Attended this bar as pre drinks bar with my friends , we ordered food which was okay the bar staff are lovely however, I went to the bar to order a drink and I asked for 4 plasters as I had big blisters on the heels of my feet and a man sat next to the bar which I presume was the manager said no it’s for the kitchen staff only, which I understand but they had plenty of plasters. Luckily the lovely man behind the bar gave me two plasters. I have spent a lot of money in this pub and the manager me feel very uncomfortable I will not be attending again.

Waited 30 minutes at the bar and called out many times for anyone to serve us and no one came so left and went somewhere else.

Found this pub as it was one of the only places showing the euros that had any space. When I got there I was greeted by incredibly friendly staff. The beer garden is the best I’ve seen in all of Manchester and it has an amazing view along with such a friendly atmosphere. There was a bit of confusion on the app which was my fault but management were very attentive and helped clear it up right away. I will definitely be coming back !!

I normally do not write reviews, but the customer service here is by far the worst experience I have ever witnessed. When we asked the waiter to change a pint of Guinness as it was extremely watery and tasted terrible (considering it is an Irish bar), the waiter kindly said yes. He then came back and said, "the owner won't let me change your drink; he is very stubborn like that". The owner shortly afterwards came to our table; bearing in mind we are in a pandemic, he stood right over me without a mask spitting all over me and into my drink. He very rudely came over and said straight away, "what's wrong with your drink?", no hello or anything. We explained the situation, and he then replied, "what do you want me to do about it, I can't just throw it away, that's not how you do business. Can't you just drink it like everybody else and enjoy yourself?" He also started to blame the plastic cups being the reason for the unpleasant taste. The customer is always right, and yet all he cared about was making money! Do not go here if you want Guinness, a bad time, and a VERY rude owner!!!!

I visited here on opening week after the lockdown on Thursday 15th April at around 7 pm. I and my girlfriend arrived for a drink with the table covered in passionfruit and rum and was sticky and had hairs all over it. But the waiters were very friendly and attentive I must admit and cleared it up right away. We enjoyed our first round of drinks but then I ordered a Guinness and this is where it went downhill. After waiting 20 minutes for a drink, the pint arrived and it was incredibly watery and tasted horrible. I complained, the waiter took it, he then came back and said sorry I can't take it back for you "the boss is quite stubborn I'm sorry". The owner approached us and had a heated conversation. Instead of 'hi there is everything okay?' etc., he came over and said you don't know what you are talking about, he said "how am I supposed to do business like that?" after I requested politely to switch drinks at the same price point. He then blamed the plastic glass, and he said 'oh it can't be bad we sell a lot of them' and the only way I was going to get a new pint was if I bought a new one. Sums the guy up really. No care for his customers as he 'sells a lot of them' so of course, they can't be bad. Horrible owner. Not cheap prices across the board for average drinks. The only way you would or should come here is that there is a lot of outdoor seating after the lockdown and you could not get in anywhere else. A backwards man and landlord/owner and clearly a power-hungry and stubborn individual. I was excited for my first pint back after lockdown but was ruined by pure arrogance from the owner. My girlfriend also had issues when she visited on the 1st day too. They only care about money, not the customers. Go to the Wharf next door.

Awful customer service. There was a mistake with my drink, which is fair enough things have just reopened but the girl told me the owner refuses to change the drink I kept arguing how unfair it was when I’ve paid for something and didn’t get given the right thing then he changed my drink and I got given a lime and soda without the double shot of vodka. After telling them there was no alcohol in it they refused to add the vodka. It was in a tiny plastic cup so you definitely be able to taste the vodka. My house mates all tried the drink and they agreed there was no vodka in the drink

I contacted Bar Eight when in Manchester on Wednesday 7th looking to view a football match. I was informed that Bar Eight would be showing the Glasgow Celtic game, often claimed by many bars but not always true. Michelle located the channel and watched the match from start to finish. As well as going out of her way to sort TV she feed and watered me as well! Must say the pizza was to much but very tasty. Any Celtic supporter visiting Manchester must check out this bar for games, I will be using it anytime I am in the area. Thanks again Michelle.

Went along on Sunday 14 April 2019, ordered soup for my wife and fish & chips for myself. The soup appeared to be packet or tinned at best, but the Fish & Chips stole the show. The smallest piece of frozen battered fish along with frozen chips and cost £12.95. It was absolutely awful, complained and was told nothing to do with me, I just work here. The lady later stated she would inform the manager when he came on duty. It was quite clear, not the first complaint.

A family run pub welcomed with true Irish sprit and smiles. For a sunday afternoon dinner to a drink after work. It would also be a great place to hire for a works party or something special with friends. Set just by the water a good weather day would be a great time to go sit outside and enjoy the seen. I would recommend them to any family with children as all are catered for.

Bar eight. A nice place to sit outside on a hot summers day and enjoy 'people watching'. It is right by the canal and you can see the narrow boats float past! It was a very busy place whilst we were there, full of people enjoying a nice afternoon. We didn't eat here, we just had a drink but they do do an All Day Breakfast that looked really nice. Would love to have chilled here a bit longer but we needed to move on.

I stopped in for a nice relaxing drink with my auntie and uncle after walking my American bulldog, Chunk. They went in and ordered the drinks while I was sat outside with Chunk, who is very reserved with strangers, and straight away a member of their friendly staff came out and won him over by giving him a bowl of water and a bowl of doggy biscuits. I can honestly say I’ve never been to a bar with such friendly hospitality towards dogs, especially a huge beautiful beast like Chunk. I’d just like to thank everyone at bar eight. You’re all amazing and know how to make everybody feel at home. Definitely my new favourite local 😍 Chunk said “Woof woof” (thank you) too ❤️

Me and a freind visited at the weekend. We ordered a selection of several tapas dishes off the food menu and the food was amazing! Each dish had plenty of taste and came in generous portions. We was both very pleased with the food which tasted excellent! I have had tapas in manchester before but none have quite beat this i must say. The place is quite small but well decorated and very clean. The outdoor area is huge with plenty of seating perfect for a drink in the sun next to the canal. They have a good selection of beers on tap to enjoy with the brilliant food. The service was excellent. Will definately be back again, if your a fan of tapas or just good food in general then i reccomend you pay a visit!

A GEM of a bar hidden away in Castlefield, Manchester. For only a small bar, Bar Eight has so much character and atmosphere, especially in the summer with its tremendous beer garden. Cheaper than the surrounding bars but still competitive, and a nice alternative. They do a nice pint of Estrella.

Visited for a drink with friends. We could not get a terrace seat next door at The Wharf so came here, it was my first visit and I hadn't even been aware that it existed. My vodka and tonic came without ice, without a straw or any lemon/lime, I couldn't finish it as it was so strong, I think the measures must have got mixed up. With a bit of work the terrace could rival that of the other Castlefield bars, it gets the evening sun, and nice view of the canalside life, but as it is it is just a few picnic benches on the paved area, I wouldn't choose to return based on this experience but hopefully things will improve.

We haven't eaten here but, after moving into the area a few weeks ago we decided to make a visit on a Sunday afternoon. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly and we had a couple of drinks and chatted and enjoyed the experience but felt that a lot more could be done to sell the place. There were only two other people in the bar in the hour we spent there and it had been difficult to see that the place was even open. We decided to go back and, after a couple of times when the bar was closed, finally found it open again but there was a different girl behind the bar and she was not very welcoming or friendly and there was no one else in so we drank up and left. We visited again on Saturday afternoon and the same (unfriendly) barmaid as previously was in. There was another man at the end of the bar and two of the barmaids friends at the other end. We are by no means prudes but were disappointed to hear the barmaid swearing quite loudly and this was very off-putting. Maybe the bar gets busier later in the evening but it is difficult to see how it could make much money especially when the barmaid was giving free drinks to the three people at the bar. Unless big changes are made we won't be back and it would seem others have come to the same conclusion.

Ate here with friends after not being able to get a seat at the restuarant next door. Menu is only small consisting mainly of pizzas, burgers and tapas. No pizzas were available and only one variety of the burgers were available out of four. Should have left then. Meals took ages to come out even though we had overheard the staff saying it was quiet in the kitchen. Meals that were supposed to come with chips, salad and onion rings came separately and only after pestering staff. Two of the six of us didn't even receive our salads anyway. Burgers were very average. Onion rings for three people came in one bowl rather than three separate servings. I ordered a sandwich and the bread was stale...some bits so stale that I couldn't even squash it at all. Only good thing about this place was that strawberry and lime cider was on tap.

Called in as we had an issue with our accommodation booking nearby. The staff were so lovely & friendly. We had a couple of drinks whilst we tried to resolve our issues & they were brilliant in helping us to find alternative accommodation for the night. Didn’t have chance to dine but the menu looked amazing! Wish this was my local! Thanks again x

Ordered online and put notes on my order of how I wanted my 2 ham sandwiches, arrived conpletely the opposite to my notes, to find my notes didn't print off in the shop. Called to rectify the issue, 2 new sandwiches being made. Get a call to now say I can't have a ham sandwich as it's all gone. Had to reluctantly have chicken. Order arrived, opened to find it still has onions on both sandwiches, which is one of the main reasons I sent them back!!!!!!!!!
