Bank Cafe in Stroud

We took a Pitstop at this cafe while walking the Cotswolds way. We experienced a very welcoming staff, great coffee and lovely time. Recommend.

I chose the location to meet a friend and although the word 'vibrant' on their website was slightly off-putting, there was no mention of 'artisan' (another word for expensive and pretentious), 'barista' or any other silliness. I was right. The place is centrally located, pleasant, not too noisy and a little bit vibrant.

A great stop off on the Cotswold Way walk. Quick service and the lightest chocolate sponge cake ever. A great asset for the town.

I felt compelled to leave this review simply due to the fact that their are some pathetic negative reviews .., I mean seriously, read some of them ! Talk about splitting hairs ! It’s a great cafe , we’ve been using it for years and it’s consistently very good. The only negative I would say is they sometimes close without warning, or maybe close early but that’s only happened couple of times .., it’s a great cafe and really important for the town.

Another disappointing meal at the Bank. Consider going in the week when at least the basics are done correctly and the food can be very nice.. Weekends are a lottery. Once again served a hard poached egg. This time joined by some brown avocado. The dishes served to the family in dribs and drabs and us having to go up and ask for bits. Wish I had sent it back but we did not have time to wait for it to be recooked If your are going to charge over £12 for a breakfast dish could you please learn to cook an egg, serve fresh food and serve it all in one go. This is not a one off but the the first time I have felt compelled to complain. The only reason we end up coming back is the limited options elsewhere.

Very nice café with a lot to choose from. Coffee was good and so were the snacks. However I didn’t like the cheese scones but that might not be relevant for others

A vibrant cafe in a prime location. I visited this morning for breakfast with my daughter. Friendly, attentive staff. Gf catered for very well. Rather disappointed though when a cooked breakfast is presented with a hard, broken fried egg. Surely, it's a given that a nicely cooked dippy egg should be a default. I regret not sending it back, but should it be necessary.

Stopped here as we passed through Dursley whilst walking the Cotswolds Way. Located right on the trail this offered a welcome place to stop with an excellent choice of food and drinks. There was a good selection of cakes with a couple of gluten free options including macaroons and Bakewell tarts. Delicious. Definitely recommend stopping here.

This was a great experience. We only wanted coffee and some cake, and we had this - both superb quality. The coffee was lovely and smooth. They do drinks, snacks, lunches, sandwiches and much more. Very good service and a great atmosphere inside a quirky establishment. Highly recommended.

Back to great. Service was excellent as were the pain au raisins and toasted tea cakes. This is a friendly popular cafe and well worth a visit

We called in for coffee. The service was not very friendly and our coffee took a long time to arrive. The coffee managed to be both weak and bitter. OK, but not one I will be returning to.

Staff were pleasant but the coffee was weak and arrived 15 mins before the food. They did not say when delivering the coffee that the food was on the way or how long it would be. Having drunk the coffee, I was about to go and ask if they had forgotten the food when it arrived. Unfortunately the bacon bap was disappointing, the bacon so underdone it was nearly oinking! And every mouthful was tasteless. Very disappointed

We come here quite often, and I usually don't leave reviews but I need to say this ...The team is always welcoming and smiley and the food is fresh and DELICIOUS! Team, you are doing a great job! 👍

The coffee is still good but service is now really slow, even when they are not busy. One cup of coffee took nearly 10 minutes to arrive and this isn’t the first time. Wouldn’t have minded quite so much if there had been any apology. Toasted tea cakes have to be eaten well before your coffee arrives if you want to eat them warm. The Bank Cafe is an asset to the town but something isn’t quite right

Very well run and the staff actually enjoy their work, always smiling. Very efficient service and kept clean. Choice of food great. These guys stayed open during heatwaves, when other places closed and are open Sundays. Sadly I am shortly moving to next county but I will continue to visit. Best to visit on weekdays as Sundays get very busy with a lot of infants. However, staff keep on top of clearing. James an absolute diamond.

One of the best cafes in the region- great atmosphere and superb food. Clearly very popular and for good reason. The vegetarian breakfast was a triumph.

We had occasion to be in Dursley today. This is a really wonderful Cafe: Excellent atmosphere, lovely food, v pleasant and efficient staff. Coffee is perfect. Panini and fish finger sandwich plus chips was also delicious. Also dogs are not only allowed but are welcomed.

Me & my sister both ordered the fish finger sandwich with chips. The fish was deliciously battered and much tastier than I expected, I really enjoyed it. Service was friendly and food was made in a timely manner. I definitely recommend. X

We have been here before so new the food would be lovely. Ordered various sandwiches and burgers well presented with side salad and chips. Would recommend the Croque monsieur which was delicious. There is also a mouth watering selection of cakes Service welcoming and friendly

So pleased to see Bank back open. Best coffee in town ! Had brunch on our visit and it was just superb, I had the halloumi brunch dish and it could just not have been better. Friendly service and great relaxed atmosphere.

We had a lovely brunch at the Bank Cafe. I had the avocado on sourdough toast and it was superb. The staff were really friendly and everything was socially distanced.

Corrí un tramo del relevo de Costwold Way (Stroud a Dursley, 15 ky 500 m de subida) y terminé en este café para cuidados intensivos.Acabo de reabrir después del cierre y el personal fue realmente agradable. Trajeron el café grande, la coca cola y el tiffin afuera a la mesa en la plaza principal (así como caminar fue un poco complicado) y la pequeña área de la plaza principal de Dursley es realmente bastante bonita.El tiffin de choloclate fue sin duda el mejor que había probado. No solo en cuanto al sabor, sino que también era enorme. Admití que mi juicio puede haberse empañado un poco por el agotamiento, pero he comido un poco de tiffin en mi larga y malsana existencia y esto realmente fue cosa de la primera liga.Considero seriamente hacer la carrera nuevamente para poder regresar (no es broma). I regularly go in here with my two toddlers as there are toys for them to play with. The food is nice and loads of variety.

Llegamos a la 1 pm de un viernes y la lasaña y el quiche ya estaban agotados. Conseguimos nuestra tercera opción de comida al final, que era absolutamente deliciosa. Tuve el panqueque de jamón y queso que en realidad sabía a panqueque. Luego nos quedamos a tomar café y pastel y nuevamente el pastel sabía auténtico y bien hecho en casa. En algunos lugares vas a los gustos de pastel fabricados. El personal era encantador y amable también. La comida se presentó muy bien también. Lo recomiendo altamente.

Lovely food here. Sometimes staff are very busy and things get missed from orders, but staff are very willing to put right. There’s not always room inside for everyone visiting but always lovely when we go.

Vissited several Times in August. Really Good coffee, Nice hearty sandwiches, cracking cakes, very Nice and friendly staff. Just a tad pricey in comparison with other places in Dursley. No handikapp access, however tables outside and staff willing to serve if People couldnt make the steps. (I noticed this on one of my visits). Seemed to be a local meeting place, childrens corner well used.

Only ever had coffee, cake and ice cream here. All are excellent served by friendly staff in a stylish, informal setting. Good place to meet up with a friend.

After my best friend and I had coffee in this cafe, we went to the toilet together, as we normally do, we do our make up use the toilet whilst chatting and deciding what we shall do next.

I had tuna mayo jacket with cheese, nice side salad. It arrived as ordered and was a good portion and all ok.

A stop of on our travels found us Hungry and wanting a cup of tea strolling through the town we came across the bank cafe, a gem of a place with happy friendly staff catering for locals and tourists alike. All our food was served in good time and presented in a great way plentiful and delicious set in a former bank the atmosphere and decor is interesting and a talking point. With shelves full of books and board games children were also enjoying a game whilst we were there. We all throughly enjoyed the experience and we will make sure to return when in the area again.

Another great visit to our favourite cafe. We have a holiday let nearby so after a busy day carrying out the maintenance at the cottage, a visit to The Bank is a real treat!

Me acabo de mudar a la zona y he estado aquí varias veces. Encantadora cafetería, servicio amable, excelente café. Los niños y los perros son bienvenidos, les dan golosinas a los perros y hay una pequeña zona de juegos infantiles. I loved this place, great decor and lovely staff.My drink arrived minutes after I sat down. Service was efficient (4 staff members on duty) and everything was clean. I didn't have any food this time but I will definitely be back.

Originally The Midland and then the HSBC Bank, the building stood unused for some time until a local saw the potential in providing a retro pavement cafe culture in Dursley. This fine old building is well suited to the old signage, 1950’s furniture and library of books. The food and drink is excellent - all freshly made. It welcomes people of all ages but if you want peace and quiet this is not the place to go as it has a “vibe” and is very popular.

I ordered an egg and cress sandwich and it took around 40 minutes to come with my partner ordering a panini at the same time. For such simple dishes it didn’t need to take this long. Although it was worth the wait as the food was lovely and even had one of the brownies after the sandwich which was perfect. Will be returning just a shame on wait time.

Popped in for afternoon coffee & cake with our pugs, this place was amazing cake to die for & great coffee. Such friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us & the pugs. Highly recommended 5 Star well worth a visit

Service was friendly and prompt, relaxed atmosphere, food and cakes fresh tasty and inviting, drinks choice is large, clean. Young kids area so great for mums. Prices all round were a bit high but every time I have been in there it has been busy.

Had lunch with daughter, coronation chicken sandwich very nice, came with crisps and coleslaw, nice chunky brown bread, ordered coffee, service was a bit slow as busy and our food came out before our coffee but we were not in a rush and good was lovely.

Food and drink is brilliant. Price is reasonable. Service is always with a smile. The quirkiness of the place is really nice.

Shabby chic decor. Very good customer service. Families catered for. I've only eaten bacon rolls which are tasty. Decent cuppa tea. The only criticism is it's a little pricey, not too pricey to stop me visiting for a bacon butty though

Recomiendo encarecidamente el banco Cafe. Maravillosos pasteles y café era genial! El personal muy amable y con un servicio rápido. A pesar de que el personal estaba contento con nosotros en nuestras zapatillas para sentarse, había mesas afuera y el Sol otoñal brillaba y decidimos sentarnos afuera. Esperamos volver a pedalear de Bristol a Dursley en la primavera y volveremos al banco.

So lovely to find a coffee shop with its own character and atmosphere. One of the joys of a small town is the lack of Costa/ Starbucks etc and BANK is an excellent alternative. Good range of coffees and fine portions of cake.Well worth a trip

We ate at the delightful Bank Cafe twice while we stayed at Owlpen Manor. Both times were great. The caesar salad I ate there was the best salad I had while in England. Delightful setting.

£18 for 2 paninis and 2 teas... I thought was alittle expensive. Food was lovely nothing special portions pretty average. Lovely funky place nice interior and clean toilets... 😘

Started really well, friendly welcome, coffee arrive quickly and was very nice. But.... they forgot my food! It appears from other reviews that this can be a problem. It’s a problem that should be really easy to fix and I hope they do. I’ll be back again so fingers crossed.

Outstanding service - they even apologised for keeping us waiting, when we’d walked in before they were officially open! Lovely breakfast and an amazing menu. Loved it and would thoroughly recommend.

I've visited Bank cafe several times with my family but hadn't been for a while. We were looking forward to going again as the food has been good, the staff friendly and the service very good.

We have visited twice and sat outside the first time as it was busy. The second time we went inside with our two dogs. There is a great selection of homemade cakes which are really tasty and a good selection of drinks, hot and cold. Service can be slow at times, they are usually quite busy and both times they have forgotten something on out order. Staff were polite and rectified the problem immediately. We will definitely return as it is dog friendly which is great!

1st off despite menus everywhere showed meal options at that time, but when we tried to order, we were told that only breakfast options were available.

Have been here a few times since it opened and have to say that the service and the food quality/portion size has gone downhill. The soup is expensive, and all you get is a tiny bowl (same size as the coffee mugs) and 1 slice of bread, which is just not worth it. Another friend ordered a salad (the only vegan option available across the whole menu), and again it was pretty measly (and very plain) considering it costed close to a tenner. Would not advise going here if you have any dietary requirements as they don't have any gluten free bread & nearly every meal on the menu has some form of cheese on. When this cafe first opened I was really impressed with the soup of the day as it used to be interesting flavours and a big hearty bowl that could keep you full till dinner. No longer the case at all.

A lot of mums in the area meet here with their kids, it was my first time as a new mum. It was comfy and the staff were nice, had a Chai latte which was nice although it took a long time to come.

Called in here whilst waiting for an appointment and to get out of the cold. Walked in a F.C. was greeted by smoke and cooking fumes everywhere. No extraction fans in use. We ordered our coffees, waited & waited and never got them. In the end we just asked for a refund as we didn’t have time to Waite any longer.

I ordered a an avocado salad which cost around £10. All I got was some rocket leaves, cucumber, tomatoes, raw onion and about quarter of an avocado. It was such a poor effort of a salad. Considering I had to pay that much for it, you'd think there would be some nuts and seeds or something a little more exciting on it? And if avocado is in the title surely you'd be a bit more generous with it? It was also drenched in lemon juice. It was so sour it was making me wince.

Loved the décor at the cafe - very eclectic. The cafe has a good atmosphere and a range of seating options, from comfy sofas to tables suitable for large groups and single diners The cafe has free wifi. Food I ordered was very nice. I didn't mind waiting for the hot meal, but found it a bit odd that my coffee arrived separately after the food. Coffee was good quality. All in all this would be my cafe of choice on a visit to Dursley

I have to say I’m really surprised at reading some of the bad reviews on here. I’ve been to Bank...

Lunching with the two of us, a misheard lunch order resulted in only one dish arriving. No offer of bringing the menu or the chance to order a second dish was given. When I spoke to the waiter, I was publicly and loudly admonished and informed that the kitchen staff had ‘gone out of their way’ to rustle up the sandwich we had been served, with ingredients that were apparently off-menu at the late hour of 1:30. Bacon, egg and mushrooms?

What attracts me to the cafe is that there aren’t many other options in town, and it does have a convenient play area for the kids, toys and a range of board games so we enjoyed a game of battleships. The issue I have is with service. Now I appreciate that there was only one person serving today, but still, there seems to be a general tendency for slow service. It’s not just that, it’s also the attitude. We ordered two drinks, a milkshake, and a mocha, and to be fair both were nice, but also a slice of cake, which was not served with the drinks. After a long wait I had to remind the guy serving, and his response was a little rude to be frank, as if to say be patient? but why not serve everything together, why have to wait fifteen minutes extra for the cake? it’s not the first time it’s happened. Also, to be honest, the cake, chocolate and orange, was quite average. In general, for a cafe, it’s also quite pricey and for this level of service, I begin to ask myself if it’s worth going back.

Very comfortable ex bank turned into a homely cafe with very friendly young staff.

Was in Lake George over the weekend for a wedding. This was my first time up there and struggled to find a place to get a breakfast sandwich to go. Since it's off-season, a bunch of places weren't open, so ended up going to the store to buy something and went to Bank Cafe for a coffee.
