Bali Brasserie in Brighton and Hove

I went with a group of eight for my birthday. What a super time we had. Attentive staff, great food and reasonable prices. Lovely ambience. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes very tasty dishes from Indonesia or Malaya; full of variety. We shall return for an Xmas meal.

Excellent service but found the food a little sweet for my palate.

What a wonderful experience. We had dinner here with friends. The food was incredible, I have never tasted anything like it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Jason Lee was the entertainer for the evening. Oh what a wonderful voice that man has and what a brilliant entertainer! It was my first time here, it definitely won't be the last!

I must have missed the review where it was advised that this was a karaoke bar as well as an Indonesian, I’d decided that I really wanted an Indonesian, the location choices were Birmingham, London or Brighton. We chose Brighton, the restaurant/bar was pretty much deserted, although there was a crowd of people in the Karaoke bar. I thought ok, I can live with that, as I was really looking forward to a Rijsttafel (rice table) only to be disappointed as they only do that two nights a week and not on the night we were there. I ordered a couple of dishes off the menu, they were ok, nothing special.

Attentive and prompt service, good food and a fun, unexpected karaoke on the evening we dined. Happy to recommend this restaurant for a good meal out.

14 ladies out for a good evening! We had a fabulous evening at the Brasserie last Sunday, from the booking the service, food, and karaeoki entertainment was superb, 1st class venue clean helpful. Really felt looked after. Thankyou to the manager bar and kitchen staff you made it extra special. We will Definately be back.

We came for my birthday having wanted to visit for a number years. It’s location is unusual being positioned within the ground floor of a Residential block, however, that shouldn’t affect people wanting to go, as the food was delicious and it’s something different from a more typical Indian Curry House. I have never tried cuisine from Bali/Indonesia before and we highly recommend this restaurant, with its long history in Brighton&Hove. The service was personal & attentive & we were made to feel very welcome. Definitely recommend.

Had a dinner at this restaurant during my visit to Brighton in the spring. This family run restaurant has been in the area for more than 30 years. Met Mr TJ the owner, a gentleman originally from Kuala Lumpur. The most astounding meal I had was the satay, prawn sambal, beef rendang and mix vegetables soup. A great place to taste Malaysian Indonesian dishes.

The food here is amazing- a real feast for your tastebuds. I couldn’t decide between 2 main courses so asked for advice and ordered the Kachang kuda which was extraordinary and exactly to my taste. The food is also very reasonably priced. The staff clearly know the food and are so friendly and helpful it made for a fantastic evening with friends. We all said that we will definitely be back - Elvis or karaoke…not sure which yet!

The food was absolutely delicious. Had the dumpling starter and sambal udang main - a generous healing of prawns packed with flavour. The chicken, fish and vegetarian mains ordered by my friends also did not disappoint. The atmosphere is relaxed and has a cool retro vibe. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming. Will be returning and would definitely recommend.

Amazing food, especially the spicy prawns. We were a large party served with the set 3 course menu. Soup, starter and buffet. Lovely.

What a wonderful hidden gem. The food and hospitality are first class. We went on a Tuesday evening when a most amazing value menu is on offer. I had the chicken satay and beef rendang - my daughter and her partner chose vegan options - all good. Drinks list good too. A must visit!! Look forward to returning when back in Brighton.

A hidden gem, the food is 100% on point. Real authentic Malaysian food. Super delishes. Epic in house made Sambal. A must place to visit. Sevice was great. And the owners a beautiful to chat with. 3 of us ate, 1st time so we decided to have 1-2 items of the whole menu dived between 3, bill came to £40 each including to beers each. 3 was enough foid to easily feed 5. Faultless from start to finish. Already booked to go back again.

Great evening' buffet with live music from Suspiciously Elvis. First (soup) and second (satay) courses served to the table, then help yourself to the constantly refreshed selection of delicious dishes from the main menu.

They all really try very hard to look after you & do an amazing job!

A literal hidden gem, tucked back into the fold, yet right off the ocean front. It's so unassuming, yet the flavors are authentic and rich. They have a nice selection of Balinese and Malay food as well which totally compliment each other. Order the appetizer platter to start and you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely excellent. Food was delicious, not greasy just beautifully flavoured. The staff were really friendly & attentive. A really fab & fun restaurant & bar, not an over the top, all the same, fussy place as they all are now. Can't wait to go back. A real GEM found!

I visited The Bali in Brighton over the Christmas break 2023 . I was very impressed with the welcome and was pleased to see a party of Indonesians already present . We ordered a variety of starters as we had a vegen present . This course was as authentic as possible . The next , our main course was again really authentic , and as close to being in Penang . I cannot recommend this uniquely situated restaurant more highly . What a wonderful experience in Brighton . We have already decided to eat here again next year . 10 /10 for effort ! xxx

Friday 22nd December. Decided to book for a family get together with son and his wife as unable to meet up on Christmas Day. Husband booked a table for 4 online then phone to make the deposit as instructed due to it being a December booking; was told by whoever answered the phone that a deposit was not necessary. Turned up at 1pm only to find the restaurant in darkness and doors locked. Another couple were also trying to get into the restaurant as they too had booked a table for lunch. Rang the restaurant only to hear the phone ringing inside but no one answered. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED. INCREDIBLY EMBARRASSED in front of son and daughter-in-law. NO explanation as to why the restaurant was shut. Our Christmas get-together has been ruined by the thoughtless action of the owner or manager. Would NOT recommend and WILL NOT return. Very poor. Understand if there was staff shortage due to illness/COVID but no note on door or email to explain why they were closed or to cancel the booking.

Dear staff of Bali Brasserie, I would like to send a huge thank you to all the staff here for their hard work and phenomenal service. Came here for a staff night out last night. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and were told about the delicious meal that we would be recieving. First came the soup with the prawn crackers. The soup was the best soup I have ever tasted. It had the right amount of heat and the seasoning was absolutely spot on. It came with absolutely incredible tasting prawn crackers with a very tasty purée. Next came our chicken skewers and the taste was out of this world. I’m still mind blown now by how extraordinary this chicken was. Our third course of the night was an amazing buffet where you could help yourself to as much rice, prawns, chicken curry, chickpeas, stir fry etc. This was an incredible buffet. The service was excellent throughout the night so I would like to say a huge thank you to all the lovely staff. I would also like to give a huge shout out to Jason Lee the entertainer who was absolutely phenomenal. He has an excellent singing voice and is clearly very good at his job. He got everyone dancing and having a great time. He is funny too! Also a thank you to Jason for playing Dancing Queen by ABBA!! So if you are planning a night out, go to Bali Brasserie. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much again ❤️

This was booked by someone I work with as it was our Christmas staff party… The service was very good and the singer was quite good. The food was average and nothing to get excited about,there was only six dishes to choose from. Pretty poor really… I definitely wouldn’t rush back…

Perfect for a large group! We booked for 30 people and we all had the 4 course menu. The food was amazing and the vegeterians in our group were especially happy with the vegan and vegeterian options 😊 The staff were so friendly and we got great service! Last Saturday evening we held my mother-in-laws 80th birthday dinner at the Bali Brasserie, and I could not have chosen a better place to celebrate! From the moment of making the reservation, through to the moment we left, the owner and staff were all outstanding - warm and friendly, and extremely helpful and attentive to everyone in our large party. The venue is so pretty, the food was delicious, and all the staff and chefs went out of the way to look after everyone's needs, including separate food for the young children who couldn't eat the buffet. They even surprised us with lots of beautiful balloons to celebrate the occasion! I could not recommend this resturaunt more highly, and will definitely be going back. A beautiful bar with live music on Thursdays and the best karaoke on Sunday nights. The service is wonderful and the Indonesian menu is stunning. Music on Thursdays is Elvis/crooners. The karaoke on Sundays has an incredible mix of ages, genres, talent and everyone receives a hero's welcome. Highly recommended!

We have eaten Indonesian food for over 45 years and Bali Brasserie provided some of the best we have ever had, with fabulous satay sauce, great gado gado and other tasty dishes. Staff were helpful in cooking food to our personal preferences, which was spicy. Plenty of space and pleasant surroundings. Thoroughly recommended.

Have eaten here many times now, as part of a private group booking, eating from the buffet. Always very tasty.

It's an odd one, somewhat hidden under building. The service is super friendly, the food is ok. But the reason for going is the amazing karaoke on Sunday nights which attract a good, fun, crowd.

Not our first visit but unfortunately our last. Food was too spicy especially my wifes nasi goreng , sunday obviously not a good day to eat as karaoke seemed priority so service was slow and not at all attentive. The waiter clering the plates didnt ask if it was all right but would we like takeaway , I explained why it wasnt eaten and all he could say was sorry!
