Banana Tree Covent Garden in City of London, Westminster

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and needed sustenance on a bitterly cold day. We ordered ramen noodles, which arrived promptly. I was hoping that they would be piping hot, but they weren’t. Perhaps the bowls needed warming? Looked fine, although the ramen bowls were unusually shallow. The two shiitake mushrooms on top were dry mushrooms, which seem to have been dropped in at the last moment. I had to spit it out as soon as I put one in my mouth. Rubbery and completely inedible. The tip is to soak dry mushrooms before use, which was not the case here. Asked for jasmine tea, which arrived in a teapot and was lovely. I would have the jasmine tea again, but the ramen noodles - no thank you. Drank all the tea and ate half the ramen.

Buen servicio, comida sabrosa, buen ambiente, a buen precio. Los cócteles 2 por 1 son un buen precio, recomiendo encarecidamente el cóctel 'una noche en Bangkok'.

Definitivamente vale la pena reservar ya que se pone muy ocupado, especialmente antes de las 7 pm y la prisa pre-show. Excelente comida, precio razonable y abundante! Muy bueno para los celíacos, ya que hay muchas opciones sin gluten, incluidas las opciones vegetarianas. Sin duda recomiendo.

Great meal in Covent Garden. We had beef rendang and a vegan laksa both of which were really tasty and we're great value for money. The service was prompt allowing us plenty of time to get to our theatre booking and it was so easy to pay for our meal using the code on the table

The food here was pretty good, but the service was pretty poor. Our meal arrived in instalments, with some real gaps in between, meaning food was getting cold by the time everything arrived. Drinks were the same, with some drinks arriving twice and some not at all. Very confusing. Having to remind waiters constantly. No draught beer, even though the menu said most restaurants serve draught beer. I did not like having to pay £5.45 for a small bottle of beer, plus a 12.5% service charge which made it £6.13.

Our second visit and we were not disappointed we booked in advance for a pre theatre meal and we received excellent food and service, good choice of food ,and drinks. The banana tree does get very busy so I would recommend booking in advance.

We booked for New year's eve, for 9.30. We were not advised that the kitchen closes at 10pm and the restaraunt closed at 10.30 as it was New year's eve. I dud not see this in the site. When we booked the email they sent should have highlighted these early closing times. We were rushed to eat, starters and mains came together. The mains were luke warm. Not a great start to new years. The Indian waiter was good but the manager was awful and rude. Would not recommend!!!

Staying at the Waldorf Covent Garden and after a busy day being tourists we had already had some snacks earlier so just wanted an easy light meal. The Banana Tree is located in the heart of Covent Garden area only a few minutes from The Waldorf so managed to get the last table available. I have read comments about the service being poor but we were served by a great Spanish waiter a really nice guy, friendly and helpful at the end of a busy evening. We loved the Thai food and a good bottle of wine approx £60 for two m and courses, rice and wine, very good for this popular part of London. Overall a really nice experience and happy to recommend for those who want some Thai spice!! enjoy!!!.

Un servicio horrible. Me dijeron que la mitad de las cosas del menú no estaban disponibles. Los cócteles salieron mal la primera vez y el gerente discutió conmigo y fue muy grosero, procedió a ignorarnos durante el resto de la noche. Tuve que pedir dos veces galletas de langostinos y tardó 45 minutos y pidiendo entrantes para que finalmente llegaran. La red llegó cuando los abridores estaban siendo despejados. Bill tardó 20 minutos en venir después de preguntar. El gerente y otro personal eran groseros, excepto un camarero que estaba haciendo el trabajo de todos.

We all enjoyed our food which was tasty with plenty of choice. Staff on arrival were fine. We ordered two types of prawn crackers and one came quickly. We never got the other even after asking three times. This was either total disorganisation or the staff don’t take ownership of a diners complaint. When we finished the main course a make server came and cleared three plates out of four. He didn’t ask us if we wanted anything else, put his coat on and went out. No one else came to serve us or ask about drinks or deserts. The last plate remained on our table until we left. We then paid for our meal even though we wanted desert. Totally missed the 12.5% service charge, that was a shame! Mentioned the service to staff when leaving, not sure why we bothered. Hopefully not all Banana Tree restaurants have such poor service. We don’t expect the best from a chain in central London but up your game as the food was good.

The staff were very welcoming and the place was clean and nice decor we were seated quickly and also they took our order in nice timing too starters were lovely and the mains were big portions…. very flavoursome as well the choice was great and the price was good too we will be back thank you

We had an incredibly disappointing experience due to the poor service we received. There was one waiter with curly hair in a ponytail who was rude from the moment he began serving us. We decided not to say anything at first, as we had enjoyed our previous visit with a different server. However, his attitude never improved. When serving desserts, he was especially rude—he roughly cleared the table, snatching paper from beneath our plates, causing menus to fall onto the desserts. His behavior made us feel uncomfortable. Additionally, the previous week, we had used the fire exit without any issue. This time, after my husband left, the same waiter approached me and reprimanded me for using it in a manner that was condescending and unnecessarily harsh. While I understand it may have been wrong to use that exit, his rude and dismissive tone was unacceptable. When I later expressed my discomfort with his service, he neither apologized nor acknowledged my concerns. While my family enjoyed the food, this experience has left such a negative impression that we likely won’t be returning.

Great location but the food quality was terrible. The chicken was pink, no vegetables in the Massaman curry and staff were unhelpful.

Always delicious food, we have visited 2 of the restaurants and the food has been amazing in both. A wide choice of vegetarian & vegan dishes add tastes authentic and delicious. Wouid recommend.

I came here with a friend and were surprised in how busy it was. We were shown to our table but was a bit noisy so we moved. We had to wait a while to be served. We finally ordered food and cocktails which were really good. Didn’t have to wait long for food which was delicious. I had the Pad Thai with chicken which I recommend and then pancake for dessert which was also good. There are good choices on menu and you can get 2 for 1 cocktails. Would come again.

Vi fandt stedet tilfældigt, læste menukortet ude ved fortovet og gik ind. Det fortrød vi ikke. Der var travlt, så man skal være tålmodig med serveringen, men manden er helt klart værd at vente på. Helt sikkert ikke sidste gang vi kommer der

We visited twice in June. Once to celebrate the end of my daughter's exams and another for a bottomless brunch for my birthday. We were so happy with both visits - delicious food, great cocktails, excellent service, good atmosphere and good value. Both me and my daughter are vegetarians and the menu is brilliant for vegetarians and vegans. So good, we'll definitely be back.

Discovered this place after our theatre visit. We have been to Thailand so was looking forward to the lovely food, we had the 2 for 1 cocktails & we had the spring rolls, fire chicken wings which was spicy & delicious. My husband had the Ramen chicken gyoza for mains which he first tried in Thailand & loved, he said it was just as good and I had the pad Thai chicken which was delicious Our total bill was the cheapest while in London even with the 12.5% service charge that everyone seems to add these days👍

Stopped here for a quick meal before going to the opera. The food was delicious and the service was efficient but still very friendly. There are many more things on the menu. Would like to try so will definitely be back.

We were really looking forward to eating here. We have dined in a different branch before as a couple and were excited to take the kids It started off on the wrong foot. I was waiting over 5 mins for someone to come and seat us. They saw us, bit nobody came. Eventually we were seated and giving our orders. We were told half the kids menu wasn't available (which turned out to be incorrect) and just made the ordering process a little stressful. Eventually, waitress came back and advised that the food kids wanted was available...but after all that confusion, 1 dish came out incorrect! On to our drinks, it was 2 for 1 cocktails all day. The cocktails we ordered had hardly.amy alcohol in it at all. Probably how they offer them cheaper Our starters were oily and nothing much to write home about. Our kids had practically finished their meals before our mains arrived. They ordered desserts but had to wait over 20 mins to get served and ice cream. Terribly sloe, no offer of apology. Nothing We were running late to the theatre by this point and we had allowed over 2 hours for a pre theatre dinner. Ridiculous. We had to quickly eat our mains which arrived 1 hr after we ordered. Would never return here and would advise you to book elsewhere. I felt.on edge the whole meal due to its chaotic nature. Service is non existent

Unfortunately, the food was not great - it wasn't terrible, but it lacked taste. It's a pity as the menu looked great and the staff was fantastic.

We booked this restaurant on the back of other very positive reviews. It was such a disappointment. Although the service was great the food was uninspiring and tasteless. I had the seafood red curry and it had no flavour or spice at all. The mango and lime chicken was dry and chewy. Additionally the food came out within a couple of minutes of our placing the order which just emphasised that it was not freshly cooked. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Such a shame.

They forgot our main course and we got it after I asked where the main course was...we waited almost an hour for it. A waitress called Kelley was also rather rude to one of the people wtih us. I would not go back.

Banana Tree has yet again delivered. Both me and my partner popped in before the theatre for some dinner, without a reservation on a Wednesday, and they were very accommodating. Our server Szilvi made sure that the items on the menu we could eat were shown to us (my partner and I are vegan) and that we had eaten in time for our show. The vegan options on the menu are wonderful and offer a great selection.

The Covent Garden team were excellent. We were seated straight away and the food was excellent. Szilvi our waitress was so excellent, she was professional and really had great attention to detail. Nothing was to much for her, that’s what’s was really really nice.

Great place, such good food and super friendly staff would defo come back . Really nice location aswell and friendly atmosphere and 2for1 cocktails

We had a lovely time being served by Joanna and the team. She had great banter and I loved it, she’s an icon. The team were pretty short staffed and super busy but it was still great. Joanna is the queen of our hearts. 💚

We got a last minute table for 9, service was excellent and they kept drinks topped up all night. Portions on smaller side but very tasty. Really good fun atmosphere.
