Anyone can confirm is there any HALAL food options? because I didn't see anything written anywhere

The food was tasty, the lemonade was flat, and the waiters kept circling around the table. It was very off-putting, and I felt like we were being rushed so they could close up at 9:30 p.m., which I noticed when I checked my watch.

Good food, but not many other customers dining in. Possibly because it was an exceptionally hot stifling day.

Food is great but service is a little patchy. Not enough choice for vegetarian or vegan and new food was tipped on top of old food in the warmers.

Restaurant & food is top class! However when phoning the Restaurant for a home delivery, communication is terrible, couldn't understand me although I spoke slowly & clearly, ended up ordering elsewhere 🙄

Ate here tonight for special Wednesday night menu. Website specifies £14.95 for special, but on arrival it was £16.95. Other customers were commenting on this also. This needs to be updated on website. Bought two bottles of Lager, one was cold, one was warm and I needed to add ice to be able to drink it. Having said that overall the food was tasty and well presented. Good portion sizes. Would eat here again, but other Wednesday night specials such as Reading Tandoori offer better value for money.

We decided to give Asian Spice a try, as its been a while since we have had a meal from them. So we ordered two King prawn butterflies - which although they were a reasonable size, they were extremely thin and the breadcrumbs coating was rock hard. This was followed by Chicken Malaya (Cooked with pineapple), however when it says on the menu cooked with pineapple, what they actually mean is a whole pineapple ring, which wasn't even cut up. I must say we was extremely disappointed with the takeaway menu and will not be ordering from them again !

Visited on a Wednesday night and whilst the food wasn’t bad the service is far from friendly. With the amount of reviews that mention this you would think that someone would address this but alas not. Tilehurst is not short of Indian restaurants and all offer a much better level of service than Asian Spice. Won’t be returning in a hurry.

Sunday Buffet. I had to request that Samosas & Onion Bhaji be brought out to the buffet, the staff were only bringing a few out at a time so in effect limiting what diner’s could eat. Chicken was poor quality in the dishes on offer. Staff hover too closely yet do not maintain constant availability of all dishes?

I always enjoy my take aways from here and the service is always good 😊

Food great and good size portions, having a free drink after the meal with a mint is nice. The only thing where they let themselves down is after the main meal, they no longer remove the top tablecloth to make it cleaner. Last time I was there they did. As they wash both table cloths afterwards I cannot see why they have changed this practise, it only takes a minute. Perhaps it is to encourage you to go quicker?

Went to the Happy Wednesday buffet- lovely food and great value however I now understand why. We paid £6 for a pint of lime and soda and £3.20 for 2 poppadoms! Cannot fault the food as was delicious but the cost of the poppadoms and lime and soda seemed a bit steep!

We celebrated my daughters 18th at Asian Spice this week, excellent service, price and the food was just outstanding.

Having decided that we should try the recommended Asian Spice restaurant (with take away option) we ordered starters of Prawn Bhuna and Onion Bhajis with main courses comprising of Lamb Badam Passanda and a Lamb Bhuna with fragrant pilau rice and the obligatory keema nan. Now we were not expecting it to be fantastic but as we were recommended we thought it would be of a level that would equate to the area. Sadly we were disappointed. The biggest challenge and culprit was the lamb in the two main dishes. The were both very tough and although we know the style of cooking is to add a sauce to the meat this is not really an issue if the meat is tender. This was not the case. On the positive side the sauces of both dishes were good and flavoursome, the rice was good. The keema nans were not of a full meaty quality that we have become accustomed to and that several of the local Asian restaurants have mastered much better. The onion bhajis were OK . Key question... Did we still finish the meals, no. On a positive, the order was ready promptly in 25 mins for collection and the staff were very polite and professional and the pricing was very reasonable with the discount included for collection. Had we been in the restaurant we would of course have provided the feedback and the experience but as it was a takeaway we did not make a call back in. Our reference point is it a swap and would we order again? Sadly the answer at this stage is a no as the meat quality was just not up to a standard and there are other options in the area that will have us return first.

Table for 6 on Saturday evening. OK, it wasn't very busy but we all thought our various meals were fantastic. And the waiters were friendly and helpful.

Me and a couple of friends went on a Wednesday evening and went for the The Happy Night Menu. This was my first visit to Asian Spice it won't be my last. The food was delicious and for £14.95 you can choose any starter, any main, any side and rice or naan

I first visited the Asian Spice on a friends recommendation. The experience and the food was amazing. I live in Spencer’s Wood and make the journey nearly every Friday night. My friends think I’m mad for traveling to Tilehurst when we have some more local. Sadly the Indian restaurants/Take always locally don’t even come close to this place. The thing I like the most is it’s consistent and that’s key when you are a regular.

Lovely food it’s the only Indian we use great friendly staff.

The customer seems to be an inconvenience

On arrival the waiter was very abrupt and asked us several times about ordering popadums and drinks before we had sat down. Slow to take orders, did not ask if we wanted more drinks and we felt rushed to leave. It was not busy there with only 3 other tables being used. Will not be going back again.

Best Indian in the area..my favourite..

First time ordering a takeaway for many years, overall I was happy, it was delivered very quickly, all piping hot, poppadoms, rice & naan all to a good standard, only down side was no sauce to dip poppadoms in but there was a onion salad which was lovely, the chicken tikka pieces in the curry were ‘slightly’ dry other than that it was great and will be ordering again.

So the food was lovely Wednesday banquet one of the best we have had in a long time. But oh my goodness the service was awful through stuff on the table sighing if you asked for stuff. It is a real shame because all you need is a smile when serving to make it all right

I had a takeaway prawn masala with some Bombay potatoes and a garlic naan bread. They added a poppadom. The price was reasonable. The food was a bit bland, lacking the heat and balance of spices that I expect. The restaurant looks clean and well decorated. The staff were pleasant and I would eat here again because it is local.

Group of 4 of us ate on a Tuesday evening. The food is okay, but quite bland. Portion size is okay, but not on the generous side. The price is okay, but not cheap.

Excellent food, the best sunday buffet in the area. Really nice staff and a great menu to eat in or take away. Just started taking the kids to the buffet and there's plenty choice for them to enjoy. Our most recent visit they had vegetable biryani which was amazing🙂

Second time here 1st time was better than the 2nd visit. Came with friends for the £14.95 buffet This time food didn't seem as good as the first. Staff seem rude

As a family we go every week on a sunday to an indian buffet, 2 adults and twins 18 mths each week we choose a different restsurant but this week decided to go to Asian Spice where we visited 3 weeks ago. On entry no one else was in there we asked for a table and 2 high chairs, they said they have not got 2 then when we said we was leaving they said they have and produced 2 high chairs both with broken straps. Anyway we ordered drinks and the buffet and poppadoms and everything was fine until we asked for the bill, when this arrived we noticed we had been charged for 1 child even though they had not eaten or had plate etc we duly challenged the waiter who called the owner over he said that rising costs means he had to charge for 1 child we asked for it to be removed and he tried to explain that because we were taking up restaurant space and rising costs he hsd to charge. We further challenged him and he decided to remove it. We have never had this experience before and as we advised him we eat every sunday at an indian buffet, we also told him his A board outside says under 10s free We will not revisit this restaurant again or also order a tske away, we love indian food but this was not a good experience. Told my son in law who orders from here as he has a big family and he ssid he will no longer use this resrsurant Overall what should have been a pleasant meal was ruined by this

This review is not about the food which is passable, there are better Indian restaurants in the area. I visited with friends and although most of the staff are OK there is one older gentleman serving who as soon as we had finished our meal brought the bill and asked if we were paying cash or card, we said card, he straight away brought the card reader and said are you putting service on the card, we said no we will leave cash. We felt we were being rushed into paying, almost as if we weren't trusted. This waiter then went to sit and have his meal but kept looking over, as soon as we put our tip on the table he stopped eating, came over took the tip and put it in his pocket and went to finish his meal. He wasn't our main server but looks like he was keeping our tip. It left us with a nasty feeling. I thought he was very rude the way he was acting. It's a shame as the other waiters seemed nice. I won't be going back.

There is absolutely no spice in this restaurant. All made as per English taste with cream and they all taste similar.

I really like the food here and they do good deals on certain nights. I also frequent some of their competitors but the food at Asian Spice was spot on when I visited on Wednesday.

Sharing my nightmarish experience at this restaurant which I visited last night with my family and friends after making a table reservation earlier in the day.My son was served a mango juice in a glass bottle which had a crack and upon bringing this to the notice of the restaurant management they reluctantly exchanged it. Upon placing an order for the main course we were appalled when the owner of the restaurant told us each person had to order a set meal worth 13 pound each and this included my our kids who were under 8 years old.He moaned about how he had to cover restaurant costs such as rent,pay salaries etc,, Never before did we encounter such an ordeal which left a sour taste in our mouth.The portions of food served at the restaurant were tiny and the food tasted bland.Would give them 0 stars if I could.Needless to say never visiting this place again and would never recommend it to my acquaintances.

It’s ok, but curries are too sweet for my taste and the meat wasn’t tender last time we ordered. Seems a bit more like a curry house for English people (sweet and not hot), which if you like that, it’ll be great, just not for me.

I have been eating at your restaurant since they was a small takeaway only and today I was very upset. We ordered the food and drinks, my wife’s fruit juice had large lumps of Mold in the glass which she noticed after taking a drink from it. When I brought this to the young waiters attention all I got was a “oh I will get you another” we said no just a bottled water thinking that was a safe option till again my wife took a drink and on the bottle lid it said 21/2/21water was out of date by 6 months !!! Again No sorry and the young guy took 1.80 off the bill … So so disappointed with how that was handled and hidden away from the boss … as the bottle was left on the table but the bottle top was taken and put in the bin very quickly This really ruined the whole meal for us as we was then doubting the food and the prawns not being cooked in the prawn cocktail (which looked raw to me), was the chicken cooked ? Also the website stated all staff wear face masks … not the case and staff where shaking customers hands and no sign of hand washing or sanitizer used !!! I am sorry to bring this up as like I said we have been a long time customer but sadly after that we will have to look for somewhere new.

AVOID!! All they are interested in is dealing with takeaway orders. We waited over an hour for our meal which was mediocre at the very best. Some of the staff were very unfriendly and there was absolutely no customer service as they never asked if we wanted more drinks etc. There are better places to have an Indian meal in Reafing@@

We have eaten here before and the food and service was always excellent. Not this time however. It took nearly an hour for our meal to arrive once it was ordered which was very poor. The food was ok once we got it. It appeared to me that the 'take away' customers orders were receiving much more attention than our order, and the focus seemed to be on not keeping any 'take away' customers waiting at the front of the restaurant if they could help it. Sorry that this is not a glowing report....

Wonderful food 1st class service

Incredibly sweet curries which all taste the same with varying amounts of heat or sourness. the lamb pathiya tasted like coconut jam with chilli powder. Meat as tough as old boots. Onion and brinjal bhajis were so bland all I could taste was grease. Not nice.

Great food and prices not bad either.

We haven't visited this restaurant for some years so thought we would try it again. Very disappointed as the food was not of good quality and every dish tasted the same. This was the reason why we stopped going before. Lovely setting and the service was ok.

This was my first visit. A great vegetarian selection and what I liked most is that they actually put lots of nice vegetables in the dish. The restaurant is very clean and so are the rest rooms. This is my new go to take away!

Always a nice Indian but not one of the staff had their noses in their masks!! There is no point of wearing one if you have your nose hanging out!!

Good Indian taste, and cheap price with a good service! They are really really kind. Really clean restaurant also bathroom was clean. Hope to go another time.

Haven't sat in for a meal for a while, it didn't disappoint. Excellent food, good service and although very busy we felt safe as safety measures were in place.

We ordered a takeaway as a special treat and was delighted with all the dishes and sundries which was delivered very promptly. Very tasty and hot - we had no complaints at all and will definately use again.

My family have been ordering from Asian Spice for years and we've never had a bad experience. Both takeaway and dine in options are brilliant - along with the buffet.

This has been my regular Tilehurst curry house for years.It has really good curries and a great atmosphere.

También están encantados de aconsejar sobre platos si hay personas en el grupo que no están familiarizadas con la variedad de platos indios. La comida es muy sabrosa y siempre de alto nivel. Lovely restaurant and service but dry chicken in all dishes. Lots of choice so this was a shame so wouldn’t recommend the buffet on a Sunday evening....perhaps when it opens at 1pm ?

Had a lovely evening with friends here, staff were attentive and the food was lovely, everything was freshly cooked, very reasonably priced. Would definitely come again.

A pleasant, clean and tidy restaurant with friendly staff. They offer a very wide range of different dishes that all look delicious.

I booked 20 spaces for a group of friends, a few weeks ago. The numbers crept up to 31. I called in with the preorder, a few days ago. Wednesday is happy night. A starter, main, side, rice or naan and coffee.£12.95. The menu choices were efficiently checked. I was asked if two sets of tables together, would be okay.We all arrived at 7pm. I had requested that folk buy their drinks from the bar, to save any arguments over the bill later. I collected the food money in. Our starters came table by table. They were delicious. Then with a little break, the main course etc arrived. Again gorgeous flavours. Coffee was served to those who wanted it. We were able to circulate within our group, with out disturbing other diners.A really successful evening - great food, lovely restaurant, attentive service.We will return Many thanks.

Our starters were good, although the mutton was chewy, you can ask for lamb i guess. The popadom were fresh, the garlic nan were good.

We ordered takeaway, set menu for 2. Lots of food, good value and tasted great. Will definitely try eating in the restaurant next time.

Cheap but very average quality (Sunday buffet)!

Very poor, service was not good and we ordered 3 cokes which were flat then returned them and when returned they were flat as well so settled for tap water . Chicken wings were dry. And not a great selection on offer overall very disappointed even poppadoms we asked for 4 but got 8 and they were overcharged

One of my favourite restaurants & take away. Always good quality food & the buffet on a Sunday is brilliant. They change the variety of dishes often which is really good aswell. Yesterday's buffet we had: Chicken Korma, Chicken Pasanda, Chicken Saag, Chicken Jalfrezi, Lamb Madras, Lamb Bhuna, Veg Curry, Bombay potatoes and a whole row of light bites e.g. onion bhaji's, tandoori chicken, spring rolls etc.
