Volveremos :)

My first visit. And certainly not my last. Pleasant atmosphere, good service, extremely clean & tidy (including the toilets). Vegan friendly, although I didn't on this occasion. My choice from the menu was: "Good Intentions" - smashed avocado, tomato, red onion, and butternut squash on sourdough toast with the house dressing. Plus a salmon addition. Delicious! See you again soon..!

Comfy cafe with lovely staff and even greater milkshakes/ coffee and food menu! The food is delivered in a good time with plenty of really delicious options. And the cafe always has a nice calm, relaxed but still full vibe. It is so well priced and would definitely say it’s the far better and now the only option for me, over others on the street! The portions are beyond fair and very filling, with really good quality ingredients and presented so well.Even the toilets are lovely (not really a big deal but something that is still a nice little extra). There are so many options that it caters for everyone! Including Veggie and Vegan! It’s a must go! I could go every weekend if I could!

Had lunch here before going to nearby Kings Theatre. Ordered at 1230 - food arrived at 1315 after I had queried the delay. Other diners did the same. Food was lovely and I wasn't in a hurry but...... No apology was offered.

We were recommended this place via the quaint sweetshop near the theatre, we enjoyed tea and homemade cake. If we would have had the time, our family would have tried the Colombian food. Looked great. Privately owned with the owner being Colombian, please support so we can all enjoy the good food.

First visit and I'm a fussy eater so am often disappointed. Not here I wasn't. I had the vegetable stew and it was absolutely delicious. Full of flavour and a large portion which will satisfy most appetites. Lovely service and pleasant surroundings. Will definitely visit again.

A quirky cafe on Albert Road, Southsea's alternative main drag, offering a varied menu from which my friends and I chose cornbread and scrambled eggs, rarebit, and in my case eggs royale. I liked the atmosphere here; the service was friendly. The cafe is also dog-friendly - between the four of us we mustered two dogs (one large and one very small) and the other two not to be outdone were showing around pictures of their dogs. Water was provided for our canine friends. We were all agreed that it was a fine place to visit and that Albert Road is a gem.

I ordered a dish which is highlighted in the menu and is described as corn bread with cheese - for breakfast. The waiter asked if I wanted the cheese melted and I said I didn’t know how it was supposed to be eaten. It arrived as a very dry very flat disc of cornbread with lots of grease on it and two slices of very salty bacon. Bread was inedible and the waiter decided to tell the chef not to put any cheese on at I’ll. £5.20 for two rashers of salty bacon. No offer of a refund, got charged for the lot. As the meal took ages to arrive we had to pay and go as we needed to be at the Kings in a couple of minutes. My guests had scrambled eggs which were more like a chopped up omelette and an odd colour. I very rarely leave bad reviews but £21 for three coffees, two rashers of bacon and a couple of scrambled eggs was ridiculous. Waiter apologising for messing up my food but still charging full price? Best avoided at all costs.

Came for a late Sunday brunch with my friend and arrived to a packed cafe at the end of a busy breakfast slot. We ordered our food and waited a while which was fine as our coffee came and was delicious. When our breakfasts arrived the scrambled eggs were perfect but the eggs benedict not exactly on form with a bagel replacing the muffin and the eggs gone solid. My friend returned it and asked for it to be re-done. To cut a long tale short the staff could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. They couldn’t make a new one for her but offered her something else AND refunded her money. But what we really liked was that the cook herself popped out to explain what had gone wrong and later the new owner came over to apologise too and had a lovely chat with us. Instead of a bitter taste we left with a warm feeling about the place and will of course go back.

Fabulous cafe bistro. The lighting, decor and furnishings are quirky and comfortable. Excellent coffee and totally unique slice of watermelon cake that both tasted and looked like watermelon and was delicious. Very interesting menu with something to suit all tastes. The loos were spotless. The staff were friendly and helpful, all in all a great find.

Delicious and generous portion of scrambled eggs and salmon on sourdough bread, but coupled with two coffees this came to nearly £12; pricey considering my friend didn't have anything to eat. Plus, for the entire time we were inside the cafe, (45 mins) the same song (Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks) appeared to be on loop, which was extremely irritating. On the plus side, it's much less cramped than its neighbourhood competitors and those scrambled eggs WERE yummy. I'd probably go back at a push.

Whilst visiting the area to see family, I did a google search to find a cafe that would allow dogs. Google led me to Auroras. Received a warm welcome from the staff and they made a fuss of the dogs. I live in Devon and have sampled many cream teas but only in Devon & Cornwall, so decided I would try one at Auroras. The scone was one of the best I have tasted for a long time! Served with a generous portion of jam and clotted cream, it was a perfect refuel on a cold day! This place is defo on my revisit list for the next visit.

Being a few steps from the Kings Theatre, Southsea, this was a convenient place to drop in for afternoon tea. We loved the shabby chic appearance and the laid-back atmosphere, with unobtrusive but pleasant background piped music. They do a mean fruit cake and carrot cake, which was served with a smile.

After my teenage years I noticed the decline in Albert Rd,however like Portsmouth FC it appears on the way up again. Not dissimilar to The Angel's Upper st in London. Bohemia Central.Who needs the crowds in nearby Coffee 1, the usual average coffee chains and the taste of an inferior latte? The seating here, especially near the window was "Qualitee". Cool name Aurora ...you imagine stars and the cosmos and you half expect the place to be teeming with Roman Godesses or in this particular part of Southsea students discussing the Higgs Bosun and existentialism...hang on a second, I am getting carried away here...FOCUS...Staff appeared friendly. Latte here exceptional, especially after the last one at The Watermark...hmmmmmm.....It was a flat white!I promise to return for a bottle of Cote du Rhone ... (Quite reasonably priced), especially if The British Embassy give the green light on Monday....ce'st la vie....Fidelscastrol.

For several years we used to visit here when it was in the prime of its previous identity as Majic Bean, sadly when it changed hands MB went through a tragic decline. Now the good news, the premises are open again under new ownership and with a refreshing approach to business. During the day it is a very light and airy coffee venue also providing some interesting and varied light lunches. I recently had one of their platters which didn't look like a lot of food when served but, combined with the fresh, sliced then re-baked bread was very filling and satisfying. The coffee served here is also good quality. One of the strengths of Aurora is the staff, they are all real people with character. In the evening Aurora transforms into a casual lounge venue with regular music and poetry sessions. I've not been to one of these yet but will do soon.Aurora is somewhere that is just that bit different and certainly has issued a challenge to other catering outlets in Southsea.

We dropped into Auroras last night after an evening at the Kings Theatre. As we walked past the lounge looked warm and inviting so why not stop in for a night cap?The drinks menu offered almost anything you could ask for including soft drinks! It was highly tempting to try one of the many milkshakes on offer but opted for a latte instead. The rest of the party ordered alcohol. You were offered a choice of where to sit either laid back sofas and chairs to while away a few hours with friends or more formal table and chairs to indulge in a light snack whilst on the go. We didn't try any food due to the time but it is definitely on the list of places to try during the day.It was a wonderful find to be able to sit back, relax with family and enjoy the rest of the evening without the hussle and bussle of a pub or other bar where you would have to shout to get anything heard. Auroras is definitely the place to go!We will be back.

First visit to this recently opened cafe near to the King's Theatre which is named after the statue atop the Theatre. Friendly and welcoming staff, very good coffee and excellent fruit cake. From observation of other customers whilst we were there, meals looked good as well. Additionally, there are sharing offers on a separate menu and the prices are fair. Open seven days a week starting at 09.00 on Monday to Saturday and 10.00 on a Sunday. Try it out, you will not be disappointed. We will certainly return.

On a Portsmouth walk about prior to returning to the Isle of Wight, so popped into the Auroras mid-morning for refreshment, as a friend had recommended it on Facebook ! The location is tastefully quirky and has a good feel about it. A variety of different styles of tables and chairs, requires you think about where you would like to sit ! Americans and a good sized chocolate brownie was the choice for this morning ! Order taken and brought to the table subsequently . Nice surprise brownie had been warmed through and came with a small pot of clotted cream ! This was a good morning.Cost ? Under £5.00 . Good value for what you got ! Happily return when in the area.

We had excellent coffee and BRILLIANT the server did not hold the glass by the lip ie her hands were not all over where I was going to drink. We decided to stay for lunch and shared a Mini Mezze which was excellent. We ordered more bread which came immediately and for which we were not charged. A thoroughly pleasant place to visit with a friend for informal eating.

Gilley’s Diner in Portsmouth, NH, is a hidden gem for anyone looking for classic diner food in a charming, nostalgic setting. My wife and I stopped by for a quick bite and were impressed by the experience. She ordered a hot dog with fries, and I opted for a double cheeseburger with fries. Both were served within 5 minutes, hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Despite the small menu, the food is top-notch for diner fare, and the friendly service adds to the experience. The diner itself is small and quaint, with only six seats, but the charm of this old food truck-turned-diner more than makes up for it. The service was fantastic—there's only one person running the place, and she handled everything seamlessly. If I lived in the area, I'd be here at least once a month. Highly recommend for anyone craving a quick, delicious meal in a cozy, old-school diner atmosphere.

Visited this pub and stayed about 2 years ago, lovely rooms, great pub, cosy & inviting, great atmosphere and food. Visited pub this Easter weekend, well I was shocked! I assume changed hands as now run down and empty considering 8.30pm on Saturday evening. Not sure what it's meant to be but certainly didn't feel like a pub, more like a cross between a village hall and an Indian restaurant when you look at furniture. Place full of tables set for diners with mismatch metal chairs garden furniture and high back chairs from a restaurant, no comfortable sitting at all. Felt awkward sitting there for the 1 drink we had and they were already clearing bar to close for the night. Cold and clinical lighting and I won't mention the toilets! Disappointed visit and sad that the pub has lost its charm. Won't be visiting again plenty of other lovely pubs just a few 100 yards away.

Their famous bacon baps consist of boiled fatty bacon with white residue on the bacon. Does not look like the picture on the shop window. Disgraceful.

Pub real, gente estupenda, gran personal, mucha diversión. Reglas simples durante Covid, firmar en la puerta con el número de la mafia, lavarse las manos, ordenar, sentarse, ¡la cerveza llega en segundos! Incluso fuera de un gran pub.

We used to visit this place very often especially when down to commercial road for a shopping. The food is always delicious and we really enjoy their jacket potatoes - big and rich of flavours. The service is great. There could be queues sometimes, be aware of that. Prices are ok.
