We arrived to check in after a long weary drive to find the door locked a local then told me that the landlord is in prison for fraud it would have been polite to inform me of the situation, and not waste my time and effort

We’ve been here before and it’s been great. Today we visited, asked if there were any tables available and the guy said no and offered us a table outside (in torrential rain), we then checked online and they had space to dine in 30 minutes time, not great. The guy didn’t seem apologetic.

Probably the worst Sunday lunch we have ever had ! 2 of us had the roast beef my husband quipped it looked like it had been sliced off the cow and served as blood was on the plate , it was so tough and chewy no flavour at all. And 2 small slices . The plate is piled into a stack in the middle so looks impressive but that’s the only good thing. My elderly mother whose birthday we were celebrating had to send her undercooked inedible pork back I practically had to beg the waitress to bring her something else . My cauliflower steak was basically a piece of sliced cauliflower with a coulis of sauce . The puddings are a complete rip off at £11 each tiny portions. This restaurant is trying to be something it is not . The table was dirty . The toilet not cleaned and no toilet paper . Over priced and very underwhelming definitely won’t return.

Always superb food, friendly and cordial staff makes visiting a pleasure
