I've always liked the Art Cafe for their great food and service but was disappointed at having turned up today for lunch, only to find they were closed. There was a notice on the door saying they were open 10-4. There was no explanation either. This has happened a few times in the past. Checking on their website isn't much use as it says they are open today!

Our latest visit last week, and still as lovely as ever. We had a walk from Wiveton Down to the cafe on a cold windy day, and enjoyed a very generous serving of pumpkin soup with bread and hot veggie sausage roll. Their own scones are amongst the best!

We always pop into the Art Cafe when we are in Norfolk. Their vegan quiche and salad are tremendous. Having visited today we found that the chef was nolonger there and the only hot food was soup or vegan roll. We took the pea and potato soup but was very disappointed. Even more so when we were charged £7.50 each. The soup was thick and lacking in seasoning and the bread dry and butter hard. Sorry but wont be returning.

I am rather surprised that the last review was mine, but I guess people only tend to complain on here! Had a lovely lunch, have said it all in the last review but keep up the good work, fantastic food and staff/service as usual. I think people who complain about prices don't realise cafe staff actually do need paying, like the rest of us!

We’ve enjoyed visiting Art Cafe for many years but unfortunately on our most recent visit we were disappointed to find that the price of scones has been put up to £3.50 and their size has been reduced by half. Nice enough but felt very poor value compared with other local, very nice cafes.

I must say we visited the area we love around Glandford back in July and were very disappointed that the cafe was closed but more to the point, there was no information either locally or online, as we have visited many times in the past and loved it but did not know it it had even closed for good! Surely you could have kept your customers informed via the website?? However, we dropped in twice this week and both times enjoyed it loads. The Bistro style menu suits us down to the ground, a basic choice of quality home cooked food, all done to a high standard, and the staff are lovely. Coffee is delicious, soup and curries very good indeed. Not sure what other negative reviews on the coffee are all about but it is a delight as far as I am concerned. Covid precautions were absolutely spot on and realistic, unlike some in the area (Wiveton, Artemis). Welcome back and long may it continue!

These people big up their coffee expertise and go on about it as some do about fine wine..well, this has become a thing. But the coffee is really not great. There are many places within 5 or so mile radius whose coffee is way better...yes, and a few worse. Scones and cakes etc are good and home made. The meals are poor or indifferent and over priced. I happened to sit at a table with a view of the beams and nooks and crannies beside and slightly above. They were laced with ancient cobwebs and dirty which does not give a good impression at all. Hygiene is number one Two and three in any place serving food. The gifts at the front of the store show signs of having been picked up in charity shops etc and the prices are taking the ..... but then, you don’t have to stop and look let alone buy. If you are going for a coffee and cake beware the coffee hype and indifferent coffee...cakes are great. Tray bakes are great. So I guess you could have tea with those.

About a month ago I visited the Grey Seal cafe in Cromer and grumbled a bit about the place. So when I found myself here, a cafe run by the same company, I had some reservations. But my expectations were confounded. This is just what you want from a cafe. You are made welcome immediately. The tea, coffee and cakes are all first rate (we didn't actually try them all) and it is simply a lovely place to sit for a while. A small shop combining second hand items and some newly made goods is worth a visit. There is art for sale on the walls and some strange artefacts hanging from the ceiling – plenty to look at if the conversation drags! And when you've finished you're only yards away from an aromatic and sensibly priced smokehouse and a binoculars and outdoor clothing shop; both are worth a visit.

It's a bit amateurish. Not in the same league as local competition at the Moorings, Back to the Garden, Artemis and Walsingham Barns but almost as expensive. Very bland curry for £13, 00. Had lunch here after doing park run in Sheringham and was not disappointed. We had the soup which was Pumpkin and sweet potato, it was delicious and the bread that came with it was very soft and fresh As I intolerant to cows milk they gave me some vegan butter which was very nice. I also had a vegan hot chocolate made with oat milk and it was one of the best hot chocolates I had have from a cafe. The decor is very quirky but adds to the charm. Went here for a meal with my son and daughter after a bracing walk in Sheringham Park. Two of us were sorely disappointed by our meals and desserts, my son, however made good choices and enjoyed his food. My tart had such soggy pastry it was hard to pick up without everything collapsing on each mouthful. The filling was fine but the stray pickled onion with my salad was puzzling. My daughters coffee infused beans on toast lacked flavour and depth and didn't taste in the least of coffee, she liked the bread though. The desserts were uninspiring and bog-standard. It's a pleasant space to eat in and it must be really cosy with the woodburner going once the chilly weather sets in but I wouldn't order a meal from here again but would definitely try the breakfast.

It is stuffed full of eclectic and highly eccentric little knick knacks for sale which are certainly not going to appeal to everyone, but it's certainly entertaining sifting through everything on offer from feather boas to clocks, china owls and highly individual paintings and everything in between. This was the second visit to this cafe. There were road works and so it was a bit of a pain to call again but we thought it would be worth it. My partner and I ordered a sweet potato, mushroom and coconut curry. It was horrible. The flavour was quite good but the sweet potatoes were raw. We asked that they be cooked a bit more but when they came back there was scarcely any difference. Had the curry been good the size of the portion was mean. For this we paid £13 each for a main course. The coffee we had was fairly good. The whole meal was too expensive and very poor. What a shame as we liked the gallery next door and love being in that part of Norfolk we thought it was going to be a treat but left feeling cheated.

You enter through a gallery/vintage shop that might once have thought of itself as eclectic but has become an unfocused shambles of tat. The cafe space feels quite warm and welcoming though a bit cold on the day we visited. An entirely vegetarian menu looked good. On this occasion we just had a flat white and cake. The cake was on the edge of being dry. The flat white was possibly the worst I've ever had, harsh, bitter it left one with a dry pallatte afterwards..I've not had such a bad coffee since we visited Grey Seals Cafe in Sheringham. As it was the same roast source. I can only assume the coffee roasting is the main problem here. Far too astringent and raw. A flat white is not an expression, it should have a creamier and more rounded flavour. As it is this just showed up the failings of the coffee makers. Won't go here again.

Visited the Art cafe today, having chanced upon a free coffee tasting, advertised in the Cromer Grey Seal coffee shop, that we’d visited earlier this week. First discovered grey seal in a Snettersham bistro in Oct 2017, and loved the coffee so much we asked what it was. Have since purchased some online and we look out for the grey seal logo when out about because it’s so good. Great range of traditional and natural coffees, light and dark roasted. Fascinating to taste the differences and choose our favourites. The Grey Seal team are passionate, knowledgeable and friendly and their vegetarian Art cafe is fantastic. Best scones ever and the rest of the menu is very tempting, even for non-vegetarians! Dog-friendly too, so thumbs up from us.

This cafe has so much going for it but seems sadly lacking in management. It was actually quite painful watching 4 members of staff falling over themselves in their ineptitude on a not especially busy day. Someone needs to take charge and staff need defined jobs, for instance, only one person can make coffee at a time so why not have one person responsible for making coffees rather than having 3 people crowding round the coffee machine while queues form and customers wait 25minutes plus for 2 teas? Such a shame as this could be really good, it just needs someone capable of organising staff to give it a bit of a kick

I ordered and paid for coffee and cake but did not expect to wait 25 minutes to actually receive them. When I chased my order I was told that they process the orders in sequence and so it's bad luck for customers who have to wait for a number of food orders to be completed ahead of their drink order. The cakes were nice and the coffee was OK but there are high street chains who, in my opinion, serve better coffee.

A rather grubby large barn with clothes and jewellery being sold in the front. Dreadful paintings on the walls. The great irony is that is faces a door which proclaims 'barista training'. Clearly not a service anyone in the Art Cafe has availed the use of. Milky tasteless coffee. One shot presumed to have been split between the two cups we had. Soggy cake and an un-warmed, rather hard scone. It was dirty too: The menu food stained and a general air of grime. There is nothing boho chic about this careless disdain for cleanliness. The cafes in Brighton are an exemplar of how to carry off the dark atmospheric small batch experience. The Art Cafe is a shocking parody of a coffee shop. Sad to think that people are being fooled by the exterior and situation in a picturesque spot along the road to Blakeney.

Service is good if you get to the counter without anyone else there but if there are people there it seems to take forever. Also they were a little sharp with me over asking re the Sour Dough Bread for sale I thought - as if I should magically have known where it was and how much it was, so they need to understand that if you come in new or after a few years you are not up to date with where everything is or what it costs. Stopped by for a decaf mocha and scone to take out. There was just one couple sat eating in the cafe. The girl behind the counter who served me was abrupt, miserable and could barely speak, let alone smile. I queried the price of the scone, as sign said all cakes £3.00, and she was asking £3.50 which seemed a lot. Anyway, I said okay, could the scone be buttered? She sulked off into the kitchen, and said to the kitchen assistant something along the lines of “God I’m so sick of people asking the price of scones”, to which he replied “Yeah, I know.” The mocha was very strong, and most certainly not decaf, the scone took some chewing. Family trip to this area of the UK; bitterly disappointed with the slow service (no communication between staff) and the ridiculous portions. Had a wait of over 30 minutes for three small, mildly warm and half full coffees with three cakes. Avoid

We visited the Art Cafe on what appeared to be a pretty quiet Sunday afternoon. We had kept meaning to try it as we love the Grey Seal Cafe in Wells.

We have visited the Art Café on previous occasions, where both the food and the service have been excellent. On Saturday the food was of the usual delicious standard however, I would agree with recent reviews that the standard of service was very poor. There didn't seem to be a sense of team working, everybody working away individually doing their own thing not communicating well with either customers or each other. Our meals arrived at different times with some being finished as others started. It wasn't overly busy so it was difficult to understand why this happened. We will be back because its a lovely setting and the food is good, the coffee is brilliant but the service issues needs to be sorted and quickly!

This is a lovely place, also lots of interesting items to look at in the little craft shop. Open every day, which is great in such an isolated spot, a nice stop for walkers.

Grey Seal coffee is roasted opposite the café, they roast some interesting and very tasty beans/ blends. The coffee is perfection for real coffee lovers, there are also a range of home made veggie food options. The breakfast looked tasty, wished we had not eaten in a café in Holt prior.

Visited for lunch today. We both had the tart. A small slice of tart was accompanied by a small salad. The portion size was more akin to a snack piece of tart with a bit of salad on the plate as decoration. Not great value. The butternut squash was served with the skin left on. I know the skin is edible, but I find it less appetising with the skin on, as does my wife. Surely it should be served without, to please all? What you do at home for yourself is up to you. Service was good.

Our second visit, and since the first last November I’ve been looking forward to returning. So cosy, a log burner, excellent hot chocolate and great service. Good food and interesting arts and crafts to buy. A really relaxing cafe.

Worth popping into the Art Cafe. The food is delicious and has great flavours, cakes are home-made and portions are generous. They serve fantastic Grey Seal Coffee here.

We love the Art Cafe and always come here when we are on holiday in North Norfolk. Grey Seal Coffee is great, fantastic selection of teas, and a good choice of veggie/vegan dishes. I had the Mediterranean vegetable tart, my son had a huge plate of avocado toast. Service is good, gift shop has some lovely craft items.

Popped over for Brunch from Peterborough to find The Art Cafe is still the best vegetarian cafe in North Norfolk with a great selection of food, including specials served with great locally roasted fresh coffee or even tea and a decent selection of dessert/cakes! A great atmosphere with friendly staff and very welcoming of (well behaved/controlled!) dogs... :)

We visited this cafe last week and were delighted to see the sign outside that said friendly dogs welcome. We sat outside with our friendly dog enjoying our coffee and cake and the sunshine. However our visit was soon to be completely ruined when a loose golden Labrador visited our table and aggressively approached our dog. This dog had no collar on and was not supervised. I was told that this dog belonged to one of the other businesses and regularly roamed around causing a nuisance. Our dog was quite distressed by the aggressive behaviour of this dog and we will not be visiting again. Please be aware if you visit with a dog.

Went with a friend for lunch and had a risotto. It was tasty and had lots of veg in it but it was rather expensive for a risotto. The coffee afterwards was also expensive and very small to boot. Ordering a cappuchino was a mistake as you only got two mouthfuls of coffee and half a cup of foam. The place was about half full but only one person seemed to be doing any work whilst others behind the counter just lounged about looking past you when you went up to order. How irritating is that? They could have cleaned the tables if they were looking for something to do as quite a few needed it.So to sum up, OK, but wouldn't rush back.

Fantastic atmosphere , food is excellent too - in particular the Kale , tomato & seaweed salad. Triple chocolate brownie is really tasty - however the spiced ginger cake eclipses it - "Wow !" - what flavour - ideal on a chilly day . Wonderful food , knowledgeable and friendly staff . Basil the dog loved it too .

If you want to eat awful and not healthy than best you camp in. Food is cold, staff are rude and faces like they don't wanna be there. Short woman was very rude and you could hear them shouting out the back. Some man who appeared to be friends with them messing around outside. This isn't what i like to see when eating out. HUGE let down girls. They need to be more polite and have a better manner and not shout so much!!!

Called in for light lunch. Ordered the soup on the menu - leak and potato. Don't think that is what we got. Tt was green and possibly pea, but it was so thin it had no taste. Very disappointing
