Me and my husband had the ultimate breakfast. I thought it was the small breakfast 2 tiny sausages some piggy tasting bacon a spoonful of beans 4 mushrooms 4 hashbrown tots and out of date brown sauce. Complained to the manager whom apologised and admitted the breakfast wasn't very big and wouldn't fill her. It's was dry and tasteless. Will not be returning. Save your money and go elsewhere. Very disappointed and overpriced. Will not be returning.

Service is very good, place is clean and tidy with a good atmosphere and food is always very nice. First breakfast we’ve had here and it was good. Mushrooms weren’t the best as tasted a bit rubbery but the bacon, pigs pudding and sausage were great quality and cooked well.

Ordered the garden breakfast, the bacon was hardly cooked as was the sausage. Edible just but definite bit as shown in the photos. My daughter had a scone which she said was very “doughy”. Grandson would not eat his sausage either as again hardly cooked. Overall very disappointing

Went to the cafe today. On entrance not much choice of food. We both chose garlic chicken and bacon baguette. When we got to the table there was a menu with other things on. These would be better on display at the entrance. When it came it was very long with garlic butter dripping from it. The chicken was hard to find and about 4 ribbons of bacon. Was expensive as well. Definately not worth it. I must say the coffee was absolutely gorgeous though even if a small cup compared to other places. Couldn't have a dessert as they were on an open shelf where customers were coughing and breathing all over them.

We usually got to the local county pub for breakfast but fancied a change. My and my went to the cafe for a full breakfast. At our normal breakfast venue we get, sausage, bacon, beans, egg, hash brown, mushrooms, black pudding with toast and a drink of your choice. I usually have a latte. All for £5.95. Yes I know bargain. At this cafe went for the gardens breakfast which is the smaller version or should I say minuscule. Sausage, bacon, egg and beans. Plus a piece of toast. Drinks were extra total £16.30 which two filter coffees. Terrible value for money. See photo.

Full menu not available on way in..so selected scone, pot of jam,cream..and requested tea..and selected a cake separately…it appears that if I do not use the words cream tea..£4.75…and the cake£2.65..you get charged £8.55..did not realise this until I sat down and checked the menu..these are very petty and greedy money making tactics..so be aware if you select the ingredients of an obvious cream tea,you get charged correctly..there was a queue when I left and put it down to experience..will not be using this cafe again..very poor…

This is the last time I use this cafe and establishment. For the second time now in a week a cafe staff member has been so rude and bad mannered. I am going Name her because it’s not on. Evie is the most miserable young lady I’ve come across here and rude and no manners at all. No please or thank you nothing at all. I’m sick of coming to this place and having to mention the conduct of the staff in the cafe and other areas. It’s gotten to the point now this is my last visit for good. Today was the last straw for me in that cafe and that young girl needs replacing she’s horrendously bad mannered and I’ve seen it with other customers. From the manager to the staff this place has got worse

We visited Astbury garden centre restaurant last Sunday 13/11/22. We had reserved a table for 2pm. My husband and I were taking my 93 year old Mum out for lunch. We queued for approximately 10 minutes which wasn’t a problem but when we reached the till we were told that they were no longer serving meals. I explained that I’d reserved a table for the three of us and if they weren’t making meals why hadn’t they had the decency to let us know. We did sit down with just a cup of coffee and then noticed that fish and chips and sandwiches were been served to various people around us. We had not been offered any food at all so were very surprised at what was happening. We’ve been customers of Astbury garden centre for many years and are absolutely disgusted at how we were treated last Sunday. I think it will be a long time coming before we go back. Extremely disappointed. Dianne & Terry

My husband and I visited the restaurant for lunch along with our dog. There was a short wait for a table as it was a busy sunny day, but the pager system used meant that we could start to look around the shop whilst waiting. When the pager sounded, we returned to the restaurant and our table was ready for us. There was even a water bowl for our dog.We used the online app to order and pay for our food, which was quick and easy. Staff were also taking orders and payment at the table if asked. Considering that the restaurant was busy, there was not a long wait for food and when it arrived we were not disappointed. I am vegetarian and I was spoiled for choice by the menu on offer, which does not happen often. I ordered the squashage roll with a side order of chips, which was very tasty. It also came with a nice fresh side salad. My husband ordered fish and chips, which was excellent and a generous portion. We both wanted a pudding but could not fit one in after our meal. As it was a lovely day, we sat and chatted and ordered more drinks though the app before later ordering puddings. The staff did not mind us staying. We ordered two chocolate cakes which were fresh and fantastically tasty, again with a good portion size. The staff were very conscientious with regards to social distancing and sanitisation whilst also being polite, friendly and helpful. We will certainly be visiting again for another relaxing lunch and so that I can try more of the menu.

Sorry to say, hard to find anything positive. Quality didn’t meet price - e.g. watery gravy, dried out meat, roast potatoes and ‘gourmet’ chips were burnt and sodden in fat; tasteless curry. Glass dirty. Burnt onion slices in the mayonnaise. Service sloppy (one waitress had dirty overalls). Dessert brought out before main. Felt out of touch. Only positive was good sized portions. When I first reveiwed this cafe a number of years ago I gave it , deservedly, five stars.Unfortunately I have to now mark it down considerably.I have been in twice since the recent reopening and been dissapointed on both occaisions.First time was for breakfast. There is now only one choice of plated breakfasts. Before there was small one consisting of bacon, egg, sausage and beans all for about £3.50. This was enough for most customers I thinkNow they only do a large one which is about twice the size with black pudding, mushrooms etc and charge £9.95 for it.I ordered it any way and it would have been easier to use a steak knife to cut the bacon and saugage they were that overcooked. The second time was for lunch, Again the choice was more limited than it used to be. Again I was rather shocked at the prices. As I had sat down and was ready for something to eat I ordered the fish finger sandwich at the princely sum of £8.95 . This consisted of two not very large fish fingers with as much batter as fish and somewhat swamped by the bread and a bit of side salad. In general the food seemed much to dear - another example was a sausage roll for £5.95 again with just a bit of side salad.I tend to use garden centres to eat quite a lot as normally they are reasonably priced due to the fact they are primarily selling things for the garden. This is no longer the case here and I will be avoiding it in future for both eating and items for the garden.

My daughter wanted to surprise her nan, adopted nan and myself for mothers day, she had arranged an afternoon at famous pottery company for us to have afternoon tea and decorate our own pot, they sadly let her down at the very last minute, she asked ne if I could think of anywhere more local to us and I suggested Astbury as I had noticed they had Afternoon tea on their menu! Oh my lord, the best decision we made! On arrival I spoke to a lady and asked about the afternoon tea, she said she could recommend it and that we wouldn't be disappointed, the lady continued to tell us that they had no scones made but they could make some whilst we had tea and sandwiches and the other cakes. I said it was fine but the ladies were very very accommodating and made us feel like nothing was to much trouble! The food arrived and Wow it was beyond tasty, ham, cheese, tuna, egg mayo sandwiches, cream cheese on soft ciabatta, crackers with Stilton and 3 yes 3 portions of cake Each!! "people around us were looking on in awe as we're we!! After around 10 minutes the scones arrived (we had forgotten about these at this point) and they were freshly baked, still warm served with pots of cream and jam! After attempting to eat all the sandwiches we all managed one cake each, I chose to have my scone and it was exquisite!!I have had afternoon tea at a local AA restaurant and this one was 100 times better, beautifully presented by friendly, happy, staff in a lovely atmosphere, I can not recommend highly enough! Most definitely will be returning but not for a few days One very happy daughter who was able to treat he mum and nan and adopted nan and was able to treat is just as she wanted to

THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE TOPIARY CAFE - NOT THE GARDEN CENTRE.I visited here with my parents for lunch on 27th December. Arriving around 11.45. this was just getting towards the end of the breakfast period. To be fair, the breakfasts looked plentiful and well cooked - however as we were too late to have a breakfast, we had to wait until 12pm for the lunchtime menu. This was displayed on a large board by the entrance. Now, there must have been a sale on at the local fish monger, as practically every dish was a fish dish with a coupe of exceptions. Now, I have a problem with fish, so my choice was limited to two. A meat pie, which didn't appeal or a Breakfast Ciabatta. Remembering how good the breakfasts looked, I took this option.Bear in mind that this "meal" cost £8.50! When it arrived, I was presented with a small Ciabatta bread, approx 5 inches long, (the sort you can buy 4 of from Tesco for £1) and was VERY doughy - this had 1 small rasher of bacon, 1/2 of a sausage, a few very small slices of tomato and a copious amounts of black pudding wedged into the bread. There was no mention of the black pudding on the menu and I HATE BLACK PUDDING! There was also a couple of tablespoons of baked beans and what was supposed to be chips - these were basically very large and chuncky potato wedges that had been fried. Now I wanted to complain, but the staff had mysteriously disappeared and having travelled a way to get there, I made do. If we weren't required to pay beforehand, I'd had refused to pay that amount for such a tiny dish.Lots of other visitors were also complaining to each other about the amount of fish on the menu and the lack of alternative choices.Frankly, I'm livid about this but was persuaded not to make a fuss by my elderly mother as she just wanted to leave. Will I return, not for another meal, once bitten - twice shy.

We have visited this garden centre on numerous occasion, as it has an excellent variety of everything too numerous to mention,The shop is good, large variety of gifts cookware clothes books & garden furniture along with accessories. There is a outside area which have a great display of plants & the staff are very knowledgeable; there is a large car park with disabled parking. The restaurant is very roomy and comfortable, with an outside patio with seating area for the summer months (weather permitting). A good selection of food on the menu and a "specials board" for other choices, prices very reasonable. A good selection of cakes at the counter, all very tempting, we chose a pot of tea for two and scones which were scrumptious and quite filling, very enjoyable afternoon.

We have visited many times & never tire of visiting both browsing & eating . The standard of food is consistent but it can get quite busy as it is a popular place . The dining room is a large open plan room & there is outside eating which is lovely in the summer. There is a " specials " board as you enter the dinning room . It is not waitress service but they do bring the hot food.

Food and coffee was OK but the staff were lovely:) I thought it was a little over priced given the quality of the food but the cakes looked better (we had breakfast). Easy to park and not far from Congleton.

Preciosa zona ventilado restaurante relajado. La comida era realmente buena preciosa. Personal amable y eficiente. Encantador para una taza de café y un pastel o una comida ligera. Limpio y bien dirigido. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Been to astbury many times before but will not be going again.Went into the restaurant for lunch, mistake number 1.Ihad the haddock and chips, they used to be big and chunky and served in a wire basket.Yesterdays offering was far from appealing. For £8.50 I had a thin fish and grossly overcooked chips that tasted like dried out cardboard. Will not be going again.

I was given two gift vouchers for afternoon tea at Astbury garden centre, so my wife and I along with my sister and brother in law went for the tea.we fist visited the garden centre and spent quite a long time as it has a vast area and it has lot's and lot's of goods on offer.then we went into the restaurant for our tea,we were given a slate plate that was full up with sandwiches and cakes etc, also a pot of tea each.I can normally finish off a plate, however, this one beat me and all of us, and we each had a box to take home the remainder.a very enjoyable day and great food and service.thanks to all the staff.Mr.D.C.Williams.

We have been here many times over the years but have noticed the quality on our visit yesterday has got to the point that we will not be returning to be served such poor food again. The afternoon tea looked sad and unappetising as if it had beem made a long time in advance the scone was flowery tasted of cheap margarine and had I don't know what in the middle. Sandwich filling cheap and dry bread. Pot of tea OK. Cakes were not up to much. What a shame.

Had the afternoon tea and it was horrible. Its back to the drawing board for the chefs as great improvements are needed.Scone was hard and sawdust dry.Premade with jam and cream but no butter ! Little pot of jam and cream and butter should be served with the tea so customers can do their scones how they like.Other cakes not very nice.I will not be visiting here again.

Having been to Astbury Garden Centre many times over the years, I decided to call here with a friend after a trip to Cheshire. The garden centre itself has grown from what it was originally, with a better range of flowers etc than ever before and not particularly expensive. However, the cafe is much to be desired.£2.20 for a bottle of Fanta. Glasses in the fridge were filthy. The girl who served us had no manners whatsoever and her hair was hanging over everything. Tables were cleared quickly, but the floors were absolutely disgusting with tissues and food all over the carpet. The kitchen seemed hectic and you could here the staff shouting as they went in and out, not good for customers standing waiting to be served. It is nowhere near as nice as it used to be.

3rd time for afternoon tea but will be the last!!! Only good thing was the actual tea - hot and strong. The cakes were dry. The scone had been premade and stored in a fridge, hence it was dry and not fresh. The jam and cream should be served seperate. Also, butter should be available. Imagination is needed with presentation - eg...salad garnish with the sandwiches etc. At £9.95 each you expect better than what you get.

Don't go here if you are expecting a good meal. They used to do a very nice quiche cut as a wedge from a larger tart, served with a decent salad and bread. But not now! The quiche now is a small individual tart (soggy bottoms r us) with very little filling, served with a little salad, some rather unappetising pink coleslaw and cous cous that was still grainy. Chips were very dark brown, yet uncooked in the centre and soggy. We complained to a young waitress but no one from the 'management' came forward with any apology.

The restaurant at the garden centre on this particular visit, a lunchtime on a Thursday, was very disappointing. The staff on the counter had average customer service, teacups were passed to us by the member of staff with her fingers in the cup rather than by the handle, that is after we asked if we could have our tea (we ordered it and the girl stood still simply not moving). Lunch were ok, but I felt too expensive for ok, (£5.99 for a toastie), the butter served with the toast had been served melted and therefore useless. We hoped the day would be saved by the pot of tea, yes it was, only to be let down by the dry coffee and walnut cake which we couldn't eat. While the setting is what we expected the quality just wasn't there.

Called in today and decided to have lunch, yes it was busy but i think this is how good it is,no there wasn't a bus outside ,plenty of staff on and yes a wait for food but definitely on par with some restaurants i have been in.we had the hunters chicken and was amazed at the size and well cooked the dish was thoroughly enjoyed it and by the look of the empty plates around us everyone was well fed and satisfied. They do afternoon tea which again looked amazing with a variety of cakes ,by the way i never saw the tray bake sponge as a previous reviewer posted.overall i would return to this cafe/restaurant 5 stars from me well done

My husband and I had lunch here yesterday. We got onto the cafe before it became really busy the two young lads serving were clearly struggling but doing there best despite a clear lack of staff and support from anyone senior and no clean trays available. Our order number was mixed up with another - no big deal this happens. Tried to get cutlery and salt but there were none available myself and another lady informed an older blonde lady who eventually brought us a couple of sets (by this point our food was sat on the table going cold) I had asked for the bacon and sausage on my roll to be well cooked, both were pale and cold. I then notice a patch of MOLD on my bread roll. I immediately got up and ran to the toilets to be sick. My husband tried and failed for over 10 mins to speak to someone about this. We left disgusted and just under £20 out of pocket.

Called at the garden centre for coffe and cake. Coffee lovely. Cake was a stale sponge traybake. Not good. On reflection I should have taken it back but for the queue . One young man left to fend for himself on the till and making coffee at the same time. He was very pleasant under the circumstances but needed help! Queues were backing up.

Lovely breakfast but why the greenery? Doesn't really go with a cooked breakfast. Rest of the meal was lively as ever and staff were great, service with a smile as always.

My friend introduced me to astbury garden centre around years ago. I have been on a number of occasions on different days with different people. The food is consistently good if not great. The presentation is fabulous, the service is very friendly. I tend to go with my toddler and 6 month old. You have to choose your table wisely if you have a push chair as not to get in the way. The place gets very busy at early lunch time. I have selected mainly things off the menu but I must say that these are my favourites:-Soup and a sandwichSweet potato friesPretty much an cake or pudding as they are all fab. I have sampled the soup on a number of occasions it is home made tastes lovely and is hot. I normally opt for the ham sandwich which has lovely ham in it.The children's lunch meal deal is lovely comes well presented my little one opts for the sandwich, which comes with crisps, vegetable sticks and a baby bell. Also a drink. The only thing that may put people off is the walk to the toilet is a little far. I personally do not think it's a problem, my potty training toddler does not either. Try the place it's fab the food comes out hot and fresh and taste fab.
