Nice friendly local pub with lovely owners / staff and views across the golf course. They do not serve food here, only drinks.

We stayed at Carradale Bay Caravan site for a week and the Ashbank was our preferred spot for a few early evening drinks after a day exploring. Welcoming place with helpful and friendly owners in Sharon and John who were interesting to talk to and full of local knowledge. They weren’t doing food at the time but recommended the Drumfearne Guest House for an evening meal - which was excellent. We look forward to visiting again when we return to Carradale. Only sorry we didn’t get to thank them and say goodbye on our last night.

A small B&B that was spotless and well organised. The breakfasts were delicious and the owners friendly and knowledgeable. The beds were extremely comfortable. However, the room was small and the electric sockets were sparse with one broken. The wardrobe contained the tea tray (!) but the kettle needed to be put in the floor to boil. The hot tap was broken. The only non-residents toilet was adjacent and it was off putting to hear people through the wall urinating (and worse)! It was however, good value and we were well looked after.

We were a party of six included tw children and we all thoroughly enjoyed our three course meals. No complaints from anyone. The chicken salad was especially delicious and the pies were reported to be great by the others. I would recommend the Kintyre Suprise dessert...delish... Also excellent choice of relatively local Loch Fyne ales...xx

Good off road parking made arrival easy. Very friendy welcome and shown to room in proper fashion carrying our case. Room clean, comfortable and with a view. Stayed for an excellent dinner in the bar/restaurant (steak pie to die for!). Friendly atmosphere in bar and all joining in conversations including friendly locals = felt at ease and at home.Breakfast was great, good selection and plenty of it. All the advice on the local area that you could want - not just leaflets thrown at you but a truly personal service. Can't wait to go again.

Came here on a recommendation from a neighbour in the village. Jim served and Sharon cooked. The food was unfussy and tasty, classic plates of hearty food ideal after a days walking.Stand out plates were the homemade bread, Kintyre plate and sticky toffee pudding. Drama of whisky are excellent value and there is a good selection of bottled beer. The highlight though was the warmth of welcome by Jim and later Sharon. I genuinely felt at home.

Stayed here as part of a group of 7. The hotel was under some renovation at the rear but caused us no difficulty. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. We had a very warm welcome from our hostess and there was a very relaxed feel to the place and it was more like home than a hotel. We were provided with an excellent breakfast the next morning and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My partner and I stayed with our children and 2 dogs at the Ashbank. The rooms were welcoming with more than adequate facilities - loved the bedding. The bed was extremely comfortable - I slept better than I had in months! The food was excellent - both breakfast and evening meal. The whole family (including the dogs!) were made to feel very welcome. The owners were very friendly and eager to ensure we were comfortable and relaxed during our stay. I would recommend for either a break away or a meal if you are just passing! We are already planning our next visit!

While touring Kintyre we were looking for a place to stop for refreshments. There were plenty of B&B's but few cafes on the back roads. We stopped here because the sign indicated there was a cafe. There is a small bar/cafe/restaurant at the front of the B&B. It was just what we wanted and the staff were very friendly and made us just what we needed. We would have liked to have had the time to had a full meal here and sample what else was on the menu; another time perhaps.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
