Babbity Bowster in Glasgow City

Another great afternoon at Babbity's. Service is always great, staff are always on the ball and really friendly. Food choices are good and everything me or friends have had is always tasty and well cooked. It's my go to bar in the city, great ambience, lovely food, reasonable price and great staff and service. Well done BB!

Arrived Saturday pm and although bar was heaving (busy) we got checked in immediately and shown our room. Room was spacious and very comfortable only down side are the stairs, especially if you have mobility problems, 3 flights. After an evening stroll we decides to get some food, however being Saturday night there were no tables/seats available. The staff were absolutely brilliant as they offered to bring our food and drinks up to our room. We couldn't have asked for more. The continental breakfast is delicious and lots of choice. The full Scottish breakfast, although an additional cost, is definitely worth the money.

A nice place for a wee meal and a drink. Convivial and good service. No live music on this occasion, but they do have trad sessions once or twice a week and other one-off presentations.

Tucked away just off the High Street in Glasgow City Centre is this pub / restaurant with some rooms. 8 of us met up for lunch in the upstairs dining room. Quite a few steps to get to the dining room and the gentleman's toilet is in the basement. It's not ideal if you have limited mobility. Really friendly helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A terrific menu with prices similar to what you would expect for food in the location. A good selection of drinks. Everything was lovely and we all enjoyed our meals.

Other than being unusually quiet on a Sunday evening during Celtic Connections, the food and service were both top notch. My group ordered fish and chips, steak pie, a burger, a cajun chicken sandwich and a Thai vegetarian curry. Desserts were Auchentoshan Parfait and Sticky Toffee Pudding. A house soup and Cullen Skink were also ordered. All of the food was duly scoffed with clean plates returned to the kitchen. Scrumptious and filling food. Cheery, welcoming service. Nothing was too much trouble. People do make Glasgow!!! 10/10 and looking forward to our next visit.

This was our second year having our Christmas night out at Babbities. Memorable occasion again. Food, drink, and service couldn't be faulted. Will definitely return 👍

Felt like home in Glasgow even though I was only here for <24 hrs. Check in at the bar was easy and the gentleman helped me park in the teeny lot and carried my bag up a few flights of narrow stairs to the floor with the rooms. Room was perfect for one! Just the right amount of amenities and appointments. I skipped the included breakfast here because I wanted to check out other spots in Glasgow and that seemed to cause confusion with the staff 😂. Would easily stay again. Super nice folks and good location!

I really enjoyed my stay at Babbitt Bowster, the staff were really friendly and helpful and the room was surprisingly quiet given it’s located above a pub (I stayed on a Saturday night too).

Oh my goodness where to start, this beautiful quirky bar/restaurant/comfy hotel is just the best. The atmosphere is brilliant, the owner so welcoming and the staff were amazing. They were so friendly and funny making us feel very relaxed. We arrived early and treated so nicely, had a beautiful lunch, the food is so tasty, brill portions, great choice and most of all served with ease nothing was a bother. Our rooms were perfect so clean and very personal, so so comfortable. I will say, if you get a chance to stay at Babbity Bowster, just do it, we loved everything from the background music to the service from all the staff ........... the location is just perfect for central Glasgow. We recommend Babbity Bowster for sure...........you would not regret it. Thank you for making our stay very special. Fiona

Good traditional Scottish pub. We were in on a Wednesday early evening, there was a fiddle band playing Scottish music, not too loud that you couldn't speak but just a nice volume. The food was excellent, very fresh and tasty, I would particularly recommend the chilli nachos.

Very good local pub/restaurant. Great haggis bon bons and steak pie. If you're looking for well done traditional meals

Great bar and bedrooms, only gripe was the continental breakfast when they obviously have a great chef .

Cracking pub well worth hunting out. Food was superb, Steak pie was amazing. Staff very friendly and good selection of 3 Real Ales on.

Stayed for 1 night at the end of a tour. Room was lovely and quiet considering the pub being busy downstairs. I would only say the room I was in was very dark even with all the lights on. Brighter light bulbs would be good especially in the main light. I ate my evening meal and breakfast in the pub downstairs and the staff were lovely and accommodating. Food was nice typical pub grub. Standard breakfast is continental. Excellent location in the centre and off the main street so there is limited traffic noise.

This is the best pub you can find in Glasgow! The food is amazing and really well priced. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I recommend the cullen skink and Cajun fries, which are both really yummy! Definitely worth a stop in for some traditional Scottish food.

Great pub, although a bit expensive.

A grand wee ale House with a short but well kept set of ales. The pie never ever lets you down. Yet to find a bad bit in one. And the service is always great, especially for a busy bar.

Absolutely incredible. The pub food, the drink selection, but most importantly the live music. This was one of the more enjoyable dinners I've had in a long time.

Very clean, nicely organized, modern room. Very friendly staff that went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy on our adventures. Love the continental breakfast and bloody Mary to start our day.

Kinda expansive but good food with good drinks

We visited Glasgow for the first time, so we were looking for a typical food to eat and we went to this restaurant because it was highly recommended and we loved it. They have excellent food, and the environment is very friendly.

Birthday lunch for 7 adults. Meal & service very good. Very quiet - perhaps because it was a Thursday. Advised it was a busy place at weekends.

A great place to stay a night. Clean, modern rooms with comfy beds. The included continental breakfast with real coffee is nice. Good WiFi, great location. Pub downstairs is good for a drink. Would recommend.

Très bon rapport qualité/prix pour un hôtel avec petit-déjeuner au centre-ville de Glasgow. C’était joli et propre. Il y a même un parking ce qui est vraiment cool quand vous faites un road trip comme nous faisions. Le petit-déjeuner était simple mais bon. L’accueil et le service étaient très agréables.

Cracking beer and very good food

Great find in Merchant City. Comfortable rooms a lively, civilised bar.

We heard the music from the street and stopped for lunch. There was a casual meet up of musicians playing traditional music in the corner, quite enjoyable. The food and atmosphere were good as well. Sat at a table with a couple that were regulars to the pub and said this place was one of their favorites. We ate bangers and mash; fish and chips; and, a steak pie. We agreed the food was a good sampling of traditional Scottish food.

It was recommended by a walking tour guide and it didn’t disappoint! In addition, they have GLUTEN-FREE items on their menu and it’s always a plus when staff members have celiac disease. If given the opportunity I would visit again. Kudos to the attentive staff!

The room was fine, albeit very small, nothing about this place was exceptional. But it wasn't awful by any means. If you're looking for a serviceable room in the city, this is a fine option.

Loved it. Could hardly fault it. Room was a bit small but really wasn't a bother for us as we were there to see a concert. Staff were absolutely fab. They let us check in ealry as our room was available. Another staff member also doted on us at breakfast and gave us a great suggestion of the Kelvin museum. Breakfast, other than fry, was included and absolutely lovely. Fab selection of jams and fruits.

Brilliant example of a local pub worthy of worldwide acclaim. Fiddle group playing as we walked in, great drinks and food. Celebrated our wee Auntie's 93rd birthday. She ate up a plate of Fish and Chips like it was her job!

Nice bar, nice staff, nice interior, great beer garden.

This spot was hoppin during dinner-time, but most people were here for drinking beer, as was the case for many spots in Glasgow. We luckily got a seat here and the food came pretty quickly. The dishes were very fairly priced and mostly everything was on point. We shared crab and prawn linguine which was nice and creamy, a smoked trout pate dish which was yummy and savory, cajun spiced fries which were nicely seasoned, and Cullen skink soup – smoked haddock potato onion soup which was the absolute best in my opinion (DO RECOMMEND!). We finished everything off with some warm and caramelly sticky toffee pudding. Overall, great service and a solid food spot if you're in this part of town.

The place is awesome. Centrally located, great bar, perfect breakfast, clean, warm tidy rooms. Amazing welcoming friendly staff and owner. Highly recommend. Very comfortable and chill vibe. Haven in the middle of a city. Great for a solo female traveller.

A most pleasant inn, we’re friendly staff and locals. A good selection of beers, and very close to High St Rail station. Close to many Restaraunt’s.

Cozy, lovely garden with heat lamps, lots of places to park your bike, and the indoors is just as good. Pints cost roughly a fiver, with the more expensive up to 6ish quid. Lovely fire, only seen it on in winter though, and lovely staff. Food is delicious, especially the Cajun sandwich, and you can upgrade the fries to Cajun fries even though the menu doesn't say. Next to the train station, good to end a night, and right across from McChuils if you fancy a bit of music after.

Not the best meal I've had given the price. Food service was slow and also staff slow to settle bill at the end, that way you think you're cloaked while standing at the bar. Rab Ha's is much better for service and food.

Smashing bar and friendly staff.. bit of a mix up with accomodation as double room but only single room available. Continenatal breakfast plenty of selection.. easy walkin distance to city centre and plenty of bats resturants located close by

And free parking ..If you have mobility issues maybe a problem..3 Flights of stairs to rooms ..

I would have given 5 stars because the food was amazing. The only thing that let it down for me, and this is just me, but it was a little too noisy. Minor issue, but I'm getting old.😊

On the outskirts of the merchant city. Slightly older, more gentile crowd. Felt a bit like a restaurant and the decor is quite sparse. Food is meant to be good but I was just passing. Has a huge outdoor area which will be nice in the summer but missing the energy of some of the surrounding bars

Been a few times lately as I have been visiting Glasgow quite a bit over the past few years on business and visiting family. Great haggis nips and taties, beers and staff.

Some people complain about the noise but to me a lively pub with freindly conversation, the odd fiddle player in the corner, good beer, decent food and cheerful efficient staff makes for a great evening. few Glasgow pubs have good ales but BB had 2 or 3 each of the evenings I went in during my Glasgow trip. Food not gourmet but genuinly decent good value. I had a pie wih loads of meat one day and a genine haggis, neeps and tatties. others of us had burgers and such. Try the Glasgow salad.

My parents and grandparents have always liked this pub. While they have extended the menu so there is a bigger variety of food options I was a bit let down by the Cajun Chicken Sandwich which the chicken seemed a little bit plain. Came with a decent portion of chips and salad though. My mother really enjoyed her smoked haddock pattee and the staff are extremely friendly. May not be to my personal taste but still a good establishment.

Excellent visit yesterday, real ale on cracking form (Kelburn Jaguar), lunch was delicious and the staff are a true delight. If you haven't been then you're missing a wee gem! 😁

It was exceptional and a real highlight of our visit to Glasgow. The choice yesterday and quality of food was excellent - we loved the “insulting” descriptions on the menu. What made it stand out for us was the lovely, helpfully staff - all three of them, but especially the fellow with the “average staff” t- shirt, and also the fast and attentive service. Second course was served after only 40 minutes. I wish we had been years ago

Had a birthday party upstairs and can't fault any aspect. Bar upstairs was well staffed, pints lovely and buffet was great.

Friendly place with all you need for an overnight stay and a decent breakfast in the morning.

On a drizzly Saturday in Glasgow Babbity’s was warm, friendly and cosy. The staff were first rate as was the stunning steak pie.

Great pub with excellent outside space. A small selection of three real ales (ie proper beers!) on tap. Decent food too.

Food was lovely. OK selection of beers. Big roaring fire to sit beside. Waiters were lovely.

Small eatery but warm and welcoming. Decent food and good value for money. Local musicians use this place for practice on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Great atmosphere.

Great prices on everything and great razord

Parada y fonda, literalmente. El sitio perfecto para alojarte una o dos noches en Glasgow. Abajo, un pub familiar y acogedor, con una gente estupenda y un whisky aún mejor. Arriba, habitaciones limpias y con camas muy cómodas. La magia de Glasgow ya si eso la buscas tú, que yo me quedo arriba.

Cosy pub with good range of beers and good quality food. Reasonably priced. Guinness was very drinkable. Friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere for a Sunday evening out. Really enjoyable place.
