Awesome Chips in Leicester

Great taste, good quantity, great location and good variety of sauces and toppings

Large portions , fish was tasty and cooked to perfection.

The potatoes are not frozen; they peel and fry them fresh on-site. One large potato, which costs about 7 pounds, is quite sufficient for two people. I didn’t add any sauces, but they were delicious on their own. It’s a well-executed establishment. However, it can get quite busy at times, so you may need to wait in line.

The French fries here are really delicious! The line is a bit long on weekends, but it's forgivable because it's delicious.

Ordered some medium fries in a cone, tasted too salty and soggy upon getting the food. Tasted like the 1 pound fries you find at fish & chip shops; mcd fries taste better. Price not worth the quality. Definitely not awesome.

Staff barely speak any English and have an extremely hard time understanding you. They try scam you by giving you a box that has hidden costs that you have to pay for instead of letting you know there’s a cone for free. Ordered Waffle fries with melted cheese and it took 18mins when there was only 3 people ahead of me and they didn’t mix in the cheese which I asked for. Portion sizes are tiny and couldn’t feed a child. Not worth the price they charge you. STAY AWAY AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND!

This place is good and food is great if you know what ur doing.. Ordering was kinda complex but staff was good and suggested the most popular flavour which turned out to be delicious..

Slow service just for chips. If you have them in a box, you pay extra Tried for the first time today & had stomach ache afterwards. I must have had some bad potatoes. Don't think the chips are that awesome.

Let me be honest here, I revisited yesterday after 2 years and thought a lot about writing this review. I'm going to first point out how quickly our orders went through and were made. The staff members were very kind and got straight to the point when we ordered. They were very helpful and quick, which is the reason why the service is 5 stars. The Piri sauce alongside our other mixes we had on top of our fries/chips made the flavour much more delicate. The menu had lots of affordable, good options which I highly recommend you try one of each throughout different visits. The atmosphere is quite small, given that the majority of the space is the kitchen and you will have to wait outdoors for some time. However, typically they are open during sunny times, so this isn't much of an issue. Summarising this, although the atmosphere is relatively small, the options, service and food are really good!

Tasty vegan junk food. Good if you're happy to wait for the slow, surly service.

Sorry you are leaving and do not have the "hot" sauce. If you hold on get the supplies!

Great food , generous box portions but prices are high specially when you add your favourite sauces they soon add up to the total nearly costing you 8 quid for a medium fries box. Honey , mustard and grated cheese . Overall occasionally ok I suppose.

Chips are very nice but the burgers used to be at least twice as big and the ‘chicken’ really tasted like chicken. Now the burger is small and quite flat, doesn’t taste of anything and consistency is weird. 7 pound for a burger like this is not worth it, it looks like it came from McDonalds. I really liked how they made it before.

Waited ages for basic chips and they were okay but not worth the wait ... not sure about all these positive reviews tbh - wont go again as I don't want to waste half day waiting on food which would take 2 minutes to make/prepare ...

They mixed my chips with soses without asking if i want on top or mixed, ended up put in the bin, very expensive

when it was just opened it was awesome, and it hold it name for some time, tried them today after a while. Disappointing, In my own eyes seen how one of employees puts chips back in to hot oil to heat it up, Nothing there is fresh no more.

It's just so busy! Love the chips and the service is great! Really want them to make their shop bigger!

First time trying awesome chips and they were awesome so tasty and loads for your money! The staff are so lovely and friendly, the lady who served me I think was the manager was great so welcoming, helpful and funny! 100% recommend and cant wait to go back!

There is hair in food also i ordered one piri piri chips with salt and fresh onion and one piri piri fries with salt and fresh onion but they gave me both fries without any sauces and salt so I am not happy with that

What a terrible service I've received by the person who served firstly he charged me extra when I asked him he behave very rudly

After waiting in line for about 15 minutes we got to order. Apparently, even though this shop mainly sells potato based products, we still had to wait for 15 additional minutes for a portion of fries, so we ordered chips instead. Even though there were 3 people ahead of us, we still had to wait 15 minutes for two small portions of chips. The potatoes are stored outside at the front of the store, whereas potatoes should be stored in a dark and cold place. The potatoes were already soft, something that shouldn't happen. When we finally received our chips, the boxes were handed to us by someone that was apparently not supposed to serve as their gloves were covered in grease, making the boxes extremely greasy as well. The two napkins we got handed with them were already partially unusable due to them glistening in the same grease. The chips were inmediately put in the box where there was no extra room, so the chips got extremely damp and soggy. Along with that, they too were so greasy to the point you could actually squeeze it out of them. After waiting for almost half an hour and paying nearly 10 pounds for these two portions, we left extremely unsatisfied. We tossed them in the bin almost immediately. Would not recommend going here if you value your money.

I came here as a child when i lived in leicester, there was not a single time where these chips didnt leave a very beautiful memory of being in the clock tower, freshly cut chips and a unique place, never dissapointed

I recently visited Awesome Chips in Leicester City Centre, and I must say, the flavors they offer are truly outstanding! The range of choices for chip toppings is impressive, and they certainly live up to their name in terms of taste. However, one aspect that left me a bit disappointed was the long wait time. It took quite a while to get my order, and it seemed like there was a lack of staffing to handle the crowd efficiently. This did affect my overall experience negatively. Nonetheless, once I got my hands on those delicious chips, I couldn't help but forget about the wait. The quality of the food definitely made up for it. If they can address the staffing and wait time issue, Awesome Chips would truly be a top-notch spot for a quick and satisfying snack in Leicester City Centre.

Waited a good 20 minutes for the food even though the staff had plenty of chips ready to go (bare in mind there was no queue when we arrived). The chips are nothing special. If you're getting the chips, you'll want the sauce because it seems to redeem the chips a little. The price seems overly steep for chips that aren't awesome.

Delicious food at Awesome Chips in Leicester was a joy. The vegan burger was a highlight with meater-friendly flavours. The well constructed burger had a delightful combination of textures and a blast of savoury flavour. Each mouthful was a flavour and crunch symphony with their famous chips. Highly Recommended!!!

They didn't have the toping I wanted and the size was huge, not the most tasty potatoes but not rally bad. It was just of a try.

Wow, wow, wow! What a choice of vegan food we had 2 different burgers with fries and dips and it was absolutely delicious! Very friendly and hard working staff and great to see a vegan establishment so busy.

The lady who is billing is not so customer friendly. She is a bit rude. Apart from that the food is awesome.

Worst place to get food. Staff so lazy and laid back. Owner should fire everyone and hire extra staff if you want to run your business. Suppose to be a fast food but you have to wait 20 minutes just to order food. Please have half a day empty if you want to eat here

Food was great but the service is quite slow and the staff were a bit rude. There was a drink missing from the order and when we asked for it the woman serving gave us a dirty look and said show me the receipt (not in a polite way)

This place is the most disrespectful place in Uk! Last week I been there to have something for breakfast, they told me to wait 10 minutes, yet their 10 minutes turned out to be 25! Honestly I don’t expect much from Asians, but this is too much! Sentence, disgusting

They prepare chips in different ways. I saw chips wrap and chips pizza.

Although it was a little wait to get some chips they were piping hot and tasted really good. Would come back for some more.

Well when it first opened it was the best thing ever flavours were on point the mix was good but now its all abit different lol flavours have changed and price now is just pure rip off small box £7 what a joke and worst bit try getting to the shop with a car 🚗 just so difficult dont understand why the owner wont open another branch eles where in the city so he dont need to bump the city centre price on business rates on his shop..and maybe he could have a sit in or eat option...

A simple concept but done well. This really is a chip shop (i.e. no fish). You have a choice of four types of chips (traditional, fries, sweet potato and waffle) and a huge range of sauces. And that's about it (although they have added a small range of vegan burgers). I've walked past this place when the queues have been ridiculous but I went early on a Friday evening and there weren't many customers and the wait wasn't too long. As for the food, the chips were good and the sauce I chose was good. I'd go again.

Short staffed and had trainee who was complaining about not being able to cope with the orders coming in and refusing to make them,another member of staff saying to trainee he can't help as he hasn't been authorised to help him. Had to wait about 40 minutes for my order,when I got it I was very disappointed with the quality of food and was packed very badly,sauces dripping everywhere. They service use to be great and the food was awesome last year(come every year from Scotland).

I had visited Leicester for my Birthday weekend with friends and was recommended to try “Awesome Chips” the chips are fresh, huge variety of sauces, also a very smiley and polite team. Definitely will go back.

I remember when I first tried Aswsome chips, crispy and tasty but today 30mins of waiting for uncooked soggy chips. Disappointed!

This place used to be really good. Not so much anymore. They charge you extra for putting a small amount of sauce in your food. They don't care about presentation. Longest waiting time ever.

Their fries are so good and delicious I always get cravings while I am nearby their garlic aioli sauce is the best... The quality and taste of fries is also best!

Too much time waiting for order ... They take the money and then is a patience skill until you get the latest order... Could improve the quality of serving Cold do better as is a city center busy area .

Waited over 20 min for a large box of chips for £7. They tasted alright but nothing special really. Not worth the wait on a busy day In my opinion especially due to the high price. You do get quite a lot of chips and there's a huge range of sauces and seasoning to choose from but at an added cost.

They give a really generous amount of chips for a small box for also a semi-decent price too (£4.50). I got smoked paprika powder and melted cheddar and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Only downside would be the 10 minute wait because i was in a rush and some chips were crispier than other but other than that i had a great experience.

Hot, crunchy on the outside, soft inside. And the melted cheddar had the taste of Puck. *Happy human sounds*

Hand made chips with lots of Verity.

Order was wrong and now we are both sick... was told gluten free obviously not. Did not taste good. Had to edit as I have had my son up with food poisoning all night! Avoid at all costs

We visited today, after my husband waiting in the que one of the lady’s who worked there gave a handful of chips to my little girl as she was waiting around patiently. Such a nice gesture. The chips were worth the wait, crispy on the outside just tasted amazing, hot and fresh. Portion size was also generous. Will definitely visit again when out in the city centre.
