Ok, so the cafe in Canterbury opens @ 8:30, however drinks only! the food is unavailable until 9 am ! the person behind the counter was dressed as if she had just got of her sofa. No uniform did not want to interact with customers. Asda if this is how you run your stores no wonder you are losing market share. Where is the management?? Store standards !? Shame there isn’t 0 star rating

I have been visiting for around a year, only ever had drinks and ice creams occasionally. The cafe has a odd smell, and tables and drink areas arent too clean. Has improved in last 6months, as in July 2023 I visited and saw brown "stuff" on a seat, as well as hundreds of flies, alive and dead all in a cobweb in the corner of the seating area. One of the members of staff is very friendly and upbeat, telling me to get the largest drink when i had earned a free one! If you need a simple tea after a week shop, this is a decent place to go, would reccomend you take it away (also why is it all disposable cutlery and tableware)

We visited your in store cafe this morning around 9.30…the member of staff was helpful & pleasant, though her uniform? baggy cardigan (which is a complete no no for food hygiene) was covered in food, but the whole place was filthy, all the tables need to be cleaned, the drinks area was also dirty. The seats were covered in food debris. The breakfasts arrived on the flimsiest paper plates that if the food was actually hot could have burnt or scolded you if you picked them up. Most of the condiment sections were dirty and empty. It’s worrying that if this is the standard of the customer side what are the kitchen standards like. It’s a bleak soulless area.

Good things about breakfast deal for £6 were tasty hash brown and excellent white coffee. Egg, beans and bacon OK. Sausage poor quality - needs upgrading which wouldn't cost much more to the company and this could lift breakfast to a higher level. Thick toast would be nice (or offered as an option). Dispo plates and wood cutlery a good idea for hygiene reasons.

The cutlery that was meant to be clean was disgustingly filthy one of the forks was covered in bean juice so we had to purchase a coke just so that we were able to wash out cutlery in it before we ate. When we asked for clean cutlery the staff member just grunted at us then brought out more dirty cutlery. The food was horrible and way overpriced we could have eaten at a nice place for the same price. The staff all look and act like they hate their jobs

Visited at 11.40 with 20 mins left of breakfast theyd run out of all breakfast items apart from saussage, which i cannot eat due to allergies, so i asked if i could have something off the dinner menu she told me no because its still breakfast, so i asked if she could make me toast or maybe put on some hash browns and she replied no and just repeted herself that breakfast ends soon so wont cook anything else. Which is fine but the attitude had to of been the worst ive ever come across, maybe customers can and left with nothing after asking for simple breakfast items or asking to pre order dinner items and she would either say . No because breakfast ends soon. Or . No because lunch hasnt started. Visited on 23rd march 2023 larger lady with black top on served me and my mother, then laughed and slagged off the customers that came and left asking for dinner items since she was out of breakfast ones

Called in here today for quick bite to eat whilst shopping. Waited a while to be served, member of staff walking about speaking on the phone. Noticed me at the counter waiting and ignored me. Then she went back to the back office area and continued the conversation for a short while. Came to serve me, with no apology. Quite an abrupt manner when asking, as if I was delaying her. Ordered a bacon roll and sausages in a roll. No spread was applied, just two pats of butter to do it yourself, after the filling has been put in !! So glad to leave this place. It used to be ok before the change of company. A cold bleak cafe with attitudes to match. AVOID.

We visited here again, granted the staff were a little distracted the day we went but soon apologised and took our orders , we found a seat and as usual the food came out and we had zero complaints at all! Those that are complaining about the paper cups and plates would soon complain more if they had to wait for a plate and that it would be cold. The paper gets recycled and helps the planet out. This place is for a quick fill up before/after your shop if you are looking for a cafe experience then go elsewhere , this is a more of a do it yourself cafe and you need a little patience, not once have we had bad food here. The prices are more than reasonable , what you pay here is barely the cost of a meal at a restaruant and theres more of it too. If you are dining here for the first time keep an open mind and have a little patience , it's value food with a slower service. You go to the cafe for a quick fill up not a sit in restaruant .

Firstly for all those connoisseurs of food expecting a fancy dining experience you should go else where. This food court is a cheap and no frills deal and in that mind set the quality and service will be as you expect with the prices,it makes a quick fill up as you shop, it isn't designed to be a restaruant and reading some reviews here people seem to lack a little thing called patience. We've eaten here a few times and all the food and service is consistent and we've never had a problem if anything the staff probably have to serve and prepare many orders and also do other tasks behind the scenes they deserve praise for their effort and im sure they would be happy to help if there was a problem ( again we've never had a problem) This place is a good little pit stop to fuel up before/during/after your shop just remember it is what you pay for and keep an open mind.

Plastic plates/cutlery etc. The height of laziness in this day and age when we are trying to step away from plastic disposables. Looks like a cheap old diner from years back. This is without doubt the worst place I have ever gone to eat. To be fair, a huge clue that should have got me walking away was the fact that at lunch time, in a really busy setting there were plenty of empty tables to be had. It laughingly calls itself the 'Express Diner', this would imply a level of high speed and efficiency, this could be nothing further from the truth. After waiting for nearly 15 minutes behind only one customer I was nearly served but the member of staff was then distracted by someone who had gone to the other end of the counter and seemed to be complaining about his food. At this point I turned and walked away, got into my car drove to the other side of the city and was ordering food in another cafe in less time than I'd nearly got served in the Asda Express Diner. Whole place is a shame really, as the prices are cheap, the pizza looked nice, but with slow service, dirty tables, food served on paper plates, I'm not going back. Best advice, if you're really hungry, buy a sandwich in the store and eat it in your car.

I know and understand the idea is cheap and quick food but really the only good thing here is the staff. There was a late middle aged woman on duty who was friendly and efficient-just isn't given the tools to do better. Apart from her the whole thing is like you see in prison documentaries. You queue up and get served food that has been kept hot under heat lamps. You get served mediocre portions onto plastic plates and given plastic cutlery. Tea is a cup and teabag you have to do the rest yourself. I had a breakfast - a portion of butter for a slice of toast and have you ever tried spreading butter from a fridge with plastic knives? You are sat at plastic tables placed so close to the next one. Then are expected to clear up after yourself-all the plastic stuff in the bin and tray on a shelf. I'm not going to start a riot with inmates from f wing so at least deserve China plates and metal cutlery as a minimum!

What a disappointing revamp. The cafe was always a good stop after shopping for a coffee and snack. Unfortunately the revamp is now like a fast food outlet. Gone are the traditional snacks like sandwiches and toasted sandwiches and traditional main courses. There is now a lot of pizza and bacon or sausage baps. The menu is very limited.Cutlery, cups and plates are all disposable. This seems environmentally bad compared to their previous pottery crockery and metal cutlery. It seems to be appealing to a younger customer and I saw quite a few possible customers walk away upon seeing the menu. I will never return to this cafe again. The only reason i went here for lunch in the first place was because me and my partner were doing a food shop and both of us were very hungry. I would have rather gone hungry. The service was beyond slow! Two people seemed to be manning the till but serving food, re-filling the hot food on display (which looked like it had been sitting there all day), running off to the back of the kitchen all with customers standing there waiting to be served or waiting for their food! More staff is definitely needed to keep up with the demand! They had put up a new menu but they didnt seem to have any of the items available?! Bit odd seeming as they are in the middle of a supermarket! After asking for 3 different things i ended up just having the soup...which ended up being the smallest bowl of soup i have ever had! Should have just got a tin of heinz soup off the shelf! Saved me my money and would of had more to eat! The seating area is filthy, food all on the floor, mess left on the tables, no clean napkins and didn't see anyone cleaning up! Probably left up to the two poor people that seemed to be doing everything! Just a very unpleasant visit and improvements are in serious need!

We shop in ASDA often, recently purchased a meal 4 two which was £4.75---Mousaka & also cauliflower cheese @ £2.50 veg for our evening meal today. We normally got for a quick drink early doors and pick up a Chinese takeaway on the way home only a short walk home from pub. What a disappointment, but lesson learned won't do it ever again. the Mousaka looked very presentable in its container, but when served out of the oven it was a pile of slope, no visible aubergine no substance to the layers similar to lasagne,it was similar to sloppy mashed potato in gravy absolutely awful, the cauliflower cheese veg at £2.50 cooked for thirty minutes as instructed was not al dente whatsoever, it was raw. All in in all what a terrible disappointment from Asda, we won't be doing this again, we will just be boring and get a chinese takeaway from approx three pounds more from our local takeaway which is excellent..

Asda have a large store off the Sturry Road, with a café which made my 70 minute visit less tiring. First in for a decaff coffee cheerfully supplied with iced bun by the welcoming Belinda. She stamped my card for future free 8th coffee, before I added water at the drinks station. Back later for a hot lunch, which consisted of a meat pie, choice of vegetables and new potatoes or chips. .About four hot dishes on offer, and a vegetarian option, plus the expected range of sandwiches and cakes .Could offer more salads, but this is the city's least affluent area so seeing two OAPs sharing a plate of chips is not unknown. I had found a fruit pack in the store which was my desert. A clean café but unsure why the tray stackers had no rungs to place any on. If in the area, Burger Kings is long gone, so Asda it will be at present levels of food and service.

We had a voucher for carvery at £6. We had never been before. When we arrived we felt a little lost as did not know the procedure. However once we found someone to help we relaxed and went to the bar to order the carvery. We could have ordered at the table, by using a barcode, but as we are in our seventies, and not too computer savvy we went to the bar. The carvery was lovely. Beef was cooked as i like it, although as it was a new joint they brought out, it was a little fatty. The turkey was delicious. We were very happy as there were brussel sprouts and swede mix which we love. We really enjoyed the meal. The only thing we left on our plates was the beef fat. Otherwise we ate everything else on our plate.
