I was taken here for my birthday. I was pleasantly surprised at how professionally run it was by the two sisters who owned it. The resturant although not easy to find on it's road due to current building scaffolding works, was extremely spacious and well presented. The decor theme was extremely clever representing the Caribbean. The tables were perfectly space to enable people to speak without disturbing others. The background music was faint but with recognisable songs. Now to the food. The food was beautifully presented for all dishes. The prawns were nicely seasoned and chicken starter although small was nicely flavoured. The oxtail in a parcel , I had never seen before and it was delicious. The sides were nice and I would highly recommend the jerk wings. Packed with flavour. As many people have said the rum punch is not for the faint hearted and definitely added a new dimension to the occasion. They even take your coat at the entrance. Well done to all the staff.

I initially found it difficult to find, but please I preserved and been back a number of times! The restaurant has a lovely relaxing atmosphere, a warm welcome and is family run. Loved the cocktails The food was authentic Caribbean and tasty. I like that it only caters for small groups upto four people (I think). Great recommendation for a special night out.

So happy to have found this pretty restaurant after looking for high end authentic Caribbean food.My husband is a tough audience and we were both won over. The flavours were excellent, presentation beautiful and portions plenty. My husband said it reminded him of his childhood! The service was impeccable and the music was an added bonus. Word of warning… those cocktails are not for the faint hearted! We will definitely be back, we travelled quite some distance and Ayannas did not disappoint. We will be back for the live music and to try the lobster. Thank you so much for making our night one to remember !

We entered the restaurant with some lovely live music playing very familiar music it was lovely! We was then greeted with great smile from The host, service was impeccable! Food, well I do not know where to Start, my husband is a very fussy eater and he was extremely impressed with the food. He had the oxtail,I had the curry goat and rice n peas. We had 4 starters to share as we wanted to try them all!! Drinks were fabulous too! I will most definitely come again, I have also told say around 20 of my friends to go! Thanks again for an amazing experience! The restaurant is an amazing setting for couples or groups. The restaurant it self had a very classy feel which was impressive. Parking can be challenging however we parked further up the road, passed the mini roundabout and jumped in a taxi down to resturant, I would would say it’s less than a mile.

I used Ayannas as my wedding reception venue with catering included and it was nothing short of amazing! I had tried the food previously so I knew that everyone was in for a treat in that regard. However, the work that Aisha, Ayanna and their team put in was something to behold. The place looked absolutely gorgeous with the perfect ambience and the food and service were top class throughout. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Ayanna’s. The whole experience from start to finish was great. We were warmly welcomed and our coats taken to be hung up. All of the staff were polite and the service was swift. The atmosphere was beautiful, the lighting was ambient & the music was smooth & a good volume. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. Although it did not look like much in quantity, it was extremely filling. Everything down to the mash potato was so flavoursome. The cocktails were strong but tasted amazing. You definitely get your money’s worth and it was money well spent! We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be visiting again. Thank you for Ayanna’s for the pleasant experience.

I heard so many good things about this restaurant and as a result I was really excited to try it out . I went with my friend and she was equally disappointed. She ordered curried goat and I ordered oxtail and they were very underwhelming dishes . Very little flavour! They also need to reposition their tables , the waitresses kept having to squeeze between us to get to other tables not realising I was pregnant so I couldn’t physically tuck my chair in any further . Stick to your local Caribbean takeaway guys!

What's worse than ordering a cocktail and when it arrives the alcohol has completely been watered down or a cheap one has been used and it basically tastes like juice? Thank God Ayanna's is the complete opposite of this. The pina colada, made with coconut rum and white rum, and the passionfruit daiquiri both had a strong presence of alcohol. The duck stir fry was amazing and beautifully presented.

The service was so bad, the lady dropped must of the rice and peas on the table and walked of, then it was the turn of the oxtail, five tiny pieces of meat which amounted to one mouth full, By the time we received our mains the other guest was going home. Now for the cake, on the menu its was described as rum cake, well the trade description act needs to come into play, a block of dark sponge with cream....so many times the management changed the seating plans and got it wrong every time, the best aspect of the events was a clean toilet. This Carribean restaurant sets itself amongst the best. The service was amazing, the ambience was superb, set amongst the true Caribbean feeling with the Caribbean music. Food: The prawns starter i had was exceptional although. My dinner guest (who is hard to please) had the duck rolls and I heard not one word from her, so this means it tasted too good to talk. The portions were not to be complained about. We left the restaurant full. This carribean restaurant is up there with the city cusines in its own right. The jerk chicken was tender and well cooked and the rice and peas was cooked to perfection. My dinner guest had curry mutton and mac and cheese and said it was outstanding. Being of carribean heritage you can say this restaurant lives up to expectations putting itself up their with city cuisines. Presentation of the food was second to none. We opted for rum punch for drinks, they were very generous with the amount of rum!!We went as a party of 2 for a friends birthday, although the company was exceptional, she couldn't praise the restaurant enough. Staff were very friendly, helpful and paid a keen eye to detail. Definitely worth the money!!! Would most definitely come back, intact already booked another reservation. As a note when asked "would you like sparking or still water" do not assume that it is complimentary as we did, it appears on the bill. The only issue which i encountered, was the limited parking and having to park on a double line and take a risk. But in the grand scheme of things, this doesn't matter in comparison to the amazing night we had. Additional: the grand piano and royalty looking sofas upon entry are a beautiful touch! Thank you for making it a special night!

Ayanna's is a medium size restaurant set in The Docklands area of East London. The restaurant is set on the corner of the main road and is between a number of luxurious apartments. Parking is available but limited on the street behind the restaurant.First impressions before entering a romantic setting lovely wide windows draped in black chiffon provided a glimpse of the candle lit fine dining laid tables. We were attending a large birthday dinner and on entering we were welcomed to the acoustic sounds of a piano and solo singer. They took our coats and we were taken to our table. The restaurant was somewhat busy but the waiter and waitresses were attending to everyone's needs with no complaints. As we had pre-ordered both red an white wine we were all thoroughly entertained before the starters arrived, these ranged from the delectable cheesy lobster, spicy whitebait fish, jerk chicken fillets and sweet chilli prawns. The most rated starter amongst the group of 20 was the cheesy lobster which was well flavoured and served on a tasty pastry. The mains now had a lot to live up to but were served swiftly after the starters were cleared. Now I have been to many Caribbean restaurants across London, both of the commercial and traditional kind and I must commend the chef on his art as the essence and flavours in the dishes were exceptional. I had ordered the tasty curry goat which was served in a filo pastry with small side dish of rice and peas, the flavours were immense and delightful. It is always a good sign when the group your with turn the discussion to how great there food tastes. We had one person who was disabled in our group who uses a motorised wheelchair and the restaurant had disabled toilets and were able to meet all the needs of the wheel chair. We did not have a dessert as had cake and champagne as our sweet so am unable to remark on the desserts. The only improvement I could suggest be made is the attire of the serving staff. Do not get me wrong they were well presented in dark clothing that was clean, but it was not consistent if they could be dressed in black shirt and trouser with long apron it would be more befitting for the restaurant of this kind. I strongly recommend everyone tries this restaurant, the management team have a good thing going and would love to see a branch of this restaurant open in every area of London and then rolled out across the UK as it is a true representation of Caribbean foods and flavours. I look forward to revisiting and new recipes gracing the menu.

The starters, when it did arrive was lovely sweet chilli prawns - just the right portion and I also had a nibble of the HOT jerk chicken..(very nice but HOT HOT...lucky it was only a nibble). Then the long wait began.... The curry goat was served in a filo basket on the plate but the meat on top was cold and further down in the basket hot, so it may have been sitting for a while before being brought out. I would go again as the food was beautiful, atmosphere lovely and the staff couldn't be more apologetic...I gave a 10/10 for the food and a 6/10 for service/effort. I really wanted to like Ayanna's, as I am a huge supporter of black-owned businesse's however, this place really was a let down for me.I went with a party of around 20 for my sister's graduation/birthday meal, we preordered our courses weeks beforehand. Decor/Ambience: They had a cloakroom but no attendant and the one member of staff did not offer to take any of our coats. The piano was a nice touch but shoved against the wall with no one playing it left it looking abit lacklustre. Food: Firstly it took over 1hour and 15 minutes to get a started. The one middle-aged man seemed to have a horrible attitude anytime anyone asked how much longer. I had the prawns and they were pre-cooked prawns in chilli sauce, nothing gourmet about it and it came luke warm but i was so hungry I ate them anyway. My main of jerk chicken came stone cold, an dso did my younger cousins so we had to send them back. It was returned 5 minutes later after a blast in the microwave, drenched in bbq jerk sauce (tasted like levi roots). Very arrive and you could tell the chicken hadnt been seasoned properly as apart from the sauce it was very bland. Everyone in our party ended up cancelling desserts, after sampling the food we all felt that we could definitely skip it. My minuscule starter and substandard main can to around £25, and I left abit peckish. Service: When I first walked in at 7 I was greeted by a stern and smug looking middle-aged Jamaican man who took me to shut the door behind myself before I let in the cold. I asked for the party I was joining and instead of walking us to the table he just pointed in the general direction. I felt marginally sorry for him, because he was clearly stressed, as he was making drinks, and serving (possible also cooking). But he was MISERABLE and RUDE. I do not understand how the individuals with positive comments experienced any different as it seemed like his natural demeanor. When I asked what rum was in the punch he threw a menu in front of me, instead of just telling me, which was also very rude and uncalled for. There is not much more to say apart from, I hope as this restaurant gets better so does this mans attitude. Half way through the meal a lady arrived, and we were very pleased to finally see a waitress. She asked if all was good with the food, and I shared with her my dissapointment. She them told me she was Ayanna, I felt abit bad for being so brutally honest, but I think they could definitely benefit from the feedback. She was friendly and polite, but seemed very busy. The place is VERY understaffed. I really hope this place improves, but till it does it should lower the prices.

Ayanna's of London thank you for raising the standards and maintaining it. Sustainability is key. 1st visit to a Fine Dining Caribbean Restaurant, I gained info regarding the history of the restaurant and why the location. Family business and this was reflected. Customer Service and communication with client excellent, value for money for the quality food presentation, portion size, cocktails (Jamaican Mule) excellent. Beautiful energy and not to forget the music, on point. Definitely a must return only sorry I'm not a meat eater, love the curry goat and oxtail in the filo pastry basket. Callaloo pancakes to die for. We will be returning at the end of September. Thank you all for the exceptional service. Shouting Ayanna's

Delicious Caribbean food with a gourmet twist. I had the lobster mac and cheese (still looking for the lobster: hint) which was a decent tasting starter. For my main I had curry goat with rice and peas, I was pleasantly surprised when it came in a edible filo pastry bowl of sorts. It was delicious, definitely one of the best tasting curry goat I've ever had.

My husband took me to Ayanna's for our wedding anniversary dinner in June. We arrived at the restaurant and we were greeted by the most friendly waiter (shame I didn't get his name!). He made our visit wonderful. He always had a smile on his face and always checked that we were ok after each course. The food was so beautifully presented that I didn't want to eat it for fear of the inevitable! ruining how beautiful it looked! and it tasted great as well. Needless to say, the portions were excellent. I didn't feel I needed more food. So with great service and excellent food, I will be recommending Ayanna's every chance I get.

My fiancee took me to Ayanna's for a surprise birthday meal in March. We arrived at the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised with the interior. It was very modern and elegant. We were greeted and seated to our table which had 17 of my loved ones already waiting for me to arrive. A grand piano in the corner which added a fine dining feel to the place. I was a bit confused when I saw my fiancee speaking to Conrad (the manager) like they were old time friends (I had no clue that they had been corresponding prior to the dinner). He was very attentive and was coming over every so often to converse and see how we all were doing. Conrad is a great host.We were then introduced to our servers for the evening who were two great women, might I add. (Cannot remember their names.. sorry). They were fantastic, patient and knowledgeable of the menu. Nothing was too much for them. The food was okay but could do with a tweak or two. The presentation of the dishes I really cannot fault. The prawn starter was nice but the sweet chili sauce tasted like the shop bought stuff I buy all the time. The salad it was presented on was like it was out of the packet. Overall it was a nice dish but as I said a tweak or two can really elevate the dish. I had the curry goat which was nice. This is just my opinion. It is definitely a place to consider for an occasion. I would book in advance.I have been back again with my fiancee and again it was a lovely evening.

I took my mum here to celebrate her birthday with a party of 23 all orders had already been pre booked, having been sat for over an hour to receive a starter in an extremely cold restaurant with one portable radiator for the staff at the entrance we began to get irritated not one single apology or explanation as to why it was taking so long after a serious complaint they began to speed up and serve our main unfortunately we ran out of time to have dessert even after arriving 3hrs prior. The management gave us a discount off our bill but we will not be returning!! Food was ok and if you are of Caribbean decent you can probably do better at home. Sorry for bad review hopefully this is an isolated case.

There's so many good things I have to say about my visit to this restaurant yesterday. It was a surprise for my mums 50th birthday so we had been in contact with Ayeisha (may be spelt wrong sorry!) for months with regards to our booking. She was so helpful and patient with us, even around such a busy period for the restaurant! The restaurant is intimate and sophisticated; a nice change for Caribbean cuisine. Everything from the chandeliers to the piano gives this place a touch of class. On the day all of the staff, Ayeisha and Conrad, the waiters/waitresses and even the cloak room team were amazing! Attentive, patient, friendly I couldn't ask for better. Anything we wanted/ needed was given to us... No fuss, no wait. We were a party of 40. The actual surprise went down a treat, with their help it went very smoothly. The food .... The best part. It was fantastic, the portions appear small but many family members left feeling satisfied! The presentation is nothing I'd seen before in a restaurant of this kind. Flavoursome and tender meat, I wanted to taste everyone's food! The cocktails were very nice too and Conrad is very generous with the alcohol in them. Overall my family and I had a lovely night and I couldn't thank the Ayannas team enough for helping my mums evening be as special as it was.

First things first, the website for this restaurant describes it as being in Canary Wharf, but that's not true. It's actually in a rather underwhelming location between Poplar and Blackwall, so I guess the Canary Wharf bit is to attract those who are visiting London. But the food here is really good, so seek it out. (We actually got a taxi from Canary Wharf, which took ten minutes, or Blackwall DLR station is nearby.)The menu is full of Caribbean goodies - goat curry, oxtail, callaloo rolls (like a Jamaican take on spring rolls), macaroni & cheese, and the 'house special' dessert is a delicious spiced rum cake. All the dishes were expertly cooked and well presented, satisfyingly spicy and generously portioned. Service was welcoming and helpful. We visited the week before Christmas, meaning that our dining soundtrack was an album of reggae covers of famous Christmas hits, quite bizarre at times, but I'm sure they don't play that all year round! So, you have to make a bit of an effort to get here, unless of course you live in the East End, but the food makes the effort worthwhile, and if you are new to Caribbean cooking it would make an excellent introduction.

Having waited 15 minutes our drinks arrived (the drink wait time was the only downfall).Once the rest of the party turned up we processed to order our meals which were served to us in a reasonably amount of time. The food was delicious and we could hardly finish what we had.Our waiter was fantastic also and gave us expectional customer service. Ayanna's also have a singer and a pianist who are both very much talented.Great food, wonderful waiter. Only downfall was the waiting time on the drinks. Other than that I will surely be back!

I would give 5 stars on food only but a few let downs... Slow service to get drink orders after the table was seated.. Then a further longggg wait for the drinks to actually be served. Host/overseer was very pleasant (male) but the female waitress (has an A name too) was extremely unfriendly to begin with. Her tone of voice needs improving considering this is a paid service. She warned up in the end but i was already put off. Food however was to die for! Not one single complaint and worth every penny spent. Would go again

We visited mid week and were surprised how quiet it was. My partner was a bit anxious and thought that this was not a good sign but I had eaten there before and could smell the food cooking in the back, so reassured him that it would be a good choice.Anyhow we were very pleasantly greeted and taken to a table of our choice. We were then offered the menu and asked if we would like something to drink. The service was very good our waiter was friendly and attentive but not overly so.The food when it came actually looked amazing. After a quick snap chat session we tucked in. I had the cheesy lobster and my partner had the prawns, which we both thoroughly enjoyed.Everything was so nicely paced. The mains followed shortly and again they did not disappoint, presentation was perfect. The food was very good and surprisingly the portions were extremely filling in comparison to some a la carte type restaurants. I had the sea bass with the creamiest mash potatoes I had ever tasted and the fish absolutely melted in my mouth. My partner had the curry and could not stop praising it.I could barely manage the dessert but we had all evening, so I ordered it anyway and ate it a leisurely pace. This is quite an upmarket restaurant, not your typical looking caribbean.Could not really fault, nice, spotlessly clean. Great decor, light ambience good fresh quality food presented like a work of art. With nice polite staff. If you are looking for quality at a reasonable price definitely give Ayanna's a try.

We had duck and callaloo pancake rolls, then jerk chicken and curry goat - all fabulous. And then were extremely tempted by the desserts - especially the signature rum cake, made properly with good quality rum - yum!! Thank you so much for such a lovely experience.

I went there for my aunts' surprise birthday dinner a few weeks ago. The table had been pre-booked yet they refused to allow us to sit on it until everyone arrived! We had to argue our way to the table. The Manager then refused to serve us drinks and forbade the other waitor from coming to our table. Once the birthday girl arrived things got even worse! We had to take our own food orders and write them down on a piece of paper for the manager, as he told us he was busy tending to his half empty restaurant. We were still refused drinks service throughout the entire night and had to go to the bar and practically beg to be served whilst the waiter looked on and the manager served everyone but us. The disrespect was out of this world and if it wasn't for my aunts birthday we would have left at the first sign of terrible service. Take your custom elsewhere!!!

Took my dad here for fathers day, booked a table which was totally unnecessary because it was half empty. The inside of the restaurant is small but very nicely decorated.Service: Service was extremely slow probably due to the fact that they appeared to have only two wait staff and a bartender.Drinks: Ordered an alcoholic pina colada for myself and a non-alcoholic on for my dad, they tasted exactly the same as I struggled to taste any alcohol in mine. Considering they cost £8 each I expected alot more. Starters: The cheesy lobster tasted nice but not much if any lobster in it. Sweet chilli prawns were very niceMains: Oxtail tasted nice but was clearly burnt under the gravy, stew chicken tasted fine but the pieces were mainly bone and the curry goat was nice with a very large portion.Value for money: Starter, main course and drinks for 3 people came to £80 including £11 service charge included in the bill. Personally I felt that £11 was far beyond what the service deserved but decided not to argue.Location: Right on the corner of the main road so very easy to find, difficult to park as it is surrounded by flats.Overall: Maybe we just caught the restaurant on a bad day but I won't be going back

This is not your average Caribbean restaurant at all. This place not only looks classy but the staff complement the place and serve their guests! - beginning with taking our jackets at the reception. I had the pleasure of holding a party here for 40 people and from beginning to end the staff were absolutely amazing. We had the 2-course meal and used our cake as the dessert. We were asked to collect all food orders beforehand and to send it before the evening as no orders will be taken on the night, expect for side orders. This worked out so smoothly, as on the night we did not have to deal with the issue of orders running slow. Dealing with a big party can be difficult for many restaurants but not for Ayanna's! On the evening itself the service was so great and the food was so delicious and presented in the most beautiful manner. The staff were so polite, well mannered and brought the food out on time, cleared our tables and flowed well with the plans we had put in place. We all felt very comfortable and any problems we had, they were able to help us to overcome. I will definitely be visiting again as this place is good value for money, to have such a classy and warm experience overall.

Attended Ayanna's for a friend's birthday and although the atmosphere in the venue was amazing (my partner is a architectural visualiser and interior designer so we appreciate beauty) we soon came to realise how terrible their customer service was. My partner and I had come from another birthday dinner but did not want to miss our friend's dinner so decided to come and order drinks and nibbles while we socialised with the other guests...big no no!Ayanna's have no a la carte menu! However this was not the problem. The way this was communicated was ridiculous. We were treated as though our request was unheard of and worse, we were treated as being cheap and unable to pay for the £30 three course meal which was the only option available. We tried to explain that we would not be able to eat a full three course meal as we had literally just eaten but and would order some cocktails and have some sides if that was ok. The waitress began to hold her head as though we were crazy and in turn driving her crazy. She called her boss (the bar man) who basically shouted out to us that if we were not ordering the three course meal, we knew exactly where the door was. He pointed at the door in case we had forgotten where it was.I understand that restaurants have their policies but I was shocked by both the staff and the manager at Ayanna's lack of understanding and failure to communicate in a respectful manner. We were spoken to like children in front of all the other guests which was extremely embarrassing. A simple explanation of the policy would have been accepted although flexibility at times is key for business. We will definitely not be returning to this restaurant.

We arrived at Ayannas after 6pm mid week. On arrival we were not greeted welcomingly, instead the waiter looked at us as if we had walked into a closed restaurant. After clarifying that the restaurant was open, we were told that the chef had just 'popped out' and would be back in 20 minutes and we should take a seat. After asking if we had to seat ourselves, as he had not moved from behind the bar, he reluctantly showed us to the table. We ordered soft drinks within the first 15 minutes and the waiter returned a few times to check if we were ready to place a food order. The overall demeanour was quite sour and very unapologetic and so we procrastinated, deliberating our next steps. After 30 minutes of waiting, we asked if the chef had returned and to our surprise, he had not. Starving and unsure of the guarantee of food within a short time frame we asked for the bill for the drinks order, which was brought without an apology. They had even audaciously added a service charge to the bill. Never have I been to a restaurant where the chef had exited the building and there was no one to cook. Poor service. Very hard to support Caribbean businesses when efficiency, competency, reliability and punctuality seem so far from the performance you receive.

Ayannas food wasn't terrible. Staffing and timing between courses really needs to be reviewed. They need more staff. As I went on a busy Saturday night. There were 3 waiting staff to serve the whole restaurant including the bar, so even though I got there at 7 i didn't actually get my first drink til around 9:30pm by this time I was starving and there was no sign of my food. My starter comes 20 minutes later and the lobster just tastes like balls of rubber coated in tesco value pack cheese. I wasn't impressed at all. But just after 10 o'clock my curry goat and rice main came and it was ok Ish. But the won ton that it was served on confused me as in Jamaica none of my family have served food in a won ton that's far from Caribbean cuisine. I wouldn't really recommend this place to anyone as I felt it was a long night sitting down and waiting for long periods of time for food that wasn't worth waiting for let alone paying for.

This was my second visiting this restaurant. The first time I visited, was a suprise birthday gift from my lovely boyfriend. At that time the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. So for Mother's day, I decided to treat my mother and daughter to what imagined would be the same experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I selected soup as a starter which turned out to be salty and bland in flavour. For the main, I went for the red snapper dish. This had a slightly burnt flavour and again lacked seasoning. There wasn't much choice for desert, I think there was around four options in total so I reluctantly decided to try the rum & almond cake with cream. The cake had a nice texture but when I bite into it I was overcome with the strong taste of spice. Then if that wasn't enough the cake was then drenched with cream, which I would have preferred was separate so that I could add to my preferred taste. Although the staff were extremely attentive and efficient, the food, from start to finish, lacked lustre in terms of seasoning that failed to excite my palatte, which is what one comes to expect when dining out! So, overall it was disappointing and quite a let down from my previous experience at this restaurant.

What can I say. I know we were a large group and this was a Caribbean restaurant but the service was really slow. We arrived at 6:30pm and did not leave until 10:45pm. I like authentic tradition food but this was made all fancy and did not taste spicy. For some reason we were all given pre starters of red bean soup or vegetable fritters for those who ordered soup for their actual starter. I'm not sure if they have enough chefs as speed of service was not great. Everything was either cold or not very hot. It's lucky everyone was laid back and enjoying the food. I was not exactly amazed by the food my nan cooks better and its overpriced for what you actually get. The decorations and furniture was good. It was not overcrowded and even though we were due to have 2 hour slot we were not rushed and a birthday cake was brought in by us which the restaurant accommodated well. My cocktail was great and very strong. I'm not sure we will be back though. The restaurant is in a strange position and there is no nice views. I think there are better restaurants elsewhere I am afraid to say.
