First time at this South Indian restaurant, WOW! blown away by the excellent quality of the food , okra fries are to die for and pani puri delicious . Chicken madras was perfect ,delicate and subtle with gentle spices and a wonderful black pepper hit. The staff are exemplary, friendly , polite and helpful. I give Five Fingers a resounding 5/5.

Best Indian food I have eaten. Friendly staff. Will surely visit again if I am ever in Shoreditch area. Anyone who enjoy Indian food this place is a must in Shoreditch/Dalton or London period.

Delicious food, really fresh and prepared with imagination and care. The spicing was perfect for me - well thought through and each dish individually flavoured. No jars of 'readymade' here! Nice and hot too, the way they have it in India, not blandified for an English audience. Friendly and helpful service. This was our third visit...and we don't live that nearby1

We visited on New Year’s Day and were very excited to see the restaurant open. It was my first-time dining there and we had lunch deals. They were pretty good and wonderful prices. Excellence service as well!

I'm conflicted in writing this review, as I gather that the restaurant has changed hands from Attawa to Five Fingers, whilst retaining the same (excellent) chef. I dined here before the changeover, and found the food, ambience and service wonderful. This evening, with the restaurant badged as Five Fingers, I found the following: Excellent food; Nice layout; Robotic service. As I was leaving, a man, who I presume to be the manager, waved from a table at the back of the, otherwise empty, restaurant, and said goodnight. I would advise the management to take steps to present the restaurant as it should be perceived, namely a high quality venue, with delicious food and excellent service. Otherwise, sadly, it won't last long.

Pretty good but not a five. Nice clean restaurant with keen young staff. Short menu is a big plus for me. I had the lamb chops with a side of makani dhal and a paratha. Bread really good, dhal the star and I was a bit surprised how soon after ordering the chops appeared. They were a mixed bag. One butter soft, one a bit less but fine and one that didn't seem to have been marinated as well as the other two. A little surprised they weren't red hot either. Pretty good overall though.

Honestly, we were disappointed ! Having read such great reviews I was expecting more. Started with the softshell crab, which wasn’t crispy enough, and fried fish which was good but nothing special. Both the lamb gohst and chicken makhani were good but very rich without unlocking particularly exciting flavours. However, the portion sizes were very generous and relatively reasonably priced. The garlic naan was my highlight ! Even on bank holiday Sunday they were very strict with the 1.5hr table time as seemed well-booked out, so a booking is a must.

Met an old friend at Dalston Junction and this was the first place we happened upon. How lucky were we! The food was absolutely delicious and very obviously freshly prepared. We had the chicken curry, mini aubergines, tandoori prawns and garlic naan. All was amazing but the chicken dish was my favourite. The service was friendly and efficient. I hope to eat here again! Now my family have seen the website and the menu, I think it will be sooner rather than later!

Really good food, could not fault it, waitress was great and guided us through the menu and what we should have. The loss of star is a bit unfair from me but the coffee machine was out of order, so they were only almost perfect.

Enjoyed an excellent meal at Attawa last night. First time we’ve been to this restaurant but will definitely visit again. We ordered the Lamb biryani, Dhaal Makhni, Punjabi chicken curry, Amritsari Fish and Rotis. Everything done exceptionally well. If we could have eaten more, the Kulcha and Truffle Oil Naan have been next. Definitely on our list for the next order.

We visited as this restaurant cane up in the top 10 London Indian restaurants. The food presentation and portion size was decent. The waitress was polite but the service was a bit tardy. It could be as they seem to have a busy delivery service and it was a Friday. The use of tomato in the gravies was a tad much and the spices could be toned down a bit. Thankfully the salt was perfect. The pilau rice was unfortunately dry. I also noticed that the bill was overpriced for 2 out of the 5 items by £1.00 - not much for a bill of £40.00 but it would be best if it was checked and corrected. Sadly I will not return.

I ordered from here recently and whilst the food was really nice, I was most impressed with the communication from the restaurant in regards to my dietary requirements - after ordering the aloo tiki on Uber eats, I got a call from the restaurant to let me know it is cooked in the same oil as gluten containing items and was therefore not suitable for me as a coeliac - they were happy to replace with another dish instead. I really appreciated the fact that they went out of their way to call up and let me know!

I visited last night and I was left speechless. Food was so delicious, and so full of flavour that I discovered taste buds, I never knew existed. Without a doubt the best Indian restaurant in London. Customer service was awesome, great family run restaurant, and the story behind the name was beautiful. Looking forward to take my friends and family there. If I had to recommend a dish and a drink, although it is a tough choice, it would be the lamb chops and the old fashioned.

Average given the price. Nothing particularly bad, but given the price the food quality was about average and nothing really stood out as wow, as you would hope for somewhere charging £50/head. On the face of it the decor looks ornate and impressive, but actually when you looked closer the wood panelling looked tired, and in places may have had black mould on the edges of the mouldings. The atmosphere was also somehow cold and lacking warmth and class — it is possible this was due to a poor choice of lighting, mostly overhead and cold in temperature, and not enough side lighting and of a warmer colour temperature. It was also actually cold! It is not clear why the air conditioning would be on and set to such a low temperature in October. It was too cold for my 74 year old mother, but eventually they did provide a small space heater, which greatly improved things. The staff were friendly and helpful — i.e. with the space heater —and the manager honoured the price I was quoted online, which disagreed with the price in the menu in the restaurant.

Its closed. Thank heavens. Dirty place. Oily food. Hideous. Had a photo of Princess Diana in the window so as to lure in punters. In the photo Diana is running away from this place.

The idea is interesting, small plates but interesting and very well cooked. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable which is a very big plus. We've been a couple of times and will go again.

I had an incredible dining experience at Royal India in Covent Garden. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully authentic atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, making excellent recommendations tailored to our tastes. The food was truly exceptional—each dish was rich, flavorful, and expertly spiced, capturing the true essence of Indian cuisine. The butter chicken was silky and packed with flavor, while the biryani was aromatic and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, Royal India is a must-visit. This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in London, and I can’t wait to return!
