Lovely independent cafe with fabulous home made scones and cakes. Excellent coffee and everything served on china crockery. Staff very attentive and friendly. Perfect pitstop when you are shopping in the locality. It's tucked away on Queen Street so you have to look for it but you won't be disappointed.

We visited here today after a walk around Hubbards Hill. What a lovely place it is! The staff were very friendly and the cakes were very good, we went for the lemon drizzle and fat babbit. You could tell how popular it is as the place was busy, along with people popping in for takeaway. We debated to buy some cake to takeaway, but they had already been taken! Will definitely return if in the area 🙂

Just a stroll from the market place, what a find. Small, quaint tea room. Offering sandwiches and a lovely choice of scones (also takeaway). We opted for cheese scones with baked ham and pickle. Tea served in china cups. 40's music playing, was delightful. Took home date and walnut scones which were delicious.

Whether you are a visitor or a regular you receive a very warm welcome. Our fat Babbit was delicious, plenty of fruit and nuts. The coffee was in a cafeterie, and we had one medium roast and one full roast. Both were lovely. Served in china cups and saucers. Marvellous

Fresh, home-baked scones & good coffee in individual cafetières and proper crockery. During Covid rules, there is no physical menu but there are sandwiches made to order too. We frequently visit on market mornings.

Lovely selection of scones and rock cakes as well as the usual fair of coffees and teas. You won't be dissapointed. Check opening times though as I believe they're not open every day.

Went to Louth for lunch whilst we transited north to meet friends and went here to get out of the rain. We had coffee and a cake. Both were fine and the service was great. That said it is not a cafe I would recommend for a quick meal, but if you are relaxed about the time, you'll enjoy the atmosphere. I would go again.

Signs on the main street of Louth advertised this cafe and we thought we'd give it a try. We didn't have much time so we opted for a scone and tea. What could have been simpler? We sat and sat, and eventually someone came for our order. We sat waiting again for our order to arrive and after 20 minutes gave up and walked out. Despite there only being around 4/5 tables in this cafe it was totally unsatisfactory to be ignored in this way. I mean how long does it take to put a scone on a plate and a teabag in a teapot! That was our 1st visit to Babbits and unfortunately will be our last.

Everything is delicious and the only downside is having to choose! It's always very busy and hard to find a seat, but I'm very happy to have a takeaway sandwich, scone and sometimes some chocolate cake too! They're very friendly too.

My sister and I came across Babbits by accident - a very unpretencious little bakery and coffee shop that serves the most delicious coffee and the best scones we have ever eaten. We left after buying plenty of scones to freeze for later and bread - their small tin organic wholemeal loaf is also the best I have had in a long, long time. We both live in York and have the famous Bettys on our doorstep - I wish we had a Babbits!

Stopped by for tea and cake with my daughter, they have a lovely tea called China Rose that is taken black and has absolutely no bitter tast to it at all. We also had a slice of lemon cake that was moist and lemony, just as it should be

We found this cafe by accident and popped in to order some sandwiches to take away. We decided to have a pot of coffee whilst we were waiting. We did not have any food (though the cakes and scones looked very tempting!) but the coffee was excellent and really reasonably priced. The cafe is obviously really popular with local people and there was a cheerful, friendly buzz about the place whilst we were there. It's a little thing, but a good cup of coffee in a friendly atmosphere can really brighten up the day! (the sandwiches were good, too...)

Visited Louth and stopped off at Babbits to purchase some of their Fat Babbits which are excellent. A sort of scone/rock cake combination and taste wonderful. The gentleman was very friendly who served us and the coffee shop was already full just after they opened so very popular.

Called in after reading other reviews. Was sad to be disappointed by several things: the scones were leaden and not especially fresh, and accompanying portions of jam and cream were a bit on the small side. There is no gluten free provision of bread or cakes, which is frustrating. The staff were friendly, but seemed easily overwhelmed by just three covers and then very distracted by a friend calling into the shop to chat.

I asked Suzy (The Owner) to bake me some cakes for my sisters baby shower. She explained to me that she doesn't usually cater for events but as i was a good customer she wanted to help me. So Suzy and her daughter went hard at work baking me all these delicious brownies and scones and cakes for the baby shower. They also made me lots of sandwiches for everyone to eat.

Came across this little place by chance seeking somewhere for a spot of lunch. The sandwiches were freshly made and very tasty. The home made scones delicious and we took away a 'fat rascal' each to eat later. A tiny cafe in a quaint style featuring beautiful vintage china crockery and traditional furniture. Lovely. Would certainly visit again..

My wife and I had lunch here whilst visiting Louth. We had simple but very delicious ham and cheese toasted sandwich and a toasted smoke salmon and cream cheese bagel, with a superb freshly ground Java coffee. Followed by a slice of thick and delightful brownie. However, it was the scones which brought us here as we had heard good things by another guest at hotel we stayed at. We were not disappointed. They are wonderful, so is the lemon drizzle cake and ginger cake which we had to take away too!! To top it all, the lady owner who served us was charming and very informative about the local area. We we defiantly recommend this cafe, and we'll be back again.

Called in here today a Louth market day and trying out places not previously visited. Lovely cafetiere for one at £2.50, they sell a selection of home made scones and rock cakes, as well as Taylors loose leaf tea, and roast and ground coffee beans. Only tiny but well laid out with small wooden tables, nicely presented with china cups & saucers.

Only a few tables so we te earlier than we intended for lunch in case it got full, which it did before we left. We shared a ham and cheese sandwich to leave room for the delicious looing cakes we had seen on display. Our sandwich was served on 2 plates as we had said we would be sharing, which was a good star. The bread was nice nd fresh and the Lincolnshire ham tasty. The ginger cake was good and the fat rascal excellent, better than Bettys in York. Cafitieere of good quality coffee, enough for 3to fill 3 china cups, served with hot milk as we requested. The café is not flash but very clean and nice home made food.

We popped into Babbits for our mid morning "Tea & a bun" it is very small with friendly pleasent staff, seems to specialise in home made cakes & scones and sells a wide variety of coffee beans. Our delicious tea was served in a large china pot and lovely china cups, we do however think that the cakes, scones & sandwiches to eat in were over priced. A scone to take away 80 pence to eat in £2.20, a slice of ginger cake to take away £1.50 to eat in £2.70. The prices to take away look very reasonable but why so expensive to eat in with a pot of tea???For us something not quite right which is a shame.

We stopped for a brew and piece of cake in this quaint little cafe recently. The decor is nice but nothing fancy. There are a lot of delicious looking homemade cakes on display However, the service was very good with really attentive staff (just the three, I think). I had a fat rascal and cafitiere coffee. The coffee was fine but the cake was amazing. It really was delicious, one of the best cakes i've had.Babbits is nothing fancy, but it is a super little place to stop for a cake and cuppa.

It may sound strange but how many cafe/restaurants can make a tasty sandwich? In my experience the bread is often past its' best and the filling meagre or tasteless. At Babbits, the choice is small but again in my experience that is normally a good thing because it means what they make is usually well made and the ingredients fresh. The sandwiches are delicious, fresh bead, fresh fillings and the cakes are exceptional especially the scones. The tea and coffee, again are full of flavour and the service is friendly, efficient and warm.I cannot fault Babbits, and will certainly go back again and again.

Went in a while back for a scone and cup of tea. Not increadibly impressed. Unfortunately (for babbits/chizzlewits)my partner makes better scones and the service was non-existent. I'm hoping that the recent move of babbits into the Chizzlewits tea shop will mean an improvement in the quality of both the products and service.

Caught in a sudden snowstorm we nipped in here for a hot drink and a warm up. I can imagine the eclectic décor not to everyone's taste, a mixture of vivid bright colour and vintage, but we found it rather quirky and fun. Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.
