I came in Baileys of Alnwick for lunch, as I saw some pics taken by a Indian Chef posted in Google map (Looked tempting). I and my friend wanted to try jacket and toastie, As i heard a lot about this place from locals. I was really disappointed by a bald man with glasses who was really racist with costumers and even with his own staffs, I was waiting in line just to order food and all I hear is comments and doesn't knows to take orders at all, Slow service by him. Never coming in to this racist behaviour environment restaurant ever again.

. . . a trip down memory lane as we first visited with children in pushchairs, now adults. A last visit as moving; I enjoyed a fresh fruit scone and pot of earl grey tea. The staff were clearing after a busy day but still had time for me, my memories and were lovely. Politeness, patience, tolerance and gratitude go a long way . . . front door shut as they were closing, they were happy for me to relax and enjoy

After ordering a coffee and a muffin this morning, I quickly realised how unclean and dirty this cafe was. Cobwebs and dust surrounded the cafe, along with clumps of dog hair. As a dog owner myself, I appreciate dog friendly cafes but this was just unsanitary. The teapot and the saucer I was served were dirty and did not look like they had been cleaned in the first place. I never write reviews but felt it was important to share my experience. To be avoided..

Awful place. It smelt of deep fried food and old oil. The tomato soup was awful, no seasoning and was like Passats sauce. . The coffee was incredibly weak and the cake super dry. The s one was microwaved so it was incredibly soggy. The girl serving was polite hence the score.

I’m afraid I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get that far. Dripping wet from walking through a downpour to find somewhere for brunch, I popped in to see if there was room for 3 adults & 2 children. It wasn’t overly busy but 1 empty table was reserved, another empty table only seated 3 so I asked a man who worked there whether he thought they would have a table available soon. He couldn’t have been more rude - he snapped “No” & carried on walking by. My daughter & myself were shocked by his attitude & we quickly left. Luckily we found a lovely place which was not only accommodating but very friendly & helpful & we were finally able to dry off & have a delicious meal.

The breakfast was reasonably priced for what we got . The bacon was over cooked as was the black pudding , toast was cheap nasty white bread over toasted too. Tomato fresh but under fried , sausage ok but poor quality . The toilets were so bad , in need of a repaint , no front on the paper towel dispenser, skirting and floor disgusting as was the cafe floor . I felt it was so dirty I gagged while in it . Door was broken and kept swinging open nearly hitting the table in front . Very busy hard working polite staff but venue just needs a lick of paint and a scrub . I come here for breakfasts on my days off and it’s been a stalwart of the Alnwick cafe scene for at least a decade now. Their soups are always delicious and they offer a large range of breakfast items. You get a lot of food for your money and they also have a good range of hot and cold drinks. The staff are really lovely and it’s clear that there is a sense of community here as the staff often know people by name. That is so rare these days. A gem.

After being concerned that we would be too late to find somewhere for lunch, we were lucky to find this place. We sat in an ideal airey, dog friendly area with our 2 dogs & ordered filter coffee, cappuccino & a pot of tea with ham, cheese & pickle, coronation chicken sandwiches & scones with cream, jam & butter. Everything was plentiful, tasty & fresh. There were all day breakfast options, a cabinet of several ice creams for cornets or tubs & a variety of sandwiches & jacket potatoes to choose from. The sandwiches on soft brown or white bread came with crisps, salad & creamy coleslaw. The two gentlemen who served us were welcoming, friendly & accomodating & even provided a bowl of water & biscuits for our dogs! Service was quick, food was good, staff were pleasant & its a great little spot to watch the world go by!

Terrible terrible social distancing for customers and staff. No dividers anywhere and keeping toilets closed for safety is a joke to be fair. You could not walk between the tables that’s how close it was. When full they put the sign up to say closed yet people still kept coming in and walking around for a table. Guys you are not doing enough cleaning either chairs need wiping as well if you can’t keep up then shut you are not helping the situation. Salt and pepper pots in use really! This was about the only place in Alnwick with a table for 4 available. We all ordered snacks in a very smoked filled room, it was really depressing, not well ventilated at all and very smokey, however, we were hungry so stayed and stuck it out! The bacon sandwiches were ok, the scone was actually lovely and the pasta and cheese sauce was horrendous and not cooked, hence we left a full plate. No one asked if all was ok so we left without commenting. The staff were actually quite friendly but I didn’t want to make a fuss in front of the family, they’re anything for an easy life! They had a good range of ice creams available and I can only hope that they open the windows in the warmer weather. Overall, the atmosphere and surroundings were rubbish but the scone was delicious,

I had a Jacket potato which wasn’t too far behind , cheese wasn’t melted , Jacket was stone cold and again the coleslaw salad and crisps disgusting. Took a disabled women for her lunch and Tea and had to use the side door for wheelchair access to which the whole corridor was blocked with boxes and other stuff, why have wheelchair access if this isn’t even clear? We went to this cafe to have a some nice tea and cake. When the tea came to the table the mugs were absolutely disgusting there were all cracked with stains inside of the cracks (which should've been thrown out for hygiene issues) and stains in the tea mugs as well as the tea pot. Not only the tea mugs/pots looked like it had be uncleaned from the last customer the cutlery looked like it was dirty and hadn't been polished it years! Tip buy new cutlery or give them a few weeks to steep... As well as tea pots, tea mugs and cutlery my glass was given to me which was dirty and unpolished and the server knew they were giving us dirty glasses. Honestly as a waitress myself I would be very embarrassed serving what was served to me. I hope you can take these points as constructive criticism and right at least some of the points for your future customers!

Wanted a light breakfast and this appeared to be a good choice as it was one of the busier places (must be good). Went in and although busy, no more than a regular city coffee shop mid morning. Ordered a simple breakfast sandwich and was told it would be 25 minutes. Can't complain about that, as I've been told upfront. But... don't have that much time to spare, so ask if a coffee and piece of toast is quick (and they say yes, as I would suspect). 10 minutes go by and our coffee is brought to us. Our toast must be following shortly behind?? Not so. 10 more minutes and I go and politely ask if it's ready. Am told it is up next. What??? It's a piece of toast! I am polite and calm, but barely. Coffee is long gone cold at this point so I ask if I can have it reheated (not even a new coffee, just microwaved if possible). Waitress takes my coffee and does not return. I see her serving new customers ice cream cones. Go back up although there are three people there (and cafe is no longer busy), I am somewhat invisible. Finally get my slightly warmer coffee and toast (and not the mouth watering fresh toast that may have made all the wait worthwhile, but borderline cool toast that looks more like Wonder Bread). No apologies of any sort for my troubles. Saved my venting for this review. Feels good to get off my chest:). Biggest takeaway I can advise them is that they are in desperate need of a more efficient staff training.

Having seen the notice about a wait if busy and because “Food is freshly cooked”, we were prepared. What we weren’t for was the length of the wait and that people who came in after us received their, full English, before us. The couple on the next table received their paninis, within 10 minutes of sitting down. When our wraps arrived, they were rock hard, where they had been baked or grilled, the fried egg was solid, the bacon over cooked and dry. We were so hungry, we had to eat them, rather than send them back and wait again. Our car park ticket would have run out. I think our order had been forgotten and left under the grill. I seldom write bad reviews, but the service and food was dreadful.

We had eaten a large breakfast in the morning, and just wanted a snack in the afternoon so the board outside here advertising a cream tea attracted us, as it was just what we wanted.

Bailey's became one of our favourite places in Alnwick to get our morning coffee fix. They serve a great latte! Over the week we tried their bacon and sausage sandwiches, and their toasted teacake. All were great. Service was always prompt and pleasant.

We had a very tasty meal here which was also very good value. Our dog was welcome in the lower part of the cafe. Would eat here again if visiting Alnwick.

We had a late breakfast / early lunch here. Food and drinks for four cost around £25 . Our dog was welcome in the lower part of the cafe where there are about four tables. There are sort of french windows which were open so you are under cover but we still had to keep out coats on. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait too long. It wasn't the best food I've ever had but I'd happily eat here again. We had no complaints. Thank you.

Summary! Only visited because our usual venue was closed (Wednesday). Difficulty in finding a clean or clear table. People arriving were forced to put dirty dishes on window shelf (Can't imagine what that looked like from outside. Wait for food was over 40 minutes. The soup was scalding hot (over microwaved) and I suffered a burned mouth which turned to blisters later in the afternoon. Will avoid like the plague next time in area.

This place is great, a typically British cafe, with a decent menu, no greasy spoon here. Very friendly staff, a greeting on arrival and a nice good bye when leaving. We had our lunch here which was of good quality at a decent price. Quite a large place on two levels, if your infirm the loos are on the second level which is two or three steps up. Tables cleaned up quickly and staff make sure all is fine.

Had a lovely welcome and although it was busy we enjoyed our lunch. I fact we went back for scones and cakes later in the afternoon. We had soup- delicious- and paninis. It’s quite an unusual cafe with two levels but was clean and pleasantly furnished. The scones and brownie were the nicest we’ve ever had. All very reasonable priced compared to the South East! Would recommend and will call in again on our way back.

Went for food today girlfriend ordered 2 panini's and a teacake, the food came I had my panini nothing wrong with this one but my girlfriend's came wrong she had asked for her bacon with no fat and crispy which we both admit is picky but in a establishment requests are and should be followed as the paying customer would like, hers came full of fat and soggy so she asked if they could change it they were very nice about that. On top of this we didnt get the teacake we had ordered for our little man, we were shown that it hasn't even been ordered! Now this isn't the cooks fault it's who ever was on the till, we did get the teacake eventually and when my partners panini came back it was the complete wrong one so it had to be sen5 back again!

Stopped off for breakfast and found automation had caught up with Morrisons, in the form of an automated ordering system. Finding our way around the screen wasn't quite as easy as big Mac and KFC equivalents but we did manage it, only just. Wanting to pay by cash, however, was even more difficult as the robot doesn't accept anything except credit cards so customer, much against the chagrin, had to use plastic. The breakfasts, when they arrived, was excellent and without doubt value for plastic.

Called in at lunchtime for a couple of drinks. This is the second time but no more. A man, the same on both occasions standing at bar had the foulest loud mouth He was actually talking to the barman and two others Every other word began with "f' He had a dog with him This time he pulled seat out at one of the tables for his dog to sit at Absolutely disgusting. My husband mentioned to barman who grinned and apologised Not good enough

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

Asked for two teas with extra teabag and was informed the charge would be £2.60 extra. Discussed with my husband and decided to have coffee instead. Went back to the ordering area but had to wait while the two members of staff were discussing overtime hours with another member of staff. After going back to the table my husband who had an ‘americano’ needed more cold milk. Once again went to ask for some but must wait while one assistant was showing the other how to fill a serviette dispenser. Poor service and TEABAGS AT £2.60 EACH - Shame on you MARKS AND SPENCER.
