Having visited Nantwich for many years only found this place just recently. Really nice experience and whilst a little pricey it's worth it in my humble opinion!

Called at this place for a quick coffee and toast with a friend . Very old inside , dark and un inviting. Wasn’t impressed with the cheapest, thinnest slice of toast you could imagine at 75p per slice , what a rip off but the thing that topped it , was the £4.55 small cafetière, just about managed to fill my teacup . This works out at the dearest cup of coffee in Nantwich and there are quite a few coffee shops . Wasn’t impressed with this place plus we felt we’d had a frosty reception from the two elderly ladies at the till . Wouldn’t recommend as plenty more cafes serving better , cheaper coffee and toast !! 👎🏻

I dropped by today and purchased some Sausages. Trust me, these are the nicest sausages I have ever tasted. Well done!!

Not just a cafe, butchers and shop. It’s a nostalgic experience with a display of old shop fittings, items and food packaging from the good old days. Well worth a visit. The cafe and shop are lovely too.

My favourite place to visit for a beverage the old fashioned shop display at the front of the coffee shop area is like walking back in time to the Victorian era. A must to visit just for the display or for the delicatessen.

Visited for a light lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Had sandwiches and cottage pie. The food was delicious and very good value. Very traditional and charming decor. Worth visiting as a change from the typical coffee shops.

Food was lovely staff friendly and very helpful will be taking my friends there and go myself for lunch the baked potatoe on a Sat was lovely with fresh made salad bacon ,sausage it was lovely

What a surprise, a real hidden gem! Super deli which specialises in food memorabilia and goods I've never seen anywhere else - chocolate digestives with Galaxy choc, Staffs oatcake mix, unusual butchers, blancmange (not seen for years) all sorts of bottled & canned curiosities etc, etc and an old grocery display that harps back to early 20th century. if you do Christmas hampers, this is literally a one stop shop. The coffee house is great, lovely cakes, cafetieres of quality coffee, best pots of tea with china cups, interesting and tasty selection of lunch items, including cottage pie and home-made soups, proper old fashioned homemade. We also shared a raspberry & cream roulade which was to die for. Admitted, the service is a little eccentric, but it's all part of the charm, and it was quick and efficient once ordered. Not sure why some of the reviews on here, but the food's quality and you can't do that too cheap. We found it good value and will definitely go again when in Nantwich. We live in East Cheshire. This place deserves to be a popular tourist attraction. Nantwich has kept much of its original character, but has still suffered like other UK town centres with some of its oldest stores gone. We have to hope this hidden gem will not suffer the same way, I think Nantwich will miss this one if the recession hits it too.

Shame, used to be good. 3 sandwiches and a pot of tea £20. Rubbish sandwiches on cheap white bread with a mean filling. Salad OK but tired. No crisps ....

Visited this quaint deli and certainly brings back memories. These items I would be surprised to see in larger food stores. The tea is served in China cups ( what a treat) and of good quality. The food menu is very limited but we found at the time of eating to be good freshly cooked or prepared. A completely different premises to your typical coffee shop but one that is worth a visit.

Nipped in here for a late lunch, the staff couldn't be more pleasant or helpful. The food was great and we will definitely be back next time we are in Nantwich.

Walked into a butchers shop and found some really interesting food items on the shelves but the bigger surprise was seen when we were shown into the cafe area. Here we found a trip down memory lane with a display of goods, product signs from a time gone by. Our party only had teas and coffees which were very good and the staff helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed the short time there and would definitely return.

Shame as this is shop is a cornucopia of culinary delights but as soon as you enter the shop there is an unfriendly atmosphere. I don't expect grins and gaiety but a nice friendly welcome and goodbye would be a massive improvement. I want to support local shops but am put off everytime I visit this shop.

Have passed this shop/cafe a few times , and called in on a couple of occasions to eat , but they were very busy each time . I met a family member in Nantwich for lunch on this day in particular , and we were lucky to get a table this time . As you go into the cafe at the back of the shop , which has a wonderful selection of foods itself , you are transported back in time to what I can only describe as a wonderful museum of yesteryear shops , it really is worth a visit just for the museum itself , but the cafe was also a very pleasant experience . I nice uncomplicated menu , with some very tasty dishes , we were very satisfied with our lunch and the service, the desserts were a delight also, lemon meringue pie was yummy . I will return again soon , but will also be doing some grocery shopping next time , and sampling the coffees and deli food .

8 of us visited Nantwich in Cheshire as part of our stay at Alvaston Hall. We were looking for a morning coffee "stop Off" when we came across this little Butcher/grocer's window. We walked in and was directed through to the back of the shop, and the coffee aroma started to welcome us. What a surprise awaits when you get there. Great choice of coffee, served in a very pleasat manner.

Brilliant shop, great staff and products. Lovely gift ideas for foodies, stock things you never see elsewhere. Always friendly and helpful, long may they continue.

Lovely clean shop sells good meat, has a wide range of products, very interesting coffee shop at the back of the shop, bigger than you expect, and has a section which displays all sorts of historical grocery shop items. Also has a nice menu for lunch. It does however close quite early so check opening times before you travel.

This long established grocers has been part of the Nantwich story for years. Brilliant deli section, but the main joy is the ´oldie grocers shoppe ´at the back of the shop. An education for the younger generation - when items were sold in paper bags, hand wrapped bacon and cheese were a norm- and to take us older ones back to the pre supermarket age I know which I prefer.

A shop to take you back in time....some absolutely beautiful gifts, food and decorations. Bought a couple of wooden snowmen that had been made locally, they will be out on display every Christmas no doubt.There is a beautiful, nostalgic display of shops that have long gone, takes you back.The cafe is lovely and situated where you can see the displays.

I am secretary of RBL Nantwich Branch and would like to take this opportunity to thank Roger at Welch’s for hosting a RBL Coffee morning. He provided tea and coffee and lovely poppy cakes and mince pies and would not take a penny. All profits went to the Branch to help us continue with our good works. Thank you, does not seem enough for such a generous act we really appreciate it. ‍♂️

Hidden gem with butchers, fabulous shop with many products that you would not get elsewhere plus deli counter and hidden cafe at the rear coupled with fantastic olde world shop fronts - great shop with great produce and well worth a visit as you wouldn’t know it was anything special from the shop front.

I love to visit here for lunch whenever im in nantwich i just love the quaintness of the place and the fact that the grind and serve some of the best coffe around, Great place for sandwiches and jacket potatoes with a really good range of delicious cakes on offer.and on top of all that there is such a lovely museum to look at and it certainly brings back memories.it must be a lovely place to work as a large number of the ataff have been there for years.Always a place to take visitors from abroad for some local history and colour

Lovely little delicatessen that you could walk past and not realise. The meat counter is well stocked and well presented. The hi lite tho for me is the yesteryear coffee shop. Definitely worth a visit

Fantastic food at a reasonable price with outstanding service in a relaxing yesteryear environment. If you're in Nantwich, it really is well worth a visit.

The cakes and choice / quality of teas and coffees is excellent. The atmosphere is brilliant and for anyone visiting Nantwich (given that there are loads of places for tea & coffee) I'd say deinitely go here.

Called in for a late breakfast\brunch, its been a while since we have called in here , and found it as reliable as ever, two sausages the are made on the premises, bacon, egg and a tomato .

What a marvellous shop, cafe, museum. How delightful to go into a quality establishment for a change. Next time I’ll have lunch.

What an amazing shop! We tripped over it as we toured the streets of Nantwich and we were amazed by the range of "things you need that you didn't know you needed" ; snail shells, five sorts of mushroom sauce, two sorts of miniature tart cases - a real cornucopia. We didn't notice the cafe until we had done our shopping, but it was like a museum of groceries. Great fun!

I always look forward to a Cheese and Onion Toastie here as although a fairly basic snack ,the cheese is soo tasty and beautifully made . I am always tempted by their incredible patisserie selection and so today it was a Pear Frangipan ! I asked to take it home and that was no problem, as I was also induced by the new Lemon Drizzle Kit Kat. Tea is served here as it should be ,with flavour and China Cups that is so important if you like a proper cuppa.

Really enjoyed visiting this shop, found the shop very well stocked with quality produce helpful staff and the restaurant is very nice to visit with a good selection of food, can't praise the place enough, well done to you all.

Lovely setting at the bottom of a deli shop with displays of vintage food tins and signs ....but the woman serving didn't have a clue had to repeat my order 3 times to her and when the food came sandwiches and a toastie it was just average

I was in Nantwich many years ago and remembered this place which is extremely narrow and goes back and back from the street in a surviving example of a traditional Nantwich shop. As well as this experience they have loads of different foods from cooked and uncooked meat to cakes, cheese and jam. In fact it is easier to ask what they haven't got so why not give them a try. They are known as Austins (the current owners) but trade under the name A T Welch who were the previous owners. There is also an excellent cafe/coffee shop with food and drink at reasonable prices and a display of a historical shop and other items. We will certainly go back and it will be weeks rather than years this time.

The Selection and quality of their Cakes and Deserts in the Coffee Shop is outstanding. Real pity they cant showcase it more as it is as on a par with a Classic Patisserie in Paris .Gooseberry and Passionfruit Cheescake was beautiful 😍

Went into this shop looking for a cake and ended up walking through into a lovely cafe come museum - never visited anything similar and no indication of what to expect from the outside!. The service was good, the food excellent. The coffee was OK, but not really to my taste, but that is not so say that others would not love it. The main feature though is the display of an old grocery store with many examples of old packaging and Items I remember form childhood. A lovely idea and well worth a visit!!

Nice sandwich followed by coffee and cake. Lovely friendly staff especially Emma and Barbara. Recommended.

It was a delight to spend some time in this coffee shop come museum. The setting is wonderful and with all the old traditional shop produce from yesteryear around you, it was a real trip down memory lane. Although we only had a coffee and snack the produce available did look very good.

Knowing how limited Nantwich is for places that allow prams we asked in advance if it was ok. We were told it was but when we arrived at the cafe there was a sign stating no prams. We left the pram and took my baby into the cafe only to find out they don’t have high chairs. We decided to leave as it would not have been a relaxing meal without one. Not child/family friendly but from what I saw it seemed like a nice place to go if you don’t have babies or young children.

Having been in the deli a number of times late on a Saturday afternoon we went for lunch in the quirky coffee shop.

Unusual and interesting tea shop with lots to interest all ages. Great food, terrific selection of teas and coffees. Fresh food made to order, generous sandwiches, served swiftly and with care. Highly recommended.

On our visit to Nantwich we lunched at Welches great sandwiches,the shop is full of memorabilia from times gone by, very intresting.

every saturday morning i take the wife here for a coffee and a BLT sandwich.we love this place the coffee is lovely the BLT is excellent. the place has a lovely feel about it

Al entrar en el establecimiento son inmediatamente recibidos por una maravillosa selección de carnes frescas, acompañados por el personal acogedor. Hay una amplia gama de productos en oferta aquí, junto con inusual Compra de regalos. El mostrador de quesos es la boca. Además hay un café pequeño y encantador que ofrece una muy buena selección de platos ligeros hasta comidas completas, El café tiene un maravilloso despliegue de tiendas antaño esquina. Bien merece una visita, aunque es muy ocupada, así que puede que tenga que volver de nuevo.

A real treat to find this quirky old fashioned restaurant good old fashioned food in a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely pop in again!

Popped in for Lunch and had our favourite Toasties . Decided one more treat before January Diet and indulged in their trio Chocolate Cake. Wow...Never tasted anything as good!.... and I dont usually go for Chocolate. No wonder only one left !

Este café y delicatessen es único y encantador para visitar. Cuando entras por primera vez en que son recibidos por un personal amable en la zona de charcutería, donde puedes conseguir productos locales incluyendo un gran queso y avena mornflake. Hay una sorpresa que te espera en la parte trasera. Un viejo café del mundo con una selección de café muy sabroso, tés y pasteles! El entorno y el personal es muy acogedor y está un poco de un cambio de las cafeterías de la cadena, que en la mayoría de las ciudades. También es una empresa familiar. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Forgot how tasty their cheese and onion toastie is ! Beautiful cheese. Somehow they manage to make simple food so tasty. Stunning olde world 1920's original decor and shop.. A must visit in Nantwich.

Lovely quaint traditional family run butchers/deli/coffee shop. China tableware in the cafe & home cooked food with friendly staff. Cafe is a bit of a secret hidden behind the deli but well worth seeking out.

Aparecimos a lo que pensábamos era una pequeña tienda. Es sorprendentemente grande y tiene una cafetería en la esquina izquierda. Decidimos tomar bebidas y pasteles. La torta de zanahoria era preciosa, muy sabroso y ligero, otras tenían porción toblerone que realmente disfrutamos. El personal era amable y el servicio era bueno. La tienda/museo era genial abiertas climatizando por mirar varias cosas. Compramos unos obsequios en el camino de salida de la delicatessen que tiene una gran selección de Orkney tortas. Los precios eran de lo mejor que he visto, y hay una gran variedad de productos nuevos y viejos. Volveremos y tome cualquier visitantes tenemos a este café encantador.

Se entra desde la calle en lo que te puedes imaginar para ser una pequeña tienda. ¡Incorrecto! Puede ser estrecha, pero se extiende un largo camino de vuelta y una increíble variedad de alimentos, desde el suelo hasta el techo. Justo cuando piensas que has visto todo, hay otra zona para explorar. Aparte de todos los alimentos habituales y inusual, comestibles, hay un queso/deli contador y un mostrador de carnicería. Luego hay una sorpresa. Parte en la tienda, hay lo que parece ser una exhibición de museo de bygones. Ir y echar un vistazo, y te encuentras en un café de tamaño decente! No comimos allí, pero está en nuestra lista para volver. Toda una experiencia y sin duda tomar nuestros visitantes.

An interesting environment, as this cafe is partly old museum, so it was interesting for my Mum to look at the old packaging behind the glass windows. However, whether it was because we visited at the end of the day I don't know, but the staff were quite curt and were mopping the floor around us. If they need to shut up early to clean, they should not serve customers so close to closing time. We were a group of thre, obviously there for a chat, not a single person who wanted to down a quick cuppa and get on his way. I don't think being 'quirky' is sufficient these days when so many other places have friendly and helpful staff.

This is a place to go for quality Pork and sausages these are made fresh each day and you can watch them being made they are pure pork with nothing added these are wonderful this shop sells a good range of cheese and cooked meats the bacon is cut only to order so it's always fresh. The coffee shop is very special it has a yesteryear display of how shops used to look. no supermarket style here well worth a visit it serves a good selection of dishes all home made your tea or coffee is served in fine china cups and saucers what a joy to drink out off this a family owned and run by the fourth generation sons who continue to have pride in their shop the staff are very pleasent a shop well worth a visit

Go back to the old days and browse shelves of stuff you haven't seen for years. Deli & modern day offerings are excellent. Coffee shop is lovely, walk past the 'museum' as you enter. Prices very reasonable and cakes delicious.

Un viaje a Welch siempre es fantástico, una tienda bien surtida que vende cosas que ni siquiera sabía lo que quería. Mis favoritos para comprar son decapados nueces, abrumadora patés, saborear de caballeros y por supuesto salchichas!!! Visitar la tienda de café en la parte trasera y su visita es completa. Uno de joyas de NANTWICH!

Después de que nos cambiaron lejos de la zona hace 10 años estábamos tan contentos este cafetería/delicatessen es aún va después de todos estos años. Llamamos aquí el fin de semana pasado por un bocadillo y taza de té. Todavía va fuerte y tan bueno como siempre.

Visited here over many years, most recently for lunch. Both had bacon & eggs which was delicious & a pot of tea.

A little shop front with a huge heart!!, amazing shop with fresh & cooked meats, cheese counters and a brilliant selection of canned meats, fruits, olive oils etc, coffees, teas, buscuits, jams, sweets and so much more, takes you back over the decades with so many old names and products, well worth a visit, some very interesting gifts for any celebration. To the back of the shop is a brilliant coffee/tea shop I believe selling snacks, the entrance to the cafe has a mock old shoppe interior as they were 100 years ago, some great products to remind you of your youth!.

Good quality food and an enjoyable old world experience. Interesting setting of past days. The staff here are most personable. I enjoy visiting.

A nice café and delicatessen BUT the jewel is the old fashioned shop that is within the café area.... you can spend quite a while "seeing" all those old boxes and tins that were so common during your childhood

Lo que un gran lugar para visitar. Fuimos para el desayuno con los amigos y la comida era muy buena incluyendo un montón de productos locales. La cafetería está en la parte trasera de un antiguo delicatessant anticuada y tiene un montón de productos asombrosos. Hay una muestra de antiguas mercancías en la parte de atrás que trae recuerdos de mi infancia. El personal era muy amable y buen aspecto antiguo .

Tienes que mirar para "en Welch" escrito en un desayuno continental ciego por encima de sus pequeños tres cuartas partes persiana metálica camino Hospital Street a la izquierda. La tienda está a no más de 8 pies amplia y dispone de un cerdo carnicerías mostrador en la zona frontal que todavía sirve corte local fabulosa de bacon en una antigua slicer rojo tradicional. La tienda se remonta a hace unos 100 pies y bombardea sus sentidos como entras más profundamente en él con todo tipo de olores maravillosos. Café, chocolate, especias, galletas, delicias continentales. Lo que probablemente te dieron! Luego, en el otro extremo hay un umbral a "antaño Café de Austin" es toda una sorpresa. De repente estás buscando en la ventana de 1900 a 1950 supermercado abastecido con nombres del pasado. Oxo , Huntley y palmeras, Hovis, muchos otros de Jacob's y ya no están. mágico! La sorpresa no concluye allí como la tienda te lleva hacia la cafetería salón de té donde se puede beber de una selección de té y café - un mundo lejos de la "cadena de café" dishwater. Prueba un mejor el desayuno de la casa, bacon, huevos, salchichas -tomate incluye una pequeña taza de té- China taza y al platillo - tostadas, mantequilla o uno de las muchas otras comidas y tentempiés. Encantador!

Íbamos en bicicleta desde Ceriog Glyn sean cuales sean las condiciones meteorológicas a media mañana y una cervecería. Me dejó muy joven en la calle, pregunté dónde el mejor café era en NANTWICH y dijo aquí. Los seis de nosotros nos recibieron con entusiasmo y nuestras bebidas y pasteles rápidamente y enviado. Todos eran muy apreciado. Gracias. Resultó que trabajaba allí! Es genial que pensó que era el mejor!

Stopped for tea & fabulous cake - a must place to visit if you are in Nantwich. Very traditional with an interesting mock grocery shop which takes you back to your youth (thats if you happen to be over 60)

What a quaint place to visit - you have to walk through the traditional deli/grocery shop before entering this wonderful place. Interesting museum type shoppe - drinks served in proper china cups a good place for a real conversion....no Wifi

Not the most obvious place to find, but once you know where to find it, it is well worth a visit. Unique surroundings a museum to food, pleasant staff and value for money food

Nos metimos en justo antes de la hora de cierre pero el personal era todavía encantador y amable.

Mantener todo lo que es bueno sobre una tetería tradicional. Hay una variedad suficiente de tés, cafés, pasteles, tartas, bocadillos y comidas más grandes. Todo esto es servido por un personal muy amable en un interesante diseño ambientado en una tienda de abarrotes tradicional. Realmente disfruté el desayuno y mi esposa y yo lo disfrutamos ella bocadillo tostado. La tetería está en la parte trasera de una tienda de ultramarinos real que está lleno de productos locales y alimentos interesantes de todo el mundo. Sin duda merece la pena una visita, si quieres un cambio de las cafeterías típicas de cadena. Hay un interesante signo desvergonzadamente que anuncia "no tenemos acceso Wi-Fi. Hablan entre sí" - una buena idea, relajarse y disfrutar.

un montón de objetos antiguos en esta antigua/cafetería fashiond encantadora de té. Había una buena selección de platos livianos en oferta, pero si queríamos comidas más grandes también avvailable. Gran selección de tés y cafés.puede fácilmente perderse ya que está en la parte trasera del deli en frente, pero bien woooorth encontrar!

Antaño Coffee Shoppe/ "museo" - luz de ultramarinos de mini para llevar, desde recién cortadas, caseras, bocadillos fríos y calientes y sándwiches tostados de bandejas de ensalada de patés y quesos de lujo. Menú caliente incluye favoritos tales como lasaña, cottage pastel y, por supuesto, un desayuno inglés completo o salchichas y puré utilizando nuestras propias famosas salchichas. Es un lugar inusual, abierto sólo durante el día, nada interesante pero bastante básico - más quitaría su encanto. Buena comida a un precio razonable. Muy concurrido a la hora del almuerzo, así no dejar demasiado tarde.
