Really disappointed with Sunday lunch. The restaurant was busy but there were plenty of free table. Drinks arrived promptly but then had to queue for 40 minutes to get served at carvery. When we got to counter they had run short of some options and vegetables. Don't know how people in queue behind us felt. What was annoying was the total Indifference of both manager and staff. They didn't seem at all concerned how customers felt. Will not be returning or recommending

Had Sunday carvery today, been previously a few times and really enjoyed it but not impressed this visit. Carvery was at best lukewarm and some of the veg was cold. Had cherry crumble dessert which was rock hard and inedible.Shame as it used to be so nice.

It was such a sunny day, so decided to pay Burry Port a visit. Booked the Ashburnham for a late lunch. Busy outside, quiet inside. Friendly attentive staff & we didn't have to wait long for food. The Cajun chicken was very tasty as was the Salmon with a cockle sauce. Good sized portions so sadly didn't have room for dessert even though the menu looked tempting!! We shall look forward to visiting again next year.

Booked here for a change I ordered beer battered fish and chips which was very nice. Other meals that we ordered was the steak pie with mash. But I wldnt say it was mash looked like the filling of a jacket potato very dry too. Curry had way too many onions and hardly any chicken. The last meal was chicken in a bbq sauce was very nice. All desserts were very nice though. All the staff were really nice and the social distancing was spot on. I will come back but if the above points could be taken on board.

Went for a Sunday carvery with family and towards the end of the meal found some tin foil in the food. I took the plate to the bar and explained. A woman - possibly the manageress - took my plate with the remainder of my food and said "sorry I'll see the chef". I sat back down and my family finished their meal. I questioned a staff member who cleared the table as to what was happening. He went to find out and never returned. When I went back to the bar to say that noone had got back to me the woman who'd originally taken the plate off me said ' I've spoken to the chef and apologised ..it was only a small amount of foil" before immediately walking off !!! Big or small is of no importance - the fact that it could have been swallowed was the issue !!! V poor customer care and attention !! We will not be returning !!!

We visited the Ashburnham for my Mums birthday. I booked a few days before and when we arrived I’m glad we did. (Heaving) My first impressions of the Ashburnham was very much a wedding venue. I can see why it is so popular for receptions. That said it looked very smart, names on the table and someone showed us to our seats immediately. We opted for the 2 course option Starter being tasty but somewhat small. This however was blown away by the delicious carvery. As a vegetarian I had ordered the Glamorgan sausages to accompany my veg but the rest of my party had the meat which they said was perfect. A choice of 4 meats and they were not stingy with the portions. Staff were friendly and very helpful .. overall a lovely meal and will definitely be returning x Thank you Ashburnham

A group of us went to here following a sporting event in the local country park . We have done this for the previous 3 years with no problems. 6 of the group went on ahead, were given a table and told the guy in charge ( we`re assuming he was the restaurant manager) that the rest would be arriving shortly. He said he`d move a table. When the final 8 of us arrived, a lovely waitress showed us to our friends` table, the guy looked at us and said "there`s 8 of you,, no, we can`t take you, I can take 6" We could see empty tables.. we said we`ll leave, the waitress tried again, he said no. As we were leaving the waitress found us 2 tables in a different room (by now I wanted to leave, but the others were hungry). Bearing in mind there is a large sign by the main road saying they do food all day, and that part of our party was already seated and eating, and that their website says large parties are welcome I was not happy... There was no "sorry", or no suggestion that we get a drink and wait, and that something would be sorted out. We had people in our party that had travelled from the Midlands and we wanted to catch up with them but couldn`t. The guy was prepared to let £100 of business walk away, what an attitude! The sporting event is annual, I for one , will be finding somewhere else to eat afterwards next year. This is supposed to be a service industry!!!

We called here for an early evening meal with friends. And first I must say that the ambience and staff were up to standard. However the food left a great deal to be desired. The ladies ordered what was supposed to be 'Chicken Caesar Salad'. The meat was tender but was of enemic colour and appeared to have been steamed an not griddled. However the salad was well past its best! The three slices of cucumber were dry and the one cherry tomato was lost in the large mound limp lettuce. One would have expected crispy croutons, perhaps anchovy but definitely a better variety of salad ingredients. The men ordered the lemon sole from the 'Specials Board' . The fish was a minscule portion totally submerged and invisible under a flood of sauce. The sauce contained chopped mushrooms which , being kind, had seen better days. Their colour was black which peeping through the pleasant sauce completely ruined the effect. I must say that the vegetables were well cooked. All in all the meal disappointed us all.We will be unlikely to return.

Food: had to pay for food up-front. Chased twice and was told "It's just coming" twice. Still waited 40 minutes for food to be served. Received no explanation or apology for the delay. There were clearly other tables in a similar situation. On arrival, the food was hot and tasted good, but the delay and service (see below) had already left a bad taste behind.Service: received no acknowledgement on arrival. Received no eye contact when placing order. Orders taken by a graceless individual with no interpersonal skills. Food served by children with equally lack of interpersonal skills.Surroundings: other tables weren't cleared promptly. Our table was sticky. Asked for it to be cleaned and was told "It's the sunshine - it melts the varnish" (which, in Wales, is a little incredulous) so table therefore wasn't wiped.Overall: when you arrive at a restaurant (which therefore specialises in the provision of food) for lunch at 13:30 on a Saturday (so you expect things to be in full swing) and order three meals (of which two are Specials, so should be ready to serve) from staff whose business is to provide a service (so it's in their interests to make you like them) you don't expect the treatment summarised above. If I hadn't had to pay for the food in advance (clever move, Ashburnham Hotel) I would have left.I suspect the only reason this place survives is that there is no competition to put it out of business. Go somewhere else.

The bar and restaurant areas are fine but the quality of food served (Sunday Lunch Cavary) is very poor. We went up to the cavary at about 14.00 hours (they serve for most of the day) the meat being served was being carved from the last remains and ends of joints (people in the queue behind were served from new joints), the beef was well done with no option of a medium cooked option, the lamb was not available, turkey was again being cut from the remains of a turkey crown. Vegetables were over cooked, the roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings were not in dishes under the warmer but piled directly on to the tiled surface. Three pots of gravy were available but not labeled as to what meats they were for. The horseradish sauce, mint sauce, mustards etc were in large dishes on a table, the table appeared not to have been cleared of drips and spills since start of service and looked a potential health hazard. Will not return unless major improvements are made.

Arriving to a well prepared room was an inviting start to a wonderful evening. although we were a small party of 34 the tables were laid out beautifully and a warm welcome. a range of starters were on offer and the traditional Christmas main meal followed by traditional deserts including Christmas Pud. I had the prawn cocktail on a plate with garnish, they didn't skimp on the dish and it was superb, while my wife Sue had the melon. Beautifully dressed with a sweet sauce (The melon not my wife) and again she said it was delicious and the dish was little to large for her. Main course was Beef for Sue and Turkey for me. Service with each person was I got to say personal and with care as a customer. The vegetable's were served in large stainless steel dishes hot and cooked to perfection. Overall outstanding. deserts were again spot on. well done and a thank you. The Christmas meal was an overall success and we will be back for sure. Alcohol and bar prices were little more than local pub prices only by a few pence. a pint of bitter at £3.10p excellent, that made the evening.

Did not book a table, so dined in bar area which is very pleasant. Staff managed to accommodate us easily even though there was five of us. The meats were cooked well and a plentiful choice of vegetables. As with most carvery meals, the food temperature was not piping hot but was enjoyable. Would visit again.

A good, honest, British carvery with welcoming staff and good service. I’d recommend the carvery for groups and couples of all ages. We were a group of 10 and we were looked after very well.

Stopped for a meal with family whilst on a day out, food was awful, total waste of money, customer service was poor. Was left standing by the bar waiting for a drink we already ordered earlier for 15mins. No one to be seen. Don't bother yourselves and waste money eating here, 3 full plates going back to the kitchen. Never again.

The night Elvis came to town, (Elvis tribute night) I feel sorry for these people, the atmosphere was amazing, the effort the staff made was awesome, the room /food was unbeatable. Unfortunatly if you can imagine Las Vegas with a power cut, despite having a decent voice and trying hard, there was no glamour / bling it was a real let down. His wife was a real wasted asset just staring into the computer screen, instead of operating lights, fog or any effects etc. At almost £50, tickets and drinks, for the 2 of us, we don't think we will take a chance again ! Thanks to the staff though.

We bought 3 Groupon vouchers for the Afternoon Tea.The first occasion was probably the best. We were sat down stairs in the bar which was fine. The sandwiches tasted fresh and the cakes were ok, even though they were all shop bought. The second time we were sat upstairs, on our own, in the most miserable looking room. This time the sandwiches were dry and the same shop bought cakes were given. There wasn't a third time - when I tried to book a table a very rude man told me they were fully booked and I should have used the voucher earlier. He told me that Groupon had agreed to extend the period on the voucher and I should ring again. I rang a few weeks later and the same rude man told me I shouldn't have left it so late but he would ring me back - but he never did.To be honest we weren't missing anything to speak of so I didn't bother ringing him again.Would we go back - never.

Service was very good, the food was average with particlarly dry and powdery stuffing, strange. The place itself was very basic and lacked atmosphere.

went for a sunday lunch there was 9 of us. hadn't been to the ash for about a year and would like to tell everyone how downhill it has gone. it was absolutely awful. the food tasted as if it had been coated in margarine! there was no turkey left so we were served gamon. gamon for a sunday dinner? we used to enjoy going to the ash at one point but we would never return again and would not recommend. when we were asked if every thing was ok we explained how it wasn't and the woman just said sorry and walked away. overall it was just awful!

Visited the asburnham today for a family meal, 13th September 15, we were seated in the front restaurant, the table cloth was dirty and had gravy stains all over it from the diners before us, surely the table cloth should of been changed, after buying the vouchers for our meals we were told that the kitchen had no more Turkey left, which left only ham and beef on the carvery, both of which meats were so tough that my knife could not cut through them, I should of asked for a steak knife, the carvery unit was very messy, food all over the place, surely the chef should be cleaning up as he went along, there was no mash left in the carvery and the stuffing was like sand, the carrots were rock hard, roast potatoes cold and the whole meal altogether was very bland, the only nice this was the Yorkshire puddings and I assume they were aunt Bessie's, the three waitresses that were standing by the door were very sloppy, and all they did was trash talk about the customers, when we went to the bar to ask for a pot of strawberry swirl ice cream for my 4 year old cousin the very rude man replied with, they are right at the bottom of the freezer, it's gonna be a struggle to get them, all in all a dreadful experience and being in the food and hospitality industry myself I feel as if this place has certainly gone down hill in the last few years, so I'm sure they could spend a little bit of the money they take in to upgrade the seriously out dated bar area and employ some YOUNG staff who actually want to work... Will not be returning.

The hotel restaurant is located a few minutes drive from Pembrey Country Park and Bury Port shore. It has an attractive white exterior with pretty landscaping and a large car park. The restaurant interior is nicely decorated with ample tables and chairs; it also has an outside eating area. Food ranges from lunchtime 2 for a tenner up to a la carte with a la carte prices! We ordered 2 for a tenner. It took ages for the food to arrive (40 minutes), and you get what you pay for. It was edible but disappointing because my fishcakes were bland, and my partner's meat pie didn't taste as you would expect. I had tasteless boiled potatoes and his chips appeared to have been refried to death. So all in all it's a no no as far as a return visit goes.

Although I have previously recommended this restaurant I am sorry to say that the quality of cooking has declined drastically. This is a shame because the waiting staff are friendly and efficient.

A lab excellent visit this evening with friends. Great food with no wait all meals were timely measured . The service was 100% and very friendly and polite. It’s nice to chat with someone who thrives to deliver first class service. We had a young lady Christina who served us and was excellent. Ours tables were cleared regularly and we always were asked if we were happy and anything we needed.

Arrived after 2pm with my 90 y old Mum and my dog on a Thursday Mum ordered the Scampi the Menu described 12 Scampi but only 11 arrived the waitress did rectify this and gave us an xtra one for luck. When I ordered I asked did they have Sirloin steak the lady taken my order said yes I have had the Sirloin steak on two previous visits when my meal arrived it was Rump Steak if I'd known there was no Sirloin I would not have ordered Rump , the food was fine but the attention to detail was poor i regularly pass by as I live in Pembs but work at Glangwilli.
