Great local eatery! Always busy, which is a good sign. Modern interior, friendly service, nice food, good value. We have tried various dishes and always been good.

Wish I could give it no stars Had a takeaway last night it was disgusting !! I phoned them up to complain and they were rude on the phone ! Just told me to leave a review as they didn’t care !! Ordered popadoms and dips which only one was edible 2 runny tasteless Yogurt dips and a bag of onions 🤢 Main course Northern garlic chilli chicken tasted of nothing ,a Naga veggie curry was a bowl of onion no chilli nothing Cold Nan and rice It was disgusting threw it in the bin £27 down the drain and their attitude on the phone was terrible Should be closed down!!!

Two and a half hour wait for a delivery, two calls made on the hour to request update on delivery time - poor at best - never again

I had the pleasure of dining last night, and it was an exquisite culinary experience from start to finish. The service was generally excellent, with attentive and courteous staff. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and was able to provide recommendations based on our preferences. We ordered Chicken Tikka Palak and it was delicious. I look forward to return here to experience more of their culinary delights.

I loved all the food that we ate. the service was really good and i loved the waiter who helped us choose our food. The place is also very well decorated! Highly recommended, will go again.

I recently tried the Green Murgh dish at Dilshad and it was amazing! The flavor was so unique and complex, with a mix of spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The dish was served with a delicious green sauce that had a hint of sweetness and a bit of spice. The presentation was also very impressive, the Green Murgh dish was a great experience and I would highly recommend it!

Enjoyed chefs special and my partner had tikka palak - both were lovely, served quickly, full of flavour and looked amazing. Restaurants designed is super cool and cozy - love the lights! Will recommend.

Came here with my friends on a night out, a very busy restaurant - packed. I'm not into overally spicy food. The young waiter recommended "Chef's Special" Delish!!! Their Garlic sag rice is to die for!!!

We got a takeaway from here and my husband got back to our air bnb and realised he was given the wrong food, meaning he was unable to eat his food and had no dinner. He rang the restaurant and they said they would agree to refund the full meal. This hasn’t happened. My husband rang to complain today and the deputy manager accused him of being a liar and hung up on him and said they would only ever refund a dish - this was not what was communicated on the evening. I then spoke to the same person who didn’t seem to want to listen to me and spent most of the call talking over me, despite my calm and polite manner. We will never use this place again, not due to the mistake as mistakes happen but due to the poor communication and rudeness we received - particularly calling my husband a liar. We are now out of pocket and my husband never did get his dinner - not the best start to our mini break in the area!

Popped in here after we used to visit back in the day and that was about as good as it got Got the food order wrong and after finding out back at our holiday home 10 miles , ruined the take away and then tried to charge us twice after being promised a full refund of which also did not materialise. Very aggressive response from ‘ the manager ‘ accusing me of being dishonest , a liar and trying to misrepresent what they had said. It was very defensive for a £20 order as I was told to tell someone who cares before being hung up on . They even admitted the initial mistake. Good luck running your business like that fellas

Appalling! Will absolutely not be going again. Me and partner were regulars to this Indian however I will absolutely not return! I went with a few of my friends (all female) and can say we had the most uncomfortable experience with one particular waiter. Who basically bribed us with chocolates and implied one of my friends should go upstairs and sleep with him! We were then told several times the meal was free due to card payment issues and when we came to leave the restaurant we were accused of leaving without paying. I felt SO uncomfortable about the situation I returned to the restaurant and verbally complained about this waiters attitude. I believe my comments were most likely disregarded. Never have I felt so disrespected. I also noticed that there was a significant lack of females in the restaurant (just me and my friends) I have a feeling this waiters behaviour is driving certain customers away. I certainly won't be returning and advise everyone to stay well away! *Wish I could put no stars. They don't even deserve one!

We have been going here for years. Never again. It was our friend's birthday one of the waiters commented that he remembers us being there last year, sparklers on the cake etc. We're having a nice time despite the lude comment by one waiter to the women and asking 3 times for water before it arrived. We asked if we could order some coffees and some plates for the cake we'd brought our friend. They took the coffee order and 5 mins later brought a small cake with candles lit singing happy birthday. We genuinely thought this was the restaurant as a gesture of regular customers bringing this cake. Once the candles were blown and cut it was only then apparent that the cake was actually for another party. We offered them our cake but they didn't want it, then a little while later the restaurant must have got one from Tesco for the other party. We were pretty embarrassed over this. But then the bill came. They charged us £10 for the cake we hadn't ordered it and it was a few pounds worth at best. We complained and they refused to take it off the bill. The other party was disgusted and they have now lost 15 people's repeat custom.as both parties vowed never to return. Strange business model to alienate 15 people for £10. The managers attitude in particular was appalling and the one waiter, whose mistake it was, kept blaming us for asking for a "cake" which we had no idea was behind the bar.

Great place to eat. I know it's had it's ups and downs over the years but at this present moment it's very good. Excellent menu, great value (BYO helps) and the service is prompt and polite. My partners Chicken Tikka Bhuna Masala was outstanding. Have a pint of Bathams in the Bird first and enjoy a great curry. Definitely worth a visit.

Sauce tasting not to bad but the chicken just the same pre cooked chicken left over Xmas chicken and when u complain the staff are not bothered at all just want your money so don’t bother just find a better review (spice village lye ) ? Try 👍

We visited on a Tuesday night with 8 of us and they found us a table no problem! They had run out of panneer but even this was no issue as they went out and got some for us. Above and beyond!

Been going here for a couple of years however the last few months the food has been either fantastic or inedible like it was on our last two visits. Maybe two chefs??? There is one particular member of staff who could certainly do with some customer service training. We mentioned our food wasn't up to their usual standard and although 3 of us ordered the same dish they were totally different in taste and colour. No apology given just a very abrupt and curt "I will tell the chef". This staff member also argued with a customer over telephone which made us and other customers uncomfortable. All four members of our party left the food and left The Dilshad very disappointed and unhappy customers.

A small group (4) of us came here a few weeks ago and we were left very disappointed with our experience. We had been in the restaurant for approx. just under 2 hours and we had only received pappadoms and starters (we even had to prompt the staff several times before these arrived as we thought they had forgotten about us!) When the starters did arrive the onion bhajis were luke warm at best, as though they had been sat in the kitchen for a while waiting to be brought out.

As someone who works in customer service an apology goes along way. It was my Mother’s birthday and our booking was at 7.30 but we didn’t get our starters until over an hour later and that was only because I reminded the staff we hadn’t had them.

Eveytime we go food is amazing , along with the service . Well worth a visit best Indian in Stourbridge !

Last week I ordered a takeaway through Just Eat. The order was confirmed and a time for delivery was given. It did not arrive on time. I telephoned Dilshad but the number was constantly engaged. I therefore telelephoned Just Eat who were most helpful. When they had spoken to Dilshad they inform me that the meal would be delivered in 10 minutes. In fact it was 15 minutes. I asked the driver to ask the manager to phone me as the delivery was so late and I would discuss payment with him/her when we had discussed the issue. This evening I placed an order through Just Eat and was given a delivery time of 20:30. I telephoned Dilshad to say the order had not been delivered. I was told they would not deliver as I had refused payment before. I said I had asked the manager to phone me but I had not received a call. They said they had telephoned Just Eat to say they would not deliver. I telephoned Just Eat who said they had not had any communication from the restaurant. Appalling service!!

Not quite sure about Christmas lunch in an Indian restaurant, but totally converted!

Started to get to 15-20 mins late so I decided to ring up the restaurant, it took 15 minutes to get through to them. Staff were very unhelpful, mumbling and talking to other staff members before responding to me. Food arrives and the quality is abysmal. barely any meat and didn’t taste up to scratch. Service is a joke after ordering two hours before, arrived cold and after reporting it to restaurant told that we are really busy and nobody is available to talk to you.

Poppodums were stale. Starters arrived after one hour 15 mins and were barely warm. Whilst waiting for main courses the management moved 2 people from the table next to us to accommodate a party of 8 who arrived and hadnt pre booked as we had. Very drunk group using abusive language and very loud. Management did nothing about it. We left without waiting for the main course. Spoilt our whole evening. We will definitely NOT be going back. We would not recommend this restaurant.

The family have been coming here for nearly thirty years and still prefer it to other similar outlets. Service is always polite and attentive and helpful. The midweek special was not advertised but is a bargain at £9.50 and £10.95. Portions were big enough that the three children could share with adults with a plate of chips.

Long wait for food. No contact from them to tell us leaving it too late to order elsewhere meaning we were eating far later than we wanted to. Food is average at best.

Had a delicious meal delivered to our home. Recommend the coconut rice which we have not had before. Prompt service.

I do wonder with Dilshad if they have more than one chef as when I have visited in the past, I either get a fabulous or very poor meal.

Went with 3 other people on a Saturday night. Pre booked and took our own alcohol as it isn't licenced. Excellent table service, good waiters and nothing seemed too much trouble. Had popadoms to start which came with 5 sauces and onions. My main course was balti chicken saag madras with extra chill is finely chopped, garlic fried rice and a keema Naan. Have to say I've eaten in most curry houses locally and lots wherever I've been, some very expensive. This was the very best ive had in a long long time. It was simply a delight to eat and all of us had superb meals. Nice atmosphere too.

We visited for the first time last Saturday with friends. Really enjoyed the food - best lamb dhansak I've ever tasted - and we all agreed it was good. Mo was friendly and helpful, especially when my management turned up an hour after us. Can't understand negative reviews!

I've tried most of the curry houses locally but this is the best food and service by a long mile. Its unlicensed so you can bring your own wine and the staff are so welcoming. This is definitely No 1 in my opinion

Went for a friend's 50th. Rude staff, very slow service, freezing cold restaurant and food was not great either. Also kids on other tables watching videos out loud on their ipads.

I was surprised at how long it took for pretty bland food to arrive. Tried ordering a cola three times before one arrived, the staff / manager didn’t really give me impression that they knew what they were on top of what they needed to do to keep the wheels turning. Completely overwhelmed by a large party I think. I won’t return sadly, after what started off looking like a promising night.

Ate here last night. A group of 20 of us had pre booked for a special night out. We were told before booking we could order a starter, mail meal with either rice or nan bread for £9.50 each. We waited one and half for our starters. Mine was a tasteless orange (??) onion bhaji. We then waited ages for our mains. All tasteless and very small portions. One of our group ordered a vegetarian meal and found meat in it after she had eaten half of it, another had under cooked chicken. They were very slow at serving us, nan breads came out after most had finished their meal. Staff were ignorant, rude and tried to over charge us. This didn't go down well with our group and despite remaining calm and polite were told we were banned and not to come back again. At another table, four dinners waited over 2 hours between their starters and main meals and left without paying. It was a night to remember but for all the wrong reasons. Avoid this place unless you want food poisoning

Attended this restaurant with friends on Wednesday 21st February & was disappointed with the level of service & attention conducted by the staff. We arrived & was aware that there was a party of approx. 20 already sitting down. We waited 1 hour & 50 minutes before seeing a sign of our main meal & this only appeared when we cancelled our meal. At no point was we advised of any any delay. In the end we paid for what we had received. We was not the only party disappointed that night as people we talked to had a disappointed experience to. This including a family & the party members.To say that this restaurant has a sign above the entrance stating "award winning" i think this should be revisited. Guys just be honest with your customers of delays & do not fob people off with feeble excuses. You are doing yourself any favours.

Had a take away and it was the worst ever. Starter for 2 was barely enough for 1. Main course was lukewarm, very bland despite being 'medium strength' and the meat chewy. The nan bread was burnt with no garlic to speak of. Most of it ended up in the bin. Complete waste of money. Much better takeaways in the area. The poppadoms were ok!

Sin embargo, tan pronto como entramos en el dilshad nos recibieron y nos llevaron a una mesa de inmediato. Los camareros eran atentos y amables. La comida era realmente buena y que también tenía acceso popadoms. No podíamos haber estado más contentos con la comida y el servicio y que resultó completamente nocturno. Gracias!

Called in on the off chance, did not want to cook around 8.45pm It was on a Tuesday and was very quiet,the Waiters were very courteous and helped with our menu choices as my wife and I had not been in an Indian restaurant for many years. We settled on Tandoori chicken which was beautifully served and cooked,our friends had the Balti choices and were very pleased with them. Overall a very nice dining experience. Have since used there takeaway service again well cooked and plenty of it.

We booked the Dilshad for family meal on New Years Eve and were a bit nervous after a few months earlier having a meal which wasn't up to there normally good standards but everything was great. We live locally and visit about every 3/4 months for a family meal and always get great service and food even though some reviews are not so kind

Having just moved down to Stourbridge, thought we would try this restaurant as it was local. BIG MISTAKE. Had prawn puri to start, not to bad but then the main course arrived!!!! It was supposed to be Chcken Tikka Rogan Josh. It was plain chicken in a bland tomato sauce. The side of Gobi Aloo was also bland and the paratha bread, doughy and undercooked. I would recommend not to go here even after afew drinks as another customer recommended.

I have had take away meals from this place before, and whilst they are not the best, they are OK for the price.I had a Lamb Mumbai meal tonight, that had to go straight in the bin. The "Lamb" was so tough, that even could not be cut through with a steak knife. It was full of potatoes and onions, and tasted as if it had been cooked and frozen and then microwaved. The rice was well cooked and tasty. I called the restaurant to report this awful meal, to be informed that the "Lamb" is actually Mutton. I do feel that this should be advised on the menu, as I don't eat Mutton, it's known for it's toughness.The restaurant did advise me that they will give me a complimentary meal should I go there again, but I think I may give this place a wide berth in future

Visited this place during summer holiday, as it is my freinds local, the place looks small on the outside but it is quiet big inside with an upstairs, not licensed so you can bring your own, opposite there is a tesco, food is really cheap for the quality, not tight on portions, one of the best meals i have had. highly recommend this restaurant.

Very seldom (IMHO) does one come across a more aptly named operation. The Balti Dilshad has been operated by Mr. Noor Miah since 1983. Wicki tells us that Dilshad refers to An amazing, unique, funny guy. Knows when to be serious but rarely do you see this side of him.Always a smile for everyone he sees!That is Mr. Miah %. Not to mention his cooking,yes the Patron ,despite his age or quite possibly BECAUSE of same likes nothing better than to Stand The Heat & get INTO the kitchen. Basic Balti to Fine Fusion coupled with A " Can-Do! " approach will provide a delectation to remember. Thank you ,all at the Dilshad for three decades of cuisine. Keep up the good work.

Went here for a meal on a Friday night in January. I have never been impressed with this place but decided to give it one final chance. I have to say I was disappointed more than ever before.The place is filthy and it needs a damn good clean, or shutting down and totally gutting. The place is cold, the floor sticks to your feet, the toilets are disgusting (....so I wonder what state the kitchen is in?), the decor is desperate, and we waited 50 minutes for a rubbish tasteless meal.Will not be returning!

Cheap and cheerful restaurant where you need to take your own alcoholic drinks.I had a chicken and prawn garlic special which was a bit bland.not the worst curry house in the area but not the best either

The balti dilshad is a good place to go if you want a relatively fast meal, at a low price. It is bring your own drinks, which I think is fantastic - it keeps the bill down. However alternatively they do serve a tremendous amount of other soft drinks, if you prefer that. There is plenty of dishes to choose from, and your not waiting to long for your food to arrive either. There mint sauce is tasty. I always go for the garlic king prawn. I can't seem to get it quite like it anywhere else I have been locally. The decoration in the dilshad changes quite frequently so it's not dirty - well kept. Overall I do recommend the dilshad, a great local indian, at a reasonable price and decent portions.

Bad experience sorry have to review in detail:Went in on a rainy day you enter what do you see slippery tiles with a 1960s rug if that's what you call a piece of carpet, I slipped on the tiles which are like dancing on ice so carpet was no use being there. Waiter sat us on a top table which was nice but hold on I hear a leaking noise from a table away from us oh it's a leak from the ceiling, can it get any worse; rain water.If I remember the waiter did ask if I was ok from the slip and if I wanted some water or anything but I laughed it off saying I can save your bill by taking it off the leaking water, waiter asked if we wanted to move tables but I said no as my body was in a bit of a pain.Order taken promptly and yeah it is BYO on drinks. Order served promptly food tasted excellent, owner seemed friendly. Bill was not to bad.Overall the tiles at the entrance put me off and the incident I had with the slip. Also forgot to mention toilet smelt very bad and carpets are greasy and sticky. Food was nice not coming back in the rain

Me and my family have used this place for the last 10 years or more for both eating in and take aways and we have never had to make a complaint. It is bright and clean inside, the staff are always friendly and happy to help, and the food never disappoints it is always delicious. The people who have complained clearly do not know what good indian food is as the balti dilshad is excellent!

For a restaurant with award after award splashed across the cover of the (tacky, plastic) menus, you'd probably reasonably expect the food here to be better than it was when I visited recently.Like many restaurants of this ilk, this place definitely has its regulars and you seem to be guaranteed better service if you happen to fall into this category. Negative number one. The place itself has been extended but looks half-finished and was freezing cold.On to the food, and the starters (onion bhajis) were adequate, but the main course I had left a lot to be desired. It was called "golden chicken balti", and as far as I could tell it consisted of a few strips of chicken, undercooked peppers and whole boiled egg in a watery, sloppy tomato sauce that seemed to be entirely made of tinned tomatoes. It certainly wasn't anywhere near golden. I added three quarters of a (rather paltry) portion of rice to it, and it still slopped off the spoon like soup.The total bill wasn't unreasonable, but the quality of food was pretty shocking, really, and the service was far from excellent. I would hesitate to use this place again despite living very nearby. There are a myriad of other good curry houses in the local area and so I wouldn't really say there's any reason to go here.

we went late on saturday night and we were the last to leave, i like the choice here as it never ends, if you want to try a different style try the combination meals, i had an indian mixed grill.... i had a little laugh.... but when it came it was on a sizzling platter and was a wonderful taste explosion, as a side they brought some hot mixed vegatables in a sauce.... if i was a vegetarian i would have asked just for that is was wonderful, it was very quiet only 3 couples in but we went to eat and came away with half as there was so much, good job guys and we will be backwe have been many times but not for many years, glad we went because the food was as good as we remembered, when there try something different, explore your taste buds, indian food is great for vegatarians there is so much flavour our meal with starter, poppadoms, main meal and a coke was about £12 - £15 each which is not expensive, and we had some to take away as we had loads and eaten loadswill be back soon

Tiny restaurant,been in this location for years and set back off the main road going into Stourbridge,open daily I have often popped in for a take away order all the usual favourites,nice and spicy served up hot and delicious,I had a very nice chat to the owner and I asked for something that was not on their menu and they said they would happily make tis for me,I often pop in and have never been disappointed,try it for yourselves..............

We live near the Dilshad and have eaten here many times. You can take your own alcohol and the food isn't expensive, so it makes it a good night for the wallet. Food is lovely and the menu has lots of choice.

Just ate a meal recently well the service was excellent food was great. The only thing I would say is I believe there is some work taking place in the restaurant and the restaurant decor seems to be shambles with the new decor which I think is taking place well I assume its new decor if not god knows what went wrong. When I entered with my partner we parked in their car park although it didn't mention this on the car park and we went to the restaurant through the alleyway. We seen that the outside looked clean. Went inside and was greeted by a waiter sat down and they had ripped wallpapers, restaurant smelt of tile glue (realised this as I am a builder). We then ordered. Food was great. I then went for a cigarette and seen that their outside cigarette ash and butt holder was damaged. While smoking I felt rain on my head although I was under a shelter and then later realised it had a hole in it. I went back to the restaurant and realised my partner was in the toilet. I waited for her to come back and I then went to the toilet and seen that the toilets where clean BUT I think they was also having work done in the toilets as work looked unfinished and had a strong smell like a drain leak or something (toilet floor was wet with urine). I would recommend them to put a small openable window or ventilation. When I went back to the table realised the restaurant was long. They had a Section which was covered when I asked a waiter the waiter said they had that done that last year and they use it in the weekends but I think this was a lie as I will never come back to a restaurant like this our meal together came to under £20 or something. Value for money but not a nice restaurant decor wise

Not busy when we got there, but seated next to a load drunk party. Service was poor, had to go and pay at the till. Food ok

We enjoyed our meals very much and the staffwere frienly and polite we were quite surprised at how quick the food comes out. It is a lovely resteraunt and we will be returning soon!

I went to a Christmas meal there Dec 2011. Food was very tasty, service was great and the bill for 14 of us was less than £200 so very reasonable. They served alcoholic drinks too.There is a public car park at the back of the restaurant so easy to access.Highly recommended!

I have been going here for 20 years or so and it has always been a favourite. All other Indian restaurants get measured against this on that I have been to and in my opinion this is the best. I always have Chicken Dhansak which is beautiful. Tandoori Chicken on the bone is also a favourite. Friendly, family run business that uses good quality ingredients.

Good food, family run service great atmosphere. A simple honest to goodness Indian that has been in business for 20 years. A varied and well priced menu, to please most pallets. My favourite is the tandori mix and my wife usually has the biryani. Licensed but the selection is mostly bottled beers but you can take your own alcohol. Set out for couples with upstairs usually taken by parties of teenagers mostly well behaved. Dedicated parking around the back. No need to book but gets lively at the weekend. Well placed for real ale pubs in the vicinity all within walking distance. Right on a busy main crossroad so expect traffic noise.
