Baba Kebab House in Thanet

Because the food was so poor I have scored all aspects 1 star. £17 for a mixed doner meat and chips, can of coke and some chilli peppers. Best part was the can of coke. Worst take away delivery I have had for a long time. Overcooked, stale and greasy chips, topped with overcooked, dry and fatty doner meat. Ditched most of it and was up all night with gut ache. Was delivered within 20 mins so obviously not busy. No excuse for it. I’m confident they wouldn’t eat this standard of food themselves so why places like this feel they can serve it to their customers is an insult. Will be swerving this place. Unfortunately this ain’t the only place serving dead quality take away food these days. Shame.

Slight issue today with a lamb Kofte that was so spicy it tasted like Lava and destroyed my mothers taste buds ( but didn’t stop her from talking unfortunately) Staff were great and a new meal arrived within ten minutes so still top kebab shop for me hence 5 stars. Food is always hot with very generous portions.

First time ordering from here and I am amazed I got a chicken kebab and it had lots of salad on top which I love and just the right amount of meat for a small portion there was lots and was very delicious very happy and will order again.

To expensive for what you get and they charge you for sauce on your kebab

Large take away chicken shish.... absolutely lovely. So much chicken and salad too! Lovely flavours and was healthier than a typical takeaway. We will definitely be back!

probably one of the best kababs in margate and maybe even thanet, I'm very fussy when it comes to a lamb donno I find most places to be way to greasy(puddle of grease in bottom of box) and most places now days look like they use even more poor quality meat where it normally looks like the lamb kebab has been cut up so small, but not baba, it's long strands of meat(how it should be) and not to greasy. we have started using them alot recently

Prices gone up yet again, whilst the quality has deteriorated rapidly, definitely not value for money, I'd used them for 20 years but since 2022 they've been on a downward spiral as regards quality and the cooking, last weeks kebab meat was half cooked, inedible and thrown away, won't be returning there again, time to find new kebab house, they've let themselves down badly.

Stopped by for some chips at 10pm on a Saturday. We asked for a large portion (£4) to share, but asked if they could split it between two boxes for us. We were told “we’ll have to charge you for two mediums then” (2 x £3). We told them we’d just share the one large box then. They cooked us up a portion and then put it in the smallest box they had, but charged us for a large. We weren’t demanding or rude, but both felt like the two servers were unfriendly and apathetic. They asked if we wanted salt and vinegar, then, when we said yes please, added the smallest amount that we couldn’t taste it. We were the only customers in the shop at the time so they weren’t busy. Will definitely avoid next time.

This is gonna be my new local. The food was 10 out of 10 and it was hot.

2nd time ordering from here, first time was amazing and really tasty. this time there was salad missing, wrong drinks received and wrong sauces, kebab was also really oily. may be the last time I order due to this, other places are spot on every time. it is a shame as this place has potential to be really good. not acceptable after paying £30

Fantastic meal. Food always arrives hot and tastes great. Might be a little more pricey than other Kebab shops but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

I had four Dominic kebabs delivered to me one with chicken we all sat down to ET it looked really nice once we started to tuck in it was so cold we had to take the salad of and put the meat in the microwave so when I found the gentleman up at the shop to tell him the meat was so cold he said he would send some more I thought that was very nice of him after about an hour I found again now said I wasn't happy with it so could I have my money back he said no if you didn't like it come down here and we're sort it out so he was threatening me I did not go but I would never use them again so be very careful thank you

Lamb and chicken doner was great. So were the chips. Best garlic sauce I've had in a while. Will definitely be ordering again.

Missing garlic dips that were paid for

Very poor care taken to ensure food was enjoyable. Mountains of sauce just dumped in the middle of the dishes. No thought about how that would reflect in the eating of the food. Dishes swamped with sauce, I understand I ordered the sauce but surely no one wants their kebab swimming in sauce. Won’t be ordering from them again. Feel like they have positioned themselves via their prices as a ‘good kebab’ but they were a long way from that. Would far rather have had a high street kebab than that.

Meat was OK But they forgot my salad.Amazing how so much gets forgotten when you have already paid for it 🥴

The jacket potato could of been cooked a bit longer was hard. I have had the jacket potato before and it has always been soft and fluffy but tonight not so good but the rest of the food we had was fantastic as always

The lamb Shish kebab was horrible. They slathered very wet and stale salad on top of the bread and lamb. Everything was soggy, and very untidy. Wouldn’t order from there again

Best kebab I’ve had in a very long time. Food was piping hot and the meal tasted absolutely lovely. Salad was fresh and chips had barely any grease. Finally a kebab shop that sells the chilli sauce separately! Well worth a try. 👍.

Nearly an hour late, the absolute end of the spit, no sauce on order as requested. Restaurant didn't seem to know where the order had gone, Restaurant claimed justeat driver hadn't turned up. JustEat weren't aware of their driver covering the job. Hugely disappointing, won't be using again. Shame as have the best Chilli Sauce in Thanet.

Delivered a Doner with no salad, waste of money was too dry , the burger was ok but had coleslaw in it along with the salad which made it a bit sloppy...

So happy these are back on just eat! Best kebab shop by far!

Last few times ordered mixed kebab, order being no coslaw no lettuce 3 x now turns up with white onion and tomatoes I stated tonight when ordering any shortages was told no cucumber I thought great as I like cabbage and explained then when turned up same onions and tomatoes when I phoned to complain he stated I pay for the meat not the salad leave it with you

Love the kebabs here. its hard to find a good kebab these days but Babas are spot on everytime. Always fresh and not greasy.

If Carslberg did mixed lamb & chicken shish kebabs at 5pm on a Tuesday.. 22 years and still going strong. Hot and fresh if you collect it and eat in.

Can't fault the food BUT as per usual which is now why we refuse to buy from here anymore is the delivery, considering that this is their livelihood and EVERY OTHER eating establishment has delivered our food within 40 minutes we were again left waiting 1hour 30 minutes and still no food delivered that when we phoned them to get the response what did you order again is absolutely disgraceful, when we look back on it is the reason we stopped using this kebab house in the first place but after a year going back to them and this happened, when the food turned up it was what we ordered and that's a first usually parts of the order are missing, fresh tomatoes please what did i get, tomato sauce, steer clear unless your collecting your order

My kebab I had tonight wasn't very nice the meat was like pate didn't teast nice at all I wouldn't even give it to my dog

We have ordered a few times and most of the time is alright but once they forgot the sauces and this last time they just brought the wrong kebab. It took more than an hour to bring the right order and they didn't offer a refund or reduced price, which, in my opinion, they should off...

First visit since Lockdown, and as in the area decided to pop in. £7.80 for a large Kofte Wrap, reasonable value as it contained a lot of meat, and was cooked over charcoal for a good taste. Well wrapped to keep warm, and was offered a good choice of salad and sauce. Fast and friendly service, and they accept credit card payments.

Ordered from here many times and usually very tasty but today they seem to have misunderstood my order placed over the phone and refused to replace the items sent to me with the one I had requested, at least my pets enjoyed the meal but I have to admit I am disappointed by the service. Any issues I had previously were always fixed with good service. perhaps the store has different employees or a different management team.

#Edit Well 2 weeks later and I returned for another chicken doner, sorry to say it was such a disappointment. Nothing like my first one. The meat wasn't even luke warm, yet I put it in an insulated bag for the short drive home. There was no flavour to the chicken, the tomatoes were mushy and the garlic sauce was watery. Such a let down after a long week. Changed to 2 stars, and back to looking for the perfect kebab shop. First time customer, ordered a medium chicken doner, it was lovely! So fresh, not full of gristle like some places, and still hot by the time I got home. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Will definitely be using Baba's from now on, especially as I found out they deliver to my area! Bonus! 5 stars!

We ordered the tray of mixed meat and salad for 2 adult and 2 children. The meat was fresh juciey and cooked to perfection the staff was friendly the shop was clean and the atmosphere was great. 10/10 would highly recommend

I don't eat kebabs often but when I do, it's always Baba. The quality of the meat is always excellent and the salad fresh. I did wonder if I only enjoyed them "under the influence" but I was pleasantly surprised to discover they are just as tasty, sober! I now eat kebabs more often AND even when I've not been down the pub. Thanks Baba!
