My husband walked to Truro football club to visit the mobile bread van last Sunday. Loads of bread available & bread flour also! Well managed, good queuing system, friendly staff. The bread, as always, was delicious. Today I’ve finished off the last loaf with toast in bed & lashings of butter!

Takes me 30 in to drive to B.Tom but always worth it. The endless toast for £2.00 is a must but this time we went for the Christmas lunch. Whow has to be better than Mum would Make. Delicious turkey, 4 types of veg, 5 roasties , y.pud, three pigs in blankets and a large gravy boat of yummy gravy. What not to love.

Family who live here recommended this place as can’t miss it! Not sure why really ? It was busy and looked initially great . However the cracks soon appeared- ordered a bap with bacon and halloumi, from the menu and the waitress didn’t know what halloumi was? They obviously don’t know how to cook it either as what arrived was literally the smallest ( I said when my roll arrived , sorry I ordered halloumi also to which after looking hard I saw it !) most anaemic looking bit of limp cheese Iv ever seen . Along with some cold, fatty, grey bacon and surrounded by a dry, inedible “ brioche “ bun, it was the saddest breakfast Iv had in a long while! Husband has the baby breakfast which was literally nothing more than average and to which he said “ glad I didn’t order the bigger one as at least this is cheap”. Toast was nice thank god, so I ate this and left wishing I’d had a burger van bap. Didn’t make a complaint at the time as the staff were working hard and it was only pennies at the end of the day . My uneaten bap will say it all when the clear up I’m sure .

My 1st visit to Barker Tom's Cafe at Redruth for breakfast with my friend. The staff were busy baking fresh bread, cakes and serving customers in a very friendly atmosphere and spotless clean. The Bacon and Egg sandwich was delightful (Back Bacon x2) with a love cooked fried egg which when cut allowed the york to run. Really tasty with no fat/oil so even better. The fresh bread was to die for, really tasty and worth buying a loaf to bring home. Sure will visit again.

I have given this cafe 5 stars previously but today i was very disappointed. The cafe was absolutely freezin (had to eat with my coat on) and looked in need of a clean. My table was sticky and grubby, the sauce bottle was disgusting. The bacon was inedible, all fat,and the sausage tasted ok but looked pale and unappetising. My last comment i suppose is more of a question...why have a toaster that doesn’t toast? My money will be spent elsewhere

Is Baker Tom just trading on his reputation now? We stopped in yesterday for lunch and won't make that mistake again. My partner ordered the BLT which came without the tomato! I had the full english which was a mixed bag of dissapointments, over cooked sausage, hard tomato, two hard fried eggs and weird mushrooms. The staff don't seem to have much pride in their work. You can get this quality of food in most greasy spoons. If you want to experience how good a well run bakery cafe can be then visit De Barra over on the Roseland or head to Newquay for the Pavillion Bakery. Both are great cafes with delicious food and bread that Baker Tom could only dream of making.

You can make your own toast . We had for lunch the hearty beef stew stacked with winter vegetables and topped with a cheese scone. Really tasty, filling and excellent value at less than £7. My friend and our 2 children went here for breakfast and we were very surprised. The food was lovely and plentiful. The cafe area was very clean and all the staff were very friendly. The only thing I would say is that they don't have high chairs. It isn't the largest of cafes so I can see why they don't have them but they could do with a few of them as it did make eating a bit tricky as our little ones kept sliding off the seats. I will definitely recommend Baker Toms to my friends but as most of them have young children they may be put off due to the lack of high chairs. I'm sure my friend and I will return.

Every month or sometimes more often I pop in with my brother who is a happy local town councillor. We usually arrive in the morning and have a full large breakfast and all you can make and eat toast which by the way never change. The breakfast is top quality and you can taste it is all local not bookers or Tescos. I help restaurants locally improve numbers and quality and make them over also. On this case instead of saying this is not good enough I will explain and also offer a solution for free. Although the food and staff are great when you come in its confusing what is on and what is off today and also left. There's a board on the wall and bits of POS but I've not seen a table menu. Or been ever handed one. Maybe you should have a Baker Toms app. Also for Customers to see before arriving of what's on specials today or even a group text to all. Build also a good client database and reward loyalty. Also the app would be great for ordering for B2B. You have one till at the moment I believe but a few iPad tills and freedom for staff to mingle with customers more is also great for both business and customers. Other ideas to help also but don't get much time sadly as own business takes up a lot of time. Hope to see you all again soon and keep up the great atmosphere, smiles and delectable food.

Baker Tom is in the middle of a business park so is very popular with the businesses around the area as they do a take out service for sandwiches etc. They make to order so you can wait while they do it and take your goodies off to the beach. There is also a seating area, it is not the biggest place so does get full up very quickly. The staff are always friendly and the breakfast is lovely there, with extra toast if you can fit it in. There is a variety of breads and bread products that you can buy to take home too. Unfortunately there is only a small car-park so you can find you have to wait for a space. The kitchen is totally open so you see everything being prepared and they must have the poshest toilet in Cornwall.

After months of friends raving about the place we decided to try it for lunch. What an eye opener! It was very busy, which we took to be a good sign but the staff were stressed and rushed you through as quickly as they could. There was minimal interaction and no conversation, nor did they take my son's indecision about what to have well. The pastys were greasy and very small for the money. THe sandwiches looked great in the display counter but what I had was not anywhere near as good. My son's sausage rolls were hard and the sausage inside tasted strange. We will not be going back as the quality food was not good enough to compensate for the poor service.

If this was larger and quieter, it would an introvert's paradise, with its endless array of sumptuous freshly baked bread and awesome soup, not to mention the rest of the menu. From a corner, you can watch the bakers at work, and take your time, maybe pen a novel or two. If only everybody wasn't there as well, chattering away, it would be perfect. Baker Tom's restaurant/snack bar and supplier of Artisan Bread. I was brought up in a bakery and the smell of fresh bread always gets my juices flowing. In this unusual setting you find a fabulous range of freshly made bread and Breakfast and Lunch menus for those who want a little bit of unusual substance to their food. A full range of Tea, Coffee and soft drinks is also available. There is nothing over the top about Baker Tom's but when you have experienced a breakfast, a lunchtime Fucaccia BLT or even just a bowl of soup and a roll, you will, I am sure appreciate the ambience.Alternatively you can just Take it Away.

Called in today for the first time for a pasty to take away, it was busy and the staff were rushing around a bit.My pasty was not the best I have ever had but cake and bread looked good.Easy free parking and handy to pull in.

The Pool cafe, situated within an industrial estate, (don’t let this put you off) is a busy wee place with lovely staff who tend to stay for the long duration. Unlike many places in the hospitality industry, staff turnover is minimally healthy. Always a good sign! There is a terrific, informal, friendly vibe here always. Simple, very reasonably priced, homemade food, cakes, bread, condiments & other culinary delights, using locally sourced produce. I love visiting Baker Toms at any time of day. One of my favourites after an early morning Pilates class is to arrive at 9am for breakfast. Try the eggy bread with bacon & maple syrup. . . Whoop, whoop! or a bacon & sausage brioche roll . . . divine! No indigestion whatsoever! The almond croissants are packed with non-chemically enhanced marzipan. Breads of every description & to suit a myriad of tastes are always available. Had Homity pie (WOW!) for lunch on Thursday, served with simple rocket, cucumber & tomato drizzled with Balsamic. Most satisfactory indeed! Quality coffee & tea served here always with a smile. .

What a great place! We called in as we passed and were delighted with the food. Hearty and wholesome. Simple but delicious. Things like homemade quiche and salad, hommity pie (delicious!) baked potatoes, soup and roll etc. The portion sizes were great and the food freshly cooked. The dining area is simple and adds to the charm the staff were really courteous and friendly. It seemed very popular. Try it if you're in the area you won't be disappointed.

Working locally I visit Baker Tom's fairly often, most of the staff are miserable as sin and couldn't be less helpful if they tried. I only go now for the bacon roll in the morning, not worth the hassle of dealing with miserable, rude and useless staff. Pasties are not great. Squashed and not a good example of a Cornish Pasty and way overpriced.

Great find for early morning coffee and a bacon sandwich. Bought bread for later too (cinnamon and raisin bread particularly good!) We are sure to become regulars whenever we are in Cornwall!

Was taken here by my daughter and was well impressed. Bacon roll and a coffee. The bread is lovely and the bacon cooked just right. You can watch the bakers in action and the service is very friendly. A very busy place with lots of local workers coming and going. There is a lunch menu and you can buy bits and pieces related to the bakery. Clean toilets and plenty of parking outside. All in all a good place for decent food and at a good price.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.

The staff were friendly, the service was prompt, the food was good. It's about as good as you could hope for from a family friendly restaurant at the price that it is.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.
