We were staying at the Hyatt hotel and were tired after a long drive to Birmingham so we decided to eat at the hotel. I’m glad we did. The food was really good, I had monkfish which was very fresh and perfectly seasoned. My partner had the risotto which was also excellent. Staff were polite and friendly . Highly recommended.

Booked for afternoon tea at £30 Per head. We were there an hour before we got served our afternoon tea. Waitress brought around a box and offered everyone a Tbag but then had to wait 15 minutes for hot water. Asked for decaf tea, was brought coffee and told no decaf tea, then Decaf tea turned up. Selection of cakes on the afternoon tea was awful. Only the scones were edible. Was very hot in there and was told no aircon. For a restaurant in a so luxury hotel I was very disappointed and would not recommend.

My wife and I ate at Le Petit Chef, hosted by Aria restaurant, on Friday 14th April. In short, an animated food story, featuring a 6cm tall chef, is projected onto your table ahead of each course. The animations were very well thought out and humorous with clever scenarios a al While E. Coyote and Road Runner, creating a very different and exciting dining experience. James and his team did a fantastic job as our hosts and were informative and attentive throughout. The food too, reflecting each individual animation, was very good! If your looking for something different to do one evening, I would highly recommend this unusual, beautiful, and well presented experience.

Wow - what a night! For my partners 40th birthday I bought her an experience called ‘Le Petit Chef’ which has recently come to the Aria Restaurant in the Hyatt and I can honestly say it was nothing short of amazing - a 6cm tall chef kept us entertained by making our food right in front of us in a series of short films which are projected onto the table and plate. The food was like nothing we’ve ever eaten before! James, Emily and Naz couldn’t do enough for us and truly gave us an unbelievable night and we will remember it forever. Thank you for making my partners birthday and our night so special. Willow sends her love. We look forward to seeing you all again.

Booked the afternoon tea for my mum’s birthday - she had a great time. The decor in the restaurant was lovely. Also, a massive thank you to the wonderful staff who took photos for us and supplied us with endless hot drinks. There was a lovely selection of sandwiches which tasted delightful & fresh. Only disappointment was getting a sweet vanilla creme to accompany the jam selection for the scones. However, no-one else on my table seemed to mind. Perhaps if I had requested clotted cream they would have obliged. The lemon blueberry mousse was lovely. We were all stuffed by the time we left (perhaps to be expected when provided with two scones, four sweet treats and four sandwiches each)! Delightful.

We booked an afternoon tea over the phone for my birthday. The service was perfect. We were shown to a table in the Aria restaurant with a birthday banner behind it which was a lovely touch. We were offered hot drinks & soft drinks. We had cappuccinos and juice while we waited for our food. The sandwiches & desserts were lovely. I was especially surprised that a hotel had a halal option not just a vegetarian one. I was also given a lovely birthday treat from the staff. A special thank you to Adda & Hussain for making my birthday treat special❤️

Oh dear this has to be the worst afternoon tea I have experienced. Processed meat, Branston pickle and god knows what the cheese was. Mouldy raspberry in my champagne. The cakes were dry and looked like that had been decorated at pre-school. The service was shocking, 1 decaf tea and 1 decaf coffee with a regular tea and a regular coffee-this took 3 attempts!! What a shame, its not a bad venue, cannot understand why cakes and sandwiches are so difficult to perfect

My Husband and I arrived a bit early so went to the bar for a pre lunch drink. We made it known that we had arrived for a rebooked lunch. As nobody came to tell us our table was ready we made our way over to the restaurant. We waited to be shown to our table and were then told we could sit at any number of tables, we chose one and were escorted there by a waiter in a nice uniform but his shoes were a disgrace. we ordered a main course each. it was a while before it arrived even though the restaurant was not busy. I had ordered the wild mushroom Tortellini. It had obviously been sitting for awhile as the top of the pasta had a dried out appearance. The filling was nondescript. My Husband ordered Pork Belly. It came with vegetables that were very al dente, the Yorkshire pudding was soggy and the fat on the pork belly was not crisp. All in all a poor showing. Although we did not have to pay for my husbands meal , I would not recommend this restaurant. I don't believe the food was up to a standard expected at a restaurant at a high end hotel and the staff of said restaurant were not dressed appropriately. ( i.e. unpolished shoes and shirt tailed hanging out)

I took my wife to the Aria Restaurant after looking for somewhere close to the Symphony Hall where we were to attend a concert on Sunday afternoon. I telephoned to ensure they did a la carte as we just wanted a light lunch having booked elsewhere for an evening meal and was advised to book a table "to avoid disappointment". on arrival it was clear that advise was hugely ambitious because there were only 2 other tables occupies in a dining room set for at least a 100 covers. We had burly in the lounge which was served with a frozen raspberry in the glass - a touch of class that proved to be the high point of our visit (as it was all downhill from there. I ordered Pork Belly and my wife, mushroom tortellini and in advance of its arrival we were given bread buns - one seeded and one not - no choice. I had to ask for Serviettes for our table as did our neighbouring table as none were provided. We then waited rather too long for our main course but with no starter being ordered I cannot criticise for the delay but I must say I was entertained by the obviously inexperienced (or too poorly trained) waiter making 3 attempts to deliver the correct bottle of wine that our neighbours had ordered. His naivety was confirmed when I ordered our wine and the waiter asked me to confirm that the Carignan Granache was red! When our meals arrived I was told that the vegetables would arrive shortly and 5 minutes later 2 large serving plates were delivered with the indication that these were to share - Roast potatoes carrots and parsnips, Broccoli, peas android cabbage with Tortellini????. On further inspection the Main Course had clearly been stood under the heat lamps for some time as the mushroom sauce on the pasta had skinned over and there was a large sticky thumb print of puree baked onto the rim of my plate. The carrots and parsnips were al dente to the point of beng uncooked and Yorkshire pudding served with my pork belly had no gravy and had the texture of a rubber sponge. The final insult was the pork belly as the "crackling" was also the texture of sponge rubber. The waiter did not approach our table (and in fact could not be seen in our vicinity) until my wife had finished her meal - I could not eat what had been offered. On complaining to the waiter and after some uncertain conveyancing I was told the manager had instructed him to deduct my meal from the bill. Frankly I am appalled that a hotel variously described as 4 star did not have better cuisine and properly trained staff.

Overall our afternoon tea was a disappointing experience. On arrival we were shown to the table right by the main entrance and host station area, we asked to move but were told that it was going to be so busy that they couldn't fit us in anywhere else. Fair enough I suppose, except that it transpired that they were only about half full! We had chosen the Aria because of its good name and one of our party is gluten free and they serve a gluten free afternoon tea. We opted for the champagne tea and we were also given a cup of mulled wine which was very nice, as was the champagne. However at no point were we offered a cup of tea! Our food arrived and there was lots of it and it looked good. The sandwiches were very tasty however the scones were very disappointing, they were cold and solid. The cake selection was varied and had a christmassy theme which was cute. The gluten free tea was very disappointing apart from the sandwiches - the scones (which the waitress described as 'scone or sort of cake' were like pancakes and just crumbled away if you tried to cut them! The 'cakes' just seemed to be pots of cream and fruit and were not that appetising. After we had finished our sandwiches and before starting on the scones we remarked to a waiter that we hadn't had any tea. His response was to dash off and come back with a pot of tea. We then asked for a choice as some of our party don't drink regular tea. He asked what we wanted and then went away. He returned to simply say 'blackcurrant, chamomile or earl grey'. A very disappointing selection of teas from a big hotel chain serving afternoon tea. We chose and were bought a pot to share that only served 2 cups so kept having to ask for more!

¡Delicioso!

The ambiance and standard of food here was very high. But if you are marketing a pre-concert menu you have to be faster with the service of the set menu. None of the staff asked us if we were going to the concert, even though we had mentioned this when making the booking and we chose from the advertised pre-concert menu. The starter came quickly enough but we had to wait over another hour for our main course and had no time left for the tempting desserts. Took my mum here for Mother’s Day for Afternoon Tea. We parked over in Brindley Place and walked across. Standard afternoon tea, the staff were very busy so we could understand why we were left for quite a while between sitting down and when ordering tea. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh and the cakes were all lovely apart from the macaroons, really didn’t like the flavour of them. My only gripe was my one dessert had a large crack and chip on the side of the glass, so I didn’t eat this just in case. I feel this should've been picked up before sending out to customers. I should’ve asked for it to be replaced however I didn’t want to cause a fuss on mother’s Day, the other two were fine. They did make a lot of effort as it was also my mum’s birthday so they had the table decorated with Happy Birthday which was a nice touch. And all the mum’s received a gift at the end which contained skin care products and details for the spa which we would now like to try.

We rang the hotel five minutes before we arrived to see if they could accommodate us - not only did they fit us in, but they checked what we were celebrating and laid up the table to celebrate the birthday. Service was just excellent, really friendly and helpful, with a few nice extras. The food and drink was delicious, and the Shakespeare afternoon tea slant made it a little different. We decided to book for sunday lunch after staying in the hotel on the saturday evening. We used to visit regularly for sunday lunch when this was a buffet style lunch. Firstly we were taken to our table and were told its self serve . We were not offered any wine or drinks at this point nor any type of menu or told what the choices were. Shortly after, a waiter removed our wine glasses but we stopped him to ask for a wine list since we actually did want wine!!2 of 4 persons on our table went up for food.. the chef asked us what we want to which i replied ' well what is our choice' We had a choice of beef or lamb ( both of which where covered up so we couldnt look at them) and the yorkshire puddinds where sitting in a cold display which was offputting for a sunday roast. After returning to the table with a very unappealing plate of food the waiter asked if we wanted to order any risotto or fish... Sorry but we were not even told about this!!!! Such a bad start, however at this point the 2 without food decided to order a rissoto and a fish. i just got on with my cold yorkshire pudding as it was too late. The rissoto arrived only a few mins later (after been told was cooked to order in the back ) and my friend said it wasnt even cooked it was unedible. Then the fish arrived... this was the final straw.....It was distinctivly clear the fish was completely off and should NOT be served. The smell hit all 4 of us in the face and my friend had to go to the bathroom as he was then sick. HOW ANY CHEF CAN SERVE THIS IS APPAULING If my friend had eaten this peice of rotten fish which smelt of strong foot odour .. he would of been in hospital with servire food poisoning. We asked for the manager and my asked for it to me removed immediatley as the smell was repulsive. We then explained how unhappy we were with the service, poor food and total lack of organisation let alone the serving of off, rotten fish in a hyatt hotel. We were then took away from our table and seating in the nearby bar area after our bill was wiped as we could not of paid for this. We were offered to order something else but none of us felt up for eating and one of our group was still in the toilet being sick. We decided to just get in the cars and drive home. This really spoilt our Easter weekend stay at the Hyatt after spending so much on 2 rooms, valet parking for 2 cars and bar drinks and snacks the night before. I do not normally write such poor reviews but i think it is so important when it comes to food poisoning. We shall not be returning to eat at the Hyatt however, i did enjoy the rooms and had a nice stay even with such a high cost spoiling Easter and my moms birthday weekend.

We booked a table as a birthday treat for my mum. After reading reviews online, and looking at various other afternoon teas, We decided to go for Aria as it is within a highly reputable hotel chain and we naively believed that would mean decent standard of service. Our table was located at the back, in a less ambient, dark area of the restaurant, next to a door which staff used to access the back-of-house, and next to tables which were left uncleared for a long time. A lady showed us to our table and asked if she could get us any water, we said we’d love some still water. She went off to get it, only to come back 10 seconds later and say “Oh sorry, I think it’s better if you ask your waitress when she comes”. We found this really odd, but, we assumed it was a blip, so we continued to look at the menu. We sat looking at the menu, but we already knew that we were there for champagne afternoon tea - this is not like going out for a meal where it might take the party a while to decide. We waited well over 30 minutes for anyone to see to us. In that time, we watched servers come and go, some seemingly wandering around the floor with little (or confused) purpose. Eventually, I had to ask one waiter if it would be possible to order - a customer really, really shouldn’t need to do this! Another waiter brought out teas and coffees not too long after we’d ordered them (the tea was pretty tasteless to add) But, it took almost a further 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The lady who brought our food apologised for the delay. I did at this point tell her that it was not acceptable service to have been waiting so long. She apologised once more and said that she would take 50% off; she said this almost like she expected to have to offer it (I already had a voucher for 25% off, so they took a further 25% off). Before leaving us to eat, she noted that they had run out of various cakes, so they’d replaced it with a substitute – not the end of the world to us, but not great standards to be running out of anything at all. This restaurant only accepts bookings for afternoon tea, so they surely know (or could closely approximate) how many they need to cater for? The food was definitely nothing to shout about–just OK. We were pretty deflated by this experience. A good afternoon tea experience rests a lot on service and ambiance. I’ve tried several other afternoon tea experiences, but never has one been as slow, non-special and unenjoyable as this one. And, I’ve never felt the need to write an unhappy review about one before! Very disappointing, Hyatt. Especially as it was meant to be a celebration occasion!

During our stay at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham (Please see also review.) for one night in October 2015 we had dinner at Aria Bistro in the heart of the hotel. It looked romantic with trees, colorful furniture, shelves with vases, the water feature and a wall depicting what occupations Birmingham had in the past, like Buckle Maker, Buttonier, Pewterer and Sword Maker. The cuisine was modern with local and international dishes. The staff was attentive and friendly. We ordered a bottle of Belu water, one hot chocolate made with soya milk, smoked Duarte Salmon, blue figs and Stilton, two blackened Atlantic Salmon with Cassoulet and Chorizo and one panna cotta with raspberry sorbet to share.A rustic fresh bread selection was served with salted and unsalted butter. The food was delicious and the blue figs and Stilton starter especially interesting. The Chorizo added a nice smokiness and spice to the Cassoulet. There was a small mistake in the invoice (two hot chocolates were charged, but we had only one). It was easily corrected and no problem at all.The bill came in at 67.85 GBP (ca. 85.80 Euro / ca. 94.50 USD).When staying at the Hyatt Regency again we will return to Aria.Would we recommend this restaurant to a friend? YES!Would we want to eat here again in our future? YES!

This restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Hyatt hotel. We lunched there on the day we checked into the Hyatt because we were short on time, but it proved to be a good choice. The lunch menu is very limited, only three choices on the day we visited. We both chose the salmon dish which was both excellent and good value. The staff were exceptionally pleasant. Definitely a good option if you are on Broad Street.

We've often come here for dinner at 6.0pm before going to the Symphony Hall or the Rep as it is so close and usually quiet. There's a fixed price menu for 2 or 3 courses and we've sometimes returned in the interval for our last course. The food is usually good although we were a little disappointed last time a few days before Christmas. The house wines are fine and the service is both professional and friendly. The ambience is perfect for us - quiet, tasteful and not crowded.

As part of our Christmas custom, my mother and I ,"take tea". The service at Aria was a bit slow, but well worth the wait. The staff were extremely considerate and attentive. The list of Tea available was extensive, with some exotic sounding types like, "Bird of Padadise" and "Samovar, spiced orange". We chose the Champagne option so we had a super glass of bubbly too. The sandwich selection included smoked salmon with dill and mustard and cream cheese and tomato, along with the seasonal turkey and cranberry. The scones were warm, soft and buttery and served with two types of jam. The icing on the cake were the Christmas treats on top. I'm not going to spoil that if you have booked. If you haven't you must.

This has a good ambience, the staff are still learning their craft. The food is good, if a little over priced. Their weakness is the bar. Their lack of understanding of cocktails and even things like an Irish coffee is pretty poor - see the photo. However, all that said, the maitre d' - Mike, knows how to make it better. Give this a try and help them make it the gem it can be.

Myself and a friend attended Sunday evening. Firstly I would like to say the staff were very helpful and friendly. However this is where the praise stops. The starters , venison was tasteless and disappointing. The non vegetarian soup was given in error then the egg was left on the plate even when I asked for no egg as I was vegan. After the soup I decided not to have a main. I went onto desserts . Lack of a vegetarian dish . My friend had a fish main which was nicely presented and tasted rather bland. I am a fair reviewer but I would avoid this restaurant. Maybe we just had a bad experience but this is definitely not value for money. There are better restaurants . As I said earlier I can't fault the front of house staff but the menu seems that some further work required.

I went with my wife for lunch to this restaurant as we find a very interesting set menu at reasonable price, we were not disappointed, the dinning hall is lovely, the service was slow and we were the only couple in the whole restaurant, it took 2 hours from the start of the meal to the end, that is the only negative point we found, food was really nice, tasty and well presented, congratulations to the Chef, but we guess he had plenty of time to do it to perfection, we had: ●Figs filled with truffle and Chesse, delicious! ●Cod with saffron sauce and Mash Potatoes, cooked to perfection and well balanced!!! ●Spinach rotolo pasta with fry capers and cheese! Tasty and well presented! ●Cheese cake and mango relish, nicely! The quality was really good in relation to the price! We pay £29 for the set menu! They have more interesting options for dinner after 6:30 pm. Defenitly we will come back! Hopefully with better service to make it and excellent experience! However the waiter who took over care of our table from the initial waitress, was very attentive!

We ate in here while staying at the Hyatt overnight. We had specifically looked at the set menu whilst booking, only to then find it wasn't available when we sat down to eat. That added £10 a head to the cost, plus one bottled beer was £7.50. Service was fine, but nothing great considering the cost - very much pub-standard overall. The food itself was lovely and everything you'd expect for the price. Unfortunately the "ok" service, lack of menu choice and excessive price all contribute to a "we wouldn't eat here again".

The Hyatt Aria restaurant is highly recommended for an early dinner (from 5.30pm) before a concert in Birmingham. There is a two or three course fixed price menu (£29.50 for three courses with two glasses of good house wine) or you can eat from an a la carte menu that includes a modern take on some traditional favourites. We have visited this restaurant five time now and on each occasion the service was prom but unhurried. This allows plenty of time for three courses and coffee before strolling over to Symphony Hall for a 7.30 start. On our recent visit we enjoyed a particularly interesting stilton coquette starter and a large main course of excellent salmon. Dieters beware - the desserts are luscious and really big! We are looking forward to our next meal in Aria.

There are 2 places to eat in The Hyatt, the bar or the lobby restaurant. As I stay here because I'm visiting family I either eat in the bar with my husband or more frequently eat out. This time I was on my own hence I thought I'd give The Aria a try. There's a set menu which looked ok but I thought I'd try the main menu.I started with Devon Crab Cocktail and had Rib Eye Steak to follow. The cocktail was nicely presented and generous in size however I resisted the pansy served on top because it looked a little damaged. The crab was nice but would have benefited from being slightly smaller and with less dressing, I really didn't like the taste of the pale green "blobs" of dressing/decoration on the plate.I am always nervous with steak but didn't fancy anything else so I went for the Rib Eye. I can honestly say it was cooked as I asked ( medium rare) and was truly delicious. It was thick, too big for me and juicy- I sent my compliments to the chef. The Béarnaise sauce which I received after prompting was a little glutinous but to be honest if it had been fabulous I probably would have eaten a minuscule amount because the steak was so good. It came with a grilled field mushroom (lovely) and grilled tomato (nice) as well as sweet potato chips (ok)The waiting staff were friendly and attentive.

We had booked the Aria restaurant for a meet-up with family and we found the atrium bar area a comfortable and welcoming place to gather to wait for everyone to turn up before our meal. When we went to the table we ordered from the set two-course menu. Given that the restaurant wasn't at all busy it was incredible how long we had to wait to be fed. The prawn cocktail was virtually tasteless, neither the prawns nor the sauce had any flavour to speak of. When the mains eventually arrived after a wait that was becoming embarrassing, the portions were small and the meat was practically cold. Apart from the criticisms of the food and the slow service, the place was redeemed by the pleasant setting and the fact that the staff were pleasant, polite and charming.

We had been to the Aria in the past for Sunday Lunch and really enjoyed our meal, it was always very busy so with difficulty we booked ahead. We were surprized when we arrived at 1 o'clock that we were the only ones there. We were quickly shown to our table and found that the Menu was a paper Place Mat.There were four of us and a 3 year old and there was a childrens menu.We were attended by a very pleasant young man who was chinese. We ordered drinks and bearing in mind that the Hyatt's bar was open we were amazed that they did not serve draught beer or indeed J2O, my husband selected a bottled beer which was nice, I was given a bottle of was essentially orange coloured fizzy soda water which was horrid. We looked at the menu and the Set Menu @£19.50 per person + £10 if you included 2 glasses of House Wine seemed the best option, however only Roasted Turkey or Roasted Salmon was offered, looking across the page there was a Sunday Roast of Aged Sirloin Beef on offer @ £17.00 along with Chicken or Salmon. We asked if we could substitute Beef for Turkey or Salmon and our waiter went to ask and came back and advised there would be a supplement. We could cope with that so we ordered the beef requesting that it was Medium Well done as none of us like underdone beef. He said he would have to ask the Chef who agreed that this was possible so we ordered 4 beef with a Prawn Cocktail for Starters. The childrens menu looked good and we ordered Tomato Soup, Min Fish & Chips with Green Peas followed by Ice CreamWe had by now been at our table for some time and when the first course arrived we had already been served 3 lots of lovely bread rolls and butter. The soup arrived, a huge bowl with a crouton, certainly not a childs portion and not what you would generally serve to a 3 year old, tasty but more of a tomato stew, Olivia gave it a go and managed about 1/10 of it.This was followed by a generous portion of Fish & Chips - alas no Peas.By now our Chinese Waiter announced he had to go and service was taken over by another waiter. The prawn cocktail arrived, very disappointing, this was followed by the Beef and although both the meat and vegetables were cold was delicious with the exception of the Yorkshire Pudding.A small amount of gravy was on each plate and when requested and equally small 1/4 jug of gravy was brought to the table. We went on to order the Dessert, it was by now obvious that non of the waiters had any knowledge of the menu.We queried the Dessert Menu which read as follows-Christmas Pudding, Brandy Sauce,Chocolate Bar,Salted Caramel Ice Cream,Honey Peanuts,Carrot Cake,Carrot Confit,Walnut Creme. We ordered 2 Christmas Puddings, 1 Chocolate Bar, ! Salted Caramel Ice Cream. We then were advised there were only 2 sweets - Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce or the whole of the second line - which contained loads of nuts. We compromised 2 Christmas Puddings which were slightly warm, 1 Chocolate Bar & 1 Ice Cream. We declined coffee as it was now getting very late. The bill came which was incorrect but was rectified.Don't think we will be rushing back, there is an urgent need for staff training, a Maitre De (there was a man standing about who could have been the Maitre De), a command of the English Language and an efficient booking system - my son rang no less than 5 times to book this meal and despite requests received no confirmation by phone or email. The last Manager he spoke to said she had found a scrap of paper with his details on but even this had not generated a response. My son had planned for a much larger party but reduced this to family members only on the basis that if on arrival there was no availablity we could go elsewhere.Very few diners and a lot of empty tables - alarm bells should be ringing!

The apple compote wasn't a compote but a few slices of warmed apple on some biscuit crumbs. There is a grand piano but nobody was playing it when we were there. They possibly do it at dinner time. You need to check out the website or experience it yourself as I don't justify it with my words. The food is excellent. Had Sunday lunch on 27th July 2014. We had to ask 3 times for our first drinks, and never seemed to get the same member of staff twice. The place lacked atmosphere possibly because it was empty.Starters and sweets were very good but the dinner was awful, it would not even be up to a Toby Carvery standard.First of all there were no warm plates, you used the same pile if you were having salads or a hot dinner. The meats were just warm as was the gravy. The vegetables looked as thou they had been swimming in water for a week they were wet and limp and hardly any choice. We did complain and were offered something off the Ala Carte menu but we refused as it was already a spoilt experience. For the money it is a rip off and it is easy to see why the place was empty. I booked four afternoon teas at the Hyatt hotel as a catch up and celebration of my nan turning 70. I sadly can't say that all went to plan as I was quite disappointed by the service and attention to detail of this prestige brand as we know it. The first problem was getting any attention from the serving staff, there seemed to be a lot of staff not doing a lot. Once we did get the attention we had orders drinks. The member of staff who was serving us looked as gloomy as the British weather outside that day. I as the host was not impressed. I then gently reminded the waiter of a previous conversation I had with the restaurant supervisor in regard to particular sandwiches being served for me as I am a 'fussy' eater. Putting aside his gloom, unhelpful attitude I carried on catching up with my family. The sandwiches were served and I was forgotten about. So I gently reminded the waiter again hoping that I may actually get somewhere. So the second round of sandwiches came out and they were exactly the same as those before. At this point I was now embarrassed as I had boasted that the hotel was the best for afternoon tea, but all I had seen was very bad service! I finally asked again and mentioned that I was now getting very annoyed and would just prefer plain chicken sandwiches because my family had already eaten there food!!! So I finally got the sandwiches!! I don't know what went on in this particular service however as someone who has used the Hyatt in Birmingham in the past I was very disappointed. And I think it's unlikely that I will return.

Restaurants within hotels rarely get it absolutely right: they have to serve the vicissitudes of hotel guests but still remain interesting to non residents. Aria does this very competently, with a good set and a la carte menu. The food is carefully cooked and well presented, served in relaxed and sophisticated surroundings. What I particularly like is the quiet alcoves and well spaced tables which mean that you can discuss your business with no one being too close to eavesdrop. The wine list isn't huge but has on it what it needs and is very reasonably priced: especially the two glasses for £10 to accompany the set dinner. So, it's definitely worth trying for an unassuming and quiet meal away from the hustle & bustle of many of the city's better known restaurants.

Before writing this comment I did E Mail the hotel direct for a response, my comments were not addressed, and found to be very dismissive. Total cost for 4 people including Champagne was £130.00, take my advice and spend your hard earned money elsewhere, there are plenty of good venues without the prestige offering a substantially better quality and service. Having visited The Hyatt with my husband and his parents for a special birthday afternoon tea, I felt it necessary to make known my comments & feelings of disappointment. My immediate observation was that there were no table cloths. The table was badly scratched and water marked and in poor condition, not what you would expect for a elegant afternoon tea venue. The lack of cloths made the area look more like a Café than a restaurant area in a prestigious hotel such as The Hyatt.Tea was then served; I was shocked that it was served in small stainless steel type tea pots placed directly onto the table with no additional hot water and with the weirdest milk jug I have ever seen, which dribbled when poured. There was a selection of sugar sachets, unbelievable that something as elegant and traditional as afternoon tea was served with such lack of finesse. I have experienced many afternoon teas at far less prestigious venues but the service and quality of this one was by far the worst, in fact I have never found it necessary to complain yet alone put it in writing. Finally the selection of the food, I have attached a photo of what we received, which resembles nothing like your website photo.Jam in jars like breakfast service, and only 3 types of sweet pastries excluding scones, two of which were mousse based and very unappetising, again see website showing small tartlet type, macaroons etc and served at a table that was clothed, then compare to my photo.I now understand why there were only 2 other tables having afternoon tea, obviously the word is out there how poor it is.

I’ve ordered 2 soups, one of them was wrong one, 4 meatballs which I didn’t get, had to call them back for a few times for it and I had to wait another 40 mins to get them, the fries on the site was included but on the phone they said it’s not and I have to order them separately , I paid by card online then they cancelled the order, but they have taken the money, and then said I have to pay another £42 at the driver and for the first money that I paid I’ll get a refund. That’s how you lose your customers

The food was amazing, I can’t fault the service we received from Matt he was brilliant. A lot of restaurants/bars you go to just want you to keep buying and have no conversations beside that, Matt kept the conversation flowing and his hospitality skills were spot on.I would definitely be back and recommend anyone going to try it, you won’t be disappointed!
