Bar Milano in South Lanarkshire

Definitely won’t be back Our pints of lager had a strange stale taste. My husband couldn’t make up his mind if it was coming from the pipes. Maybe needing rinsed. It was a pity as we were really looking forward to a pint after a long walk round Chatelherault country park. The venue really has to do something about the bad odour coming from the gents toilets, it was a noticeably bad smell from several tables away. Yuck! Our food was average but the price was fine. When we first arrived I remember thinking gosh, this music is quite loud. The longer we sat the more annoying it got. Definitely not an appropriate volume for people trying to eat and talk to each other. Won’t be back

Finally a great "pizzaiolo"! I was missing for about a month and a half since the pizzas were not up to standard. I decided to go back for 5 pizzas take away and I found out that a new pizzaiolo was hired. What a great choice they did and what a pizza! We usually make our pizzas at home since we never find one that is close to the real Italian standard, now we can finally have a rest and have ours made at Bar Milano.

We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon and our dog joined us too. Beautiful food and atmosphere with service to match. Friendly, welcoming and great food to top the afternoon off. The level of service and quality food made us stay longer as lovely ho have the pooch here too. We'll done Bar Milano...a good news story for Hamilton

This is a nice place for coffee but unfortunately although there is a ramp for wheelchair, it is on 2 levels and quite steep and not easy for pushing the chair. We used to visit often but now cannot manage to go because of the steep ramp

An afternoon catch up with between mum and daughter (16.01.2032), extended into a fabulous evening thanks to the attentive staff. We were made to feel very welcomed, couldn’t have asked for better service, thank you very much Connor and Darren for making this so, we will certainly be back. 🙂

Just back from Bar Milano and wanted to take the time to thank Darren and his staff for everything they did for us today. Things didn't quite go as planned but Darren made sure we had the best time, kept the drinks flowing and even helped us onto to our next stop by booking taxis for us all. Brilliant customer service from him. Many thanks again!

Five years ago we spent a week in Rome and the difference between pure Italian Pizza & that which we are accustomed to here in the U.K. bares no comparison! Just had a Pizza in Bar Milano and it has to be said it was AS GOOD as the real thing in Rome. Bravo & well done Bar Milano! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

As we were only a table of 2 we seemed to be invisible to the staff. When our food was brought to us we were given no cutlery, had to ask someone to bring it for us. We had to repeatedly ask for things because they weren’t done the first time we asked. Trying to get someone to serve us drinks was beyond a joke. We went to the bar because we had waited so long to get drinks & were sent away. In the end we got a pizza box & took our food home. Absolutely the worst service which was incredibly disappointing as it’s our first night out in over a year. The most helpful person was the doorman who got us the pizza boxes because none of the waiting staff could be bothered. Pizzas were nice but not worth the terrible experience we had.

Three quiet middle-aged men have a table outside and the service is super quick and friendly…what a lovely night. With no one around us, my friend lights a cigarette and a couple more in the next few hours…no signs to say otherwise and nothing said either by staff or other patrons. A few hours later and enter ‘Core Security’…the thug approaches us and aggressively tells him to go to the smoking area which when pointed out, we can see a cordoned-off area in the car park. Whilst chatting and being the forgetful character he is, he lights another and Mr. Thug approaches and even more aggressively my friend gets scolded - “I won’t tell you again” and then storms off to escalate to his supervisor. Enter the rottweiler…I honestly thought this guy was going to lunge at him! Wow! The bar manager came quickly and de-escalated the situation but explained they have had issues with this firm on several occasions and he couldn’t have been more apologetic…well-handled Sir. Anyway, we leave (earlier than expected sadly) and I can honestly say I couldn’t ever consider returning to Bar Milano as long as this is their chosen security company.

Popped in to Bar Milano for a couple of pizzas. Had a bit of a wait on food but restuarant was empty. First the order was wrong. Waited on new pizza and it came completely covered in chilli flakes. It was impossible to even eat a bite! The side order of chips and stuffed peppers were cold. The worst ever! Some one needs to tell the pizza chef it is not good business to try to kill the customers. Will not be back.

We visited for an outdoor lunch and drinks with our dogs. I have loved bar Milano but unfortunately my visit did not live up to previous experiences: Pros- Outdoor space has been extended and big sports tv outdoors Dog friendly Authentic pizzas friendly staff- great with the dogs and brought them a bowl of water Cons- Price of drinks especially now that they no longer offer proper daiquiris due to time it takes and charging £7.50 for a cheap slush from machine The menu is very limited which wouldn’t be an issue if it wasn’t for the fact burgers are made in restaurant kitchen and pizza in bar… meaning room for miscommunication… my partner didn’t even receive his food in our visit Some Staff appear very young and inexperienced, seemed to be poor communication in general and run off their feet- though it wasn’t that busy I think the owner is needing to focus more on supporting staff and assessing system issues than throwing more seats and cutting corners with quality. Hopefully just teething issues and will be back to usual standard soon

Thursday night is ladies night - bottle of wine and focaccia for £9.95...providing they remember to put the order through for the focaccia! And when they forget and it’s too late...all the manager can do is apologise. Not make an small token gesture toward the bill (several drinks and 2 pizzas later). Well done for the poor customer experience!

Decided to give Bar Milano a try as knew they now allowed dogs in upto a certain time and we always pass by on our walks. Really now wishing we had carried on and went to our usual spot for lunch. Firstly we struggled to find a clean table (always a bad sign) but sat down at the best one and thought I’d just ask for it to be cleaned. Ordered 2 pizzas and side of fries and the waitress cleaned our table no bother after me asking. 50 minutes later still no sign of food. Went to the bar to ask the waitress who served me if she could chase the food and let me know how long it would as my son and little dog were getting over hungry and a little fed up to be honest. She never came to apologise or explain how long or where our food was. After another 15 minutes I went back to the bar to pay for the 2 soft drinks we had and to say we were leaving as had now waited far too long but again no apology was given. I must say the place wasn’t over busy so I’m presuming others had tried lunch there and had the same bad experiences. May I add when we was leaving another lady was up chasing her food as she had waited over half an hour for her food and still no sign of it either. Avoid at all costs as no customer service skills in the place at all!!!!

Big supporter of this hotel, been part of my life for many years, differentiation in this game is customer care, the product offering across all players is much of a muchness. Time for a clear out of staff that don’t understand the importance of the business. Some of the staff are stars some are 1/10. Hope this helps. Training is important but square pegs in round holes is a big flaw. Good luck.

Great bar for a night out and great selection of favoured gins and cocktails. Music later was great too with a great DJ. Plenty of seats and food looked good too although we didn’t have any. The smell from the men’s toilets was just awful though which we were told by staff is the drains. It unfortunately meant we had to move to the other side of the bar to get away from it.

Not brilliant but not bad either!Food was okay, good selection of drinks, spacious and clean.Afternoon staff are very pleasant, welcoming and helpful.Great for dog owners / walkers as it is also just a short walk from Chatelherault country park making it easy to pop in for a drink when dog walking.

Visited here recently with a few of my friends and couldn’t fault the place. Great atmosphere, lovely pizzas and barman Lewis couldn’t do enough for us, his strawberry daiquiris were fantastic. Exceptional service and will be returning very soon!!

Please tell me I didn't just pay £5 for a pint? In Hamilton? I visited on a Saturday and I found it over prices and too loud...The DJ (yes...the 'DJ' with a laptop) played the music so loud, it's impossible to have a conversation...we ended up going outside just to talk. I think they're trying to be upmarket but the environment, loud music and bouncers at the door made it feel just like any other local pub...apart from the overpriced drinks of course. Can't say I'll be back any time soon.

Fabulous Lunch Visited Bar Milano in Hamilton With My Husband, Married Daughter And New Baby Granddaughter Lovely Place , Staff Very Friendly And Efficient, My Husband had Soup / Sandwich Combo which Consisted of Home made Lentil Soup , Cheese/ Ham Sandwich .crisps and Salad My Daughter also had Soup /Panini Combo , Lentil Soup with a Cajun Chicken Panini with Salad and Crisps I also had Cajun Chicken Panini with Minestrone Soup Food was Absolutely Delicious and reasonably Priced Would Definitely Recommend And Will Definitely Be Back

Thrilled to have found another dog friendly place near home and near Chatelherault for dog walking. We went for Brunch today (Mother’s Day) and were there for it opening (10:30am). I had the baked eggs Italian style and my mum had the veggie breakfast, both were great. Service was a little on the slower side but understandably as had just set up and 1 boy was manning all the tables himself so no issues there as we weren’t in a hurry. Staff were great with the dog, giving her a water bowl and some chicken and bacon in a bowl at our request (they only charged us £1 for this too!).Looking forward to coming back and maybe sampling the lunch menu next time!

We decided to go bar Milano today. Hadn’t been for a while and the reason being as their bar staff, to be fair not all of them have a bit of an attitude. Tonight in particular the guy with the beard. Jeez throwing menus about breaking plates. Rude is not the word. There’s a treason why people sometimes don’t go out in their home town and people like him are the reason. I don’t want to go into Glasgow every weekend so decide to go into Hamilton but maybe the staff on Milano need to up their game and their managers need to see that. Won’t be back there for a while.

Visited with two colleagues and one of their pets today. Lovely surroundings and we were all made to feel very welcome. The dog (Flo) was instantly brought a bowl of water and our drinks order taken. We all had pizza which was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we all agreed we'd be back. Seems very popular with dog owners during the day, which can only be a good thing in my opinion.

We visited tonight as a pre-Christmas treat and took our dog, as we have done before. I ordered a small pakora with chips. When it arrived at the table, there were 3 small pieces of pakora skewered together. I questioned the amount and was told by the waiter, who turned out to be related to management, that it was a small portion and if I wNted more I should have ordered the large portion. He went away and returned with condiments and I pointed out that the pakora was burnt. I said I didn’t want it and would make do with chips. He said I’d touched it-I handled the skewer- and had to pay for it. He went over to the bar with it, asking other customers there if they would eat it, belittling myself and my husband. We were outraged by his arrogant attitude and left, leaving all the food and drink on the table. He told my husband there would be no charge. We won’t be back (see previous very positive reviews). Such a shame that one person can spoil things for you.

Just returned for the worst experience of being out for a meal in my life.

It is a real shame having frequented Bar Milano for a number of years, to report that it has really gone downhill. Sitting watching customers with dogs allowing them on their lap to eat from their plate.........is not very hygienic. The bar service was really poor. Could we wind the clock back and get back to where is was a few years ago a great place to go for food and a relaxing drink.

Wound up a Sunday afternoon of walking our dogs with some refreshments & a bite to eat in Bar Milano. Good atmosphere, friendly & relaxed staff, great food, reasonably priced and well served - arguably the best steak ciabatta I’ve ever had, served with a choice of soup or chips on the side. To top it all off, our furry friends were able to join us too & were made to feel very welcome! Absolutely love everything about this bar - give it a try!!

Being a regular at Bar Milano and having had a few pizzas in the bar area which are excellent, my wife and I decided to eat in the restaurant. Bland , tasteless would be the nicest way of describing all courses, not to mention overpriced.

Just want to leave a comment regarding the wonderful Melissa. Every time we go Melissa is always so friendly, always smiling and beyond helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for this girl and love it when she is there the nights we go. To be honest one of the reasons why we always return and don’t try somewhere else. What an asset she is.

Decided to pop in for a coffee after seeing Mama Mia at The Vue.

Second time we’ve been for lunch and it was great. Their soup/sandwich deal is such good value. I didn’t want soup so the waiter asked if I’d like chips instead. It was a good portion and served with a very tasty garlic dip. Loved the ciabatta sandwich and the rocket salad with balsamic dressing and thinly shaved Parmesan cheese was excellent.

We ate here using an Itison voucher for pizza or pasta which was great value. The food was very good and there was a good atmosphere even with it being during the week.

Had probably the best french toast I’ve ever tried here on Tuesday morning. Lovely surroundings too. Friends had ciabatta with black pudding. Huge portions. Beautiful coffee, pleasant staff and to cap it off well behaved dogs welcome. Very reasonable priced too. Can’t wait to return.

I went here on Saturday with 2 other people as I had purchased a £10 It Is On voucher for 2 pizzas/pastas and it was one of the worse experiences of my life. We got seated in a booth in the dining area right outside the gents toilets. Before we even sat down the waiter asked what we wanted to drink but we hadn’t even looked at the drinks menu yet so I asked him to come back in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later he still hadn’t came back so I had to go to the bar to order food and drinks. At the bar there was a big dog sitting in a massive puddle I don’t know whether it was wee or spilt water bowl but by the time we left over an hour later the mess was still lying there. The barman was throwing dog biscuits to it then serving drinks without washing his hands. I am not a dog lover and I don’t mind an odd dog in the bar area however I would prefer it outside but I do take exception to the fact people were coming in with dogs and sitting in the restaurant area right beside me when I’m eating food. At one point there were 5 dogs in the place and a barking competition going on - you couldn’t hear yourself speak. Anyway I ordered bruschetta x 3 for starters then a pasta dish each for us with chips,garlic bread and pakora to share with the mains and 1 drink each for us 2 of which were soft drinks and even with the 2 vouchers taken off the bill was still over £40. Within a short time the food arrived and I mean ALL OF IT TOGETHER!!!! The waiter knew we weren’t happy. Every bite I took the dogs sat watching us. The bruschetta and garlic bread were burnt and needless to say the pasta was stone cold by the time we got to eat it. I can honestly say this is one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I went to the Ladies toilet when I arrived and it was filthy. The floor was soaking and one toilet and one sink were blocked with toilet roll putting it down to just one working toilet and sink. I went to the toilet again before I left and they were still the same. I would like to mention I have been here once before on a Friday night and there was a dj and we ordered pizzas that were lovely but there were no dogs then and no mention of them and if it had said anywhere on the voucher dogs would be in dining area I most definately wouldn’t have went and if they had been in the dining area when I first arrived before I ordered food I would have about turned. I advised staff I wasn’t happy with the meals but they weren’t interested and I’ve since sent a complaint email and Facebook message and no one has bothered responding.

Couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Out for friends birthday and felt really uncomfortable and intimidated by the security standing at the corner of the bar all night. Couldn't enjoy our night with out them looking over our shoulders. Asked him to leave and at this point he asked me to go sit down and shut up which I thought was very rude. Then he followed my mum to the toilet !!!!!!!!!! Disgrace

Came here for a few drinks after eating in the Avonbridge Hotel. Overall I'd say the prices for drinks were pretty good compared to some places! Lovely atmosphere and the bar staff were lovely. Definitely come back here!

This was good value good value for money ! Authentic pizzas, great selection. We choose Cabernet Sauvignon , which was excellent.

The staff were so very helpful as I have food allergies. Had an adapted pizza, husband had ordinary ham & pineapple. Delicious. The staff really friendly, football on in background. A very well deserved 5 stars. The red wine, a merlo, amazing.

Buen pub para ir por unos tragos y relajarse, también es bueno para ver deporte y tiene una buena selección de bebidas.

Popped in here for a bite to eat with the family. We live nearby so we do come here regularly.We were lucky with our timings as from 4 till 6pm Monday to Thursday they have a £5 pizza deal on. Pizza was lovely as always. Staff were great and chatted away. More deals and advertising needed for this place. Some cocktail offers and promos on Facebook would help. Iv phoned a couple of times before to see if the pizza deal was still on and no one has been able to tell me. It's written on the blackboard behind the bar! Anyway. If it's pizza, a pint and sport your looking for. Then look no further :)

Hadn't been for a while, and notice it has had a revamp, pity the food has went the opposite way. The Bruschetta, well it was really just a slice of bog standard bread was tasteless. The Burger, only god knows where the beef was from, not nice. Pasta arrabiatta was requested hot, that also didn't happen.Waited 10 minutes for a drink, granted there was a wedding on next door in their avonbridge hotel, but the bar was honestly 10 paces away and the waiter didn'st look that busy as he had time for a little chat with his colleague before I got my drink. Seen some people with pizza's, have to say they did look nice and made us wish we had ordered them. Shame, used to get a really good bite to eat out here, now it seems they are just putting anything out the kitchen

A regular local 'go-to'. Fit for all occasions; great atmosphere, delicious, authentic pizzas (the Italia is amazing!), good selection of beers on tap, friendly, chilled staff and everyone just coming and going as they please. Nice and spacious as well so even when it does get busy at night, it's not overwhelming or stuffy!

We went here recently on a works night out. As there were 15 of us we booked in advance ( I would advise that for a group). Like most works nights we were more interested in the alcohol however we did get some pizzas which are great value and very tasty . We chose here as there is never any bother and it is well run . One small thing that could make it better is they could probably employ a glass collector as there were usually 2 of the staff out doing that meaning you had to wait a good bit for s drink as the night went on

We'd never heard of Hamilton but stayed in the Avonbridge hotel because all the Glasgow hotels were fully booked. For dinner we went to Milano restaurant because it is part of the hotel. We didn'texpect too much but it really was excellent. The food was delicious and the staff was excellenttoo!!

We visited here after hearing good reports of good pizza and stylish bar. The bar itself is lovely, mixed generations of customers too which is nice. We ordered a calzone pizza which to be honest? Wasn't good at all, the tomato sauce was covering it (barely and none on the enterior) and the ingredients (meatballs mozzarella mushrooms and chilli) were cold. They hadn't cooked the mushrooms first which meant they had taken on a slimey texture. We would go here again, but would certainly not order food.

I was taken to Bar Milano by a couple of work colleagues and had a pleasant evening there. The bar is quite smart, and most of the clientele were fairly well dressed.My pizza was actually pretty good but the service from the young guys behind the bar, was a bit hit and miss.

Loved the cocktails, especially the frozen strawberry daiquiri! Good music from a DJ set and is really busy. Excellent if you're looking for a local, lively night out!

Frequently visit Bar Milano when we are in Hamilton staying with friends. Great service, great decor and a nice place to chill in the afternoon and catch up and in the evenings a busy hot spot with a good atmosphere. Pizza's are a must and children are allowed in as long they are eating food. Overall we really enjoy Bar Milano and would recommend it to anyone wanting a stylish place to go without being where the drunks and trouble makers are.

We purchased tickets for Bar Milano last new year so decided to re-visit this year even though the price was increased from £15 to £20. However on arrival at Milano to bring in a great new year we were advised that the management had decided to "alter" the arrangements for the venue without telling us!! When we went to get a seat for a great evening, we were advised that if we had not purchased a booth or a couch at £120 then there was standing room only!!! Not even a bar stool in site!! We advised we had purchased a ticket but this gave is NO access to any seat in the venue. This was very disappointing for us as we were not given this information whilst buying tickets or we could have "bought a seat". The venue was empty as we were the first couple in there and not a seat to be had!! The management should be aware that sadly not everyone is able to stand and should also appreciate that we the local residents and regulars deserve a much better service!! We asked for our money back which we received and have written an email to the owner to express our disappointment but sadly 5 days later no reply from him!! I think this is a real shame as myself my partner our children and grandsons will never return to this venue or Avonbridge and sister hotels again. We work very hard for our salary and can't abide greed!!! This is my only negative review on trip advisor ever and us as a family will never visit here again. Very disappointed customer

I was fortunate enough to get a cancellation ticket for Bar Milano did Hogmanay. I was supposed to be abroad but the staff called the second they had a return which was great.However, it was a bit pricy at £20 to get in to a pub. Granted we got a glass of prosecco & multiple pizzas brought for all the customers (which were amazing!) but I do feel £10-15 would have been a lot more reasonable.The initial music wasn't really the party vibe but after numerous requests to DJ took heed ! The party started.I just want to get back soon for another pizza! Delicious!

Beautiful restaurant! I always pay the wonderful restaurant a visit when im visiting from Dublin!! Really superb food/service/dining experience! Also excellent if you fancy a few cheeky drinks before of after a meal!! Oh...and ask for Lolo..he is main man with the slick dress sense!! ..you will know what i mean when you see him!

Bar milno is modern, fresh and clean. Very busy at weekends and over the festive season. Food very expensive and poor value given what you are actually served. Better as a bar than anything else. Would not bother with pizza and tapas again or indeed rush to go back. Quite pretentious. Customers moving and using the plant holders on the stairs as a toilet did nothing to impress me on this visit or add to the ambiance.

The food is excellent and the staff friendly. The food is reasonably priced and well presentedDefinitely would go there again if in the area.

We were staying in the Avonbridge Hotel on a Saturday night and went through to the bar after our meal. It was very busy and the staff were very nice and helpful. Good cocktail menu and the mojitos we ordered were one of the best we had ever tasted! Unfortunately by the time we went back for a second mojito they had ran out of mint leaves :( but the other cocktails were good too. We then ordered some food from the bar and took it up to our room as there was nowhere for us to sit with it after being called in from outside and all the tables were taken

My family had booked 2 booths for my birthday and I was really impressed . The service was excellent even though it was a Saturday night and they were very busy . They do drink and food packages which are really good value for money . The food is pizza and tapas which were all excellent as we're the home made chips . The bar is well run and is filled with people of all ages . I did notice that they do keep the undesirables out which I can't say for all the pubs in Hamilton . If you are looking for food on a Saturday you definitely need to book

Very nice place to go to. Clean and staff very nice. Good service and a busy place to go at the weekends.

Visited with friends for a meal and must confess I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre, and a little overpriced for some starters. The worst aspect of our visit was the appalling service from staff who were more interested in chatting to male customers at the bar than clearly away our dirty plates. One member of staff even cleared a few glasses away and ignored the dirty plates! Wouldn't bother going if you have any standards when it comes to customer service!

Bar Milano is a decent stop to get a pizza and a drink during the week when you can't be bothered cooking. Nothing too fancy, all quite casual with food orders taken at the bar plus atmosphere early evening is relaxed enough. The pizzas are not bad, cooked well so worth a shot.The prices were reasonable enough. Definitely not a restaurant, more a bar that sells food as pizza is pretty much the main thing on the menu, but it does also have a small selection of nibbles/starters type things.

They may not have a log oven, but the pizzas here are consistently nice. The place is fresh and the staff friendly. Their Chardonnay really wicked. Their Ladies' night 1 bottle of wine and a focaccia for less than a tenner is a bargain and an excuse to go out with the lassies. If this place were in Glasgow I would score it one point less. In Hamilton, it definitely deserves to score 4, also for its prices -- recommended

I found the bouncer on the door very agressive and offensive when I was in with my wife just last night.This guy has a lot to answer for , he totally ruined my experience of Bar Milano, I would think twice of going back there or recommending to others.
