Cosy restaurant. You feel comfortable and the staff make you feel very welcome. It’s easy to park with a free car park just around the corner. Food is fresh and hot and the restaurant is very clean. This will be my regular for a curry now :) portion sizes are generous and I think the prices are reasonable aswell.

I lived in Southam for three years, emigrating to the USA in 2007. When I come home, my brother in law takes me to his favourite Indian restaurants around Coventry. On a recent trip I asked if we could go over to Southam to see Icky and Bob. What a fantastic experience is the newly remodeled restaurant. I was stunned that Icky recognised me! The food was as fantastic as I remembered, the hospitality, second to none. I'm coming back home for a visit in two weeks and the Balti Hut is on my list. Hopefully I'll get to see Bob this time too! Thanks Icky!

We moved into Southam recently and like our Indian meals, so we were hoping our local Indian restaurant, The Balti Hut, was going to be nice and important to us, had friendly staff. We were not disappointed and can thoroughly recommend this restaurant and yes, we were very happy to quickly be on first name terms with Bobby, Icky & Inman. We’ll be back again soon!

Me and my partner love coming here! The owners and staff are always welcoming and have smiles on their faces! Being vegan, we always struggle to find curry houses that cater for us, but here they always do, if it’s nothing on their menu, they will always ask us what our favourite veggies and flavours are and make it all fresh from scratch! (Can’t get better than that) on top of that the food is always 10/10 including popadoms, rice and roti! I would 100% recommend coming here and help pay towards the local business! Staff are always polite and caring and sociable and the food is always perfect and cooked to how we like it! If I could give it 6 out of 5 I would! And another bonus is that you can bring your own alcohol or soft drinks in too! The brothers who run it are the nicest guys around and the other staff are friendly which is a main thing for me when dining.

First time ordering from The Balti Hut, and definitely the last. I wish I read all these reviews prior to ordering. My food order was collected, and considering I live minutes away the food was absolutely stone cold. No authentic Indian flavour at all?! (I see many other people have mentioned this!) The Samosas and Onion Bhajis were something you’d get from the frozen isle of Iceland! Dinner was awful, dry meat and so tasteless. Whole family agreed they didn’t like their food. Don’t order from here. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The chicken tikka in the meal had no tandoori flavour. I may as well of had plain chicken. The massalla sauce was very disappointing, with no authentic spicing. It was like a jar sauce with no texture. Naan bread was very small and flat. No fluffiness to it at all. The take away experience was all very odd, the restaurant was in darkness, no music or ambiance and it was quiet apart from another customer chatting with the owner who was using a lot of loud expletives in conversation (the customer). I was so pleased i didn't have the children with me and to be honest my gut reaction was to walk out and i wish i had. I wont be recommending or going back. Much better to travel into Warwick.

Our first visit for a couple of years. During lockdown last year, the Hut was given a complete make-over. It now looks more like what you would find in a top class hotel or restaurant. Of course, a new look in itself is no good if the quality of the food does not come up to expectations. I visited on a Monday night with some friends. All our meals were exceptionally well cooked and very nicely presented. To me it seemed vastly superior to how I remember from our previous visits. Prices do not seem to have increased significantly and as always, quite large portions. Oh, and you can rest assured that the toilets have also had a re-vamp! (Regulars will know what I mean!) The only downside to this restaurant is that it is totally unsuitable for disabled people. Obviously this is un-avoidable due to its upstairs location.

The staff were really nice and friendly which stopped me from being too harsh in my review, however I feel the restaurant is let down by the quality of the food. The onion bhaji's and samosas were like the cheap supermarket sort you cook from frozen, not the large freshly prepared beauties i was hoping for. The main course was slightly better but nothing like the description. The quantity was great but the chicken, despite being tender, was quite dry like when you slow cook something too long. Also my dish had no actual curry flavour or spice whatsoever. It wasn't unpleasant but tasted more like chicken in black bean sauce rather than a curry. I didn't complain as i found it edible, however probably won't be rushing back :-(

Despite the recent re-furbishment of the Balti Hut, we are still a bit hesitant to 'eat in' so a take-away was the next best thing! The food was excellent, nicely presented and good portion sizes too. They need to update their website as there is no online menu or ordering facility but fortunately we already had one of their take-away menus.

I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when I started eating it, it had what seemed to be mince meat in it and the chicken tasted horrible. I had to chuck the whole lot away. I don't eat here often but post this review as some of the reviews on this restaurant are very unfair : to set the record straight : 1) it has always been bring your own bottle 2) it is extremely friendly , they know many customers names and remember their favourite dishes 3 ) it is always empty mid week , this is Southam not Shaftesbury Avenue . For this review : Went there Fri 27 March, everything was good. Quick service , varied menu and cheap ( £28 for popadums, main meal , side dish and non alco drinks for 2). Don't understand how this is only #6 of 11 in the ratings , I have been every where in the area and this must be in the top three. Would recommend it : you can pub crawl and if you drop your beer off first , you can end up in the Balti Hut and they will have it chilled at your table with glasses : brilliant !! There is a shortage of friendly reliable restaurants , I am surprised that anyone would criticise somewhere as sound as this.

The five of us ordered our food Inc starters which arrived quickly. Presentation was okay and food was okay if a little uninspiring. Main courses again arrived efficiently and again were okay but all looked identical and were bright red. It tasted okay but we commented that one big batch must have been cooked and varied slightly for each dish. Price was okay if a little expensive for our experience. On the whole the Baptist Hut was...(and I've used this word a lot in this review) okay. But that's about it. The place and it's menu is dated and lacks modern inspiration. There are much better Indian restaurants locally and better value. It my be okay for the locals to stumble into on a Saturday night after closing wanting a no frills "Only Fools and Horses" curry house, but for anyone with a more experienced Indian palate look elsewhere. We were watched intently by all the staff while we ate too which made us uncomfortable to say the least! As this is the only Indian restaurant in town your screwed for choice. Would we go back? I doubt it... They need to up their game. Being the only Indian in town has made them complacent and lazy. People will travel for better. I know we will.

I've just moved to the area so I'm still sussing out what's good and what's not, this is definitely good! My friends and I are massive curry fans and have had some of the best but we all said we would definitely return to the Balti Hut, highly recommended.

Hadn't been to the Balti Hut for a couple of years and I'm sorry to say I won't be going again.Lovely friendly staff as always but that was the only positive. The popadoms tasted of very old used fat. The lamb dishes were like very dried out roast lamb with an awful sauce poured over them the chicken korma wasn't too bad but completely flavourless. The worst Indian meal I've ever had!To top it all off it was also one of the most expensive!

Looking at reviews of this place, the good people at the Balti Hut have been doing this for quite some time. I swithered over making a review as I want to say positive things but have to say I was a bit disappointed. Its ok to the extent that I think it is the only Indian in southam so you can exercise your curry buds that way BUT dont think the standard would stand up in town. Outside is disconcerting but inside is dark but welcoming. My problem was with the food and the somewhat awkward service. Crunchy rice - reckon it was kept from previous day or simply not cooked properly. In an indian!?Service was awkward as it seems there is a hierarchy in the waiters and only a certain level can welcome you whilst the other takes your order. Anything else to add would just be picky but overall, worth a look if you want an Indian in a small village.

We've been going to the balti hut for the better part of 17 years - the staff have known our children from toddlers to undergraduates and ask after them on first name terms whenever we visit. Food is standard UK version of Indian subcontinent fare but with a smile they happily tweak the recipies to suit the client - me, I like mine hot and spicy and they certainly dont spare the chillies. There is no licence so if you want a beer or wine bring your own, they are more than happy to provide a corkage service free of charge but there's plenty of soft drinks behind the bar too. A good takeaway service is also offered and its necessary to book the restaurant weekends such is its popularity. No wheelchair access with entrance ( and toilets) up very steep stairs but this is the only negative I can think of.

A rare family get together - party of 8. Had to wait quite a long time for the food (but plently of popadoms and dips to keep us going). Food was great. One of our party who eats Indian food at least once a week said it was one of the best curries he had tasted. Took our own alcohol and was expecting to have to take the 'empties away' but the staff cleared everything for us. A great evening and great value for money.

restaurant on the first floor, no drinks licence, no tablecloths, just a knife and fork set aside a worn table mat on a tiled table.no spoons. popodoms that tasted of old cooking oil served on a plastic basket , chutneys were water thin.my wife asked for a candle to brighten the place up, it came stuck down on a saucer ! paper serviettes...the list just goes on.the food wasn't very nice, chicken and lamb were tough, rice was dry and flinty.... O k for twenty years ago. I don't know, but I think it must be the only Indian in Southam !! would I go again....no.

The curries taste great but they're pretty oily. The food has great flavour so full-marks from me for Food. Shame they don't do the red onion sauce which is my absolute fav. Cheers guys for many nice dinners.

Very welcoming and personable staff. We shared spinach and chickpea puri with a paneer tikka - both really good. Followed by aloo gobi, vegetable balti, pulao rice and naan bread. All really tasty and nicely prepared and served. One last thing, great value for money!
