Bao Noodles Soup in Hackney

The place look good but the food was so poor. I asked for aubergine fritters kelp soup. It was not tasty at all. So plain and it was £12. To improve the flavour I asked for chilli oil. They charged me £1 extra. It was not good at all. Tasteless and extra payment to try to improve it. I asked after for soya sauce as the flavour wasn’t better, and the waiters look at the menu to see if she could charge me. I am not coming back, and definitely there are many other places that can offer better value for money. I love Asian food, I love noodles soup, this was a disappointed.

It’s quite an experience to witness the whole process how they handle your food in BAO if you sit by the kitchen. The person uses the same hand to clean the kitchen to wrap the BAO without washing hand or wearing a plastic glove. Might be the worst restaurant experience I had in London. 在倫敦街頭看到「刈包」（BAO)兩字，好奇會是什麼口味，就進去瞧瞧罷。 口味當然很難跟道地台灣食物相比，真正讓人大開眼界是廚房人員處理刈包過程。 那雙清理廚房的手才剛處理完手邊事物，沒洗手也沒戴手套，就開始料理我的刈包，一邊包還一邊跟坐櫃台的朋友聊天。 當那個刈包送到我眼前，吃不吃，我猶豫了一下。 還是吃了，沒事，但這家店不會再去。

We went in for a quick dinner, waiter was very friendly and the food came fast. Unfortunately the noodles were terrible (lacking flavour) and very small portion. Have eaten in most local Asian restaurants and this is by far the worst, particularly when you consider the extortionate price. To make matters worse we told the waiter that the “beef” noodles came with just.one small slice of beef he confirmed this should not be the case but the only solution offered was that he would “make a note of it” and thanks for our feedback. Not one to complain about restaurants however this one is a definite avoid.

I’ve been to all the bao restaurants and this is the worst. The food is amazing at the others! I had the classic bao and the prawn bao and I didn’t like either of these here. All the food came out so quickly too (compared to the other restaurants) and the service wasn’t very good. I’m not coming back to this one. Soho is the best bao restaurant!

The food is nice enough but did not blow me away. The atmosphere was non existent and the staff were nice but not super attentive. The toilets were surprisingly gross. In the end, the bill was twice as expensive as it should have been given all the above.

I went with my husband and we left the restaurant after 1 hour of waiting, with only 1/3 of the food we had ordered. We left hungry and went to try and find another restaurant to actually eat. Terrible service and customer experience.

Nos recomendaron este restaurante taiwanes en el hotel y cenamos varios tipos de baos, todos muy buenos, aparte de otros platos. El bao con helado de cacahuete de postre era muy original.

Walked in for dinner last night late on a Sunday night. Surprisingly busy. We were two and they had two tables (4 tops) open with no reservation yet would not allow my wife and I to sit there and we were forced outside next to smokers on the sidewalk. We had the Lamb Dumplings (my wife thought they were amazing, I thought ok) and beef noodles (very good.) I ordered a Bao Lager which which was very dark and not like any lager I have ever had (and not particularly good.) Dinner was pretty expensive for what it is.

Great Baos, Great Soups, Great Service. We definitely will come back. Music is also good and it looks very clean. Sweet potato cóctel was delicious!

Amazing food. Amazing serving and waiting staff. But very RUDE hostess named Perry, can’t describe the embarrassment and humiliation I felt cause of her!!!!

I came in on a Wednesday afternoon to check the place as I have heard very good things from their food. I dont know much about asian food but I found all to be really tasty, with special mention to the kimchi dressed daikon bao. I took an umeshu negroni and i found it well balanced and enjoyable. Now, the service really stood up. Matt took care of explaining the menu and made me feel very welcome. As i noticed, he was also as attentive with other guests as he was with me, and that speaks for his quality. He is a true hospitality person, and so deserves a special mention.

The food is very poor, so called slow cooked beef noodle soup simply a cheap cut of meat, very bland and chewy. The broth itself is like water not tasty at all. The dumplings were awful, tasted like uncooked meat and onion, left a bad taste in mouth for entire evening. Ban were boring with very basic and tasteless filling. Complained and received no sign that they were even slightly concerned about my disappointment. Don’t bother with this tourist trap.

Had lunch here on Saturday and it was my first visit, and it was delicious and tasty and packed with flavour. Had Taiwanese Fried Chicken which was drizzled with chilli sauce and it was delicious spicy with just enough heat as too not spoilt the taste. I also had a Taipei style broth off slow cooked beef cheek and short rib noodle in a rich beef soup w/spiced beef butter. It tasted beautiful, packaging a punchy flavour of beef all in a tasty soup and noodles. I must confess it was delicious and can’t wait to return visit to try some more mouth watering dishes.
