Disgusting fruit tart , overpriced at more than I’d pay in Fortnum’s, poor quality overly sugary not buttery. The tiniest amount of crème pat spread so thin it was barley there. Absolutely a joke. Never going to waste my money here again.

There is nothing French about this place. Everything is bough from cheap mass-producing catering companies. Soooooo processed!! Cakes and pastries were definitely not fresh as they were still part frozen!! Much better places in the area

Awful customer service. I ordered coffee and a chocolate macaron. The coffee was fine. The macaron was awful. Solid (I struggled to break it with a fork) and stale. I would assume that a decent “patisserie” would know that a good macaron should be crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. However, when my partner took the macaron back into the shop (we were eating outside) he was told that they were meant to be like that and that if I wanted something soft I should have ordered something else, like a lemon tart. Appalling food. Appalling rudeness and customer service. We will not be going there again.

Hygiene levels non existent. Only realised when staff played with dogs in their lap and work apron and then moving on to work the coffee machine. No handwashing. How can you touch a dog or other animal and have it on our lap and then go on to make coffees? Then the cheesemonger shop assistant came in from next door and had the dog in her lap. The apron was dirty and smelly as expressed by another customer. Quite embarrassing. Shame for the Monmouth coffee which I love, but the coffee was not good and the cutlery was not clean. I am shocked at the lack of hygiene and how this place is run. The cakes and other foods displayed without protection. It was however one of the cheapest coffees in town but I had a few sips only as I realised the cleanliness was not acceptable.

Had the most delicious choux pastry here. Unfortunately however when ordering a simple drink the staff were clueless, I waited and waited… they had no idea what they were doing. I paid £4.50 and was given the wrong flavour drink. Given how chaotic it was I couldn’t be bothered to complain as lots of people were waiting and getting fed up. Not a fan of my toothpaste flavoured drink but I can’t deny the pastries are the best. Please give your staff training!!! It’s not their fault if they can’t work machines… it’s also awful for business as nobody is going to return for drinks if they don’t know how to make them.

Every other cafe in Dulwich village had long queues as a result of local schools/colleges coming out for lunch break so I thought I was fortunate finding this cafe tucked away slightly and without a long queue of customers. Wrong! While my coffee was ok (nothing great) my pastry was dry and tasteless. Prices were eye watering. The female assistant appeared irritated to be disturbed by a customer and had an attitude. Avoid!!

As a customer who also has two children exempt from masks, but not immune to catching or spreading this awful virus, the precautions Au Ciel have been taking make then the most appealing cafe to go to in the area at this time especially. They have really gone the extra mile to provide safety for all their customers and staff and I have no issue at all with outdoor service option as they always greet me with a happy face behind the mask regardless.

This little cafe is the best place for coffee and food in Dulwich. It seems like a little family place in a sea of over priced chain cafes and restaurants. The food is excellent quality and great value for money. The coffee is delicious and the cakes very tasty and indulgent. The staff are really lovely.

Wandered in, as it was the first place I spotted which served food. Ordered a jacket potato, sat down & looked up this place on Trip Advisor. Saw a review that said jacket potato inedible. Felt a big worried. Mine arrived after 10 mins or so, and is fine. It’s nice a quiet here, nicely lit, and a pleasing hub bub. The tap water I asked didn’t come, but a pleasant young man willingly got a glass of water.

No pierdas tu tiempo o dinero.

No puedo recomendarlo.

After a trip to the Dulwich Picture Gallery we stretched our legs and walked off our museum feet to find a sandwich and a cup to tea.The cafe had a few people having coffee, and a couple were leaving with lunch to go, so we thought we would brave it. The cheese and ham baguette, and the same again in a croissant, took forever to arrive despite them being in the case ready to be served. The tea was good, served in a tea pot which is nice. The cakes lifted our spirits, though the bill soon brought us back down to earth.

Having lived in the area for almost 20 years, I know how fortunate those who live in striking distance of Dulwich Village are. Most businesses in the area are owner-run and Au Ciel is one such. Prices are down-to-earth but the quality is as good as it gets. For coffee, it is head and shoulders ahead of the competition, and has some superb produce, especially the Gelateria Danieli ice cream which has been rated as the best in Britain. The chocolates, cakes and pastries are also in another league, and the staff are wonderfully obliging.I also hear there's a plan to open an arts and crafts gallery on the first floor. I wish the idea every success,The only drawback is that the place is small and can get very busy, slowing the service somewhat. Also its size means there is little in the way of hot food. If hot food was ever possible that would make it arguably the best small, upmarket cafe in London, bar none

We both chose the beef cheeks main course with side of truffled cauliflower & it was absolutely delicious!!! We were seated upstairs where the waitress, Danielle, known as Dee, was so lovely, happy & attentive yet she left us alone to chat without pressurising us to order. We always meet at this Côte as it never disappoints & we even sat outside after our meal to have a coffee in the autumn sunshine. Highly recommend.
