For some stupid reason we visited for food at 12 o'clock today. (Saturday ) we have visited in the past and the food choices on the menu have ran out. Two weeks ago we waited 25 minutes to receive food then our daughters food wasn't brought out. We had to keep chasing, reminding staff. Today at 12, ordered the basic fish and chips and guess what non available, I wish Gordon Ramsey could visit and shake some sense into this cafe. Would be nice to visit and get food before our big shop buy, butwe won't bother trying again as it doesn't seem to be managed at all. Tesco or morrisons from now on, they seem to have it right. Very disappointed at Asda 😡 ( see you even made me put an angry face at how bad this place has become )

The cafe here is large and spacious, it's warm and well lit with good wheelchair access and facilities. Serves food from early morning until early evening. The menu includes breakfasts, lunchtime meals, snacks, drinks and desserts. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service consists of a mixture of self service cafeteria style and table service. Credit cards are accepted here. Asda has a 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 food hygiene rating. Food review August 2023. The menu is quite limited at lunchtime, I asked for the steak and ale Pie but was told it was unavailable due to waiting for delivery, my second choice was the fish (cod) which was available but I was told that it would take awhile to prepare so I settled for option three an all day brunch. My meal arrived very quickly, however I found it to be to be barely warm, the sausages were small poor quality mass produced and pretty tasteless, the bacon again was poor quality being thin, fatty and hard, two fried eggs, frozen chips, baked beans and half a fresh tomato which was probably the best thing on my plate and a mug of tea. Not a particularly enjoyable meal overall and not particularly inexpensive at £7.15.

I have no issue with it being late, it really wasn't the drivers fault, the issue is the poor quality and poor cooking of the food, the sausages were cheap and overcooked, the bacon was undercooked.

I went to the cafe with my son and ordered a bacon bun looked really appetizing on the picture and orange juice with that came the free kids meal (sandwich, drink, chocolate bar and banana) the service was appalling the chap behind the counter had the wrong attitude for working in a cafe , he brought the food over to the table which was a plain bun with hard greasy bacon inside and one nearly raw piece and no sauce was offered, the kids meal sandwich was cheapest bread with one piece of cheap round ham no butter on the bread, I'm sorry but my 7 yr old granddaughter could of done better the food wasn't worth it even with the free kids meal I couldn't say it ,it was disgusting we left after 5 minutes and went to greggs ....This cafe needs a serious overall...

We use asda for our shopping on a regular basis and have noticed the cafe was mostly never very busy unlike other cafes in the other supermarkets in the Grimsby area .Today we decided to try it out we looked at the menu my wife had a pre packed sandwich my son and myself chose Chicken and chips to be told sorry sold out ok lets try pie chips peas ,well what can i say peas over cooked and only luke warm the chips must have been fried and left in the hot cupboard for ages the meat pie was a round cheap looking and the meat filling tasteless and only 4 small pieces of beef in it i must say the worst pie i have ever tasted i did leave most of the meal having tried it and not impressed . I feel that Asda can do a lot better than this as the cafe could i think be an assit to the store if run and quality improved in these very competitive times

Dreadful quality, bored poorly-trained staff and laughable portions sizes and 'offers'..where to start? This is my local Asda. and this review is based on a number of visits when we have, as a last resort or for convenience, popped in for a few items. A few examples should suffice: * Tiny portions of cake, with some of the tray-bake items being no more than a couple of inches square * The chocolate muffins that we ordered once were so cheap and nasty tasting that after opening the one, we left the other unopened one on the table for anyone to take * Coffee that is pretty poor * An enviroment that is noisy, tacky and often not very clean * Overpriced for what they are offering, there are carvery's in Grimsby that offer a full plate of food for what they are charging, without the limitations on vegetable portions and variety (Asda charge extra if you want more than two small portions of veg!) * Our last try when we were tired and hungry was what they were passing off as fruit bread..small, dry and stale tasting * The one time that we tried their breakfast we got as refund - they were using the frozen, cheap and very, very nasty sausages among other things (we asked) This place makes fast food seem like fine dining by comparison. It's what you might expect if you upset The Joker, and he sent you there as revenge! You would need his smile-gas to acually walk out of there looking happy.

If you fancy a burnt hot cross bun. with one half resembling a frisbee then hurry up and grab one free ! It is possible it will still be on the table where I left it. If the service is good and it is just a quick bite to eat then we don't moan helping out by taking our own trays away. What they failed to tell us was that we should be expected to replace our chairs back under the table, and make sure it was all wiped down and left clean and tidy. Bit like being at school really. But not enough staff around to keep an eye on it all and therefore it was all left in a mess. All I know about the hot meals is that they looked awful as well and didn't see anyone enjoying them either. Maybe the cook had a day of as well. I wonder why only 6 tables were in use ? Maybe it's a case of " been there, done that ! " The cafe takes up such a large area that could be used for something else. A nice cafe maybe ?

After our family experience of this cafe it is safe to say we won't be rushing back anytime soon! Ordered two fruit loaves and one panini, the fruit loaves were rock hard when they were toasted, could have thrown them at the wall and not a crumb would have fallen off. The panini that was ordered heated and after 15 mins was still not brough out to our table so I went to investigate to find it sat behind the counter on the plate and when I took it back to the table myself the bottom was soggy like mushed up weekabix, due to condensation. Tables also full of dirty pots. Will not be returning.

This is the 3rd time i have visted this month, one for lunch after shopping and twice for coffee. The set up of the cafe lets this place down massively, there needs to be two tills as you wait in the queue for your hot meal then are queuing again to pay for it, which if busy and the staff member serving is also making drinks is quite a while so by the time you get seated then your dinner is freezing. I thought this was a one off as it was busy but today i was only ordering coffee and the people behind me had hot meals waiting to pay, the girl who was taking cash was also making drinks, then the machine needed sorting so im guessing they had very cold meals by the time they had paid Sort it out asda very simple and quick to fix this issue and then maybe people may not leave such bad reviews if theh got.a hot meal to eat!

I visited Asda Cafe with a friend in July 2017 when we wanted a quick bite to eat. I ordered the all day breakfast, I couldn't believe how small the plate of food was when it arrived! It was dry, clearly had been sat under a heat lamp for a while, and just quite crap! My friend had a panini which was definitely the option to go for (make it a meal deal, add chips and drink and it was still cheaper than my main not including a drink!). Not recommended. Buy something in the shop!

The place was quite empty but the tables and floor hadn't been cleaned. The child's high chair was filthy that we had to wipe it down with baby wipes before using it. Dearest Asda, supermarket of value for money above all others, I'm afraid to say that today you flopped. Not in lovely George who for once had everything I needed for both of my girls at the same time in the correct sizes - apart from shoes for the 7 year old but don't worry, only Matalan make shoes she cannot destroy in moments I do not hold that against you! Sadly it was the café area that turned an enjoyable shopping trip into stress, headaches and moaning. Arriving around 12ish you were understandably getting busy, my mother, myself and my 2 children all selected sandwiches from your chilled display - sadly the children couldn't have their favourite kid's meal box as the only sandwich offered there was cheese spread and as you will see further on, my children are of the view that cheese must only ever be solid. Anyway, my mother, eldest daughter (The shoe destroyer!) and myself all chose cheese, bacon and chicken baguettes - me with the intention of having mine warm, my youngest (4years old) went with the good old traditional favourite of ham and cheese. we queued for a very long time - you never seem to have enough staff on, one poor man was taking orders, dishing up and running backwards and forwards to the kitchen with orders and sandwiches to be heated up. He offered to heat up Mum's sandwich but due to the long queue she said she'd have it cold to save waiting - we were STARVING!! I handed mine over to be warmed but held onto the other 2 as neither child likes not-solid cheese (I have no idea why when they regularly eat pizza but there you go!). Would I like chips with any of the sandwiches as you're currently doing a meal deal? No thanks. We progressed slowly but nearer to the til. The lady behind the til then pried my mum's sandwich from her hand -"It's got to be hot you see! The chicken is only part-cooked so we have to finish off cooking it before you can eat it!" Ok so off went Mum's sandwich....Then my eldest - we compromised. The kitchen staff would remove the cheese, cook the chicken (and presumably the bacon?) and leave the cheese on the side of the plate so it would not be not solid. She then took the ham and cheese insisting that it too was only part -cooked!!! Really?? part cooked ham??? is that even possible?? I can assure you that never in my 31 years have I ever bought ham from any of yours or numerous other deli counters, gone home, made it into a sandwich then had to finish roasting it?! in fact as a regular part of our picnic I routinely add chill blocks to the hand and cheese sandwiches to prevent them getting warm! And why can competitors sell cheese, ham and chicken baguettes without needing to finish cooking them? why would you waste your time half cooking a sandwich meat?! Anyway what did I know? the kids were hungry... off the cheese and ham went with instructions to remove the cheese because blah blah blah.. Bizzarely my mum was charged for a cup of tea and her sandwich, I was charged for the meal deal for each of my 3 sandwiches and drinks ...more confusuion. I don't want the chips...oh but you can choose crisps... off the kids go but I don't want crisps...oh for the extra 15 pence give me the chips. Mum now chuntering that she wanted chips for 15 pence too as she had the exact same order. We sit down with tea that was made with water that hadn't quite boiled - you can tell by the white stuff that comes to the top and I have to say is a common occurrence in your cafes. The sandwiches arrive. Bread was chewy enough to rival Wrigleys, ham was hot in one place cold in another, chicken was too hot for 7yr old to eat for at least 10 min oh and the cheese was still in the ham and cheese one and it was deffinetly melted - cant swap it- none of that sort left. Ok. we ate what we could, we drank what we could because we were starving but it was definetly not your finest hour. I eagerly await your reply - not least because I'm worried 99.99999% of the population are risking poisoning from only half cooked ham sandwiches. Yours in confusion.

This is a supermarket cafe and obviously you are not going to get Michelin starred cuisine, The breakfast is average and the service area is now enclosed in frosted glass so you cannot see if the food has been sitting and drying out. You get what you pay for and the breakfast is average. The service in the morning is slow, as often the staff are in the kitchen and you end up having to wait for someone to check if any customers are waiting. You get what you pay for, but would only recommend that you use the cafe if you are shopping at Asda and have no chance to go elsewhere, or like me it is on the way to work and time is a constraint. Be aware in the morning you may have to wait for service, and the end product is not really worth the wait.

I visited the ASDA Cafe in Grimsby with my partner and two children after a very long walk. Both young boys were pretty hungry and are far from fussy eaters! After looking at the menu we decided to just get two children's meals for them (we had a restaurant planned later on for us). They had cod bites, chips and one had beans, the other had peas. When the food arrived it shone with oil! The chips were undercooked but had quite obviously been dipped in low quality not quite hot enough oil to deep fry them(picking one up briefly for 30 seconds left a nasty oily residue on my fingers), and the cod bites had unfortunately suffered the same fate! The peas were standard peas (kind of obviously I guess. It's pretty difficult to get those wrong) but the beans just resembled a pile of lumpy red jelly on the plate. Both children turned their noses up at the meals and ended up just having sausage rolls from the market down the road instead! When I asked the cook about it, making it clear I wasn't bothered about a £5 refund for the two meals and that I was just shocked at the low quality of them. He openly admitted that the quality of the oils he has been provided is low. This cafe really needs to pick it's Act up.£2.50 for a standard kid's meal is very good value but I would much rather pay a little more and get higher quality food!I'll visit to shop if I'm in the area but I don't plan on making my children suffer the cafe again!
