing time, I use the bar quite regular and I'd say it happens 3 out of 4 times, for the manager to deny this is disgusting. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS

I’ve had some great nights in Bar Social over the last few years. Great beer, friendly bar staff. However, one thing is starting to consistently annoy me, and that is the frequent ‘closing’ of the men’s toilets for cleaning during opening hours. This is a contravention of the pubs duty to ensure the health and safety of members of the public under section 3 of the Health and Safety Act 1974. I suggest management revise the hygiene schedule in-line with legislation.

Came with friends. Advised to order food in advance- can’t see why. I’d describe it as ‘drinking food’ . It’s good for stomach layering but gastronomic delight it is not. But it does what it says on the menu !!!

We came in for food before heading off to watch a movie... first off was the cocktail Alabama slammer made me want to ditch the movie and stay drinking lol

Hubby and I came in after the cinema for an evening meal. We ordered a rare sirloin steak and a medium mixed grill. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our meal and were getting worried that wed made a mistake coming in as this is not our usual type of place. However a large rhubarb gin helped pass the time, slightly pricey but it is premium quality gin so I would expect to pay the same anywhere.

Went for a quick bite before a film. Place was empty when we arrived so thought there should have been no issues in food wait time. Food arrived very quickly. Burgers all round... Pretty poor to be honest, not very hot and not great quality. Coleslaw side was a bit of a joke, what's wrong with some side salad! Wouldn't recommend it at all, subway is better quality and cheaper than this junk and if you want a decent burger try elsewhere!

Went in for a coffee/drink prior to going to cinema. Walked out after hanging around at the bar to get served for more than 10 mins. Don’t bother going if you are over 25 since you will wait all night to get served.

Called in here after seeing a film - nice lagers (Blue Moon on draught) and nice environment - it was quiet although it was fairly late. Around £4/4.50 a pint so not the cheapest place but it's well worth a visit.

Been here quiet a few times, not the usually service. Bar is great it has good range of craft beers extensive range of gins. We have meal ordered a starter and mains. To all our amazement starter arrived with our mains. The plates were cold, as was the food. We didn't have time to send food back so we made do. Waitress young girl came and took our plates and asked how our food was, we said not the best and we were left speechless when she said "well it's here" then she walked off with our plates.

We went as a group of friends on a Saturday night and was surprised by the amount of people in there, it was busy maybe because of the cinema nearby. Drinks are not cheap and we only stayed for one.....

We popped in for a quick bite, the food was terrible. Burnt burger over cooked fries, the lasagne was worse than Iceland’s dodgy equine variety!! We had to wait over 1.5 hours for these delights, on a quiet Tuesday. Truly awful, avoid at all cost go to McDonalds or Burger King (directly across form here) if you want a better food.

Bar social in vue cinima is a lovley place to go for a drink or for food. My son plays footi just down the road so we pop in every once a week to wait for him wile he trains. We take my 5 year old and normally I would be not normally be out with him at this time but we my son is at Footi not worth driving the 30/mils round trip..

I came in on Tuesday night for a drink and the bar was quite busy. There were two members of staff on the bar that were trying hard to get everyone served quickly - I was sat at the end of the bar near the brick wall. The young man went through the door to what I assume is an office or staff room. I only assume this because from inside that room there was a lot of shouting to the tone of 'I'm too busy to serve'. The young man left that room looking annoyed which is understandable after being yelled at. I overheard him saying to the young girl that the manager was watching cartoons rather than serving.

The bar it self is nicely decorated and has friendly bar staff, however the food we had was the worst we have experienced in years, my burger was black and burnt and the chips were over cooked and greasy, I actually left half of the meal is was that poor.

The "starters" came out at the same time as the main course and they were all burnt like cinders. There was also the Man City v Liverpool match in progress but the staff hadn't even turned on the TV's and this is supposed to be a sports bar.

Arrived a little too early for our film so decided to go here. First time we had been ...walked in about 430pm and there was already a fair few in !!

First visit here today and we weren't disappointed. Lots of seating and a ramp for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Waiting staff were pleasant. Food was lovely and it's nice to see an open kitchen so you can watch the chef at work. Not a long wait time between ordering and it being delivered. Everything tasted fresh. Good range of drinks available. Never seen a gin and tonic so big.

Have been a regular visitor to Bar Social since it opened and I've generally enjoyed my visits for food or just a drink. After tonight I will certainly not be returning for food if at all. My wife and I both ordered burgers with fries as we were heading to nearby Vue Cinema and did not have long. Food arrived in record time, but the burgers were black, the fries so over cooked they were just shells, even my wife's toasted brioche was burnt and the onion rings resembled a genetic experiment of some kind. If you are looking for somewhere to have a drink by all means give it a go but avoid like the plague if it is food you are after. I was offered complementary drinks but didn't have the time. My complaint was going to be passed on to the head chef but a line cook can cook a burger and fries and if they can't they certainly should not be in a kitchen.

What happened to the lovely bar that opened in 2015, where you actually got your value for money and a smile from the staff! Visited tonight with some friends to have a nibble and a drink. Drinks were average, ordered some food and that's where things went completely downhill if I wanted a kids portion I would have ordered a kids portion. Ordered some pulled pork fries and what I got was 10 chips, 2 teaspoons of pork and a sprinkle of cheese, I remember the days when I was able to come and get a full plate piled high and guess what FOR THE SAME PRICE. Completely disappointed by this place, absolutely shocking staff that have faces that looks like they have been cleaning portaloos for the past 2 hours and crap food.

We really enjoy the laid back atmosphere in the bar and the gin bar upstairs is brilliant. They have a fantastic range of drinks and the sharing platters are great value for money, perfect for groups and our daughter loves the nibbles. Great for a pre cinema drink or for a big night out

We visited the Bar Social on Saturday lunchtime for a quick meal before leaving for the weekend and we were not disappointed. The service has been really good, from the young lady at the bar that served us to the (I assume) the bar manager that checked on us while there. The food did not take long, was in big portions and delicious. The coleslaw was really nice! Definitely coming again, but maybe with more time. If I have to find one flaw, it would probably be the table we sat at: it was perfectly clean but the material of the table made it "stains" almost immediately with anything (the condense of the glass "stained" the table top) and it does not look nice with a light on. But, table top aside, it was great!

chilled mid week cocktails. the cocktails were delicious. we tried alot of the menu including, Mojitos. Pina colada, strawberry daiquairi, twisted sex on the beach and an espresso martini. All very nice. nice decor, chilled atmosphere. pretty quiet. great location

Where do i start shocking service from the barmans attitude who was shocking yh fair enough a stag party can let loud but when there is 15 of us paying for beer from your bar manners wouldn't go a miss the toilets could also do with a good clean used toilet paper all other the cubicle and it also smelled of cigarettes we ordered a plate of chips and cheese witch came cold iam gladly safe to say we will not becomeing back to this bar also we asked for the mangers name and number but the barman in question wouldn't tell us !!!!!!

I came alone during the Jazz and Blues festival. The atmosphere was friendly and a guy called Ben always checked if I would like another drink. Bar staff like Ben make this bar so much better than your standard chain bars in any town and I really enjoyed my visit due to him. Visit again? Deffo.

We visited here for lunch on Good Friday. There was just one barman/waiter on despite it being Good Friday! He did his best, but was obviously struggling to run both the bar and serve food. The food was ok..we were only looking for a simple meal, no frills. It was ok.This place could be better, it has a pleasant atmosphere and is in a good location. A shame really!

Came in with friends on Monday (6th) night before going to the cinema. We had prebooked a table before arriving - bearing in mind this is a bar in a cinema and looking at the previous reviews on here I wasn't expecting much on arrival. However the young man serving us was very polite and helpful, our table had been set up nicely and food was quick to come out.There are two issues I had with my experience overall. Firstly, the kitchen seemed disorganised for a quiet Monday night - no chocolate ice cream and one of our deserts had plastic in it. Again the young man serving us was apologetic and had this taken off our bill, but the rest of us were put off eating our deserts after this. The second is that the place appeared understaffed. From what we could tell, there was one man working in the kitchen and one working as both the bartender and waiter - at one point when a group of people came into the bar whilst our food was being served, the waiter looked a little panicked. Service didn't slip but he did seem a little rushed.Overall a good experience, I would definitely try this place again.

First time trying out bar social for pre-movie drinks - totally disappointed at the time to not get served at a time when it wasn't particularly busy so god help you when it does.Arrived 8:00 - left 8:15 after being completely ignored so popped across the road to a place that was busier and got served within a few minutes

We came to your venue few months backWe waited 1hr45 mins for food as bowling food ordered after us was cooked first but we were told it won't be long They gave us complementary drinks even thought stated clearly non alcoholic cocktail it came with alcohol in as a recovering alcoholic I was disgusted by this iv been sober 17yrs , however when food did arrived was lovely had steak sandwiches was lovely but in my return on Sunday I was greeted by a hung over bar tender stated it was his 21st last night still hanging "great first impression not" then to be told no waitress to take food order order at bar Then ordered my drink was dreadful bitter sharpe not like we had ordered without alcohol so better then before then we the food did come thought nice steak sandwich but NO we weren't ask how we wanted are steak cooked and it was all full 2 bits of cremated steak tasted allful so burnt all I could taste was charcoal waiter came ask if everything was ok I said not really my steak is cremated chips were cold he was like great ok just walk of staff were to busy talking to each other to care bout customers so I will no be returning Sent from my iPhone

I visited bar social on Wednesday (1/2) and as usual i enjoyed it. The staff were pleasant and helpful and with this being my first time eating there i was not disappointed, i had the big kahuna burger that was fantastic and the person i was with had the chorizo pasta which was very well sized and was thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere was relaxed and we weren't forgotten about, the staff really wanted to make sure we were enjoying our visit. Will definitely be returning and recommending

Went late yesterday with my partner after the cinema hoping for some good food as resisted the usual cinema confectionary. Staff seemed disinterested on entering. It wasn't busy but service was slow from ordering to receiving the food. We are never the sort to complain so ate the just near passable food and left. Next time we visit the cinema we will go to Pizza Hut instead as at least you can tuck into the salad bar while you are waiting for your food to be cooked.

I write this review with a heavy heart and I've been to bar social many times before, however the service that we received as a group was the worst I've ever experienced!. Like I say I like bar social so suggested we visit for a works night out as a group of 10, I wanted to take people who had never been to try and show what a grey bar it was and hopefully help them out by getting them future custom how stupid do I feel now!. We arrived and were told to sit down as we had the table for the night, great no problems so far. However after about 20 mins of waiting no one came and greeted us and explained our food was coming. I went up and just explained that we were all here and would they mind sending the food out. Eventually the food did start coming out and it was nice as expected. After deserts we were waiting another 30 mins with dirty plates on the table!, eventually the majority of our group left and I tried to get the bill, which eventually arrived. My issue is they had 3 young girls working that day, I don't understand why you employ people in customer service jobs who have no customer service skills!. A simple your food will be 10 mins would have sufficed or a simple noticing that we have dirty plates on the table. From other reviews I've read bar social seem to struggle with large groups but the issues appears that some of the staff spend more time talking at the bar that actually serving customers!. At the end of the day I took 9 new people to your bar and you've lost future custom from them and also me from a simple lack of basic customer service!.

Visited today while out shopping with my partner. I had the fried chicken blue cheese chilli jelly melt ,my other half had steak ciabatta with sweet potato chips. We asked for the ciabattas to be split so we had half steak half chicken on each other's plate and both tasted very very good sweat potato chips were the nicest chips I've tasted. We also had dessert I had the keylime cheesecake and partner had Oreo cheesecake mine was to die for was gorgeous. Had a taste of partners and his was delicious to. Very friendly service will be paying bar social a visit very soon again. Really good food for a very reasonable price..

20 minutes of no eye contact by the staff. People served before us. Won't he back. When approached by staff, pointed them towards the person next to me who had been waiting even longer.

Fantastic food, friendly staff with a lovely welcome atmosphere. Plenty of places to park nearby. Will definatly be return soon.

Came in for the first time this weekend (Friday 2nd December) for a drink with friends - with this bar being in the cinema complex it's easy to miss if you didn't know it was there. But it is by far one of the best places in town. Drinks are a reasonable price and of a huge variety of bottled beers and tonnes of different spirits, many of which I had never heard of before. Staff were all very friendly and professional. Bearing in mind that the bar was completely packed the bar staff were extremely attentive and made us feel welcome each time we came to get drinks. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious - I had the steak sandwich which came with chips and a side salad. It was just so filling! The waiting on staff that served us is a credit to the place. Even with rowdier tables near to us making a fuss, they remained professional at all times. And to top it all off (literally) there is a second bar on the floor above that specialises in gins, all served with flowers and fruits in. This kept my girlfriend happy while I sampled some of their ales.All in all, a brilliant experience - we will definitely be returning again soon.

Bar service was great, prices are reasonable but the food was 2 hours late for a pre-booked meal.Staff arguing with the customers did not help.

Myself and some work colleagues visited Bar Social for pre Christmas drinks. A lovely selection of cocktails were offered to us and we were made feel welcome. We must emphasise how well mannered and trained the staff are as there was a rather rude group of people on a table near ours causing a scene, and over exaggerating a minor complaint to do with their food order. Roughly 15 people. 1 gentleman in particular was down right vulgar and abusive to a young waitress serving their food who should be rather ashamed of himself. Management dealt with the awkward situation that he had created extremely calmly and in an understanding manner and offered them an undeserved refund. We shall definitely revisit as the evening was busy but still fast service and above expectation, for both food and drinks. Looking into arranging a Christmas work do if bookings are available. Fantastic atmosphere overall despite being rudely interrupted by the group of ill mannered individuals who were set on attempting to ruin a positive night. Well done to all staff at bar social

We booked bar social for our Christmas party. Our table for 14 was booked for 19:30. Once all the party arrived we we asked if we wanted to be seated, or were happy in the bar until the food was ready. We chose the latter option. The bar was busy and hence the service was slow. At 20:15 we asked to be seated as surely the food was ready. It took until 21:00 for the food(starters).When the food did arrive we were one short. More of this later...We complained and were told the kitchen had lost staff recently and was behind. No one else was eating!! The manager explained our food was next and gave the table two bottles of prosseco and £5 off our next meal (which won't get used). We waited 30 minutes more for the food to arrive. Again another meal was missing? We spoke to the staff who said that all the food we preordered was delivered. They made accusations that one of the party had eaten two meals!! It transpired that we added one to the party three days prior to the booking and no one had recorded the amendment! The food is very basic burgers and hot dogs with McCain steakhouse chips, not fries as advertised. Nothing to get excited about really basic fare which should be quick to serve.The missing started turned up after everyone had eaten their main meal! It was quite rightly refused and returned to the kitchen. We decided to forgo the deserts and cut our losses as we had all had enough. The staff happily refunded the balance, including the missing starter and meal. McDonald's was paid a visit after by the hungry members of the party. A total disaster. You should not take a large booking if the kitchen can not cope.

Met some friends for drinks, pleasant enough. Would recommend after playing the Escape Rooms. Toilets were a bit dirty could do with a clean.

Popped in after the cinema.. Steak sandwich for the wife Gourmet Burger for me..both very tasty and at the right price. The Gin bar looked great but wasn't open at the time. Worth a second visit i think.

Went in the other weekend for the first time, bar staff were awful and had no knowledge of the menu when i asked about a soya allergy. Luckly a tall girl came out of the kitchen and helped me go through what i could have. I have never been in before and i must say that the bar staff were a let down to the place, when i had the food it was fab and great value for money. I wouldnt come back for the service though it let the whole place down.

I had a great surprise 18th here. The room upstairs was all ours. Staff lovely and helpful. Cocktails are amazing here too.

Me and my wife have walked past Bar Social many times during our cinema trips. This time we finally decided to pay a visit for a drink, after our movie had finished. The bar staff were very welcoming, and after my wife ordered gin, they mentioned that an upstairs gin bar would be open in an hour. This delighted my wife, and we decided to stay for a bit longer than we had planned so she could sample the upstairs. However, during our time waiting at the bar a tall kitchen worker repeatedly came out of the kitchen and used language that we did NOT appreciate! Although she was not talking to us, we found it to be a very unsettling environment, and not one that any customer should have to deal with. Although the bar staff continued to be polite and friendly during these moments, it was easy to tell that they also felt very uncomfortable during these encounters. I am sure that whatever the problem was in the kitchen, swearing in front of customers did not solve it. Needless to say we decided to leave instead of waiting. Regrettable end to the night.

On the way to the cinema, me and my wife decided that we would go to the bar for a bite to eat and a few drinks. We sat just in front of the kitchen. I cannot complain about the food. However, there was a tall brown haired girl who was very loud and created a negative atmosphere. The bar staff and a young girl who was mostly in the kitchen made us feel very welcome. there was a young gentleman who i suspect was a manger, wearing a pink shirt, was very polite and gave us a warm welcoming.

popped in to bar social before a film in the cinema on a saturday. was quite busy but still received food in a reasonable amount of time. 3 young girls in the kitchen, 2 serving and one tall girl on her phone. food was delicious apart from the chicken which was slightly overcooked and dry, bit expensive though. bar staff and waitresses were lovely. worth a visit

As we'd heard about this new venue decided to call in for a look - it was Saturday lunchtime ; it was empty.The menu looked good and the advertising for cocktails etc probably means it is a night time venue - As we are real ale and cider drinkers maybe this isn't the place for us , but from the reviews on TripAdvisor it is obviously very popular ; Maybe we will have to give it a try one evening rather than during the day?

I have an allergy to cow's milk. Whilst I appreciate that places don't have to provide food that is allergy free, I did have the choice of (just) a couple of items in the menu. I chose the tuna Niçoise salad.It was tinned tuna, with a few leaves of salad which were obviously out of a bag, a boiled egg and a few very cheap olives.Not inspiring at all.

Loverly food though over priced if you go after 5pm as the 2 for 1 stops then . Needs to make clear whats included and whats not in the 2 for 1. After a family party we found 4 extra items attatched to our table bill we had not ordered. And the till ordering system needs to be better.

Visited for a private party. Fantastic place, excellent staff, good food, and reasonable priced drink. All staff very helpful, and knowledgable, wonderfully supervised by Alice.

Myself and Partner came for a meal before our film at the cinema, the food was ok however we felt it was slightly over priced for what we had, our nacho starter came without the dips that it said they would come with on the menu and when we asked about it our waitress just took it away without apologising and then just put it back on the table again without an apology (obviously not her fault but would've been nice to have maybe said "sorry about that, enjoy your meal"?) we were never asked if we would like anymore drinks or any sauces for our meals etc, small things like that are a nice little touch when eating out. The food was nice and I would go back but I would've enjoyed our evening a lot more if the staff were a little bit more attentive. Not saying that we didn't enjoy our meal but just a little bit of constructive criticism, we'll try another night out with you on our next date night

Went here for drinks not long after it opened and had some great cocktails last year and decided to go for a food a few weeks ago. The food was lovely and the staff we great. Love the atmosphere in there it's so quirky and has lots of different spirits to choose from behind the bar would definitely recommend

My Husband and I work very busy shifts and don't get to go out much so we decided to take a drive out and see where we end up! Thank goodness we found this place!!As soon as we walked through the door we thought "oh no, its so busy!" but a young lady greeted us straight away and asked if we were dining. She allowed us to sit wherever we wanted and gave us a few moments to settle before she came over with food menus and to take our drinks order.I drove so had some lovely mocktails - the strawberry one was so refreshing! My Husband tried about 3-4 different cocktails from the menu and enjoyed every one!Our starters arrived - I would give the advice of share the nachos! The portion was HUGE! It was very tasty and we ate them all!My Husband ordered the Hot Dog for his main and he said it was delicious - I was a little disappointed with my pasta dish though (it was very greasy and watery so I didn't eat it!) I didn't complain because they were very busy, and actually, we still thoroughly enjoyed our visit.In my opinion i think this is more of a burger/hotdog/meat kind of place and will be sticking to this type of food next time, but we will 100% be returning as the staff were so friendly and the food came out quickly and well presented even though they were so busy!Thank you for such an enjoyable evening!

I can't recommend this bar enough.Held a leaving party upstairs in the Gin bar - amazing range of gins - lively bar staff who were friendly and professional also very knowledgeable about the various gins.A great space and very comfortable.The food was tasty.Thankyou Adam and all the team for a memorable evening
