Expensive for what you get, also staff don't have enough information about allergies, have to keep going out the back to ask, the lady who served me with the dark hair was lovely, but one of the other servers gave me a right dirty look when I moved along the line if it hadn't been for the fact I was with my mother in law I would have given her a few choice words.

I must say the cakes we had were excellent, not so the ham and cheese sandwich, the ham was very salty and at an extra cost of £1.80 for finely grated cheese which was dry and tasteless it was disappointing for me, I gave half of the sandwich to my husband as it was too salty. My husband had a cheese toastie which he thought could have been better. We shall know better if we go again to just have cake.

We have visited here on a number of occasions for the odd cuppa and cake but this time due to circumstances with traffic we opted to grab breakfast whilst heading down the A449. What a disappointment !. As a rule the food here is good but the breakfast unfortunately wasn’t. Since no detail is shown on the menu board we asked what it consisted of and the server went through it verbally. I’m a lover of baked beans, but no beans apparently, just grilled tomato which I’m not keen on. The breakfasts arrived and from the appearance point of view it didn’t look good. The bacon looked like it had been grilled forever. The two sausages were possibly the smallest sausages I’ve ever seen. Mushrooms looked over cooked but the fried egg seemed ok. We both remarked that the sausage had a really odd flavour; somewhere between strangely flavoured and on the turn. They remained uneaten. While eating we did notice that other people received breakfast which had a portion of beans added in a small ramekin. Clearly it’s an extra so why, when I mentioned the lack of beans was it not offered to me ?….it’s called value added selling !. Very disappointed. It appears from reviews that we aren’t the only ones but no one seems to ever read them and comment. The tea room is always busy, full to capacity most times. Maybe they believe they don’t need to take heed.

Popped in as I needed some more stones for my garden. Delicious display of cakes and savouries. I opted for my favourite cream tea as I know the scones are homemade. My partner had a cheese scone with butter. Nice, pleasant surroundings and fairly quiet after the Sunday lunchtime. We enjoyed our stay and can I commend the staff for dealing with a rude customer who called them 'you lot'. All because he claimed there was limescale in his tea! (It is a hardwater area around here). Anyway, I'll be back, thank you!

I have just read some very poor reviews about Ashwoods. I really cannot understand why they are complaining. We have been coming here for at least 20 years and never ever had a bad experience. Went for coffee and cake. Having seen the price of the cake, almost £8.50 for two slices, we gave them a miss and just had two cappuccinos. They were served in cheap mugs instead of proper cups and saucers. They were no better than instant coffee made with hot milk. Certainly not worth the £6.40 charged. Clearly a place trading on a past reputation. On the plus side, Ashwood Garden Centre is a delight. The nearby Archie's Attic in Blundies Lane, Enville blows this place out-the-water.

I have eaten here lots before lockdown and always been pleased, especially with the breakfasts, but today I went for lunch and was very disappointed. My baguette was one of those part baked ones, but unfortunately it remained only part baked! I am sure it had never seen the inside of an oven since leaving the factory. It was extremely cold and very doughy. Such a shame as the ham filling was lovely. I think the salad had either been prepared the day before or at least many hours earlier. The Lettuce was ok but the radish, celery and shredded carrot were bone dry and the tomato was soggy and tasted like the ones you get on sandwiches that have been made the night before. Yuk! Salad needs to be fresh and this wasn’t.I have complained in the past about the baguettes not being baked and they did change, but then we had lockdown. Such a disappointing experience.

Social distancing good, and food of the usual standard, although a slightly reduced menu. But don't visit for tea and cake at the moment if you like your tea to come in a tea pot, and a china cup. It is now served in a cardboard cup and no spoon, just a stirer. Our family meet up for our daughter's birthday was not as enjoyable as usual. Tea and cake together as a family, is an experience, not something you could get as a take away.I don't believe it is because of covid 19, because surely the crockery is washed with good hygiene practise as a matter of importance at any time?

The garden centre is well presented and kept immaculate. Mostly a plant nursery the plants are all in excellent health and well displayed in tidy beds and greenhouses. Hard stock is limited but sufficient. The cafe is normally busy when we go so entails a wait to choose food and pay. The food always looks very enticing which makes it difficult making a choice ! We normally go in the afternoon so have a cake and hot drink. Everything looks home cooked and the different flavored scones are particularly good. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. The restaurant is a little dated but comfortable and overlooks the display gardens, there is also an outdoor seating area . If you are lucky you may get the tables around the open fire in the winter.

On a very cold and damp morning we arrived for breakfast but the cafe did not open until 9-45am. We went in to the seating area to keep warm but were told by an abrupt woman we couldn't jump the queue by waiting there... that we would have to queue outside anyway for access. As we had no intention queue jumping we thought her very rude. But putting this rudeness aside the breakfast ordered was good but service was slow as they were not busy.A good selection of items on the plate, but to charge £1 extra for a slice of black pudding was excessive,.The place very clean and the young lady that served us was friendly and efficient it was her that has decided us to go back and hopefully by then the rude lady wil have learned from her.

My wife and I visited this garden centre looking for rockery plants and found a great selection. Quite apart from that, it is one of the best kept, tidiest garden centres we have been to. There is a big variety of plants and a hot house with some beautiful orchids at very reasonable prices. Plenty of good, helpful advice on hand from the staff. The only downside from our point of view was the restaurant. When we arrived at 12.00 it was full, we came back at 1.00, it was chocker and the queue was out the door, so we gave up. It's obviously a place people come just to enjoy the restaurant. Otherwise, well worth a visit.

Decided to try tea room during recent visit. The garden centre is really nice, lots of lovely flowers and a relaxing environment. My wife and I used the tea room, the selection of cakes for myself is good but as my wife is gluten free and vegan they do not offer both together it’s either but not together which is disappointing as other tea rooms seem to be able to accommodate. The tea room was really busy but was able to find a table. Staff on the whole are friendly and helpful except the older lady who directs you to tables, she doesn’t seem to smile or pass the time of day, she carried a tray to a table for a customer who needed help, no smile, no comment and seemed as if it was an inconvenience, came across as miserable. The young servers work hard clearing tables and seem pleasant and greet you with a smile. The food quality was good and appears to be a popular place. Would probably visit again in the near future.

The standard of food available at the cafe is top quality even if the menu is limited to the normal fare for such places. However the portions are generous without being excessive and the real winner is their ability to deliver quality day in day out. If your a veggie your take care of with something always available to suit your tastes. If you love pastries cakes etc then your in for a treat of many and varied home made varieties again produced to a high and tasty standard. In terms of the surroundings themselves the cafe is set in a beautifully laid out in garden centre adjacent to lots of flower beds a lawn and a kiddies play area. There are tables outside should the weather be kind on your visit. Another plus is that the cafe is well situated for lots of local attractions such as Kinver Edge, Highgate & Enville Commons, The Glass Museum at Wordsley is merely 2 miles away and you also have Dudley Zoo and Castle, The Black Country Living Museum, and the beautiful market town of Bridgnorth with the river seven winding its way lazely around the town which has a traditional archway from years gone by

Although there was a long queue of people waiting to be served, a member of staff took the time to go over the menu with me to ensure that there would be something to suit my dietary requirements. She answered all of my questions and was very informative. They are very considerate of people who suffer from food allergies and/or food intolerances here which is something I always appreciate. Please can you tell us what is difficult in cooking an English breakfast. Ashwoods find it difficult! According to which chef is working is according to how well your breakfast will be cooked. One week lovely, the next poor. We have been visiting this restaurant for the last five years since my retirement. Great to start with, but over the years it has just deteriorated, but the price hasn't! We have complained about the quality before, but enough is enough. We have now found somewhere else, where the quality, quantity and price is better. Ashwoods is our gain. Sad really, because we had met some lovely people there over time.

Brought my mom here for the first time on a Friday lunchtime. Pleasant gift shop and lovely little landscaped garden to wander round. The restaurant was busy! We had to order food before a member of staff would find us a table though the "gentleman" behind us jumped the queue! Nevertheless a table was found for us quickly. The food itself was delicious - we had chicken sandwiches and it was "real" chicken not the processed stuff. And the Tiramisu Layer Cake was to die for! Sponge was so light and not coffee flavour was not too strong. Two reasons I've not given full marks: we were asked twice if we'd mind sharing a table. It's difficult to say no when you can see how busy it is but it just made us feel uncomfortable. Secondly it's so noisy! My mother struggles to hear at the best of times so I was having to shout at her with a stranger sitting next to us! Not conducive to a private conversation! So food good atmosphere not so good.

They do serve breakfast and light lunches and I think they look good. The cakes and scones are made on the premises and they are the best I've ever tasted except for home-baked. You will not, I assure you, find scones to beat the Ashwoods scones - no way! The huge drawback is hat it gets very busy and you often can't get a seat; even if you get a seat it can be very noisy as there are no carpets or other noise-absorbing materials - it's all pine and tiles. Overall, it is a good place to go and you have a lovely, la escaped garden centre to walk around.

Have been numerous times and food is always to a high standard. Toast is always buttered which is unusual but saves doing it yourself.

Gets busy, sometimes best to get companions to find seating before ordering. Food pricey, but consistent, and lovely recommend the scones with cream and jam.

Good tea room for a garden centre, quick service. One key problem though there's not a lot of tables and also can get very busy so can be awkward to be seated.

Met my friend there today for coffee I've got to say I always feel like the youngest there and I'm 55!! Extremely busy as ever and the staff rushed off their feet and never seem very happy. I love Ashwood for plants and garden stuff but got to say much prefer the Vineyards at Bobbington for lunch, tea and coffee and the staff actually seem happy in their work.

Reasonable choice of food but not the cheapest. Service very slow. Plenty of staff but had to wait ages just to get a cup of tea. Then staff very slow to clear table after meal.

If you have never been to Ashwood Nurseries, try to find the time to go! On July 15th the owner opens his wonderful garden and it is a pleasure to see the creative, beautiful plantings. Well worth the £5.00 admission which goes to charity. These gardens are only available to view about 4 times a year. The plants in the garden centre are always of the best quality and it is pleasing just to walk around the area. There is a popular cafe serving food all day as well as a shop that stocks a range of gardening needs. Alongside the cafe is a shop selling gifts and cards. There is a children's play area adjacent to the cafe.Pleased to say I live within easy travelling distance and take all my visitors there to enjoy this great facility.

I feel i must write about the excellent service at the Ashwood Nurseries this week.Having a planned lunch with girlfriends to celebrate their special birthdays we could not have had better service from Ruth, having reserved a table due to havinga wheelchair user in our party and realising it was going to be busy Ruth kindly agreed to have a table ready for us.After our meal she arranged for the tea room staff and chefs to very generously arrive at our table with a complimentary scone complete with candle and got the whole of the tea room to sing happy birthday to my 2 friends, all a complete suprise. Many thanks Ruth it was a wonderful gesture from you and your team.Clare Mallin

I visit here a lot because of the garden centre. The tea room is hearty rather than anything else. The cakes are large and so are the coffees but it lacks any sophistication. For the vast majority of their clients, including me, that's no problem.

Poor service, slow. We weren't asked about any allergies, the menu does not state what is in the meals. For example the menu says steak and ale pie, mushrooms not a steak mushroom and ale pie. Misleading at best. The breaded potato cake that comes with the chicken wrapped in ham contains cheese and what seemed to be spring onion no mention on the menu . We had to ask after 20 mins if our deserts were coming then they arrived after a further 10 mins. Asked for the bill it hadn't arrived after 20 mins so we went to the bar to pay. When I spoke to the manager he had excuses of being short staffed and said he took the menu comments on board, no apologies. I walked out very unhappy that our anniversary for me had been ruined. Not the experience I paid for. The quality of the food was good but overall the experience was poor. I felt sorry for the waiting staff as at points they were running around. If they don't have the staff then the bookings shouldn't be taken and maybe explain when customers arrive.

My wife and I booked afternoon tea for 28 people in celebration of a special anniversary. The staff were all extremely helpful from the time of us making our initial enquiry to the end of the day of our event. They then emailed to check with me that all had been satisfactory. It was more than satisfactory it was a truly delightful experience with attentive staff and a very, very good afternoon tea. This contained an inventive selection of sandwiches and cakes together with scones served with jam and cream. Tea and coffee were served throughout including some ‘speciality’ teas. We had a cash bar but were able to arrange a drink each for our guests on arrival and delicious sparkling wine for a couple of toasts. Several of our guests made good use of the shop to buy a bottle or two of the wine that they had enjoyed during the afternoon. This was a very good experience well done Halfpenny Green. Will we return, most certainly we will to partake in both the great food in the restaurant and buy wine and other goodies from the deli and shop. Everything was extremely satisfactory and the staff were all excellent.

ITS NOT CLOSED! Visited the cafe after completing a walk along the Railway Walk to Awbridge. It’s had an upgrade and the Harry Potter theme has been replaced with some attractive refurbishment. Great food and pleasant service.

The Bull is a good local pub with a friendly atmosphere. It's an ideal place for meeting up with friends for a drink. Meals at lunchtime are good value for money. Bar staff are friendly and helpful.
