Armytage Arms in Calderdale

What a lovely set out pub! Walked in greeted with big smiles from a guy with black hair flicked over to the side (think he had a tea towel on his shoulder). Then when we was in and sat down we ordered through the app our drinks were delivered quick by the assistant manager Kayleigh which through out our visit made us feel welcome. I ordered the hunters chicken and my partner ordered mega mixed grill, food came piping hot and tasted amazing hats off to the chefs. When we was leaving the manager tom was stood near the end of the bar, what a lovely gent he is! Overall cant wait ti return for some more lovely food!

Excellent service staff was amazing and the food was top quality and portions was plenty. Would highly recommend! Great value for money.

Food was lovely & was served piping hot and quick even though it was a busy Friday tea time. The chicken tikka was so tasty. The staff are very friendly & professional. It’s even dog friendly which is a bonus for us! Trev loved his kids beef burger and chips!

We have been going to The Armytage Arms for over nine months now, every first Thursday in the month, we've never been disappointed yet, the food has always been hot, the menu is very varied, something for most palates. The staff are very polite and welcoming, they have a very good knowledge of the menu. I’m a full time wheelchair user, and each and every time we’ve been the table has been accessible. This is a great place to eat and drink. You get a warm welcome and staff are very helpful. We booked wrong day and manager still managed to find us a table as regulars. Food is always great and service outstanding. Best sizzling pub.

A fantastic pub/restaurant. The customer service here from staff here is great. They are all friendly and welcoming. Food is nice and at a reasonable price. It's one of our favourite places to go as a family. Would highly recommend.

Went for a meal with my wife yesterday. We had booked in advance, and our table was waiting when we arrived. The food was delicious and hot: I had the Hot clucking chicken burger with loaded dirty fries, and my wife (a pescatarian) had the salmon sizzler. Vegetarian-friendly. There is an extensive selection of beers and spirits, and it's sometimes 2-4-1 on cocktails. The Inn is always busy, which is a credit to the management. Right from entering the Inn, Tom P made us feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for the team (which includes Barman Kristian and smiling waiter Kayleigh). We've been to other Sizzling Inns, and The Armytage is by far the best. It's dog-friendly, the food is very good value, and the Inn has a really good community feel. They also collect money for the Marie Curie charity. Bingo on Wednesdays, and a Quiz on Thursdays. Outside, there's a decked Beer garden overlooking their large carpark. I didn't take photos this time, but I'll upload some after our next visit... We will return!

Absolutely love this place, the food is absolutely spot on each time we come. The staff are always friendly and last month Tom Patton even put a birthday banner out for me and made sure we had everything we needed to make sure that my birthday lunch was as enjoyable as possible which was so appreciated . I return regularly and always recommend to my friends. Absolutely a 10/10 service.

Fantastic food, fantastic venue, what’s not to say, a cracking little. Nice size beer garden to enjoy a cold pint. The staff are a real credit to the pub and manager Tom.

Not often write reviews, but you have to give credit when’s it’s due. Having been several times in the few months had to add a review. Lovely staff , including bar staff. Nothing too much trouble. Food was very good, came hot. Yes you do have to wait when busy upto forty minutes but it’s worth the wait. We had the mixed grill and bbq chicken. Both were lovely and tasty. Followed by a Cadburys sundae and apple pie and custard. Good value for money. The pub is full so that says it all to me, been at lunch too and it’s just as busy. So a very well done, keep up the good work.

We ordered garlic bread with cheese and nacho starters. The cheese wasn’t melted the bread itself was cold and there was so much garlic it was inedible. The nachos were poor with a small amount of cheese, salsa and jalepenos for the large amount of nachos given. We had steak and a burger for main course. Ordered the steak medium rare it was well done. It was also really fatty. We asked for things removing off the burger which were left on. It was pretty unenjoyable on the whole and not worth the almost £50 it cost. We won’t be going again. There are much better options locally. Avoid

We went for lunch on Friday. We ordered fish and chips and chickrn gyros for £11.79 which was really good value for money, both very enjoyable then I had a mini dessert and coffee which was also enjoyable. The only negative comment I have was the chairs on our table number 2 were very worn and I then started looking around and could see various areas that were looking tired and worn. Apart from that an enjoyable visit.

This is such a lovely place to be, especially on a Wednesday. How ever today, well technically yesterday, 1st May it was very busy with the bingo, as well as many of us staying for meals , both before and after the bingo, it seemed that many of the staff were ran off there feet. Tom as ever was smiling, but when i asked him how things were going with out Callie, he laughed and said , i'm shattered. I took this to believe they had not yet replaced her., poor Tom and his staff, but they all kept smiling, and kept everyone happy. c u guys soon, cx

Always so welcoming here, good food and lovely staff. I come here with my mum and daughter and we love the atmosphere, the service and my daughter loves the "prize every time" toy machines! On our last visit, the wonderful Tom P was our server. He is an absolute diamond and a value to the company, nothing was too much hassle and we were very well looked after. Will definitely be coming back again soon 😊

Dropped into this pub for a drink and maybe food. Didn't book so went in to see if they had a table it was a Wednesday teatime. Only got one foot in the door for the Rude Bar person male shouted over Have you booked??? I replied no was just about to say no was just seeing if you had a table. Didn't get that far as he carried on shouting across have you booked? , were full. You might be full but this is also a pub where you can get a drink so maybe ask not bellow across the pub and ask. Really poor Hospitality/customer service. The bar person needs to learn manners and not shout across the pub. Hope it wasn't a management colleague and can retrain the colleague in Hospitality

We love coming to the Armitage Arms. It's always a great atmosphere and the food is always amazing too. Great value for money and the staff are so lovely & helpful too. We highly recommend a visit. It's dog friendly too & our dog Chester gets excited if we tell him we're off to the 'Pub'.

My meal was wonderful, I’m very happy with the bar staff especially Tom as he’s always so welcoming, I am a diabetic and they always make sure I get my food on time! My family always come here for a meal now and then and we love it every time!

Go here weekly with friends. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Bit of banter too. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, really enjoyable evening out.

There were a group of 13 of us at lunch today with a variety of choices. The staff were fantastic happy and pleasant with us although they were really busy. We were made to feel welcome. Everyone had a great meal the food was hot, and beautiful and we all got served at the same time. Thank you to all the staff there today.

Had my birthday meal here with 14 people, took order quickly and everything arrives perfect. Amazing customer service, all polite and made the experience. Brought our own cake and they brought it up with candles and plates after our mains. Will definitely be back soon!

Came for my 50th birthday party and had a buffet that was absolutely amazing, organised by my family I arrived slightly late, and was greated warmly by the staff on arrival who couldn't do enough for me and my family and friends. Really enjoyed myself and everyone was very pleased with the buffet

Great food, happy atmosphere with friendly staff. Kids always enjoy our Armitage visits. We like to visit often even on the days when they is an event on.

Better respect for your elderly customers. Staff member (male) attitude towards an elderly gentleman dining alone, telling him he can't make his food appear on his plate and that the wait wasn't his problem. Shouts into the kitchen "Oh someone eats his sausage" It was an awkward experience that I never wanted to have again. Disgusting visit. The food was good quality despite the awful atmosphere.

Great food cooked by a great team. With the cost of living crisis hitting its brilliant that there's a place like this I can bring my family for some really well cooked food at a decent price. Great atmosphere too. Highly recommended

This pub has a regular Wednesday bingo club, I've been coming, more or less since it started, over a year ago. It is so popular now that you have to reserve a table to play. Trish the host is a real laugh, she always has a smile and jokes in-between games. She also plays music from the past between games, as well as raffles and lots of extra chances to win bonuses. Once you are a regular visitor, you get chance to win hundreds of pounds. Most weeks she pays out well over a thousand pounds in winnings. And the staff are brilliant, you can book a table to start Intime for the bingo or a little before and have lunch first, or book to keep your table on after and eat after, you get chance to win a discount card in the raffle, you can spend £15 pounds on food and drink if you win. They try to be very accommodating, and even sing happy birthday when you tell them its your special day. A lovely afternoon is a guarantee. There could only be one thing better, and that is for me to win a little more than i do, lol, only joking, Thanks for making my Wednesday's the favourite day of the week. Caz

Went for a last minute date night since the kids had been taken out. The place was fully booked when I rang but was told to arrive after 19:00 and they would squeeze us in. Lived up to their promise and we were seated and fed within 20 minutes. Food amazing, the jerk chicken skewers were exceptional last night and the chicken platter was demolished by the hubby! Staff attentive even given the amount of people in. Taking the kids back in three days for their tea! For value for money, good food and great service this is the place to go. Can not understand why it has a three star rating. Possibly due to the previous managers. 🤷‍♀️
