Came for lunch but didn't order. £14 for a sandwich with a doorstop of bread but little filling. Have to order at the till. Had to clear our table ourselves. Erratic service. This is a glorified prefab in a park. I can get a beautifully presented and delicious savdwich at the famous George Hotel in Stamford for less, where I order and am served wherever I am sitting, by a uniformed and well trained waiter. Have a wander round Ayscoughfee gardens but avoid the cafe and a fleecing

Been coming to Ayscoughfee for a long time but after our experience on Friday 9/8/24 we are debating whether we will be going again. It was a hot day so we decided to go to Ayscoughfee for lunch, we got there 2.30 and was told they were closed but we could have a coffee in a takeaway cup. I checked their website and it states that they do lunch 12.09 to 3.30 !!! While we sat there a bit bemused several other customers turned up and we also refused lunch . If a restaurant states they are serving lunch at certain times they should by law keep to those times .

Maybe it was a bad choice as been before and usually better than todays sausage and red onion marmalade toastie! It wasn’t a toastie, just 2 rounds of toast which was like rubber and the sausages had a yucky grey colour to them with no sign of browning, don’t know how they had been cooked! Also the skins came away from meat when cut, needless to say didn’t eat much of it.

We have over the years attended ayscoughfee café going back to the days when it was run by Dawn and Andrew who ran it beautifully and provided you with great food, service and customer service. They left and the café was kind of in the wilderness for several years until the current young ladies took over. From what was an excellent café with earlier owners it has been transformed into a wonderful eatery that has transcended the label of . The service is excellent, the setup is way better than it has ever been before with a lovely covered outside setting and the food is wonderful. This place is so much more than a café and is well worth a visit for the whole experience. The food, the cakes and everything else. A great place to go for great food. Highly recommendedIan and Viv

Given the relatively limited facilities at this venue, the quality and variety of the food on offer is far beyond what you would expect. Portions are generous, and the presentation is excellent. We had ham salad (enormous), Roasted vegetable foccacia (tasty!) and salt n pepper squid salad (mouthwateringly tender squid). Oh and the twice-cooked chips are simply historic. A good basic menu and always plenty of specials. The coffee is as good a it gets. Book ahead if you don't wish to be disappointed.

I have been here a number of times, one time included the farmers picnic sharer platter. This was excellent value for money and all of the food which was included tasted amazing. I have also been for breakfast several times, firstly the hot chocolates here are out of this world whipped cream and a flake on top!! Breakfast is cooked fresh to each order which yes does take a little longer but I much prefer hot food and still crispy toast compared to those breakfasts that you just seem to accept for being cold in Wetherspoons. Home made baked beans a lovely flavour and a nice little touch. I haven’t tried the famous focaccia sandwich however what I can say is I have seen them and wow. Be prepared to have lunch and dinner. I have recommended this place to several people and I shall definitely be returning.

Now I don't normally do reviews, but I had to today. Nestled in the grounds of a park in spalding is an astonishing little cafe. Service from the happy, smiling ladies is fabulous, the coffee is some of the best I've ever had, but..... the food, oh the food, its fantastic, beautiful, gorgeous. All sourced from the local area. They make everything themselves, even baked beans, and chips, and even the CRISPS!!! The house baked focaccias are amazing, filled with original & inventive flavours. The menu & the specials board was a joy to read, was I really in rural Lincolnshire? i just couldn't decide & I wished I lived nearer, I'm jealous of the people that do live near. Why aren't more places doing this. You may wait for your food when they're busy, but who cares when the food is this good. We booked lunch and it was a revelation. We'd previously assumed this to be the average cafe. It just isn't. The restaurant serves all kinds of food with its signature Focaccia, and what food it is; imaginative and delicious. I had the tikka chicken with bhaji in turmeric and lime Focaccia. Perfect in every way (well, maybe an Indian chutney would have been a bonus). In such difficult circumstances to serve up such charm and food is a real achievement. I visited the cafe on the Saturday as the first day since they were able to reopen after the issues we have all faced.I'd never eaten there, but had been there for a coffee. I had the focaccia will chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo, plus their homemade crisps. When it came out it was something rather special. On a wooden board with really thick but very light and soft focaccia bread (they make it inhouse), and it was seasoned so well. The homemade crisps are lattice and they actually make them on the premises (I asked). Even the salad was really good, as it was with a nice dressing.I had a black coffee with it, which again was really good. You could go to a relatively faceless place for a quick sandwich. Ayscoughfee Cafe is something special. The girls there are so friendly and helpful. Very upbeat, but not in an annoying way! hehe. They want to do well, and they want you to enjoy your time with them. They had all safety precautions down perfectly, with cleaning gear by the front door, signs, spacing and so on. The bathroom facilities are open during the day, on site, so no issues there.I'm going to try the Homepage Chunky Chips next time, as I saw those and they lokk great.

Popped in for a cuppa during a visit to Ayscoughee Hall and noticed the new menu & mini makeover - this lovely little oasis in the middle of a park is open until 5 on a Sunday! You don’t have to be visiting the Hall (which is free btw) to come to the cafe. The staff & atmosphere were lovely, they’ve got a coffee machine & do a cracking cup of tea, but the food was the star here. They use local suppliers as much as possible & their handcut chips using their own potatoes were seriously some of the best I’ve had. The gluten free chocolate roulade was light & delicious, and we came back later to try the baked Camembert with rosemary & homemade red onion marmalade, and the goats cheese & caramelised onion tart which were really good. Prices were very reasonable for what you were getting and the menu said you could have any dish at half price for a child’s portion. With an aviary and kids playground as well as the beautiful gardens just outside, you can make a very reasonable day out based around this location.

Brilliant family run cafe in the grounds of Ayscoughfee Hall in Spalding. The Hall itself is well worth a visit and the gardens surrounding it are spotlessly kept. The Cafe has recently had a change of owner and my goodness the difference is extraordinary. The food is inventive and beautifully presented using as far as possible ALL local produce. The bread is either artisan or home baked, whatever, it is as far from supermarket bread as is possible. Everything is individually prepared and plainly a great deal of care is taken to get the presentation just right. Yes there will be a slight wait for the food but it will be worth it. Ayscoughfee cafe is a nice place to rest your feet when spending time walking around the museum and grounds. The cafe is tucked away in between the Bowling Green and the Memorial garden. The menu offers reasonable choice and covers for most requirements from a drink through to a small meal. The inside seating is sufficient to cater for several family groups, but in better weather outside seating is available too. This is the second time I've been here, this time being the hottest day of the summer so far according to weather reports. I had intended to sit and have a coffee, but when I saw that ice creams were on sale I decided to 'chill' instead.Despite offering a £10 note (all I had) for a meagre £2 sale, the lady who served me was polite and I went away thinking what a nice place to remember for another time.

Used to love this place. Perfect for a cuppa outside in the gardens. Went with a friend for tea and cake. Cake was dry and had completely fallen apart where she'd cut it so thin and then charged us nearly £7 for two teas and crumbs on a plate. Disappointed, not how it used to be. Won't be going back in a hurry.

This place is set in the gardens of Ayscoughfee Hall so you could visit both at the same time.I think that best time to go would be when the sun is out.

This cafe set in the beautiful grounds of Ayscoughfee Hall is a gem in Spalding. You don't pay Costa prices but the service and coffee are as good.

Today we took the advantage of a lovely sunny lunch time and had lunch in the Ayscoughfee Cafe. We had a little wait due to the number of other people which have had the same idea. They apologised so who could ask for more. Our food was good, hot and well presented. Lovely lunch thanks.

The cafe is a typical municipal park cafe in a good way. Unpretentious straightforward reliable snacks and lovely home made cakes. Just an essential part of a relaxing visit to the gardens. Any visitor should go it just makes you appreciate the space and what a gem the Hall and the gardens are. Thanks

The cafe is located in the lovely gardens that surround Ayscoughfee Hall. The cafe offers a range of snacks, cake and drinks. The cafe has tables both inside and outside. Today in the lovely sunshine we had afternoon tea and a lovely piece of Victoria Sponge. Give it a try.

Freshly cooked and lovely. Reasonable price would recommend and return. We had scampi, chips and salad £5.95. Not a huge menu but better a small menu well done, than a huge one microwaved!

I have used this café many times although not this year yet, It is reasonably priced and an adequate menu for lunches. It is in the grounds of the hall alongside a bowling green and a shallow pond. In the summer on a nice day this makes for a very relaxing time for either a coffee, lunch or just an ice cream.. Children are catered for and there is outside seating.

Runways cafe is a little gem. Took my daughter on a trip in a chipmunk at the airfield and stopped to have Sunday lunch at the airfield cafe. Lovely hot food which is a first for us with a carvery. The staff were friendly and helpful. Very clean and had a lovely atmosphere. The food was lovely, and the beef just melted in the mouth. Hats off to the chef. Extra points you can watch the plans from the cafe

Overcooked dry steaks and burgers. "Well done" steaks were black outside raw inside. Burgers were close to being charcoal. Food not up to normal excellent standards.

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst working in the area.. what a beautiful place. The Mash Tun room was quirky with everything you could possibly need including a tranquil garden to the rear. The bluebell inn has a proper country pub vibe, amazing food and the lovely family that run it really make you feel welcome. Can only wish my stay was longer!

Love rumblings for a traditional filling English breakfast but they have other great things on offer as well as really nice takeaway rolls and sandwiches. Very friendly staff and great value for money overall
