We were backpacking through England and we met with a friend and had my birthday dinner here at Avanti. We had lots of pasta dishes over our time in England, but nothing and I mean NOTHING has ever come close to how amazingly spectacular our food was here at Avanti. My sister and I are both Celiacs...so we were over joyed that Avanti offers gluten free pasta! The server, who I think was the owner, was so kind too, he helped me decide what to have...I ordered the Cremolini pasta dish. It was so delicious. It has been a couple months since our trip and I still think about that pasta regularly. I have tried to re-create it at home but have been unsuccessful. The flavours had such depth and richness. I've never had anything like it. So please, if you get the chance...visit Avanti. You won't regret it! 11/10 :)

Came for 21st birthday, host went the extra mile, made the meal really special and the mains never disappoint. Great food and service.

We are on a mini break in Jesmond to tour the Northumberland coast. We are staying close by and have just eaten at Avanti. The staff are so lovely and friendly. Just had one of the best gluten free pasta dishes I've had in a long time and my husband had a lovely seafood pasta. Would highly recommend a visit if in the area xxxxx

Have been using avanti for a few months both for takeaway and eat in all I can say is every aspect of this place is fantastic. When I went in for a take the waiter even made me a coffee while I was waiting. Will be using all the time and would recommend to anyone Thanks Avanti

Couldn't reccomend highly enough! Staff were so friendly and welcoming. We ordered from the early bird menu, expecting basic food, and we received one of the best Italian meals we've ever went for! Couldn't ask for anything more! We will 100% go back ( most likely next week)

Bit pretentious/trying to hard. Staff welcome you nicely enough and are good enough but everyone's suited and booted so you feel guilty for turning up in trainers. Service is good, like i said they do try hard, little bit of a wait but it is busy. Food is ok, doesn't stand out but decent. Personally I'd go somewhere else for the money. There's plenty more to choose from in area that are better and this is spoilt by the pretentiousness.

Me and my friends have gone 3 times now and everytime the food has been absolutely lovely. i can speak for my friends too as they all agree. the service is amazing and they are very polite. definitely recommend

Really great time here for a group of 7. The service was excellent, between them they had all the time in the world for every table. Very friendly, very sociable, very memorable! The food was magnificent at a reasonable price, not something common in Jesmond. As a group of students, it meant a lot to eat great tasting, affordable food in a restaurant where we felt at home. Complimentary limoncello and cake for the birthday boy. Not a bad word to say, plenty of good ones! A fantastic experience all round.

I had a wonderful meal at Avanti, a cosy and authentic Italian restaurant in Jesmond. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and warm. I started with the meatballs, which were juicy and flavourful, served with a rich tomato sauce and bread. For the main course, I had the lasagna, which was one of the best I've ever had. It was layered with tender pasta, creamy béchamel, and a generous amount of cheese and meat. It was very filling and satisfying. I finished with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a cup of coffee, which were the perfect end to a delicious meal. I would highly recommend Avanti to anyone looking for a great Italian dining experience in Newcastle.

10/10 recommend. Food was so amazing and have a lovely meal. I ordered seafood pasta was lit 🔥 in the end of the meal they offer tea or dessert on house. The staff are also so friendly.

Lovely alfresco lunch, service was great and our waiter was very attentive and kind. We had the lunch deal which was brilliantly priced, super tasty and very generous portions. We will be coming back!

Everything wrong, it was like a feature length film of Mr Bean Brought us someone else’s food Lost our order & had to re-order Couldn’t get the ‘Same round of 2 drinks’ right Our food arrived eventually but sent to wrong table! Halfway through my pasta dish only to find a long blonde hair in the food. Literally Faulty Towers but not as funny. People left table next to us as nobody took their order. Never again.

Had a fabulous meal here last night in this cosy and friendly Italian restaurant. My husband, Son and I all enjoyed our three different meals and said we would definitely go back! We even had a complimentary Lemoncello shot afterwards. It was a very nice evening.

Excellent service, decent meals

Fast, friendly service paired with fresh home cooked food made for a very enjoyable evening. The staff were amazing, very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, easily the best bruschetta I’ve ever tasted and the calzone pizza was also very fresh, tasty and filling. They placed chilli oil and freshly grated parmesan on the table for us to help ourselves to during our main course which I thought was a nice touch. Sadly we didn’t have room for dessert. I loved the rustic decor and relaxed atmosphere, it really was a very pleasant and enjoyable evening. We will certainly be returning!

We were in a bit of a rush to eat and get to the theatre. We explained that to the staff and they made sure we were served quickly. I loved the pizza fiorentina which came with 2 eggs on top. The base was crisp and the topping had a lovely rich cheesy flavour. There were 4 of us and all enjoyed their food. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top. Have been many times before and never been disappointed. It would be my first choice for an Italian restaurant in Newcastle.

Mehmet and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is lovely and the portions really generous. The Early Bird deal is great value. The restaurant is attractive and spacious. Thoroughly recommend. The location is great and the prices so reasonable for Jesmond. Great for students. A lovely range of pizzas.

Really good service and lovely food. Went here with a large party as a birthday celebration and the staff were all very welcoming. Would recommend to anyone who fancies good food with a great atmosphere.

We went to avanti for my friend’s birthday and it didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing, the staff couldn’t do enough for us!! They provided the birthday girl with a drink on the house and complimentary limoncello shots. Would highly recommended if you like authentic Italian food and a friendly atmosphere.

A random pick from t'Internet but we struck the mother load. What a fabulous place. Not smart or shiny or glitzy or 'p' itself, but incredible atmosphere, best gluten free pizza I have EVER eaten and amazing hospitality. 100% recommend you find this little gem in West Jesmond.

Me and a few friends went out for dinner the other night for an early birthday celebration. The staff made her night so much more special than we had expected! Last visited a year ago when change of owner. Vast improvement since then. Had a free iced bottle of tap water... Whilst scrutinising the menu. My pizza was so much nicer and lots of tasty topping. Nice thin base. Dessert... . 3 scoops of ice...

Possibly the worst “Italian” food iv ever had. The waiters were amazing and so kind. Only complaint I have is the food, give it a 2/10. If anyone’s thinking of going here I wouldn’t. What a great restaurant. I felt home the moment i got there as everyone was so nice . Started from Shadi who was wonderfully sweet and lovely, always smiling which make us feel very welcome . The price was reasonable and the food was absolutely delicious , i had scallops which was perfectly cooked. Ahmed and Anna who were very very kind and lovely people making sure that we are happy with the food and drinks. I strongly recommend it.

Both myself and my partner had a three course meal here along with the house red wine and a complementary bottle of water. The starters arrived promptly and set the tone for the meal, they were well presented and had such a range of taste. The mains were no different, well portioned for price, the dough used for the pizzas was well baked, soft but not too chewy. The deserts were again well presented, not too sweet to a point of being sickly but a great way to end the meal. As for the staff, definitely the highlight for the night, they were quick to have us seated, kept checking on us throughout the night to ensure there were no issues and made us feel very comfortable. I'd highly recommend for anyone looking for a meal out with friends or adult family!

Lovely attentive staff, lovely food lovely atmosphere. They made two children's pastas from the main menu especially. The sticky toffee puddings were huge. Definitely worth a visit.

If you are looking for a local restaurant in Jesmond -you can’t do better than Avanti ! Fabulous food & fabulous service- never had a bad meal there & great value for money. Try the house wine- very good.

I visited this restaurant on Monday 26th of July with five other members of my family. The food that all six of us had, and each of us had three courses, was faultless. The pasta menu is interesting, not just the usual predictable dishes. We were able to mix and match, Ie choose a pasta and pizza and then have half each to share. This made the experience even more enjoyable as the pizzas were first class as well as the pasta. Two of us had a la carte options and they were equally of a high standard. The service was excellent, and they were fully booked which was a good indication of the popularity of this restaurant. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. I noticed one of the other reviews only gave this restaurant one star and all I can say is if I could give more than five stars I would, and I am usually highly critical of pasta as I cook so much Italian food myself, but we are already planning to visit this restaurant again due to the fantastic experience we all had.

Visited with my girlfriend for her birthday. Ordered a calamari to share as a starter, which was delicious. For mains, she ordered a Piccante pasta, which was absolutely superb, and I ordered the Pollo Chorizo, which was also incredible. We split a sticky toffee pudding for desert, which was huge and absolutely gorgeous, and came with a side of ice cream, which was equally delicious. The service was fantastic, and the drinks were great too - I stuck to pints of Moretti and she had Pornstar Martinis, which were amongst the best she’s had (her words). Would recommend to anyone!

We ordered spaghetti all’amatriciana, and the quality was unfortunately rather poor. Too saucy, too much onion, spaghetti overcooked. We were tempted to return but went on to continue eating anyway as a matter of respect. Positives are the location, the nice service, and potentially other dishes or pizzas might have been more acceptable. But for an Italian restaurant not to nail a classic pasta dish is concerning. Sorry

Tried to book this restaurant through their website. Filled out their booking form, submitted it, and then waited for an email confirmation, which never arrived. Emailed 3 days later to check the status of our booking only to be told "sorry we are completely full". I wish I was psychic.

Vine aquí por primera vez la semana pasada y volveremos muchos más, la comida era increíble, comimos calamares y langostinos increíbles para empezar, ambos cocinados a la perfección y porciones de gran tamaño. La pasta también era perfecta. las bebidas llegaron muy rápido. los gerentes son encantadores y nos trataron muy amablemente. No puedo esperar a volver.

Fantastic to see Avanti open for take aways. We had pizzas last night and they were amazing as always. We added on a portion of chips (you HAVE to try them) and was our favourite restaurant take away of lock down!

D tenía Bruchetta y pizza principal.Vino de la casa por más que adecuado.La segunda vez que tomamos un cóctel para comenzar tuve un negroni que era nuevo para mí y la Sra. Tenía un espresso martini. Ambos eran potentes y encantadores.Tuve un plato de carne que era encantador. Estoy planeando tenerlo la próxima vez como plato principal. Como entrante viene sin pasta. La salsa era bolas asombrosas! Estaba aburrida y tenía filete con salsa de pimienta y patatas fritas. Hecho en casa excelentes patatas fritas y bistec encantador. La señora volvió a comer bruschetta con los raviolis que tenía antes. El vino por copa también era agradable.En general, esta tiene que ser una de las comidas con mejor relación calidad-precio que puedes conseguir en Jesmond. Comida casera y ambiente encantador. Muy relajado y tiene un auténtico toque italiano.¡Va a ser habitual para nosotros ahora!
