The Vegetarian Nut Roast with Mashed Potatoes and selected vegetables (2) is scrumptious to the taste and I have had this a few times sometimes with petit pois and other times with carrots and cabbage. The sauce is just the right amount and very tasty. This dish is Mouth watering food with Gourmet Master Chef Presentation!

Well situated in this retirement village and it's a hub of the community which is so important . The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent value for money. The prawn cocktail , soups . Macaroni cheese, salmon fillet and scampi all good.

We drive up and down frequently to Aberdeen from Birmingham and are always too focused on getting to the destination. This time, we took a short detour and sat with exquisite views enjoying exquisite food. So glad we did.

The Auchlochan Bistro is set in a retirement village and I have eaten there often when visiting my Mother in Law. As they are mainly catering for the elderly, you would expect a "Home Fair" level of cooking. Not today. There new bistro menu contains Haggis stuffed breast of Chicken in a peppercorn sauce. I ordered it and it came with diced carrots broccoli and creamy mashed potatoes. I have eaten in many fine dining restaurants but would compare todays offering with many meals I have eaten. It was delicious. It was made to order and arrived within 15 minutes.

On my Sunday afternoon walk I sometimes stop by the Bistro in Auchlochan Garden Village. It makes probably the best latte in Lesmahagow together with outstanding homemade cakes.

Huge poster advertising lovely coffee & gateau - for £3.50 sounded great - so we ordered from the cake selection and coffees only to be told the 'cake of the day' was a very slim slice of madeira loaf ? Nothing on the poster indicated any 'deal of the day' restrictions - only the time, between 2-5pm (which was within our timing). When we queried the bill (quite a lot larger than expected) - we were told we could always put them back. When I mentioned the huge poster - they said it SHOULD have said 'cake of the day' ???? Disappointed at the couldn't care less attitude- and no appropriate customer service - Shame Auchlochan - your whole ethos is based on 'kindness and compassion' - (and honesty!)

waited for 15 minutes whilst various members of staff wandered about and eventually had to go and ask if an order could be placed. Staff on the whole friendly and efficient - the young girl with dark hair should take note!!!

Bistro is in a retirement village, with a care home so many of the residents, many with visiting families were eating there. My mother lives locally and has been many times but this was my first visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. It was very busy the day we went and service was a little slow, but it was not a problemGood menu choice and reasonably priced. We went on a Saturday but noticed they offer a Sunday roast dinner for £5.95, which seemed very reasonable. Food was very nice and generous portion sizeAlso a lovely walled garden nearby for a gentle walk after your meal

My friend and I were visiting Auchlochan to see the gardens which are well worth the trip by the way. We spent a lovely couple of hours enjoying the walled garden and grounds and decided to go for lunch in the bistro since we were there. The service was friendly and helpful and the food good. We had toasted sandwiches which came with a nice salad and crisps followed by coffee. The bistro is also the dining room for residents of Auchlochan, and it did feel a bit awkward as if we were interloping on lunch time for the residents there. It was handy to eat there while we were visiting but not somewhere to go out of the way to eat at especially for a special dinner.

We visited for lunch. Service was extremely slow and food was only just passable. We waited nearly an hour for our cold starters and a further 30 minutes to get the main course. There is a lovely bright restaurant space which advertises as a bistro. It's really more of a cafe / dinning room which serves the retirement home. It's fine for a coffee or to take family who are residents, but not to have a meal as a social occasion.

My wife and I had afternoon tea yesterday using an Amazon voucher. This was the best afternoon tea we have ever had. There was so much food we could not finish it, beautiful sandwiches, scones and cakes and a glass full of sweets. The staff were superb and made a great effort to make our visit special. We finished our visit with a walk through the beautiful walled garden. We will certainly visit again.

We visited here today with an Amazon voucher for the three course meal. We both had the mackerel mousse as a starter and it was beautiful. My husband had macaroni cheese and chips which he was most impressed with, the macaroni was very cheesy and the chips were home made. I had liver in a red wine sauce with sautéed potato and it was very tasty. Portions were more than generous and I am sorry to say we couldn't do justice to a pudding but the choices looked great - I was all set for the sticky toffee pudding but it will need to wait for another time, We had two cappuccinos made with Illy coffee and very nice they were too. After our meal we went for a walk round the walled garden and it was absolutely beautiful, then we wandered over to the loch which was populated with swans, coots, moorhens and a variety of ducks plus a handful of black headed gulls. Also saw squirrels, pity they were grey :-( A small selection of dishes which were cooked and presented well. We will be back. Oh yes, can't forget to mention the staff who were friendly and attentive.

Second visit here & was another amazing meal. We had the fish & chips, ‘boring’ burger & chips, maple & garlic siracha chicken gyros & southern poutine loaded fries. Everything was cooked well, tasted amazing, well presented & we didn’t wait long for food to arrive. Service was excellent, waitresses are lovely. Didn’t have any alcohol this time but cocktail menu looks amazing! Restaurant is really well decorated with lots of unique features & there was a great, buzzing atmosphere. Forgot to get photos of the food, was too excited to eat it!

So 1st and last time visitor ! Was recommended to me so made a trip for lunch. Ordered soup which both came luke warm so requested that they be warmed up to eating temperature. Take 2 on return one was slightly warmer the other still luke warm. As am not one for take 3 spoke with staff to ask if I could pay as decided to go elsewhere, no charge (not eaten) but the soup "apparently" take a while to heat !! Offered to heat "again" but thought after 2 attempts, not. It should be good to go from the off otherwise why serve cool soup. A less than satisfactory experience and to be honest not a great ambiance, my wife thought seating was uncomfortable. Sorry but that's how we found the place 😐
