We stayed here for a wedding weekend. Accommodation wasn't great, needs updating. No staff around, the cook was extremely rude and confrontational. Overall was really disappointed.

Arrived for 1 nights accommodation. Directed to let ourselves in and all COVID compliant. Rooms were small, comfortable and warm (a little too much furniture for me - but i always bump into something in the middle of the night) - Reasonable with a large car park - didn't have food - would go back.

Given how many places are cutting costs and simply microwaving food and charging a fortune for it it was great to get a freshly cooked decent meal for a reasonable price. We stayed overnight with work so after a long day it was great to get a nice meal. Staff were excellent.

The food here was absolutely top quality with a wide variety avalible on the menu with specials and vegetarian options on request. the chef here was happy to take any requests on the meal i had due to allergies and preferences. The rooms avalible are very well kept and in spotless state upon arrival with tea and coffee present in the room. The showers are very clean also and the beds are comfortable. As a result of this, i had a extremely blissful nights sleep where i didnt want to get out of bed the next morning for breakfast which is also avalible here with a very polite lady that cooks and serves it. Alongside this, the other members of staff i encountered on my stay was outstanding with excellent customer service values. There are facilities avalible on site that are also well kept and are clean.

Stayed here for a family wedding, venue was needs updating however when decorated for the wedding it looked lovely, lovely polite young lady showed us to our room, also was serving that evening behind the bar & serving breakfast she really is a credit to the baltic Inn.However our room was very dated the double bed & single bed were clean but thank god we didn't have to use the sofa bed as it was full of stains also the stool for the dressing table was full of stains other than that a pleasant stay, breakfast was OK again the young lady made a difference she was really happy to help sorry I didn't get her name but she deserves a pay rise.

Perfect location for Ffos Las racecourse, though rooms could do with an upgrade. Had a lovely evening meal and the 2 young staff were amazing. The experience was ruined though the following morning at breakfast due to the unbelievable attitude of one female staff member. Myself and 6 friends were stopped going in to the restaurant because we ‘hadn’t paid’. We had in fact paid an extra £5 pp for breakfast at the time of booking but this female was not having any of it. We had confirmation of the booking and payment but she was immediately verbally abusive, waving her arms in the air (in front of other guests) and stormed off saying she was ringing the manager. About 10 minutes later she came back into the kitchen but didn’t let us know if we were having breakfast or not. We decided the hassle wasn’t worth it and decided to leave, have breakfast elsewhere and claim our money back. I calmly explained to her that we had decided not to stay and she accused me of making her job more difficult. Not the usual customer service experience I’m used to. Needless to say I do not recommend this hotel and will not return.

We only visited for a meal as we had travelled to the area to visit my Dad who lives nearby. We had been to the restaurant previously many years ago and remembered how impressed we were with it all, unfortunately this no longer seems to be the case. The young lad who seemed to be bartender, chef, concierge for the hotel and also general manager was great but can't believe that on what you would expect to be a busy Saturday night, that he should be expected to do it all. Unfortunately the food was not up to the quality that we remembered.

Neither a satnav users or Welsh speakers, it took a little while to find the inn where we had booked in for a night. Our room was not overly large but had everything we needed including tea and coffee making facilities. We opted to have our evening meal at the inn. We had a while to wait for the meals to arrive but they were worth waiting for. The 10oz Welsh sirloin steak was voted one of the best ever tasted. We appreciated staying in this lovely peaceful location. Being midweek, the inn was fairly quiet but imagine it can be busy at weekends and with wedding receptions. Would be happy to return.

I have to say how bad this venue is for food and entertainment, I was in the venue with a party of 14 people last night and we all paid 29.95 each for a Christmas party menu, the starters were ok and that's it, the mains came out and we all had to send them back to be reheated in the microwave, the only veg available was sprouts and garden peas, no other veg choice which you would of thought you would have for the price of the meal, the deserts tasted like a Yankee candle.

Have dined at the Baltic many times in the past 10 years plus but it has of late, in my opinion, become a place I would no longer visit. The food is mediocre and this showed in the lack of customers on the sunday we had booked for the carvery. With the great choice of carvery in the Llanelli area this would be low on my list.

Kids and I had been planning this surprise party since February, and when my wife was diagnosed with cancer in March it became an even more special event. The owner, Daniel, couldn’t have been more helpful, and when I told him I’d chosen the venue because it was where I proposed to my wife nearly 25 years ago he added a complimentary stay in the bridal suite. We booked the function room and catered for up to 130 guests. Daniel checked last minute details with me the day before and on the night I was told that he was very attentive to ensure everything was in place and looked right. The food arrived on time and was complimented by all of my guests, without exception. The home made cakes that were brought round by helpful and attentive staff were all excellent. The bar was also quite reasonable for an hotel. I had about 100 guests in the end and everyone thoroughly enjoyed, with most highlighting the venue as a key factor in making the party go so well. There was one minor hiccup next day when I learned that family and close friends had been charged for rooms I’d already paid for, but this was an easy mistake and was rectified by Daniel within 24 hours. My wife and I will definitely return, as will a number of my guests.

Then out of us next morning tried to get 237.00 for a room that had already been paid for on our arrival .He charged 5.00 a pint for lager .He put the bride and groom on the day in a stressful place threatening for more money the night before the wedding .He never showed his face to help out or to answer any question he just went off site. To me the rogue of all rogues to pray on people and the vunrable scared of missing out on their big day they paid extra money .Nice place nice staff crap manager with no people skills

Visited on a Saturday evening with a large group of family. When we booked the table we were told they were going to be very busy that night. Walked in to find no one behind the bar with a sign saying ‘ring for service’. Definitely was not busy. Alarm bells should have started ringing now that a restaurant is virtually empty at 7.30 on a Saturday evening. Got drinks and were shown to table in pleasant enough looking restaurant area albeit the lit sweet display was empty and the glass covered in grubby hand prints. Only 2 other tables occupied in the restaurant. Menu was not very inspiring, average pub food offered i.e soup, prawn cocktail, steaks and pie or fish and chips etc. All seemed at a reasonable price. Starters arrived. 3 prawn cocktails with about 6 prawns in each on about 2 leaves of lettuce in a watery tasteless sauce and it was all warm. Tasted one prawn and it was disgusting. Refused to eat any more and sent it back to the kitchen. Apology from waitress. Other of our party had soup which was fine and one had nachos which was very bland and just dumped in a bowl. Should have walked out now. Mains arrived as a catalogue of disasters. One fish and chips, the fish wasn’t much bigger than a fish finger, one ribeye steak which was never a ribeye. One steak and ale pie which had been cooked in a microwave so long the pasty was rock hard and served with chicken gravy ??? Salmon that was served with no sauce and 2 burgers which I could have used as spares wheels they were that dense. All this time the female waitress was trying her hardest to apologise. Whilst the owner served customers in his gym t shirt and shorts. Not very hygienic at all. Brought all this to the attention of the owner whose only comments were ‘I will note this feedback for the chef’. Allegedly they have just had a new chef. (they need sacking in my opinion) No apology or anything. Now I came to my senses and didn’t give them the satisfaction of any more of my money and refused sweet and left never to return. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemies and wouldn’t be surprised if somebody gets food poisoning here.

Now this review may sound overly critical but please read on. We booked for mothers day and were quickly shown to our table. We chose prawn cocktail to start which was very nice and fresh. Now to the main course carvery. Well they give generous portions of very tasty meat which went down well for us and the yorkshire puds are delicious. A large selection of vegetables and I strongly recommend the roast parsnips. The vegetables were overcooked for our taste but this did not cast a shadow over what can only be described as a first class sunday lunch. Okay not the cheapest around but given the quality, quantity and excellent service it is more than worth paying a little extra, My one big suprise was finding the manager was dressed in jeans whilst his staff were all very smartly dressed. My advice to him, follow their lead! Hope he will forgive me for saying this but I'm old school and like to see management suitably attired. Anyway, sadly I do not live locally but when visiting family in Llanelli the Baltic will be top of my list for a superb sunday lunch.

We booked to go here for Sunday lunch later in the afternoon, whilst booking a table we asked if 14.30 would be ok to which we were told was fine. We were rushed whilst eating with a waitress constantly hovering over the table to check if we had finished. As soon as we had finished our plates were taken away and we were asked if we would like desert, my 10 year old niece wanted a chocolate cake to which we ordered. Whilst she ate her cake a member of staff working in the kitchen walked by and made the comment 'it's 15.30, they better leave soon or they'll be thrown out'. This was obviously directed towards us as we were the only people still sat in the restaurant. A waitress then came over and asked if we wanted the bill, before we had replied she placed the bill on the table which she had ready in her hand. At this point my niece was still eating. My sister and myself had meat free meals but were still charged full price. Extremely poor experience. We will not be returning.

We as a family of 10 went for a birthday meal for my mother, and it was fab! I had just come over a flu, so my appetite wasn't great, so I requested the Welsh Rarebit starter as a main, which they accommodated wholely, and it was above and beyond what I expected. Totally delicious. No one in the group had any complaints with their mains neither. The lamb shank just fell of the bone, and the pork main was moist and crackling was phenomenal. The wait for food was not massive, but just enough to know that it was all cooked fresh. The cost of the meals were totally fair for what was delivered beautifully, and was brought from a fantastic waitress who came and catered for us without being 'in your face'. I would completely recommend this place to anyone, and have done so to my friends and colleagues since.

It's difficult not to be impressed by a generous lunchtime menu offering two courses for under £10. Even on Saturday! Home made fishcakes made an excellent starter for my wife but the Welsh rarebit looked equally impressive on her friend's plate. My prawn cocktail might have been old fashioned but then I'm an old fashioned sort of person. It was copious and of high quality and the cute mini loaf of bread with a generous pat of butter made it even better. The fourth member of our group had the broccoli and blue cheese soup, again excellent. Then came the main courses. My fish and chips was as good as any I've had anywhere and better than most. Two others had baked salmon and one had risotto and again all was first class. We were too full to sample the impressive line up of home made puddings and just had coffees. Sadly, too cool and too strong. But that's not enough to prevent us going back and we shall certainly return!

Just returned from a lunch time visit with the family. Good welcome and chose to sit in the bar rather than the restaurant. Set lunch menu was £9.95 for 2 courses and food choices instantly felt a real step up from your average pub lunch. Kids meals offered to come with our starters and were well cooked with good portions....home made mash and high quality butchers sausages on a kids meal is always a good sign. To start we had creamy garlic mushrooms on toast and a salmon fish cake. Fish cake clearly home made with real flavour, texture added with a really nice pepper and tomato salsa topping....delicious. Mains were a shredded pork burger, black pudding and brioche bun. Extra effort made with home made onion rings and fresh apple sauce to add to the burger....don't see that on a £10 2 course lunch menu normally! Second main was pie of the day, again clearly homemade with great flavour and a good portion of skinny fries and veggies. Friendly service, great value for money and excellent food will definitely be back!

Cannot say enough about the service and the food. Chef was excellent. My starter was ribs and my husband had the Welsh Rarebit (both of which we enjoyed immensely). The Rarebit was a meal in itself. I followed with Rump Steak (beautifully cooked to my liking) with triple cooked chips. My husband had the gammon again with triple cooked chips. Both meals superb. We followed with Tiramisu for me and Profiteroles for him. Both yummy! The wine choice is not huge but was OK for us as they had what we wanted (Shiraz). My husband enjoyed his beer too. The menu is good and has food to suit everybody. Whether you are coming for lunch or dinner. Breakfast was buffet and equally good. There is also a large room to the left of the bar which can be used for weddings, parties, etc. If the food and service we had is anything to go by I do say try it! I normally pay £1.25 in a pub and £1.60 in a smart hotel in Llandeilo. The meal was only just OK as the veg was overcooked and had no taste. Carrots were either tinned or frozen at best. I remember when this place used to be one of the best sunday dinners around...Yet today it was a joke. If the cooking staff took as long to cook the chicken as the front of house took to do the bill - my food may have been cooked. Whats more shocking was the managements reaction to my chicken being still frozen in the centre, he seemed to just shrugg his shouilders and glance at the chef.. with a yes its cold in the middle, after sticking in his finger to test. Rather than that batch of chiocking being taken back to the kitchen the next reaction seemed to be turn on the hot shelf! The lettece in the salad bar had seen beter days, now I wouldn't normally comment about that but the staff (the few they had almost seemed demoralised) and the senior staf seem indifferent to customer service and the quality of what they provide.

I didn’t know whether to give this place 2 stars or 4. So gave it the benefit of the doubt. The bar area and particularly the restaurant are very pleasant places to sit in. Pre meal drinks in the bar, choose your meal and then showed you way into the restaurant. I can’t help laughing but the place reminded me of faulty towers. No organisation and nobody seemed to know what their role was. So we didn’t achieve the service desired. We even had the chef serving the food - unusual but a ‘nice touch’ lol. On the Saturday we were there as a couple, there were only 6 other diners so they must be doing something wrong! As for the food - by looking at the menu it suggested everything was brought in pre-prepared – was it? Not sure but I suspect the vast majority was. With a bit of imagination I am sure they could make some decent changes. We both had 2 courses – I had a sirloin and it was very good. The rest of the meal was ok. Because there were so few people in there we almost became a committee judging the establishment with mixed results. I think this place could be so much better, it is very clean, airy and pleasant restaurant décor and the setting is not bad either. What is lacking is their focus on the customer and a change in menu!

We had a horrible experience here - we went on a Saturday night, and there was only 1 other family dining in the whole restaurant, not a good sign. Some of the dishes on the menu we wanted were unavailable, they got our order wrong, food took ages to arrive, and when it did arrive it wasn't good - not awful, but not good at all. I ordered pate which was advertised as coming with a redcurrant jus and toast slices - it arrived with neither of these things!! When I told the waitress that these were missing, she went to the kitchen and brought back a burnt bread roll! They then got a main meal wrong and the waitress didn't apologise for this, just made an excuse about how the menu was new. After our food, the person on the bar rushed us out of the restaurant by asking us to pay as soon as food was cleared!! I found both staff that night to be short and unfriendly, like they didn't care. Also the atmosphere wasn't great either. When there are so many struggling restaurants out there, it's so annoying to go somewhere where they're not even trying. Please, don't eat here!

Went to the Baltic Inn for Christmas dinner at £50 per person .We choose the Baltic as it was recommended to us by family members who had Christmas dinner there the previous year . Our 'Christmas' experience was less than festive , service was atrocious - the waitress we had clearly hadn't waitressed before ( I hope not anyway ) couldn't pronounce / read pate' or the word crouton ! The service was so slow , we had to ask for the table to be cleared twice , waited an age for someone to arrive at the carvery to carve the meat , portion sizes were a joke and food quality was poor .Being a table of 9 at £50 a head they certainly made a decent profit out of us , I suggest they use the profit to employ staff who can read (!!) next year not that we will be attending !!Poor poor poor we enjoyed going there when the previous owner had it ( Rob I think ) but now we will be driving straight past !!Merry Christmas

Went for a meal with friends off a birthday celebration. My friend and I ordered the duck special at £15, with garlic potatoes. When it arrived my portion was around half the size of my friends (about 5cm square!) we were told it was because it was thicker but it clearly wasn't! The garlic potatoes had no garlic and were just boiled potatoes friend with some herbs sprinkled, duck skin was soggy And appearedto be 'boil in the bag' used to love going to my local but was very unimpressed with the food this time. The waitress though was lovely x

Went as a family group of 10 on a Saturday evening for a birthday. My wife and I are not big eaters so rarely have a starter as the main course is usually enough, but not on this occasion. My wife had duck and I had the chef's special beef cooked in red wine and mushrooms (posh stew) both of which were tasty. The beef was served in a small dish about 5 inches across and 1 inch deep and had 5 medium sized cubes of meet in it.Looking around at the size of other peoples servings I don't think they faired any better. The only ones who got a good sized helping were those that had the self service carvery, which was good value at £8.95.The service was not particularly good but I don't think this was the servers fault as there were only two of them for quite a large busy dining room.Overall a bit of a disappointment, particularly as my wife chose it as she had previously enjoyed lunch there a couple of times. Shan't be rushing back.

went for a sunday lunch today!what can I say, very very disappointed with the service we had from the waitress the pair of them looked like they didn't really want to be there.thaught to my self just an off day, then went to get mine and my partners garlic mushrooms, the top of the hot tub was off and the mushrooms were cold,i asked had they any more,i was told we shall put some more on will be about 5 to 10 mins,no good to me!!then the carvery, pork had finished,we have no more they said!yorkshire puddings, oooo they've finished, take a seat sir while we make you some more,so I had to sit there and watch the rest of my family eat all 7 of them, about 10 mins after we had Yorkshires yyyyaaaaayyyyyy, owwww dear they were black burnt to a crisp!!!!!I was now a tad angry!!!then no cauliflower cheese which was advertised!! I was now angrier as you can imagin.we were never asked if we needed anything or if the food was ok,pretty unprofessional to be honest.eventually when I sat down to eat my lunch it was cold so I eat my beef and a few spuds and that was it.we as a family ar usually very very easily pleased but today was a real let down.

Hi, this is one of our two favourites for a sunday carvery. tried quite a few places around area and we do return here or the new inn ponteberem.large starter selection with prawns, pate and chicken wings in salad barfood 95% of time is perfect, once we had ,eal and it wasnt quite up to normal scratch but it was late in day. nice staff and very accomodating. reccommended! this is an honest impartial review, been dissapointed by some other reviews recently not representative of what the places are actually like. must be writing their own reviews. The Baltic inn is a nice carvery! not the cheapest but I dont mind paying extra £1.50-£2 for something a lot better. desserts quite cheap though so if you have a two course it doesnt come to any more than your usual run of the mill pubcheers

I believe the Thomas Arms were going through a reorganisation when we booked our meal, and it was difficult to contact staff. However, they now have changed their contact system to cover the different dept options, so I'm sure this has been resolved. We were a party of 12, at a time when the pub was very busy with the Christmas light celebrations, but the staff seemed to manage well and the table service was very good. The food was good in general, and the starter options of cockles, and the sticky toffee pudding were outstanding. All the staff were very pleasant and attentive

This was a great spot for lunch! We stopped off on spec and I was pleased to see vegan options. I had the vegan burger which was lovely. My parents had the chicken burger and the gammon, and they were equally pleased with the food, the portions and the service. I also had a vegan crumble tart with custard which was delicious! Overall a very pleasant experience, although prices were a little on the high side.

Stopped off here for lunch with my elderly mum and was pleasantly surprised. Whilst the seating was adequate the staff were very friendly and cleared vacated tables promptly. The drinks and food menu’s had plenty of choice and I decided to have the jacket potato with chicken curry which came with a salad garnish. The portion was great and the chicken curry was delicious…mum had a toasted sandwich which came with a small salad, coleslaw and some crisps. Both very reasonably priced and would not hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a lunch time bite. We will return.
