Azou in Hammersmith and Fulham

This is a long due review. We were here almost 4 years back and my wife keeps reminding me of the Lamb Tagine. We can't wait to be back. Thank you

This place is fantastic. Delicious food, lovely ambience and great service! My partner is Algerian and I wanted to take him here because of the reviews. He loved the food, a couple of the dishes his Mother would make. We had the Hummus, Bourek, Constantine Tagine and the Chicken Couscous. All the food was delicious!! The tagine however was a standout!

North African food, well known to be exceptional is certainly mastered in Azou's kitchen. From the flavors the textures to the perfect cooking... the experience is unique. The lamb made me blush when I saw how sensually it strips from it's bone. First bite I almost fainted in the prunes. Brilliant service as well, Mohammed is wonderful. Merci pour cette belle experience. J'ai prévu de revenir et espère pouvoir féliciter Chef Azou de vive voix.

Food in this place is definitely 5 stars. They have a cosy and beautiful dining room making you feel like you are in Morocco. But food is definitely 5 stars, thank you Azou

I first visited this restaurant in 2011 having watched Gordon Ramsey's show on finding the Best NorthAfrican Restaurant in the UK. I had a brilliant experience then and after a long gap went back for two visits recently. The service is consistently excellent, the food is top notch! My favourites are the Constantine Tagine with a couscous and the Baba ganoush. Will definitely be coming back more often!

The best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Ordered the Constantine tajine which can’t actually be put into words how amazing this was. I can’t actually stop thinking about it and need to get back to Azou asap

One can’t never be disappointed by this restaurant. It has great atmosphere, wonderful cuisines, very helpful and friendly crew and reasonable price. We started with appetizers including falafels/salad plate, calamari fries and the baba ganoush. The texture of baba ganoush was so good with the flat pitta. We ordered a king prawn tajine and a lamb couscous as our main dishes. The chewy king prawns were very fresh and well-seasoned. You could even taste the sea in your mouth! The lamb was also cooked well with a tender texture and wonderful flavor. It was also served with a broth. Loved the two mains! Dessert was a bit too sweet for me but all of my friends loved it. Classic mint tea was a great choice in the cold weather. Will definitely visit again.

Excellent, authentic North African food in a relaxing setting.

Great authentic food, unfortunately we were sat next to a loud table and were unable to hear each other, otherwise great food.

Excellent experience. The restaurant was full and we were worried that the food would take a long time to arrive but service was spot on. Didn’t wait at all. Food was extremely tasty and plentiful. We will defo be coming back!

Food is excellent however the billing is antiquated. It took us 20 mins to calculate each persons contribution as it was written in notes next to a menu.

I've eaten good North African food in Paris and Los Angeles in the past, but this was the best. All 3 enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommended.

Delicious revisited North African/Mediterranean traditional food

The Azou is a North-African restaurant with a full menu including a range of tagine dishes: chicken to lamb, seafood, and vegetarian choices. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us select the side dishes. I chose the traditional lamb with prunes, apricots, almonds, and walnuts. The sweetness of the sauce perfectly complemented the tender piece of lamb. There is a wide range of desserts: Baked nut cake, lemon sorbet, vanilla ice cream, and authentic coffee variations. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We highly recommend it.

Throughly enjoyed our first experience at Azou. The food was excellent as was the service. The pastilla was superb as were the main courses. Will be happy to visit the restaurant again.

Discovered Azou on, what is now, an old Gordon Ramsay episode featuring the best of North African cuisine. How delighted we were to see Chef Chris is still in the kitchen and serving up his wonderful dishes. A great night out in Hammersmith and we’ll worth a visit. Thank you to all and very well done!

Incorrectly advertised opening times. I arrived at 10:20pm on a Tuesday and the restaurant was closed, despite supposedly being open until 11:00pm. Ruined my plans and wasted my time.

Food was absolutely delicious, large portions of well cooked, well presented, well served goodness. Cannot fault the service, the attention we were given and the food which was amongst the best I've ever eaten.

Despite I’m not in a position to claim it is a very authentic restaurant as I’m not Moroccan, I have a very strong feeling it actually is! The lamb tajine with prunes is divine and so is the couscous! Very kind service and nice atmosphere. New fav in the neighbourhood!

Five stars isn't enough, it would get 10 if it were down to me. Everything about this amazing restaurant is truly outstanding. We come all the way from East London to go here, it's that good!

Visited for a birthday. Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff. The food was incredible, I had the Tajine el ain and it was so so good. Will be back and will definitely be recommending Azou to anyone willing to listen!

Very authentic experience. Service was nice and personal, very accommodating. The tagines are really special, we were also treated to some homemade chilli sauce that was so good we bought extra to take home! Would go again.

We came here after our usual North African by as unt closed down! It is a delightful place and the food is excellent - we were under the supervision of front of house manager Muhammad Kubi (an Algerian gentleman - delightful) Wecwill certainly return with more family members! Alhumdu-Lilah.

Ordered the Cuscus lamb. Came very very quickly, very hot, very tasty and delicious. Staff are very friendly and classy.

These guys told me they do middle Eastern cuisine. I would’ve believed them if i hadn’t seen the 17 Vietnamese children cooking and cleaning in the back

My friend was promised the experience of his life. He did not expect to be slapped around the face with a salmon (he wouldn’t have minded if it was at least seasoned). My girlfriend also said the waitress was “eye humping” her all evening. The least he could have done was take here home. Had to pay for her and put up with her s**t all night. Loved the naan.

Restaurant cancelled reservation on the night due to double booking without telling us. Multiple attempts to rearrange via email completely ignored - spend your money elsewhere with better service

Good atmosphere and service here, slightly let down by the food which was reasonable but for the price tag (£20 mains) not that special.

If you're North African i recommend not to go here! It doesn't taste anything like traditional North African food. I was very let down having tried both the Chicken Couscous and Lamb Tagine. All the dishes lacked so much flavour, this place is more so catered towards non-North African people so if you want authentic go elsewhere!

Absolutely awesome Moroccan food...

A delightful evening, really good food and wine. Definitely recommended for a romantic dinner for two, with it's atmospheric Moroccan décor.

Wonderful restaurant, authentic Algerian cuisine and very friendly managers. Tagline and Royal cous cous was chock full of generous portions of chicken and lamb.

You walk in and the waiting staff are incredibly attentive and friendly. We were sat down after a big party of 12 had gotten there, but the staff prioritised us first as 2 people, so we wouldn't be waiting for their long orders to come out: just one of those nice little things to notice! The food is absolutely incredible, but also quick to come out! Would 100% recommend, and would love to come back to try more things.

North African cuisine so good your mother in-law will love it and so will your wedding guests! I accidently discovered this little gem while on a stroll in Chiswick in 2006 and the food, amazing staff and the wonderful cheeky chap that runs the place,Chris, have always made it a worthwhile evening. As a Native North African, it was always hard to find restaurant food that comes close to home cooked cuisine from back home; Azou with it's cozy ambiance serves up dishes with the love of a homecooked meal coupled with the refined delicate flavours of a Michelin star restaurant. I have always enjoyed every meal at Azou, I even took my Mrs on a date there and she liked it so much she took her mom (a North African lady who refuses to eat anything from outside) and she loved it so much we ended up having our wedding dinner here. The food was great (as always) but beyond feeding the hungry guests, we want to thank Chris and his team for helping create one of our most cherished memories. We will be back as always.

Fantastic service and the food is amazing. We. Spent this much just bc we ordered a lot, but you can go there and spend £20_30 pp and be full. Everything was delicious, especially the starters. Def recommended

A birthday dinner for 4 of us. It was absolutely wonderful. The service was excellent the chef came out and chatted to us and the hospitality was second to none. We felt really welcome. The food was so delicious. We were recommended to have rice with some dishes , bread with others and it was just right. The decor is very North African, really beautiful and all very comfortable. We had a great evening!

This place is very authentic and welcoming. The starters stole the show. The main course was good as well. If you are not someone who enjoys eating spicy I would be careful. Also the portions were too big for my liking. Other than that this is a great place.

One of the bad experience in my life, it’s not Moroccan food. And stuff are rude. Differently the chef are not Moroccan.

Best Moroccan and North African restaurant in London I have tried so far. Totally recommend. Don't miss the Chicken Bastilla, it's very crispy and full of flavours and juicy the way it should be, perfect.

It was dark and warm when we entered. The stickers on the front of the shop does no justice for the place. More lights are needed as it dull. Victoria the waitress failed to watch customers. We asked for mint three times and she still forgot. There was only three customers so it should not have been difficult. Not great service. The food was a disappointment and over cooked you could taste the burnt parts of the food. The second portion came it was like it had been frozen and put in the microwave. The chicken was not tender and not tasty. I have had the dish before this was not pleasant atall very dry It was really annoying as with paid £33 for two staters a bottle water and a pot of mint tea. Over priced and quality of food was not great. I would not go agian.

Definitely recommend this place. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is calm, the decor is lovely, the staff are welcoming and the service is fantastic. The prawn tajine and chakchouka are amazing.

Food was great the lamb Tangine full of flavour , calamari nice and crispy , bread was brillant ,service was frustrating class ,I am very looking foward to be coming back.

Very good Moroccan restaurant. The tajine was delicious. For the couscous royal, the lamb and the veggies were very good, the chicken unfortunately a bit dry and the broth was missing salt and spice - the harissa helped a bit.

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful North African restaurant in Hammersmith. I always get the tajine el ain - such tender and delicious lamb shank cooked with prunes, apricots and walnuts. Yum yum!

I strongly recommend it, a sure value, the best Algerian restaurant in London for its service, its warm and friendly welcome!! without forgetting of course the taste of the food which is just divine whatever you order everything is a pure delight and so delicious.

I used to come to this amazing restaurant back in the day when I was living in London. My wife and I came for a visit to UK from the States and I wanted her to try some Algerian food and again, this restaurant didn't disappoint! Service was outstanding. They make sure that every table is taken good care of and they're very friendly. Food wise, now let me tell you something, literally everything on the menu is delicious! I'm originally from Algeria so I know Algerian food. We both loved it so much that we made another reservation for the day before we fly back to California. You really can't go wrong with pretty much anything on the menu but I would highly recommend the Brick, the Bourek, the sardines, The couscous Royale and the Tagine Zitoune (with Olives). Oh and their desserts are also delicious, go for the ktayef. Can't wait to go back again in a couple of days.

DO NOT HESITATE… EAT HERE! My husband is Algerian and has raved about this restaurant for years since he lived in London. After 5 years (& a pandemic) we made our way to London from California and he made sure we checked out Azou. The food here is incredible, the ambiance is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. My recommendations: Start with the sardines, brik, bourek, and the bastilla (the combination of the meat and the sweetness of the cinnamon is such a wonderful taste) Entree: Tajine zitoune (I love olives) and couscous royale (merguez, the lamb sausages are my absolute fav)

Went for a last minute trip to London and saw great reviews for this spot. They didn't let us down! Can't wait to come back and get more. Take tips from the staff, they have an incredible menu and know what matches. Great customer service, the chef even came to say hello. Highly recommended

The food is the star of this restaurant. They have a wide range of options to choose from but the common denominator is they all burst with flavors. The chef himself looks after the guests, recommends food and tries to make sure everything's going smooth. The music and decor deserves a shoutout too.

We just walked in off the street without a reservation and boy are we pleased we did! We were made to feel extremely welcome and the food, oh what a delight! If we ever get to this area of London again - we would certainly give this another visit! Highly recommended.

Atmosphere is nice and cosy. I really loved the arabic music playing in the background. Food wasn't that great. I tried a chicken dish, and I wasn't that impressed.

The food was perfect, so flavourful and soft but what made this restaurant great, was the service. Wonderful chef and wonderful decor - we would highly recommend!

This restaurant is wholly Algerian, nothing to do with Moroccan food at all. looks the same maybe but completely taste different. Ask Chef Gordon Ramsey

The quality of food is great and the food is tasty if you like North African food

Everything is good here, food service etc. But I was expectic a bit more friendliness when coming to a maroccan / North African restaurant. Staff was great but could be just a bit more engaging, welcoming. It's quite an expensive restaurant so they could offer say a dessert for free or some free tea before you are served.

Amazing restraurant and amazing chef. Everyone is very passionate and gives attention to details. From how perfectly the dishes were cooked to how warm the service was, this definitely ranks as one of my most enjoyable culinary experiences.
