Banana Tree Birmingham Bullring in Birmingham

Went to banana tree for my wife’s birthday meal. Food potions are excellent and my food was delicious especially the beef rendang main course the beef was cooked perfectly and very full of flavours. My wife’s papaya salad was very bland she had to ask for chilli sambal paste to put in herself to flavour it but the quality of ingredients was good. My wife also had the beef rendang and equally enjoyed it. The nasi goreng was also very well made and flavourful. Overall a very pleasant evening

. . . . . ¡Es una mesa en el Banana Tree! Realmente no sentir el ambiente navideño este año y el día que la tormenta Darragh decide golpear la perspectiva de salir no me estaba llenando de alegría! Aunque como las entradas fueron compradas para un villancico de Navidad y una mesa reservada en mi lugar favorito para comer, aproveché el clima para reunirme con buenos amigos tratando de no ser 'Bah, Humbug'! El espectáculo fue genial en el Rep - ve a ver! Y luego cruzando un centro húmedo y salvaje de la ciudad, se fue a una mesa caliente con una bienvenida aún más cálida en el Banana Tree! Llegué y 'mi mesa' estaba reservada y estar de vuelta con el equipo es como pasar por una casa de amigos - todo el mundo es tan encantador y fue una alegría estar de vuelta! De inmediato las bebidas comenzaron a fluir - nos quedamos sin fondo con elementos suplementarios del menú principal - ambos han sido actualizados desde mi última visita con algunas adiciones fabulosas! En primer lugar vinieron las galletas de langostinos, aunque con la "salsa picante especial" - ¡oh, me he perdido eso! Para empezar mis compañeros de comedor fueron por el Pollo Satay por recomendación mía e Irina me dirigió a las alas de los Petardos (¡me conoce demasiado bien! ). En la red y todas las nuevas opciones aquí - el pollo crujiente en mango y salsa de lima dulce (ensalada en lugar de arroz para mí! ) era fabuloso y las damas tenían un Pad Thai y curry verde tailandés y estaban muy entusiasmados por la autenticidad de sus platos. A lo largo de todo probamos algunos de los nuevos cócteles - todo perfectamente mezclado por la fabulosa Kristina y nos cuidaron Irina y James perfectamente! Y justo antes de pasar una noche tormentosa en Brum donde los trenes fueron (naturalmente! ) cancelados y UBER eran más raros que los dientes de gallina (y más caros que los dientes de oro) - compartimos una porción del Banana más divino - fudgy (¡eso es una palabra! ) pastel para aumentar nuestra fuerza! Así que puedo decir felizmente que estaba muy contento de haber asumido la tormenta y al final del día me sentí mucho más en el espíritu de Navidad en gran medida hasta la buena comida y gran compañía con amigos y la familia Banana Tree! Como diría Tiny Tim '¡Dios nos bendiga a todos!'

Mi esposa y yo visitamos aquí mientras visitaba Birmingham por primera vez y nos gustaría no haberlo hecho. La comida no era genial yo tenía un curry de katsu sin apenas salsa de katsu en . . así que básicamente era solo una pechuga de pollo . . muy pobre . . cuando se trataba de pagar a mi esposa elegida para pagar escaneando el código QR y pagando con tarjeta . Nuestra factura era de alrededor de £ 45, pero el cargo por servicio que no se podía eliminar era más de £ 5 .. esto era más del 12% de la factura total. Ambos acordamos que habíamos tenido poco o ningún servicio, nadie vino y preguntó si nuestra comida estaba bien que simplemente lo pusieron en la mesa. No volveríamos a comer aquí de nuevo y ciertamente no habría dejado una propina del 12 %. Por favor evite este restaurante el servicio es deficiente y el cargo por servicio no es evitable.

I was foolish enough to choose a dish too spicy for me, I asked Irina If she had anything to cool it down, she whisked it away and asked me to make a second choice she delivered the second meal free of charge and with a smile. Great welcome and service from the whole team. Food was spot on and very generous portions. Team are very welcoming and friendly, and recommended us cocktails to try (delish) I recommend booking a table as this has always historically been a busy restaurant in any guise!

Great for a casual dinner with a chilled atmosphere and quick and friendly customer service. The chicken katsu curry and salt and chilli chips are to die for! Perfect portions; not too much, not too little. In the past, I have loved the cocktails (which are 2for1) but this time, I opted for mocktails (also 2for1) and the lime and lychee one did not disappoint! I would say thought that the entrance to the restaurant was quite dark and not necessarily inviting, so we did end up walking past initially as we didn't think that was the door to enter into!

Hemos estado en este restaurante dos veces ahora. Ambas veces nos sirvió Hemang. Un personal maravilloso. Apreciamos su humor y amabilidad. La comida era muy buena también. Sin duda recomendaría.

Chosen at random but didn’t regret it. Service impeccable, food good and pleasant outdoor seating which was fabulous for watching the world go by. Would definitely choose to eat here again. Tasty food, served attractively, at decent prices plus the benefit of 2:4:1 cocktails.

Came here with my friends for a catch up. The service was good even when the restaurant was busy. I liked that there were a lot of vegan options. I was a bit overwhelmed by the menu because there’s so much writing but the food was really nice. I ordered a teriyaki rice meal with vegan bites. My friends were hesitant to order meat dishes because they weren’t sure if the food was halal, it is halal but it would be better if it was clearly shown on the menu.

We arrived to await being seated on a Tuesday early afternoon. With plenty of tables free the waitress who begrudgingly came to seat us said that they were fully booked. Absolute rubbish. Clearly they just don't want to work so they r just turning people away. This place won't last.

We were visiting the area for the day, and decided to give this restaurant a try. Prices were reasonable. 241 cocktails all day approx £12 for 2. Recommend The Rangoon Zombie!!! (Although too lot of ice!! 🤪) Pan Asian fusion food. Tasted homemade. Recommend the chicken dumplings starter and the Beef Rendang main. Birmingham restaurant claimed they serve the best Katsu curry, to be honest, had better!!! And was disappointed. Although we were in there around 2ish, service was sporadic and we didn’t have 1 consistent server, no real atmosphere. I would visit a banana tree again as enjoyed the food.

Arrived here at 2pm, a party of three looking forward to a return visit to Banana Tree . we'd eaten here a few months ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere & the food and had really good service. This time it could not have been more different. The place was nearly empty but the sign said "wait here to be seated". so we waited... and we waited.... and we waited... No greeting. No acknowledgement that we were there. One person behind the bar taking an age to make a coffee , another (male) member of staff sat by the door on an endless phone call , resolutely not seeing us and a third (female) employee slowly drifting between tables with bits of food. "I'll be with you in a minute" she said then vanished for another three minutes. After 8 minutes of standing round being ignored in an almost empty restaurant we walked out to go elsewhere else and suggest you do the same. Such a shame how a place can change in so short a time from being really excellent to totally inept.

I went there with my son and I had the 2 for 1 mocktails which both of them have to arrive at the same time and stick to one type only which wasn’t great. The chicken dumplings should not have soaked in the sauce, the sauce should have been served in the pot as the dumplings was too salty. Calamari was meaty but not crispy. Mains were okay but not impressed with the price as it came to over £70 for 2 of us.

Lovly meal and service by rhian was spot on and made it very enjoyable :) Relaxing and good was so nice and will definitely be back

Delicious food, great service and chilled vibes. This is my favourite spot to eat. The food is super tasty. My favourite is the Singapore chicken laksa soup, chicken satay skewers and the spring rolls. I have tried everything except the seafood dishes and all I can say is everything I had is yum yum yum.

Hemang was super friendly and the food was amazing. I will definitely be coming back! 241 all day also helps ;) super fun!

Great food, service and quality venue. We really enjoyed celebrating our friend’s Birthday at Banana Tree. Our hosts were friendly and really accommodating to our requests. Would recommend this to groups of all types.

Honestly don’t know how anyone could say the food here is good. I haven’t written a review for a place in years but was genuinely so disappointed in food/staff/atmosphere of this place that I felt the need to. James is way too intense and honestly feels like he’s a moment away from punching someone. Seating was awkward, like we’d just been plonked between two big tables as they’d run out of space. Irina is rude and standoffish and it felt like she didn’t want to be there. When she approached our table she just stood there, none of the usual prompts you get like “can I start you off with some drinks”etc and none of the usual warmness you get from a waitress Started with a Long Island iced tea which tasted weak but the bar staff was lovely. Food came less than 10 mins after ordering which was the first warning sign. I had the sweet and sour vegan bites dish. The vegetables had a weird tang to them (like they had been sitting in a pot for a while) and the prawn crackers tasted a little stale. Overall it just did not look or taste fresh or seasoned (which you can see from the picture). More like a boil in the bag sauce and frozen veg. If the cheek of charging £15:95 for it wasn’t bad enough the 12.5% service charge was. Really don’t see the point of it, especially when the service is terrible. It’s also so awkward having to ask for it to be removed. Would not return again, even if you paid me.

Very good atmosphere, superfriendly and easy to chat to, serviceminded staff. Food was !AWSOME! Consistecy, flavour, *chefs kiss*. Good sized portions, sooo full. Chicken dumplings are to die for. Drinks 2for1 all day everyday (but prices acordingly). 10/10 reccomend! All the love from Norway!😘

Stopped by for lunch during a shopping trip. Really really enjoyed it. Lovely service from John and reasonable price for what we had. My wife went with the Chicken Pad Thai with was really generous and hot (temperature, not spice) when served. Really fresh. I had the chilli, lime leaf chicken - it was spicier (it does have a red chilli on the menu) but not crazy hot - more of a little kick really. Again, very good and comes with sticky jasmine rice and crackers. All in all a nice spot for lunch - a great welcome and service, good food - what more could you want?

Lovely food, friendly service — did take a while to come and take our order, and didn’t like that we had to get up to the station to pay, especially because then when there was a queue we were in the way for severs. Plus sat on a two right near the bar and kitchen port, which meant when severs were moving quickly nearly had a few meals spilt down my back

OK. Good service, pleasant and plentiful veggie spring rolls as part of the express lunch deal, but the teriyaki chicken main was very meh. Chicken clearly processed and completely tasteless.

This is the second time we have visited the Banana tree in two different locations and the food and service was just as fantastic as our first visit.
